Thank goodness we have such talented and caring people to get us a new home in such short order. 8)

Use the search button, fool! HAHA.
Like Doc said, no one knows for sure. All I've have heard from GB was that "The HQ is down, and its down hard."
The Chat rocks.

It's always weird starting in a new board. Hopefully either the HQ will revive, or this site will take off.
Though I hope that if we stay here, the skin is changed to something less "generic phpBB"ish :)
Oh, and I wonder if anyone else knows where ninthdoc got this Avatar's pic :) I know where, haven't seen it for several years though :)

Yeah I know I found it like two seconds after I posted this thread. I wonder if Glasswalker abandoned the site because of some of the crap talking. I know the dude was having some life problems and trying to keep three thousand people happy. I apprecdiate what he was doing for us and I am not ready to bash him for it, quite the opposite. I hope Hq's comes back up as well. I kinda like the format and I don't handle change well :D . If he does not get it going again though this will be my new home. I also wonder if Glasswalker pulled the plug after he was about to lose his mods. I saw an episode of Soprano's like that where JR's captains were all doing there own thing and he tried to kill Tony. Hopefully GW doesn't have a bad temper

Hey guys, I want to apologize on behalf of the HQ staff, we were poorly informed about things like this and have had little to no communication with the site admin. GW was apparently quite tied up elsewhere and it caused the site to fall into decay. We began taking action several days ago with the building of this site. Then before we could announce the site HQ fell. We are trying every means we know to find the stray members and guide them over to here. Now with dedicated members holding the keys, you can trust that this site will be around for a very long time and that we will always cater to the needs of it's members in a timely fashion.

Well I'll be attentive to member needs. If overcrowding becomes a problem I'll look into how other forums have successfully dealt with it.

I agree. The larger the sites get, the less I participate. In the old days, I'd be that settler who keeps moving on every time they elect a mayor.

Phew, I found my way over here from BGG (big suprise ). This new site looks great, though. So the HQ crapped up pretty good, huh? That is too bad, even though it was running slower than my grandma. Oh well, I hope this site does well. Vivo heroscapers.com!!

I see it three ways, Gw is away on business and cannot do anything, Gw's personal probs got the better of him, or he is pissed at everyone for trashin his efforts at makin a new site. I am voting on number three. I was feeling bad for the dude, people were takin a few shots at him.

May 9th, 2006, 07:35 PM
If that is the case, then it is truly sad. GW stepped up big time when the original .net site went defunct. I wish him well. Now truth, GB, Oog and company have stepped up bigger. This site will do well, yessiree.

HQ was down before he knew anything about this. He hasn't been around for months at a time. I HIGHLY doubt he knows that HQ is down right now, even though I've emailed him. I'm glad for what GW did in time that he did it. But when he did it he didn't know he was going to be opening his own bussiness. Unfortunately the bussiness left us by the wayside and something had to be done to keep the community from falling apart due to lack of attentivness to community issues by the administration.

This entire community has been nothing but understanding of GW's death-by-inattentiveness.
Hero made a decision. GW did it by inattention.
Same result.
The community, and the fans, get screwed, and their efforts lost.
Show me one post on HQ that was remotely rude or that was not totally deserved.
Oh, that's right - you can't- :x
because he never bothered to come back and put any time in for the site, even though I explicitly pointed out this likely problem to him when he first volonteered his server and bandwidth space.
He assured me this wouldn't happen.
Well, guess what - it did, just about exactly how I described to him it could.
GW's not a bad guy, and I'm not mad at him for having RL concerns trump all of ours.
I AM disappointed in him, though, and surprised he left us so in the lurch and on our collective asses even though I made him aware of this exact possibility, and he was very aware of the problems yet didn't come through on any of his statements or promises.

I do hope we can get things working really well this time.
HQ really was good for a while, hard start up, changing servers and all. but it did work well for a time.
I hope to see a good solid core of people make it over here. I hope some of the trouble makers get lost and don't find us for a long, long time.

I can and I will if HQ comes back up. Also I browse someother heroscape sites and even moreso on those sites I watched, people were trashing the dude. Iv'e already watched people on this chat room call him a dumbass yesterday. All in all though I am glad that we have more active Adminstrators now, that was a big prob with HQ's. I am not saying that I agree with abandoning us over on HQ, Hell I lost five hundred posts and a ton of custom work  . I was not trying to get your hackles up Reaper but I think if we leave Hq's it needs to be in more of a Hey thanks for trying GW kinda attitude, not a you screwed everything up for us. Truth has done the best job of explaining GW's inattentiveness without one cross word, or without coming down on the guy. He has merely stated the facts, those you cannot change. Thank you Truth. I guess all I am saying is that I refuse to smoke the dude for this. I will gracefully move on, more like a gentle breeze and alot less like a thunderstorm. Hq's was a fun site and I appreciated my time there.

Skyknight, that's sort of my attitude. I don't have any kind of animosity toward GW, and if I were him and had seen some of the crap people were chucking at me, I would have shut it down, too. Only since I am a lot less friendly than GW, my 'this site is shut down' notice would have included the phrase, 'because you can all bite me.'

I think that we could all learn a valuable lesson about backing up our data from this. After .net I saved everything anyone did that I wanted to save to my local hard drive. I'm not suggesting that this site is going down or anything like that, but it is still worth thinking about in the future. I haven't been over to the gallery yet, but I ceratinly hope it allows multiple uploads like .net did, or reposting all this could take awhile.

Ya. HQ was a big place but i was finally settling in. Now we all have to start all over again. Why couldnt we just have our old .net again. That place was great. However, im not gonna be left behind this time. Thats why i have joined quickly. Just need to bring all the other stuff here now. I still think that if HQ were to remain, that would ba a little better. But who knows, one thing for sure, this site is faster. :D I think i might repost my Batte Report here with the pictures and everything. Yes, i will do that when i have time. :D

I have not seen anyone taking any personal shots towards GW. The facts are that HQ has suffered as has the community by the inattentiveness. I am thrilled to see that this site is up and many of the hardcore have crossed over to contribute to making this a success. I have not abandoned HQ completely, but I am not one to put all my eggs in one basket...the signs are showing, the demise of HQ is inevitable. I appreciate GW stepping up and helping as he did, but for the site to thrive and the community prosper, there must be an active response to serious issues. I have said it numerous places, it is nice to have this site up and know it will be properly maintained!

Eh? "Butt ugly"? Surely you're referring to the infant vomit yellow color of .NET's early days, and NOT the calming blue color scheme I helped incorporate just weeks before .NET's demise.
That said... yes, I am here. But barely. I don't even have an avatar yet! ;)
Don't look for much from me until the middle of next month. As Oog mentioned above, I did move from Cali to Hellizona and my wife and I are still getting unpacked, settled, and adjusted.
I haven't had a chance to look at many posts here, but this site looks to be what .NET hoped to become. I mean, wow, we already have a chat page! This place is in GREAT hands with Truth at the helm, and supported by excellent mods, both old and new, as well as legacy .NET and HQ.com members.
I can't wait to get to a little bit of normalcy here with the rest of the 'Scapers.

Niteraid, this is what the HQ says now:
Hello All. The winds of change are upon us!
The time has come for me to step down as the community leader for Heroscape. I have neither the time or resources to continue this project and manage it in a fashion that this community deserves.
There is a new community site up and running at http://www.heroscapers.com/ this site should now be considered the new main community site for heroscape.
The info contained here at HSHQ is not lost, and is here to be recovered if needed... For more information on my stepping down, please see my post at heroscapers.com: Glasswalker's Post
I hope to see you all over at the new site, as I Will be at the very least a member there, and since I won't be worrying about owning/operating the site anymore, who knows, I might actually be active again!
See you all there!
