It could be that the day has been long and I'm so very close to leaving work. But, as I listened to Rev talk, the first thought that entered my mind was...
"You know, Rev totally sounds like Santa Claus!"
:|
Aside from that, another great Cast. Even the cameo by James at the end was entertaining... though again, my amusement of his ranting could be due to the late hour.
Good to hear your voice, Rev. And yet another job well done by Troof! :D

Are there or will there be transcripts of this or other podcasts? I'm hearing impaired (completly deaf in my right ear, use a cochlear implant) and I have NO idea what the guys are saying without lips to read or subtitles to read over, but I can at least read along with a transcript if there is one so I know what the heck the jolly santa voice is saying and why the people are laughing.

I would not have all been surprised had that happened during the interview. I just would have nodded, and said, "Yes Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus."
And then Virginia would in turn look over at me from her desk with a quizzical glance arched upon her brow, with a slight pause before she retorts, "Uh, dude, I don't even know you."

I'm afraid that unless someone want to preform the long and tedious task then no, because I simply don't have the time myself.

As an atheist and life long geek, I’ve had far too many clashes with holier-than-thou religious folk who have disapproved of both my lack of belief and my appreciation for fantasy. Fortunately I have had good conversations with religious folk who were far more reasonable.
I want to thank Revdyer for being one of those who doesn’t see fantasy as anti-Christian and for making such a plain point. It’s a game, not a religion.
Thanks again Revdyer, and thank you Truth, for the great podcasts.

Welcome to the boards, AriWerd!
On behalf of our diverse and nonjudgmental community I extend to you a laurel and a hearty handshake.
Great 'cast again, Truth - I'm really enjoying them :)
And it was pretty neat to get the insight into the local 'Scape scene there, Rev.

The church would need divine assistance, though, IMax, and there might be monks throwing themselves off of cathedral towers! <ducking>
If you look carefully and squint a bit, you can see "our" tower in the front page picture, by the way.

If more preachers were like the honorable Rev Dyer, then more churches would tolerate folks like you and me. ;)
Just to be clear - that was meant as a jab at the close-mindedness of most organized religions as well as a sincere compliment for Rev Dyer. It was not meant as an insult to either InfinityMax or myself. :)

Guys, I'm pretty non-savvy when it comes to iTunes and iPods, so I'm gonna ask for a little help. I have subscribed to 'Scapetalk via iTunes on my PC (I don't own an iPod). I've tried to manually tell my subscription to check for new episodes, but it will not do this. I've gone to the iTunes store, but the latest episode is not appearing there yet. I downloaded the MP3 directly from the front page, but I can't get to import into iTunes.
What am I doing wrong?

OK you're not doing anything wrong. Ep 5 hasn't shown up yet in iTunes. Sometimes it can take a few days.
Now depending on how you have your playback set on MP3s the latest Ep should appear in iTunes so you can listen to it.
What I do under the Podcast setting is to have it check for new casts every hour.

As a Christian and an owner of a 56k modem, would really like it if someone could get or make a transcript of this. I sometimes have questions about Heroscape and my faith. My modem is way to slow to download it in any reasonable length of time, and I don't know any one who has anything faster. I would appreciate it extremely if someone could make even a simple transcript.

Okay, I started the transcript
I have done up to 8:35
Only 3:40 left, I got really bored.
Here is most of it, someone else can pick it up.

I do not apologize for bad grammar because that's not my fault! haha.

I think it is a real asset, the game wouldn't be the same without the site.
That is exactly how I feel. I can't imagine Heroscape whithout the community and vice versa anymore. Well said Rev

Thanks, Dragonslayer. I'm not sure it is particularly well said, but it certainly is true for me; the game and the site are so intimately connected, that I cannot imagine one without the other.
I hope this doesn't sound like a "suck-up," but I am very thankful for what truth has done here to increase my pleasure of a great game.

Another great episode. Thanks.
Truth: This is the first podcast my wife listened to, she is a gamer, not big on Heroscape though. Her first comment was: "I am surprised, this is really well done. That guy has some great interviewing skills".
Rev: I continue to enjoy and respect your insights; in written form in your posts and now verbally on the Podcast. Kathy was also surprised at the breadth and depth of the "HeroScape Fan Base" and enjoyed listening to your comments as well. She just may well be developing an interest in the game. :)

Rev you sound just like the voiceover, that I use in my head, when reading your posts. I have a great respect for your viewpoint,(Mad skills with the language.) and look forward to shaking your hand someday. I hope beyond hope that it will be at GenCon this year.
Thank you Truth, for another great show.

Very informative RevDyer. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to that pod cast. Your perspective on gaming and religion was very practical and praise worthy in my opinion.
My father is a minister (formerly an Apostolic preacher). Myself, I hold a BA in Chemistry and have loved fantasy/Scifi since my early childhood. Through my father's associations, I have witnessed many ingnorant views on gaming iconography and fantasy entertainment.
It was refreshing to hear your approach to fantasy gaming and its involvment concerning your professional environment. We share very similar views, or so it seems.
Thank you for renewing my faith in Christians and their ability to enjoy fantasy gaming/literature. It does my heart good to know that it can be intertwined in its intended way without always being about succumbing to Satan's plan, etc. etc. ad naseum. I have always believed it was the person or their associates that led them down a dark road, not simply traditional iconic mediums.
Have a great day, and a better tommorrow.

Thanks, Bixby, I share your wife's feelings about truth's abilities. He made doing the podcast very easy; and I am very glad that she may come to enjoy HeroScape the way we do.
Zodgilla, it is my sincere wish that we meet at GenCon. If all goes well with my health (next round of chemotherapy in March) I should be there with a hand out to shake yours.
Celtic_Ghost, thank you for the kind words. I couldn't agree with you more about the theological neutrality of the game.

RevDyer, it was great hearing you on the podcast. It's really refreshing to know that Heroscape isn't just a college kid's game- it extends across ages and people types, too. Listening to you explain how you viewed heroscape as an outlet and relaxing activity with the story of Apostle John and just telling it like it is (It's just a game!) with some right wings claiming foul, it was just really refreshing to know this game has someone like you. I hope all goes well for you in the future.
