Could someone please post me a picture of the Venoc Warlord's army card?
The HS website isn't running it for me, it keeps showing me the Vipers' card.
Just close this after someone posts the card please.

Ok do they call him Mittens because of those gauntlets he wears or am I missing out on an inside joke?

Venoc Warlord
I've never seen this hero perform poorly.
Last night I had a game pretty much wrapped up. Just the Tarns and Venoc to deal with.
I had Drake, Carr, Guilty, 1 Microcorp squad and 2 Gladiatrons (out of 8 ).
Well that durned Warlord proceeded to destroy my remaining squads figures. He then proceeded to deal Carr 3 of 4 wounds and 2 of 5 to Drake.
Scary business. He then left engagement with these two warriors and took 1 swipe wound for a total of 3. The snake man healed himself back up to full load, but luckily Drake incercepted him and took him down.
Venoc is a tough one. It's that speed and attack. He gets to plant himself nearly anywhere he wants when engaging an opponent.

He is the only Unique Hero without a proper name. So he has been affectionately named Mittens due to his "Gloves of Doom."

If your snakes dont kill everyone the Venoc Warlord finishes the job.
For the life of me I thought Venoc Warlord was common. :wtf:

That's never been the case in my games so far.
I did Stone Stare a fresh Venoc Warlord and Valguard in one game. But that's a different type of hero destruction...

Vipers work really well and Mittens rarely fails to perform for me. I like using him both in a Roman and Viper army. Mittens and the Venocs performed greatly for me the other night against ninthdoc. If only their were ranged Vipers, that would be a great army!

Ranged vipers? There are already ranged vipers. It's called they can move halfway across the board every turn, frenzy, and do it again.
That's enough range for anyone.

Movement and range are like apples and kumquats.
Sure you can frenzy with Venocs but with a 3 attack and zero defense I don't count on too much, especially when d20 isn't my friend. Across the board and back...not too often. Armocs provide bonding with the benefit of having defense. EOV are range killers. No where in there is range.
What I want is to move 7 or 9 and then take a shot. The gorillinators are 7 move and 6 range and can be awesome if played right. Why not have the same with Vipers. I like themed armies but if I want range I have to look elsewhere.
Frenzy and zero defense is nowhere near enough if there are elves that can frenzy, have defense as well as range. Bring on the ranged Vipers.

That's why the Venocs only cost 40 points.

And at 40 points they are a great squad with their abilities but they sure as hell don't always frenzy. Moving across the board and back rarely happens considering the fact that frenzy is not guaranteed.
All I am saying is that considering they brought out another 2 different Viper squads it would be nice to have another with range.

I've never had any success with the Venoc Vipers. I can count on one hand the number of times I've gotten frenzy, and when I did, the attack fizzled on the opponents defenses. They also seem to draw fire. With no defense dice, if your opponent has any sense he'll take them under fire early in the game, depriving you of part of your army that you're likely to have order markers on early in the game. The Armoc Vipers are a very ordinary squad, described as "white bread" by another poster somewhere. They're just nothing to write home about. I've played the EOV a few times successfully, but not enough to tell whether it was tactics or blind luck. Mittens, on the other hand, has been for me the most successful of the Vipers. Good solid attack and defense, lots of life (good glyph defender). I draft him the most of the Vipers.

Post subject: Nicknames for HeroScape figs
Just wondering who else has come up with affectionate nicknames for their figs... the ones I hear regularly at my games are Legolas and Morpheus (of course). Chompy (Grimnak, natch), and Mittens (the Venoc Warlord, for its little cyber-paws).
