Hey, has anyone made any maps with the tundra sets yet? I just got mine in the mail and they look really cool, its just that i'm not completley sure of any good ways to use it yet. They do look pretty though! :)

Made one this week - we're testing it now - I put it together in LandScape using some of the 'Starter Dots' to show snow and ice. After we're done testing I will post in a thread I'm going to start called 'Changing Terrain Scenarios' and also in my map thread, 'Cavie's Maps & Scenarios'.

caravaggio that map looks good; how many snow sets is that? The RTTFF bridge in the snow looks like it could use some snow modding. Give it a frosty, icicle look and that would be perfect.

that map is teamski's. he posted it several weeks ago. i think it looks pretty cool. i posted a link to his other maps at the bottom of that post.
as far as snow modding goes, i'm not about to start painting all over my expensive heroscape stuff. i leave that to to the pros like dark ventures.
i've seen some people paint snow on the trees but i didnt like it too much. if you really MUST do something, the puffy snow stuff someone's girlfriend did looks kinda neat... but i'm not gonna do it.

Here is one I did, the black stuff is custom lava rock but you can replace that. Its kind of a "this is what is left scenario", you can see the broken bridges as well as the crumbled roads, the Glacier is melting and it pours into a deep ravine. Kind of a fun map because players start on opposite ends and end up moving kinda forwards and right to get the high ground.

Now OPrime that is the sort of map i like!!!
The thing i find quite difficult, when building maps, is to incorporate the Tundra set and VW without the map becoming unfair to one player, if you know what i mean?

THat one looks great Oprime.
I'm actually looking for a map with the main focus being on the two sets of tundra I have. I just love my Dzu-teh and want to use them more.

Here's a quick one I threw together for a battle this past friday night. We ended up adding to the end where the bridge is and we made it a three person map.
It played pretty well.

Mudkipper,
I've almost finished my tundra map and have it on LandScape however without LS4.0 you would have to follow my adaptations with starter hexes to place snow and ice tiles when you read it. I have part of it up here
http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=529
if you want to check it out. Then let me know if you want it and I'll make it downloadable.

That one looks pretty cool. Have you tried it
in a game yet?

Yes, we've played 4 times so far and I've adjusted some terrain and rules. The goal is to either eliminate the enemy army or find the glyph of Brandar and return it to your starting zone. You have to cross the middle of the board to find the glyph, causing you to go through snow/ice or lava field/molten lava.

Yanks that is a very cool map.
I like how (what I assume to be start zones) allow you to fan out to specific terrain types.
Any scenerios specific to the map?

yes, sir that is a TRON helmet. you can also see tron's frisbee to the right of my lasertag sensor. i go a little overboard at halloween. my girlfriend and i were the princess bride and the dread pirate roberts this year and i was tron the year before. the entire tron costume lights up with electro luminescent wire and paper. its a little crazy. the EL wire is too thin to see in the photo, the blue that you see is 3M reflective vinyl. its not easy hiding 9V batteries and transformers on your body when you're wearing a wet suit.
i should probably add that i am NOT the silly fat guy in long underwear who thought he looked like tron in the photos flying around the internet last year.
so we're not totally hi-jacking this thread. here's link back to my thread with a blurry photo of the costume.

that's ten mastersets + 8 more sets of water. i loved the sparkly water so much that when i realised last year that it was out of production i bought a bunch from sandra. i thought hanging the glaciers would be pretty simple but i was wrong. i explain what i did in my thread linked above (below my last photo).

Jeez caravaggio! Are those glaciers upside down? Wow,
How did you manage THAT? It almost looks like they are
just jammed in there, but I don't think that's the case.

Runehardt,
What material is your blue board made of? It really is awesome.

Runehardt,

Thanks!
It's just particle board covered in blue felt.
I sent a write up with directions on how to make it to the HSCodex and I think it's going to be in the next issue.
One side is flat because it fits together with a second board for 2 vs 2 games.

Thanks for the info, Runehardt. I'll watch for the next HSCodex for the details.
