View Full Version : No more Heroscape at Target?

Greetings all,
There was a recent thread regarding a clearance at Target stores on all Heroscape stock. Like most people I suspect, I paid a visit to my local Target to check what they had on the shelves and if any of it was on sale. Since the clearance thread appeared, I have not seen ANY Heroscape items on the shelves at my local Target. Yesterday, during another random check, I noticed that the Heroscape price tags had also been removed. Upon inquiry with a passing Target empoyee, I was told that "yeah, that means we're not stocking it anymore". Now this kind of response gives me a serious case of the irrits since it is obviously a minimalist approach to deflecting a customer. The guy in question hadn't heard of Heroscape until I mentioned it to him and he barely stopped walking long enough to answer my question. It did make me wonder though if there was any truth to his claim. It seems to fly in the face of logic however since, as far as I can tell, sales of Heroscape have never been better. Has anyone else noticed a lack of Heroscape inventory at their local Target store or know of any plans to stop carrying Heroscape altogether? Mind you, this is all based on one person who, perhaps more than likely, was talking through their posterior.

I noticed the exact same thing...almost empty HS shelf space, no price tags, etc., at the three Targets in my area (western PA).
I did not, however, ask a Target employee anything.

I went, there was a drones pack, and i didn't get it. Why WHY, ok well i didn't really want one set of drones and i'm looking more for other guys and i should watch my spending. But, I didn't chech the tags when I was there. I was planing to go today, to see if they restocked with some new goodies. I'll post back on what I find later today.

REMEMBER - this is inventory time. Stores are deliberately not restocking a lot of things as they work through that. Once they get done with inventory and re-arranging everything, then they'll restock stuff. I wouldn't assume anyone's dumping any product for good unless it's still gone in mid-February.

I was told by my local Target that Scape would be back on the shelves as soon as inventory was done (second week in January).

I've been there 4 times the past 2 weeks and everything else seems to be restocked (or close to) except the HS items. They have only a couple of wave 4 and a couple of master sets. I keep thinking wave 6 will replace the empty spaces but I guess not.

My target has heroscape stuff. It never even went on clearance there. There is also a new spot for Marvel Heroscape with the price tag already on the shelf next to the spots still reserved for the regular Heroscape stuff.

My local Target has very little in the way of HS stuff, and never has. They also never marked any of it down.

yeah, i just got a pack of Knights/Swog and Minutemen/Wolves at Target. I paid $9.94 + tax on each...no clearence for me
I did think the same as you, shadroth. Usually when something goes on clearance, especially at target (one or two past experiences) it means they will no longer be stocking it...

There is no clearance at my target either (western Pa) and they have about 6 full sets of wave 5 and more Orms than you can shake a stick at. A few castles and mastersets too.

I use to work at Target and after the holidays they normally clear toys out and then do an ad reset where they move everything around and bring in new stuff. I would wager that they will get more HeroScape stuff in when the new ad sets. I wouldn't be alarmed at the lack of stuff on the shelves at this point. Just give them a few weeks and it will return.

All the Targets in my area (Fredericksburg, Va) still have HS; however, the pickin's are slim. With the exception of the master set, I just got back from buying everything they had on the shelf...castle set, ice/snow pack, and some more minions.
You have to consider, stores are still recovering from the holidays. Christmas might be over, but all the gift-card recievers are out and shopping like mad. *points at self* Mmmmm...gift cards!
Give it a few weeks.

Well, "lack of stuff on the shelves" is something I'm quite accustomed to seeing. It was the sudden lack of price tags and the "we won't be carrying Heroscape anymore" comment from the employee that caused the slight state of alarm.

I will be one to vouch how hard it is for retail stores during this time. Give it time like everyone has said, Inventory sucks right now... but everything will calm down eventually.

It was like that for me at the local TRU. I went there one day and there was around 6 Castle sets, several 2.5 and 4.5, and a few wave 5 packs. I go back 3 weeks later, and there was nothing, not even the empty shelf space. As if they had never stocked it.
But I hope everyone is right and it's just the time of year, and in a couple of months I will walk in and see lots of heroscape.

The Targets in Waterloo & Mason City, Iowa were also cleaned out of Master Sets and almost everything else ( each store only had 3 or 4 wave 5 expansions ). To be fair it was not just Heroscape stuff... in general the game and toy selves & wall hooks were very empty... maybe 30% some aisles it was closer to 50%. I've never seen it so empty.
The good news is maybe we will see wave 6 & Tundra when they restock!

I work in retail and after christmas. Retailer have this little thing called RECONTRUCTION, cause they work on putting out christmas merchandise out for the season afterward they have to fix the store and put it back to normal especially TOYS, so they grab the stuff trow it in the back and slowly fix department by department. Until every department is back to normal. I personally saw this at my Target and said to myself to come back after the 1st, well I went back today and they have plenty of heroscape on the shelves. I also went to Walmart and they are still moving toys around. By the way no wave 6

I was in the local Walmart last night -- the toy section was a disaster. Half the shelves were empty, they were removing/changing shelves, boxes in the aisles, etc. There were papers taped on several empty shelves (didn't bother to read them all) saying what was going to be on the stocked there.
I figure just wait a few days and it may be back to normal.

Well in my area, Target is cleared out, but they seem to be working on redoing the shelves,
On the other hand, Wal-Mart is light years ahead. They've already restocked many of their toys, and even though they have like 5 sets of wave 5 and they've put their terrain expansions on sale, I can see they've set aside a larger area for the Heroscape section. They had shelf pictographs up with 2 shelves by 6 feet set aside for Heroscape MS, Heroscape expansion, and Heroscape terrain expansions, so at least someone has some sense!

The Target in Jonesboro Arkansas has a good amount of MS, RTTFF and I just bought the Knight/Swog and Minute Men/Wolves packs. Didn't see any clearance tags the HS product. Maybe those particular locations will no longer be stocking them? The Target in Tucson AZ (moved from) has a bigger toy section then the one in AR.

The Wal-Mart by me has RTTFF and Orm's for $15.00 in the clearance aisle. Hopefully they'll get as low as they did last year. The castles are still full price as are the MS and boosters.
As for the Target clearance I apologize for getting people worked up about it. I was just as disappointed as you to see no clearance, although many items with the NCF code have gone on clearance as she said. I had no reason to disbelieve her. To add to the mystery, Orm's and RTTFF and the Castle were stocked and they just vanished from the shelf, nowhere to be found. There is just the MS and Thora's. We'll see how things work out after the reconfigurations. Sorry once again.

Yeah, what they do is take stuff down(remove tags and everything), and then they'll reset the aisle(move things to different locations that sort of thing). So, like I said, this is normal happenings. The HeroScape stuff should be back once they get everything sorted out.

Oh, and the employee telling you that they won't be carrying it anymore is more than likely just mis-information. I really couldn't imagine them not carrying HeroScape at Target.

The Target on Hesperian Blvd in Hayward, CA has all their HS master sets marked down to $29.99 and the expansion packs to $7.99. They were tagged as a temporary price reduction.
On a completely different note...
The Wal-Mart in Union City, CA is redoing their shelves and has made a space for Marvel HS....

Welcome to the boards, Pyrogal!
On behalf of our Bay Area resident and Target scouring community I extend to you a laurel and a hearty handshake.
I've got family down in Hayward. Did you know there is a group of us 'Scapers in the Bay Area that get together every so often for gamedays? You would be welcome to join in the fun :D

Stopped by my local Target today to see if there was any post-Christmas/pre-Inventory blowouts to take advantage of; the pickens' were very slim: a few packs of the Wave 5 uniques, a few packs of the Wave 2 uniques, and one Knights & Swog Rider. All of them priced $7.99. There was a sticker for Master Sets marked down to $29.99, but those were sold out. I did manage to grab the last Thaelenk Tundra for $19.99, which was the only large/common expansion of which I did not already own at least two.
Seeing that box again and remembering opening my first one reminded me of what a disappointment Volcarren Wasteland was, price vs amount of product-wise.

Yeah, Target currently has Heroscape as TPC (Temportary Price Cut) through Feb 5. Mastersets are $29 and small packs are $7.99. The large packs are the same price of $19.99

My local Target also has the $29.99 Master Sets, the $7.99 boosters (wave 2, I think), and also states that it will be running 'til Feb. 5. I wonder if this means they won't be getting Wave 6 until after Fe. 5...

Target on Broadway in Sac, CA has 5x MS for 29.99 and 6x wave 5 (I think) for 7.99. I noticed they have a Tundra on the shelf as well. No sign of MarvelScape yet....

Just paid full retail (19.99+ 5% VA state tax) for a second TT (second one i have seen since thet've been out; almost a year now?) at target. They had 1 small booster (minions/drones; full price), 2x RV (full price), 1x TT (i bought it at full price), 3 MS (full price) and none of it was in the right place. All of it was still together like it should be, but the tag for the MS was "Fact or Crap" (insanely hilarious game )

My local Target as of last night had MS' and boosters (Nikitas & Deathreavers only) on special, on the wall with the games. $30 & $8, respectively, with no other boosters hiding in the back. They checked for me.
At the same Target last weekend I found a FA on clearance for $20.
As a sidenote I also found MS the only HS product on display in the game aisle at Wally World, though the clearance aisle had a few FFs for $15. So I got one, but forced myself to get *only* one.
That's the HS retailing news from the northwestern Baltimore suburbs.

Having checked the same Target again yesterday, it was as suggested simply the typical lazy employee response of "If it's not on the shelf then we don't have it" pushed slightly further to "If there are no price tags then we no longer carry it". Next time I see the the employee in question I shall make a point of informing him that his store does indeed still carry Heroscape, showing exhibit A of a bunch of Master Sets on the shelf, and also force-feeding him Heroscape boosters.
Okay, so I'm just ever so slightly irritated.

In the past few days I've had to do a lot of travel around my area.
Whenever I passed a K-Mart, TRU, WalMart, or Target I checked the shelves, time permitting.
Sadly, each and every Target I went to had NO Heroscape in the entire store. None on the shelves, none in the back room, not even a tag or space indicating that it ever existed. Some of these stores had been reliable sources for the life of the product, and now....poof...gone.
Part of me thinks this is a temporary thing, but a larger part is troubled by the complete lack of shlef tags or space. I never thought I'd see the day Target didn't have Heroscape. So sad. :-(
Another depressing note? Toys R Us....not a one carried the Master Set or even had a shelf tag or shelf space for it. All of them had a few expansions (Waves 4 and 5) and of course flagbearers and lava, and some even had Raknar's Vision. But no Master Sets. I strongly beleive that in this case TRU is truly just out of stock for the moment, but it was a bit depressing nonetheless.
As for the K-Mart front, I found lots of Wave Four and Master Sets, for those that are interested.
Wal-Mart was the most stocked. No Wave Six or Marvel still, but plenty of Master Sets, Castles, and Waves 1, 4, and 5. A few EOV sets, even when not counting the stockpile that still exists at one store near Philly. No waves 2-3 or 4.5. To my great surprise though, not a single store in all my travels had a speck of RTTFF or Orm's Return. Not one. I wonder what clearance store those items will end up at? I also wonder if their sudden dissappearance from stores will hurt Hasbro's chances of releasing more big box expansions? They certainly don't seem to have learned anything about why these items don't sell (cough too many hero packs cough).
On a good note, there were tons of Marvel tags in the Walmarts....plenty of shelf space in every store I went to, just waiting, yearning for that Marvel goodness.
