I'm taking off the week between x-mass and New Years. Any one in NorCal interested in a mid-week, mid-day get together ???

I'm thinking Wednesday 12/27, but I'm flexible.

That's true. Satyr didn't specify. Heck, I could host a small get together for playing, I think. Satyr let us know what your plans are for location!

Satyr
December 18th, 2006, 06:59 PM
I haven't got any plans for a location ... I'm thinking on the streets of Oakland ... hope it doesn't rain. Be sure to bring paper weights and pepper spray. :P

Seriously, it all depends on the number of people interested. Endgame should be pretty vacant during the day and I can probably host something small at mi casa de carnage asada :D

Endgame would be fun too. I'm sure it's nice and warm up in that balcony section this time of year. :)
Whatever the case, I'm reserving this date!
I'm getting in some 'Scaping either this Thursday for Friday with JonnyPac in Placerville at - get this - an art gallery! Whatta first that'll be. I can't wait -Wave 6 Bliss!!!

I gotta be at work to get paid unfortunately..... no vacation, no sick days... the good news I get home by 3pm most days and 2pm if I cheat! So unless y'all are getting together right after breakfast I should be good to go.

I got the OK from The Wife to have "some of the guys" over Wednesday the 27th. We can accommodate 6 easily and could probably cram eight. It's just gonna be me and up to 7 of you ... Morning Star will be at work.

I'd like to get things rolling early afternoon ... I'll push to 2 PM for you Alastair MacTrouble-Maker. Morning star will have to work the next day so we’ll not be up till the wee hours of the morning at my house this day.

I'm thinking a bunch of quick one v one games again.

Please confirm … I’m seeing

 Oops! A tad too early for me. I must make up some of this holiday spending I've done and will be forever mulling over my grindstone.
Thanx 4 the invite though Satyr.

I'll be looking forward to playing you guys maybe on a weekend, but surely at the tourney on the 20th!!!

:ponder: I should play a moch-wave 6 game to prepare the masses ahead.
HEH: Save some for the wave 6less or I will send my Dzu-Teh to throw snowballs at your house!
(Remember, one has already completed recon your ranks!) :D

Satyr, My wife has green-lighted me to go - I'm so there if you'll have me. If so, reserve my spot - I can never refuse an offer to 'Scape!!! So are we starting at 2 for MacDirk or can we start sooner? Hint , hint.
Thanks for offering up your pad.

Sooner is good for me ... though I'll need some time to clean up from the xmass bomb that is currently going off in our dining room and will likely be left until that morning.

11 AM seem the eariliest that I can open the door.

Thanks!

Guerillanator's out of town on that date. But when I told him about the day, he was really bummed to miss it. Him and I are getting in a couple games tonight as I'm out of town until after Christmas.

You'll be all glazed over with each others Heroscape juice by then.

Er, Satyr, could you reiterate to me exactly what we're doing on this date? I may opt out...

Man I feel like an outsider  . I'm already paying HS on that Wednesday with a bandmember and his son...for a 3-4 session, then we have to pratice music. We have a gig on 12/30 9:00 to 1:00(4 hours!) in Stockton at a place called Fats. If we didn't have to practice I would be driving to Oaktown.

What about a Tracy Location at the end of the Christmas week? Anyone? :D Anyone? :) Anyone? :( Anyo-n-e?

Satyr

Would have been cool if you could have made it to Oaktown. End of the week is not gonna work for me ... snowboarding , inlaws, partying, and New Years Eve.

Satyr, I'm still trying to get the green light for tomorrow. Just really busy around here and tons of housework to do too. I'm trying. Gosh by golly, I'd love to play for a few. I'll report back in with a more definitive answer later.

End of the week is not gonna work for me ... snowboarding ,

I haven't snowboarded in years! Since the kids showed up, but get this! We went to a snow park and had a chinsy toy board for the kids to try - and they took to it like instinct! I may have some instant snowboard buddies in the near future!
Ya, I'm a photo show-off, so here's my snowboarding princess on Saturday:

HEH, she looks ready to carve up some deep pow pow. NWS is predicting 16" after tonight and tomorrow. The weather man in me says Thursday is a ridding day!

D, I'm just going to play around with hexes tonight and build a map that is good for 3 or 4 people ... not readily coming to mind ... may just have to do a castle assault :ponder:

Satyr
December 27th, 2006, 12:25 AM
Change of plans ... or maybe solidification of plans. I'll be assembling a number of Modular Maps tonight.

http://heroscape.glasq.com/maps/garylasq_mop_rules.htm

Versatility for number of players
Starting zone drafting possibilities
and I've just always wanted to try them

Should be fun

Alastair MacDirk
December 27th, 2006, 01:05 AM
Good call on the modular maps. It does sound intigrue-ing. Anyhow, my day tomorrow goes like this.... drive down to Sunnyvale, take-off footages on jobsite, drive up to Hayward and pick-up materials, drive back to Sunnyvale and complete job, go home??, play heroscape in Oaktown. I have no idea what the job entails... could be done by noon....or not. So what I'm saying is I will get there when I get there, hopefully sooner rather than later. I will bring some beers, but prolly not my STUFF. Won't bring the Arctic map either. Just me and beer..... hmmmm.... wonder which you anticipate more???? Who's bringing the wave 6???

Satyr
December 27th, 2006, 02:46 AM
mmmmm ... Alastair MacBeer

I'm thinking some sorta quaisy draft thing ... probably limit it to single general armies, selecting starting zone, and selecting starting zone placement.

I also like the 900 point drafting pool idea ... we can kick it around.

So I've been playin' with hexes and I've come to the conclusion that I've not nearly enough terrain. So you remember when I said I got it covered ... not quite true.

We would probably have a bit more fun if we added a few more 5 hex modular maps to the pool. Modular maps should solve the terrain ownership question when peps are ready to roll.

Satyr and A.M,
I have one set of Wave 6 I'll bring if you want to take them for a spin. I can bring extra zombies from the Meat Grinder scenario if you want to try multiples. I have some MK Pain Wraiths that make good proxies for additional Bleakwoode Shades. Should I bring all of that?

I'd like to bring one, 450-point army and use them the whole time. I'm very happy with my current Tournament configuration, but want to see how they fair.

How's that?

Satyr
December 27th, 2006, 11:41 AM
Yeah, Wave 6! Together HEH and D should have multiple commons to test out.

I have not set up the meat grinder, but it only takes a few minutes if that’s what we want to do. I got skeletons galore that can be used, don't worry about proxies, but more zombies is always a good thag After all, you'll definitely need 4 squads of zombies if your gonna roll with them.

I'm happy to give tourney armies a spin. I don't have any thang firmed up yet, but that’s partly because I don't have Wave 6 :).

Thank everyone for commin over ... that was more people than I expected. Couldn't have done it without the extra starting zones HEH brought. I'm really diggin the the modular maps.

In the future I'm thinking I'll have players bring their own modules (within a fixed critriera) and we'll assmble and go ... one on one.

D, I've taken Kaemon hostage after the losses he inflicted on my troops (card only). Good game! I also found a baggie of goodies (dice) that I believe are yours. Sexymama good game as well ... damn BBQ!

HEH, you may have gotten all of your hexes back, but I got a camera with your name on it.

If I don't see you all before the 20th, I'll bring said items to the tournament.

Thanks again!

 Hey there happy 'scapers.
Thanx for having us over Saytr, although my time there was short spent it was indeed a blast trying out Kaemon, the Imperium, and Kiova for the first time. I think everyone was quite impressed with the modular thing. YOU'VE SHOWN US THE LIGHT! No worries about the dog, ... next time I'll just bring some bacon with me! Me and Sexy are going for an 800 point blowout tonight so I would desperately like to get Kaemon's card. When you home?

Luke, ... ,... Great game! I think we both were pretty evenly matched until the fall of the great Q9, (which I thought wouldn't happen after Carr's demise). Oldies but goodies, ... those Drones proved their worth to me for the first time. 300 point armies?!

HEH and Alastair, ... as always a pleasure to see you guys. Me and Sexy will have to set up some 1v1 maps and have a day at it with all of us once more. :ponder: I'm really diggin the modular thing. So many options.

Saytr thanx again for the invite, (and Sexy's unexpected invite), and I'll call you up after work today to free my captive-card!

It's always a blast to play 'Scape, but it's oh so nice to win a few, isn't it?!?
