Hey all - just starting this thread now for post-tourney discussion, pictures, smack-talk and other frivolity. Please post your post-tourney banter here rather than in the original tourney thread.

What happen? Everyone beat the tar out of each other… no one left to post any results or battle reports? It’s after 8 PM out there and nothing posted here or at your original thread yet! I would have thought one or two people would have at least posted by now…. I will try to wait patiently for some results.

I played a Nilfheim, 3 x 4th Mass, and Krav army. I ended up with 3 complete wins (all 500 points eliminated in all 3 games) and 1 loss.
(WIN) ROUND 1- I played against a 4th Mass x2, Gilbet, Alistair, knights x2 army
My Krav went down surprisingly early and Nilfheim took out slightly over 100 points or so before dying. My 4th Mass attacked Gilbert for prob 30 mins before killing him due to all the shields he rolled. After Nilf died things looked poorly but my 4th Mass saw me through. In the end it came down to my 3 or 4 4th Mass with height vs his 2. He retreatd, I charged and won with 2 or 3 left.
(WIN) ROUND 2- I played vs an army that had Marros, DW9k, AE, Krav, Carr.
This battle went quickly. Their AE never dropped. My Krav died semi early on but the Marros and his Krav died quickly due to Nilf and my Krav. The game ended when my Nilf flew adjacent to his DW9k and killed him with Nilf's 6 dice attack. Nilf didn't take a single wound and I ended up having roughly 320 or so point remaining
LOSS (Round 3)- I played vs a Kozuke Samurai, Izumi Samurai, Raelin, Kelda, Q9.
This basically came down to Q9 vs Nilfheim. The key moment in the game came when Nilf with height attacked Q9. I inflicted 3 wounds- was 1 blank skull from killing him in that 1 attack. Then Kelda went over and healed him. Unfortunately from this point on Q9 rolled 4-6 per shields per roll. With Q9 averaging almost 5 shields rolled per defense things turned out poorly for me. I managed to kill Kelda and the Kozuke Samurai but that was it. The match ended on time although most of my army had been defeated. With 1 more skull earlier the game would have turned out 100% opposite since they would have been left with only izumi, Raelin, and Kelda. (I knew it was a bad sign when early in the game Q9 attacked my Krav with1 die each and rolled skulls on his 1st 5 attempts thereby killing the 2 in range.)
WIN (Round 4)- I played vs Su Bak Na, Kee Mo Shi, 2 x MicroCorp
-Once against this game my Krav died extremely early. My Nilf then proceeded to take down Keemoshi, 4-5 microcorp, and inflicted 4/5 wounds on Su Bak Na. My 4th Mass inlicted the last wound to Su Bak Na nd the last agent. This game for me was similar to Round 2 where I was in command for the large part of the game.
**Overall the army pleased me. I only lost 1 time and it easily could have gone the other way. The Krav died surprisingly quickly in all 4 games. Nilfheim was quite good and the 4th Mass were as expected. I'd love another shot at that Q9 army that I lost to. I was hoping to play an Orc army but sadly that was not meant to be
****I just wish the scoring went differently. I was only 5 or 6 with 3 complete wins (eliminate all 500 points in the opponents army) yet in overall points finished behind some with only 1 500 point complete win due to the game where their Q9 took out my Nilfheim and then took out my army. I wished there was a bonus for eliminating the opponent's entire army since that was the main objective

ASmiles came in 1st. Someone who is not a member of this board came in 2nd! Oh, the shame of it all.
It went 4 rounds and I came in 10th with a score of 1760 and an army of Q9, Laglor, Raelin and Krug.
In my last round Robbo and I had an epic battle of the krugs. Both of us had Krugs supported by Raelins. There was no room for maneuver and neither of our krugs had much in the way of injuries so we just kept pounding on each other to pretty much no avail. Finally I was able to get around Robbo's Krug and pick up some damage before returning and ridding the world of the other Krug. In the interim he killed my Laglor and Raelin. I think the rest of his army was Syvarris, Kelda and Chomper. I dispatched them all and finished with only my Krug with 5 wounds on him.

I'll do a longer post soon (must get sleep - big day tomorrow). But overall an AWESOME tourney. 46 players IIRC. I came in like 7th or 9th or something like that with the three amigos army: Braxas, Q-9 and Drake. Two wins and two close losses (355 and 455 pts in the losses).
Prize table was overflowing, great socializing, the kids had a scream at the kids' tourney, lots of teamwork and volunteers made it all flow. OPrime and I could never have done it without everyone who came early and stayed after to get the job done.
Like I said, more to come. Looking forward to the pix!

All I can say was it was a complete blast.
My army (AE, Carr, Marro Warriors, DW9K, Krav) lost miserably to Stealth Dodge and had an epic battle with an army of DW8K, Mimring, Nakita and Red Flag of Fury Flag Bearer.
I was 1 and 3, but didn't really have high hopes for my army... I just wanted to have an all Master Set army.

Rule of Irony #1: To call oneself the Emperor of the Ocean State, even in jest, is to invite complete and utter disaster.
I lost every game I played. The army I had was solid: 2xMass, 2xKnights, Sir Gil, and MacDirk. My thinking however was not solid, and my die rolls were worse. Seriously. There was one match where I couldn't hit anything. Another turn I couldn't roll any shields. Even my opponents, while loving my misfortune, were saying things like "geez dude."
Despite that I had fun. Pilgrim and OPrime know how to run a tourney and it went as smooth as can be. Everybody had a blast and I can't wait for the next one. Thanks gents!
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some plastic men to put to the torch.

When I played you in Round 1, Gilbert was a Defensive Machine blocking my 4th Mass attacks like they were shooting paper. Alistair on the other hand had the opposite experience.

Too true! That display by Gilbert was the best thing that happened to me. I meant to look for you and tell you that after our match Gilbert took every blow that came his way. Ask B:T:L Matt's girlfriend about the Gorillinators that took him to school. :) You wouldn't have believed he was the same Gilbert.

I came in 3rd from last :( still had fun though. I had 2x Marrden Hounds, 2x Deathreavers (thats the rats right?), Ninjas and DW8000. 2 of my opponents had mostly soulborgs which ruined my plans with the hounds. My last opponent had all humans and my hounds plagued half of them to death. My prize donations seemed to bomb more than I did. The Fantastic 4 and PSP signs got claimed, and the kids dug through my pin box for a while, but no one wanted the PS3 stuff or many of the pins. Oh well. It was a great time and thanks to everyone that helped get it together. Now we need a tounament further north.

Congratulations to ASmiles for winning the tournament. You are a true tactician.
I won my first 3 matches fielding 4 Squads of 4th Massachusetts Line and Braxus. I squared off against ASmiles for the final battle who fielded Sir Denrick, Airborne Elite 2 Knights of Weston and 2 4th Massachusetts Line. ASmiles and I were the last two undefeated armies although many other players were extremely close in points.
ASmiles dropped the Airborne Elite on me in the first round and on turn number 1 placed 4 wounds on Braxas and destroyed 6 of my Minutemen. I then wiffed two out of three for Braxus' Poison Breath attack. Ouch! Not a good start.
ASmiles advanced steadily with Sir Denrick and his Knights, maximizing his bonding and movement bonuses. He is sharp as a tack.
I rallied a little bit where it came down to my one squad of 4th Massachusetts Line versus two of his, but I had height advantage. Unfortunately, ASmiles won initiative and made the rolls for the win with 5 remaining Minutemen.
Sadly, the loss dropped to 5th place with 1908 points out of 2000. Congratulations to Jeff (ASmile's friend's son), Ericpaperman and Tina for finishing 2nd, 3rd and fourth. I may have reversed Jeff and Ericpaperman's standing. If I did, I apologize. :)
Thank you to Pilgrim and Oprime for organizing an unbelievable tournament. Awesome job!
Constantine - great job on the kid's tournament. They all looked like they had a blast and congratulations to Moseby for winning it.
Mr. Bistro – good company on the commute and thanks for the help navigating the trek home. How many times did we have to turn around? lol
It was great to see a bunch a familiar faces and to meet some new ones. I can't wait for the next one!

I'd be willing to bet that more often than not your army would beat his lineup. It's amusing we had similar builds except you had a 4th squad of Mass and Braxas as opposed my 3 squads, krav, and Nilf.
**There were actually 3 undefeated armies after Round 3. Jeff did not eliminate my entire army though so my guess is that you 2 got that matchup due to having more total points

Congrats, ASmiles! It must have been tough coming up on top over a field of 46. I guess I haven't checked the battle reports section yet, but what army did ASmiles use? Also, mega props to those responsible for running the event...isn't 46 the largest Heroscape event to the date? Finally, how did the midwest representative fare? I've been waiting to hear how things went for Supergeek. Anyhow, sounds like it was a great event. Keep the news coming!
EDIT: I see the army of ASmiles now. I must have been writing when KMPags wrote his response.
SECOND EDIT: That's really cool that Denrick was in the winning army as well. It sounds like a really good choice too as it seems like there were many dragons and Krugs used.

OK, I'm not good at all at battle reporting, but I didn't win any games. That being said, this time I didn't come in last place! Woo hoo! In fact, if the most points one could have had was 2000, I ended up with 1008, so that is better than half, right?... Right? ... <tumbleweeds> ... <crickets> ...
My army was Major Q9, Minions of Utgar, 2 squads of Deathreavers, and 2 squads of Blastatrons.
Anyway, here's some pics... I am horrible at remembering names, so feel free to let me know who is who in the pictures if they are not already identified.

Wow where do I start..
Hope all had fun, I know theres still a few "bugs" but all in all went well.
We couldn't have done it without all the help from others, so I'll start there.
Thanks to KMPags and Bistro for headin the registration table. It went 100% smoother than the first one
Huge thanks to Curseyoukahn for running the kids tourny, he did a great job all the kids had fun.
Thanks to Asmiles, our scoring guru, he takes a realy big part of the tourny and works his magic...great to have him on the team.
Thanks to my partner in crime ,Pilgrim, we've deffinatly created a monster.
Thanks to all the people who helped build maps and clean up afterward
Thanks to Jim again for his awesome badges, which I used regularly throughout the day as I am terrible with names.....
Thanks to everyone who donated a prize,(you too Imax), that prize table was something to behold.
Now to my matches......well theres not much to tell. Its a good thing I like to organize these things ,cause I sure stink at the game
My army:
Sudema
Warriors of ashra x3
Ralien
Nakita agents
They went like 4-1 in play testing against some proven armys but tanked in the tourny...oh well
1) my first match was against Hack. He had orcs, end of story. Grimnak was well fed, I barely got outta my start zone.
2) My 2nd match was my best of the day. I was lucky enough to pull Servantofutgar as my opponent. we had a great match turning in favor of one another 2-3 times throughout the match...at the end though the orcs were no match for the Ashra's one shield and I squeaked out a victory(my only one of the day).
3)played Kahn, Krug,Q9, enough said.
step 1 move krug
Step 2 "Krug smash pretty lady"
step 3 return to step 1
4)my 4th match was against loborocket, again a good matchup and a fun game, we timed out but he had the upper hand toward the end. hes only been playin since Christmas , good to see some new faces.
ok sorry for any spelling errors or things I forgot, but I woke up w/ all this rattling around in my brain and had to get it out....back to bed now
and finally thanks to all for coming!!! it was a blast.

I actually had Gilbert, not Dendrick. Although he would have been a good choice too, as I was up against a dragon in every one of my matches. The one match where I wasn't facing a Braxas, I was against both Charos and Mimring.
Let me get the stats posted and then I'll write some about my army.

Here's a summary of the most popular units (multiple commons only counted once per army):
10 - Raelin
8 - Q9
7 - 4th Mass
6 - Braxas & Krav Maga
5 - Mimring
4 - Knights, Sir Gilbert, Airborne Elite, Marro Warriors, Carr, Drake, DW8K, Me-Burq-Sa
3 - Kelda, Ne-Gok-Sa, Laglor, Nakita, Charos, Krug, Grimnak, Reavers
2 - Izumi, Kozuke, Romans, Su-Bak-Na, Hounds, Gorillas, Syvarris, Heavy Gruts, Microcorp, Nilf, Tarn, DW9K, Kee-Mo-Shi, Minions, Eldgrim, Ornak, Saylind
I was suprised there were so few Minions and 'Trons. They seemed to be everywhere in the last tourney.
There were 4 almost identical armies. Gilbert, Knights x2, Mass 4th x2 + 115 points. I went with the AE, but also played were Drake, Alastair, and Concan/Eldgrim.

OPrime makes a good point. Asmiles, your scoring and match-making was fantastic. As a participant I never even stopped to think about what was going on behind the scenes. If you struggled with it, none of us had the faintest idea. You did a great job.
And Jim, your nametags made a big difference too. Big, easy to read, and it was nice seeing people's 'Scaper handles too.

Thanks. There were a few minor glitches, but considering the number of participants and the time between matches, I think it went pretty well. Things were a little more freestyle at the first beatdown, but lots of things need to be streamlined now that we've got the numbers we do.

Onto my matches....
First off, Pilgrim and OPrime ruled that my 4th Mass would get their Valiant army bonus before the AE dropped and then again after they all died. In reality it made little difference. The latest the AE arrived in any of my matches was the 3rd round and they were often all dead by the time the Mass got into the fray. I may have made 3 or 4 defense rolls the whole day without using the bonus.
I'd to thank my opponnents. They all played very well (finishing 4th, 5th, 8th & 9th) and provided me some interesting challenges. I'd like to think that I won purely on skill, but the dice were treating me very kindly.
The AE dropped early and were usually very effective, taking out much more than their cost. In first match they were able to drop close to the Krav and eliminate the stealth dodge bonus. In my third match they took out Mimring and hit Charos with 3 or 4 wounds before dieing. In the finals, they dropped on the first try and managed to hit Braxas with 4 wounds and take out 6 Mass Soldiers with their grenades.
While I have used the Knights in each of the first 2 tourneys, I didn't have much experience playing with Gilbert. While the bonus movement spaces were nice, what I discovered was the most useful, was being able to cross a river in one turn. When the knights bond with Gilbert, his movement bonus moves the Knights into the river and then the Knights move out the other side of the river to attack. Without the bonus, crossing the river becomes a wasted order marker.
Overall I had a great time. My only regret was that I didn't get a chance to socialize as much, as I was shuffling through the score cards between each round.

Ok for what it is worth here is my report. I did not win any matches but still had a huge amount of fun. My score, record and army was as follows.
1230 0-2-2 loborocket - AE, Krav, Tarn, Raelin, Ne-Gok-Sa, 4th Mass
First match vs. KMPags - Braxas, 4th Mass
My AE dropped on the first round and I won innitiave. The granades did some damage to the 4th Mass and a bit to Braxas. They managed to suevive maybe another round or 2 but it was pretty nuch down hill from there. Braxas tok out my Krav in one attack. The Vikings in another couple. I had done some damage to Braxas while his 4th Mass was getting positioned. My army was pretty much gone when I mindshackled Braxas, but he only had one life left and went down before I could use him.
2nd Match vs. Bobbo - Braxas, Raelin, Brunak, Krav
The dice gods were not with me this game AE didn't drop til the 5 round or so.By this time it was already too late. Most of my army had been taken out by Braxas (again). Still managed 185 points mostly from damage to Braxas.
3rd Match vs. Imperium x2, Kiova, Raelin, Marro
AE dropped the first round and tried to granade the Imperium in the start zone but they get all kinds of extra defense rolls (not familiar with these guys so I am not really sure what was going on, all I know is I only killed one. Managed to ties them up with Krav and Vikings till time ran out. Scored 3xx in points but was just about down to my last 4th Mass and Ne Gok-Sa when time ran out.
4th Match vs. OPrime - Sudema, Ashra x3, Raelin, Nakita
I actually faired ok here. We both stepp to the center of the map and started working away. Ne-Gok-Sa and Sudema were in a battle of the d20 abilities. My AE dropped 3 rounds in and used granades to take out the Nakitas. We kept chipping away at each other til time ran out. I ended up with the upper hand in points finishing with 400-450 zone.
Overal a very fun day for my son and I. We will be back again if Pilgrim and Oprime decide to do it again. This time with more experience and probably a few more characters to select fromfor our armies. My son already added Samuris and Ninjas from the prize table!

Ok, for starters, I have tons of pictures, and I will be posting them as soon as I can.
The tourney was awesome, and Oprime and Pilgrim were awesome. Bistro, and KMPags did a great job as well with registration, Jim did an excellent job with the name tags, and ASmiles did a really good job at organizing the scores.
As you may have seen in the results, I fielded Laglor, Q9, Nakitas, and Gorillas, My record was 2-2-0 and I placed 6th.
The first battle was going well in my favor, as the battle was nearing its end, I had Q9 with 2 wounds, Laglor with 0 Wounds, 2 Nakitas, and 1 Gorilla against Rookie's woundless Agent Carr (his army was Grimnak, Carr, Marro warriors, 2xMinions). He thought the match was mine seeing the difference in numbers, but it mattered not, for Rookie ended up taking the win with Carr having only 1 life point left. His 6 attack dice (often getting 4-5 skulls) were no match for my consistent bad rolls.
My 2nd match was against Garvin (he had Mimring, DW9k, Raelin, Tarn, Zettians). This match was back and forth, but his Mimring and Dw9k made short work of my nakitas and gorillas. I pinned Laglor between two trees to protect him with blockage on line of sight from Mimring and Dw9k. It was Major Q9 who actually ended up defeating Garvin's entire army. Laglor, nakitas, and gorillas had made attacks, but none ever destroyed or wounded anyone. It was Q9 who did it all, and his saving grace was having a range of 10 due to laglor, and attacking at 5, defending at 8 with height advantage.
My 3rd match was against my girlfriend (she had Braxas, Carr, Krav, Gorillas), so we knew our tactics already which made the match go quickly. Basically she won the match, I wasted too much of my army trying to take down the black queen, Braxas. What also helped to sway the match in her favor was when she took away my range enhancement when she poison-breathed my woundless Laglor. Also, knowing each others tactics, she knew already to go straight for Q9 so I couldn't allow my money-maker to do much. She had me well disoriented, forcing me to constantly change my tactics, I made some stupid errors like not rolling for smoke powder 3 times, not rolling for engagement strike once, and rolling a queglix attacks at the kravs with 3 dice when I should've been rolling 9 attacks of 1 die.
My 4th match was quite an epic one. It was against pilgrim (who had Braxas, Q9, and Drake). Literally for the first 15 minutes no one was making any kills or wounds. We were matching each others skulls with the exact amount of shields, it should'vce been filmed. Then the showdown came... My Q9 against his Q9... There we were, returning wounds to each other, and his Q9 eventually went down leaving mine with 3 wounds. His braxas was making short work of the nakitas, and gorillas. Then began showdown 2. Q9 against braxas... I was able to defend against her attacks, but would damage her with 2-3 wounds per turn. Laglor was also pegging her off with his Auto Reload special attack, and the angered beast poison-breathed my Laglor. Q9 ended up defeating Braxas. As Drake began to charge toward Q9, I consistently ran backward laying into him with my queglix attacks. I was Victorious.
For me, the man of the matches was by far Q9. He carried the team with support from Laglor and did his damage and then some. Q9 is by far one of the deadliest characters in the Heroscape world.
Also, a side note... For all the wives or girlfriends that might not take an interest in Heroscape, or think they might lose every match and feel embarassed, just remember my girlfriend placed 4th out of 36 contestants. She got to take Infinity Max's "tall" dice tower as a prize... By the way Imax, your dice towers are superb and the artwork is amazing. My girlfriend loves hers... Also Imax, if you're reading this, I'd like to buy one for myself or if you want a trade, let me know...

Congratulations to ASmiles for winning the tournament. You are a true tactician.
Did anyone mention he did the scoring and matchpicking? Tactician indeed... jk
So I came into the fourth round feeling like I had a decent place in the standings. Well, due to a skilled opponent (Matty) and the most terrible, horrible dice rolls of my normally terribly horrible dice rolls, my army of Charos, Denrick, Crixus and Saylind was defeated. The ONLY scoring on my side was that Charos got the lady Krav Maga. That's right - round 4 brought in a whopping 33 points for me. :x
All in all though it was a great time and once again Bobbo and I got lost on the way back to NH. As difficult as this may seem to understand, traveling north can be very confusing! It was a great day and I have a new found respect for one of the best participants at the tourney. Without this participant I think we would have all been a little less happy and a little hungrier. That's right, your friend and mine, Doritos. Also...
For all the future Braxus-slayers out there, observe that Poison Breath is a Power and not an Attack thus, even when engaged, Braxus may still destroy full-health Crixus even though Charos is clearly engaging him. No no no, no bitterness here friends. :D Just kidding! Lol!
Great day, great time, we'll have to do it again sometime. Maybe I'll consider (gulp) ranged figures... just maybe...

First of all hats off to Pilgrim and OPrime!!!
A pat on the back to all of those who helped out.
What a great time! I lost every game I played but every game was good.
My favorite game of the day was against OPrime. like he said, the battle ebbed and flowed nicely.
My army (Mimring, 8K, MeBurqSa, Ornak, H. gruts) was really fun to play. It would play well as the ranged assault force ahead of a mean ol Horde-O-Orc. Add B. grutsX2 Grimnak, Tornak, Nerak for a total of 850.

Jim! Thanks for the pictures, they are great, but picture 17 is from the first SSMASH tourney at the vets office!
It was a pleasure playing you in the first round... would have been nice to be able to finish that match as there was a lot left to play!

These are the matches I played, as best I can recall.
I fielded:
4th Massx2
Knightsx2
Alistair MacDirk
Sir Gilbert
#1
My first match was against Stealth Dodge, whose army consisted of 4th Massx3, Nilfheim, and the Krav Maga. This was the best I did in the whole tournament. Our armies were evenly matched and we both made some smart moves. Sir Gilbert was the star for me in this match, taking shot after shot from the 4th Mass. I literally think he got shot every round after the first, but didn't go down until the very end. I was able to kill the Krav early with my knights and MacDirk. And Nilf followed soon after. But Stealth Dodge was good about systematically taking out units. I fought my way to his starting zone, but he turned the tide, and I ended up retreating back to my starting zone. I had two 4th Mass left, and he had three. His three charged mine and won the day. It was a fun game.
#2
My second match was against the killing machine that is B:T:L Matt's girlfriend. My luck in this game got so ridiculous that it had me laughing (through the tears). She had one squad of Gorillinators, Braxas, Krav, and Agent Carr. The 'nators got height in the middle of the board quickly, and proved to be my undoing. That one unit was responsible for the majority of the deaths in my army. I think I killed one of them. One of those little monkies proved to be completely immune to physical damage, shrugging off countless attacks. When I couldn't kill the 'nators I lost focus, and my opponent kindly reminded me why I shouldn't have ignored the rest of her army. When my last few 4th Mass retreated to the safety of some ruins, Agent Carr, who hadn't been activated once during the entire game, calmly walked across the board and dispatched them with little effort. Ow.
#3
After that beating I was matched up with Pilgrim who had Q9, Braxas, and Drake. This game went so poorly for me that I never saw Drake peer out from the ruins he started behind. I expected Pilgrim to move his army together as a group, so I foolishly split my army to move around a lake. But Pilgrim only sent forth Braxas who took out the majority of the first half of my army. By the time I responded and killed Braxas it was too late. The damage was done, and Q9 came in for the clean-up. Well played!
#4
After being kicked in the teeth several times in a row, I was finally matched up with Rich, a friend of ASmiles. Rich's army was Me-Burq-Sa, Marcus Gallus, IX Legion x1, Theracus, and Raelin. I thought "Perfect! I can take this one." Folly! I charged into the fray only to discover my dice were broken. Seriously, I think scored 4 wounds the entire game. Of course I lay all blame on the dice and not my forgetting the Shield Wall rule (which when combined with Raelin's ability meant my knights were attacking Roman's made of solid rock). Rich, despite his cheerful claims to the contrary, was a very capable general, and soon reintroduced me to the world of hurt that had come to be my close personal friend that evening. Ouch again.
Despite being a punching bag all tournament, I really had a lot of fun. I got to meet some more great folks, and got to re-visit with some I met before. I was really glad I got to finally meet Jim, Bobbo, and the B:T:L couple. Plus it was cool to finally play Pilgrim.

Also if Pilgrim, Oprime, Asmiles, or who ever would be appropriate ( after you caught your breath from Saturday ) could respond to a question on my thread

The devil duckies are really quite impressive figures. They have 9 attack and defense dice. Unfortunately they have no range and no movement and don't take sides in fights anyway.

Our scoring system:
1. You only score points for what you destroy
2. If you completely eliminate your opponent you get 500pts, even if your opponent was less than 500pts in actual figs.
3. Points are counted per figure for squads and per wound for heroes. So, eg., every Krav is worth 33 poitns and every hit on Q9 is worth 45 pts.
Pairings: Swiss style
So everyone plays a round, then scores are compiled highest to lowest. top two players play each other, third and fourth, on down. After round two, scores again retabulated and top two play each other, etc. The only exception is that you're never allowed to play same person twice.
Adam did a TREMENDOUS job tabulating and pairing a very large tourney. Probably the major improvement we could have made to the tourney would have been to provide him some program or excell spreadsheet or something that would organizing the scores top to bottom.
Also, after each round players filled out their score cards and posted their scores on the big board. That helped Adam so all he had to do was organize the score cards by cumulative point value and making pairings. But even that was a task given that the had to sort three dozen cards, plus there's always a game or two that goes long so you're waiting for those final two cards to come in . . . . . But like I said, he did fantastic with what we had to work with.
Adam - any thoughts on the scoring/pairing?

Pilgrim our scoring system is different, but as far as keeping a running total and sorting the players cards that was similar to what we do. The good news is they could be sorted as they came in. When the the last table or two finished you just had to put those two or four cards in order and then our Tournament Director just pull the top two cards and that was a pairing then the next two and so on and so on untill he was down to the last two. His only decision to make was to review the maps they both played on and try to put them on a new map or one they haven't played more than once.
I can appreciate the effort that you guys put into this tournament, and as I said above you must have done good as you have lots of good comments by everyone.

I know various tournament holders have different methods of scoring points, but I like the method Pilgrim and Oprime use. Plus if not for Asmiles always being on top of the scoring, things could've been a bit more hectic, so kudos to all 3 of you, and kudos to curseyoukhan for handling the entire kids tournament.
Infinity Max, I posted earlier stating that my girlfriend won your "tall" dice tower. She loves it and she actually used it today when we played 2 games of Heroscape. I'd like one for myself so I was wondering if I could buy one unless you wanted to trade for something. Whatever method you'd like, I'm willing to comply. Get back to me when you can...

Ok, I'll add my thoughts. My army was Braxas, Raelin, Brunak and the Krav, and I placed 7th with 1837 points, or something like that.
Round 1:
My first round was against Chaddy, whom I have determined is going to be my arch nemesis. Last tourney I went to he handily beat me with a bunch of Sentinels that I had no answer for, so I based my army solely around avoiding that kind of problem in the future. Ironically enough, my first battle is against the person that I tooled my army to beat, and of course he had a completely different army :( He played Charos, Drake, Guilty and Mimring. I started the same way I started every other game. Brunak carried Raelin to the staging area, and Braxas and Krav did all the killing.
Well, that was the plan anyways. I got a suckerpunch on Guilty and took him out with the Krav, but Mimring stayed at range and firelined Raelin to death, and proceeded to wound Braxas 4 time or so before dying. Gah! Then, Drake and Charos came out, and I didn't really have any way to hit either of them. Drake stood up to about 3 acid breaths, and eventually Charos closed with Brunak. I was way behind on points, and moved Braxas to attack Drake. Jokingly I said, "Now all I need is to roll all skulls on my attack and have you wiff defense, and I'll be back in this!" My roll, 4 out of 5 skulls. Defense, wiff. Drake down to one wound  He mops the rest of my guys up, and I come off with a loss and 337 points.
Round 2
My second round was against loborocket on the table of giants. He played the AE, Krav, Tarn, Raelin, Ne-Gok-Sa and the 4th Mass. I moved Brunak up to block the lower pass and dropped Raelin up top. Then the Krav and Braxas came up and proceeded to eat his entire army. I'd like to attribute my win to sheer tactical brilliance, but seriously lobo had the worst string of rolling I have ever witnessed. The only figure of his that ever made a defense roll was Ne-Gok-Sa the entire game. His AE took 5 rounds to drop, and when they did all 4 threw grenades at the Krav, which I conveniently left all bunched up (doh!) Well, all three came through 12 grenade hits, and killed three AE on their turn (when lobo rolled for defense for the AE, all 8 dice came up skulls instead of shields). The Tarn couldn't penetrate Brunak's hide, so they died to gunshots and acid from the top of the hill. Braxas snuck by Ne-Gok-Sa and killed the 4th Mass in the starting zone, but was killed by Ne-Gok-Sa, who had failed about a million attempts to shackle her. He died to ranged fire, giving me the win for 500 points.
Round 3
My third round was a little strange. It was against Dave (which is also my name) and he fielded the same army as me, except he had Drake instead of Brunak. Our armies moved up cautiously, while the two Braxases (Braxui?) moved to the middle. I lined up an acid breath on two Krav and Raelin. After the acid cloud clears... I killed nobody. Next attempt, one Krav  next attempt, another Krav. He flies Braxus up and targets my Raelin and two Krav, after the dice fall, everyone is dead . Man, I was a little worried. Well, my Braxas took that as a challenge and melted Drake, and flew down and decided to snack on Raelin before falling. Brunak was able to easily defeat his severely weakened Braxas for the win.
Round 4
Round 4 was against Rookie and his Grimnak, Minions x2, Carr, Marro army. The board we played on was a long with a river running up the middle, which was really bad for him since I had all the range. Basically, acid took out all the Minions and Marro, and shooting took out Grimnak and Carr. I lost a Krav to a chomp because I apparently can't count spaces or something, but other than that it was pretty bloodless. I think each of my heroes took a wound, so calculating the points he earned was pretty difficult. (210/8 + 110/3 + 100/3 + 80/5 = ... forget it.) Next time I resolve to only take figures whos wounds divide evenly into their points.
Overall, I had a great time. It was awesome to meet new people, and reconnect with the people that I saw 6 months ago. I took home a wave 6 hero pack as a prize, which was great because they apparently don't exist up in New Hampshire. Then Bistro had to go and rain on my parade by reminding me that the money I spend on gas getting there could have ordered me all of wave 6 online. But I had fun anyways.

I'll chime in with my experience and matches.
Experience: fantastic! Pilgrim and Oprime did a great job organizing and hosting this event. Everyone was friendly and social and I think they, Oprime and Pilgim, really set the tone for everyone. The greeters, KMPags and mrbistro, also played a part in that in giving everyone a warm welcome (you can't beat a good first impression). And I'll add another huge cheer for Asmiles for conducting the scoring, what a great job.
Matches: I finished 11th (barely missing one of those dice towers, curse you curseyoukhan!), and brought Grimnak, Krug, Kelda, Raelin, and Syvarus.
Match #1, opponent Neurosion. He had some guys I hadn't seen before, 2 squads of the Imperium and their leader Kiova, along with some clones and Raelin. The clones came out first and beat up Raelin and Grimnak pretty good before Chompy ate them all. At this point Kelda basically gave me a do-over when I rolled a 20 to heal Raelin and then took a few wounds off of Syvarus and Grimnak (I think). Half of the Imperium came up next and I rolled well enough for Grimnak to survive and he ate most of them before dying. The second group of Imperium chose to go after Krug, but I rolled well and he took them out. At this point Neurosion had Raelin and Kiova take cover, but Syvarus hunted them both down just before time ran out.
Match #2, opponent KMPags. Pags had 4 sets of Mass 4th and Braxas. Images of Grimnak gorging himself on the citizens of Concord and Lexington danced in my head. But that was not to be. In the very first turn I was careless and walked Syvarus out far enough to pick off one Masshole. In the same turn the Mass 4th charged out and shot him down, unprotected by Raelin and before Kelda could heal him. Without any range I figured I had better charge Grimnak and Raelin, but the Mass 4th waited until they could see the whites of both their eyes and shot them both down. With only Krug and Kelda left, having done nearly no damage to Pags, I hid behind a wall like any sane coward would do. Braxas showed up and Krug took him down at a high cost. Kelda couldn't heal enough and the Mass 4th overwhelmed them both.
Match #3, opponent Matty. Matty had Q9 and Laglor (I would see them again in the next match) and 2 sets of agents (Krav, Microcorp). The map was a long thin strip, and at first I thought it would be to my total disadvantage due to Q9's range. But in reality it was like a perfect chute to launch Grimnak and later Krug right into his agents. Grimnak ate 4 or 5 of them before dying, along with my Raelin and Syvarus. The game was still up in the air when Krug came flying down the chute and survived Q9's attack long enough to kill him and then finish Laglor and the last Microcorp.
Match #4, opponent Constantine. Constantine talked about this in another post, where we both had Krugs (he also had Q9, Laglor, and Raelin) and they were stalemated. I'd never been in such a position before, where 3 or 4 turns went by without any significant damage or movement. But finally I cracked and lost Syvarus and Raelin. My Krug managed to kill off his Laglor and Raelin, and by this time both of our Krugs were very angry. I still had Grimnak and Kelda in my starting zone, he had nothing left. His Krug proved the better angry troll and killed mine. And then Kelda and Grimnak faced the true power of an angry Krug, each dying swiftly even though they began the battle undamaged.
I came home with heroes from Wave 4 (the prize table was awesome). Thanks to the organizers and my opponents for a great day.

I think they work well too.
I second that! Infinity Max, I really admired your dice towers as well. If you have any available to sell, I'd love to buy a couple from you. One for me and one for my son. Thanks again for donating them to the tournament.

My pleasure, Pags. I'm glad people liked them at the tourney. It was really cool to get to donate to a kids' tourney.
If you want to order a tower, you can go to the site:
www.vixentorgames.com
Pick out the ones you want, and then click the 'Order' button. Really, ordering consists of emailing me and telling me what you want, but the prices and everything are listed there.

OK - finally got a free moment here for a big post. First let me say this was truly a team effort. I did almost nothing on game day except walk around and assign tasks. There was a lot to do but it felt relatively easy because everyone pitched in. My only complaint was that I was so busy directing that I didn't get to hang with people as much as I had liked.
OPrime - What can I say? It's so much fun pulling these things off with you. You were the man with the original vision and look where it's gone! Looking forward to our next one . . . did I just say that?
ASmiles - stated earlier, but again what a phenomenal job you did on score keeping given the size and complexity of things. Loved my match against you in round 2. You were rolling hot, and I was not, but even if I had been rolling better it would have been very difficult to woop you. You are a top tier tactitian (how's that for alliteration?). Couldn't have lost to a nicer guy.
Constantine - GREAT job organizing and guiding the kiddos. They had a blast. Thank you for coming early and staying late. Sorry about the whole losing-your-title-to-Smiles thing.
Pags and Bistro - Thanks for running the registration table. That added some needed order and was a huge help to the new folks coming in. Pags, your customs are beautiful - the kids loved them. Bistro, so glad you haven't moved to VA yet. Sorry about the whole Braxas thing in round 3.
Egg and Hack - my possee - thanks for coming early and staying late. I think OPrime and I need to officially invite you to join S.S.M.A.S.H.
BTL Matt and Tina - Congrats on a 4th place finish Tina!!!! Matt - our final match was probably one of the funnest HS games I've ever played. I thought I was gonna have a coronary. High drama. Nothing better than a long fought HS match that comes down to an iniative roll.
Servant of Utgar - what a pleasure to meet you! Loved the custom terrain (I hope we got pix of that). Thanks for coming down south and look forward to gaming in the future with you.
Ninja and bro - As always, a delight to hang with you both. I regret we couldn't talk more but I was busy flying around playing host. Ninja - love the Conan tatoo. But you forgot the best line from that movie: "Conan, what is best in life?" "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, hear the lamantation of the women!"
Ericpaperman - He drives in from Albany, kicks our butts coming in 3rd, then drives home. Who was that masked man? You are officially banned from further Beantown Beatdowns. :P
Doustin - Thanks for making the trip down and for providing tons-o-swag. Hope you had fun.
Stealth - sorry about the hike! Good show in the tourney.
Neurosion - Great to see another board-gamer being sucked into the HS vortex. Nice to meet ya my man and hope we'll connect again.
Loborocket - glad we were able to talk you into coming with your son! I hope he had a great time. Looks like all the kids had a blast.
IMax - just chiming in with everyone else - your towers were INSANE and were gobbled up promptly by the winners. Thank you for your generosity. I wish you had been there.
To the woonsocket possee - great to see you all again, and to see your numbers are growing! Looking forward to the Woonsocket tourney. And thanks yet again for the two custom HS tables. That was above and beyond my friends.
Supergeek - WHERE WERE YOU!!!
Who am I missing? If I think of anything else to blabber on about, I'll make another post.

If you want a copy of the DCI software, I might be able to help.
I might take you up on that next tourney.
Also GB, I need to bring up a kind of sensitive topic. Not sure how to broach this. Lots of feelings involved here . . . . . .
We need a mod to make ASmiles title above his avatar say "Baron of Beantown" and, uh, change curseyoukhan back to just a regular title (site supporter or whatever it is).

Supergeek - WHERE WERE YOU!!!
Sorry man. :(
The only flight I could get would have gotten me there at something like 3:30 or some feldercarb and cost too much so, I got drunk.
I'm glad that you all had a good time and everything went well.
I will get out there for a tourney sometime.

Hey Matt and Jim.
This is a few days overdue, but thanks for posting the pictures of the day's events. It's great to have portions of the day captured with your photos.

no prob kmpags, I told pilgrim I'd help him with getting it visually documented for the website. I wish I could've taken pics of the prize holders but everyone kinda just grabbed their prize and walked off the front... Maybe next time...

Ditto. People chose their prize and mostly disappeared.
I wish I could've gotten more pictures of the games, but I was playing until the end. Maybe I should have just started beating people so I could finish and walk around more...

If anyone has pictures of Mosby, who won the kids tourney, and his prizes and/or his brother Phineas, who picked the autographed Heroscape box from the prize table, can you let me know? They would really like to see the pictures.
