View Full Version : Official hasbro email concerning Thora's Vengenance

I just got the reply from Hasbro today.
Hi Su_Nan,
Thank you for contacting Hasbro with your question on Heroscape! Perhaps I can help.
We have not revealed the release date for Thora's Vengeance at this time. Because of that, I would expect that the Castle set will debut before Thora's Vengeance. Unfortunately, we do not have any information on exactly which figures are coming in Thora's Vengeance. Normally we release information on what figures come in the newest expansion around the same time that we reveal the release date. Keep checking www.heroscape.com for future information on Thora's Vengeance and other future expansions.
What this looks like is that the castles are coming out before Thora's Vengenance. It also seems that castles will be coming out earlier than expected if Sandra's release date for Thora's Vengenance is right for July 9.
EDIT: It seems with current evidence that Thora's Vengenance is coming out before castles since castles have been post poned to August. What a shocker!

I'm kind of glad castles are coming out first. I can't afford a lot right now, so this should give me time to build up the Heroscape Fund.

what an excellent idea. that's how i "discovered" the Raknar and Thaelenk information in early Feb...by checking www.heroscape.com ;)
this is exciting news. Castles before wave 5 !!
so that makes Castles what?...wave 4.75 :)

Excellent Su_Nan. Thanks for sharing that tidbit of information.
I'd be very surprised (and oh so giddy) if the castles arrive June or July. I find it hard to believe they would be so close in release to Wave 4.5 considering its total absence from the HS hotspot stores.
And from the tone of the response, the correspondent didn't sound all that sure of their information?

That is what confuses me. Hasbro makes the stuff and is telling me that the castles are coming out before Thora's. It doesn't matter what Sandra says since she has to get them from hasbro. In fact, I addressed the idea that Thora's Vengenance was schedule for release in July at an online shop and Hasbro's response is quite clear. If you guys want something more in depth why don't we all get Sandra to email hasbro about this since her, being a seller of their product, would be able to get more in depth information.

Personally, I can be patient - figures I have, but castles...

thanks for taking the initiative on that Su Nan. For me personally its nice to know that castles and thora's are still a little off in the future as I have yet to land even one of the snow sets yet. I find it interesting though that they said they do not know exactly which figures they will be packaging in Thora's...does that mean there may be figures that were not on "THE SHELF" included in the set? or that some of the figures on "THE SHELF" will not be included ...but maybe saved for another wave?? interesting.

Read the customer support guy's email again:

Unfortunately, we do not have any information on exactly which figures are coming in Thora's Vengeance. I think it much more likely that this guy was using the word "we" when he should have meant "me".
Do you guys actually believe that Hasbro (meaning, the designers) have NO INFORMATION about Wave 5 units?
The Shelf is months old - they were already displayed - they aren't still working on this expansion, guys - it's ready to ship from a design standpoint, I guarantee it.
Just because this customer service guy doesn;t know anything doesn;t mean much - I would fully expect Hasbro to keep him in the dark, from what I've seen of their business practices and communication channels.

I'm sure the designers know the status of wave 5. Hasbro may be a little reluctant to give dates because of how inaccurate they have been in the past.

If this response came from Chris at Customer Relations then I would bet he is telling all that he can not all that he knows. From what we could tell with the Questions for Hasbro thread at HQ, Chris has a decent amount of contact with Craig and Rob.

I remember way back when in the .NET hey days.... I had posted something about a bad set I bought. He contacted me and took care of the issue. I won't say what he did because I see CONSPIRACY everywhere and I am convinced the CORP ASS CLOWNS are still watching the boards. Let's say he resolved the issue in a very timely manner.

At what point does the Boy Who Cried Wolf syndrome come into play, and Hasbro loses whatever credibility and trust they have with their fanbase for this game?
Do they REALLY think this will lead to more money for them?

actually, the timing of when character pages appear on the website are not a reliable indicator of when the product will be released.
i remember Jandar's Oath was in stores for over a month before they got around to posting character pages for JO on the web site.
but it didn't matter because we had pictures of the JO army card stats ahead of their release because they were displayed at last year's GenCon.

actually i have noticed some changes that are transparent to the average viewer. some of the URLs have chaged on older pages. they have been streamlining things a bit and making the pages less image intensive and more data driven. by that i mean that the wording on all character pages is now an overlay, rather than being imbedded in the page images like they had been. makes for much easier maintenance. and for quicker setup of the new expansions.
there are also a few new pics of figs that are on the server but not incorporated in the pages yet. this Mimring pic is fairly new but not part of the Mimring page yet.
http://www.hasbro.com/heroscape/images/characters/41_primary.jpg
my guess is they are getting ready to drop the rotating Flash animations that are currently on the older character pages (prior to Jandar's Oath).

There are two good reasons for Hasbro to tell me (more or less) accurate release dates:
1) They want me to "firm up" my order
2) They want to make sure my checks have time to clear the bank before the product arrives.
Those seem like good incentives to "keep me in the loop". And because I want to ship as much as I can as soon as the order arrives, that's a good incentive to keep you "in the loop".

I'd like to take this moment to remind people that the exact dates are generally hard to determine. When Orm's Return came out, Cardhaus received their shipment straight from the dock it arrived to here in Seattle. Which meant that I had my product before the designers even knew it was in the country or had received their "advance" product. Boy, that was a fun flurry of posts and im's I got after I posted those pictures.
Sing it with me ...those were the days... :drunk: Oddly, since then, Cardhaus has been behind even retail stores on getting things in. When I asked them about Thora's Vengeance, they said they should be putting it up for preorder soon. We'll see. They are the retail division of http://www.ggdistribution.com/ you would think they could get product.
I'm not trying to defend anyone or deny that the distribution of Heroscape has generally fallen into a dark pit of despair. If there is product in warehouses, it is truly sad it isn't working to get on store shelves. I guess those brand new supersoakers (http://www.hasbro.com/default.cfm?page=ps_results&product_id=17359) need the space.
Personally, I'm beginning to think that Sandra has paid Hasbro thousands of dollars to hold back product from anyone but her. I'm sure that the orders she gets off of this site easily make up for the bribe money.
But maybe I'm just happy because my housemouse order came today :D

It would be great if both were right :D From Sandra's info, Thora's Vengeance should be received by her around July 9. She hasn't gotten word of a ship date for the castle (please correct me if I'm wrong), so the safe assumption is that the castle will come after TV.

well if i remember right from HQ, Sandra's Hasbro rep told her Raknar and Thaelenk wouldn't be out until late July after Castles and Thora.
but many of us doubted that because 1) the character pages for them were already on the Hasbro website and 2) the packaging for them at the Toy Fair looked like a finished product, whereas the Castle box looked like a prototype (slapped together) and there was no packaging shown for the Thora figs.
and it turns out her rep was wrong about Raknar and Thaelenk.

After waiting weeks for the store release of Thaelenk Tundra & Heroes of Lindesfarme to come out. I found 1 T.T. set at the Target down the street. No one knew if any more were coming out, and when I checked all the other store in the area no luck. As far as the stuff (I mean any set) hitting the store on time, It's anyones guess
I have preordered from Housemouse and gotten it before friends who have ordered from Hasbro.
