Welcome to Heroscape. :D The expansion you are seeking is the "Snipers and Vipers" booster of common troops from the Wave 1. The snipers (the blue and white space dudes) are excellent range troops and every skull you roll counts for two. Get them to height, and hopefully with the +1 attack glyph, and rip your opponent a new one.

Welcome frye. I actually last night just bought my second Master set and a road to the forgotten forest. Mixed with my brothers sets, we now have 3 Master Sets, and 2 Road sets. Try putting that together, and you have some wonderful maps!
I still need a snipers and vipers pack. Good luck finding one.

Welcome Fyre. Don't let all this mention of money spook you. Remember that it isn't a blind booster money hole. You buy what you want.
On that note... try and get a friend hooked on the game, that way it is easier to have access to the multiple commons in the later expansions. mmmm Hoard of vipers.

If you can't find "Snipers and Vipers" locally you can always order it from Hasbro.com. Oh, and welcome to HeroCrack. Now that it has you, you can never be free. Don't worry though you will still be able to blend in with the public...unless Taelord begins talking to you. ;)

Take a look here. As far as switching to Master feel free to take your time getting used to building a map and understanding the basic rules. Once you can play basic without referring to the rulebook advance to master. If at any time you feel overwhelmed step back into basic.
The truth is that once you play master your enthusiasm will grow and you will never look back.

I second the "Master game" recommendation. The Basic game is only two steps up from Snakes & Ladders - if that was all there was to HS, I reckon that 99.9% of the folks here would never play the game. But the Master game has so much more variety, tactics, strategy, bluff, planning, excitement, and fun.
I ran a demo weekend earlier this month - we used the Master rules for all but one game, even when demoing to under 12's; the game when we used the Basic rules was grim, and I'll never use them again. If you really need to make things simpler for new players, you're better off leaving out a few of the more complicated unit types, like double-spaced figures and glyphs, and running with pre-chosen armies.
The Master rules aren't actually that much more complicated; it's all the extra opportunities and variety (especially when you have some expansion units to draft) that make it so much better.

Watch out the first master set can lead to more.... I think I've bought eight so far ( some were Christmas gifts for our boys & girl ). We should have a support group thread on here for this sickness.
I now of some southern Minnesota players... maybe we will see you at a tournement some time. It is a good group of people the next tourney I know of is in Austin on Saturday June 24 ( detail listed under Event file )
Good luck and have fun with your first set..... If you buy another.. well you've been warned!

I bought my first Master set off Ebay a week ago and am waiting patiently for it. Went to the stores around me to see what they had this morning. Not much, a few MS between them and 1 store had 1 RTFF and 1 Orims. I bought the RTFF. I'm thinking I can't wait and if the MS doesn't get here by Saturday morning I'll go buy another one. I'm sure I'll want two anyways :D
My kid, wife, and I play Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride a lot. He's been bugging me to get HS. After reading about it on this site and BGG I had to buy it.

We got our first Master Set in late April along with Greeks & Vipers and Heros of Barrenspur. My son and I played many games that night. Three weeks ago we picked up RTTFF and now because of good report cards I picked up VW for my son and Snipers & Vipers for my daughter. Now I find myself driving all over looking for the latest and coolest expansions. I think for Fathers day I will by them...errr I mean me...no...yeah them another Master Set. Welcome Fyre...

Well I got screwed on my purchase from Ebay. Paid $26 for an opened but "unplayed" box of Heroscape. Figures taken out of the packaging but in a bag. Supposedly. I got it yesterday, packaged not very good for shipping. Open it up. It's missing the figures, 1 ruin, 2 glyphs, and 8 sparkly water tiles. Seller claims everything was there when they shipped it of course. I can get $13 back if I ship it back to them for $13. Not really worth it. So I guess I'm going to go buy another master set and have two complete sets of terrain minus the 8 water tiles. I was able to build the RTFF map with a smaller river and play with the wave 1 expansions though so it wasn't a total loss.

question though was the box beat up or such? the box that it was shipped in..also was it insured?
but I would go back to ebay and see what they can do...
but if the packing box wasna opened or such than ye can always leave a note in the feedback warning ppl to watch what is being advertised by this person(btw was it a powerseller or someone with a low feedback rating?)

Do you have a link to the eBay lot?
0rbital
June 13th, 2006, 03:22 PM
I didn't insure it (usually not worth it for something this cheap) and the box was beat up so the seller I can simply say it's USPS fault. This is a power seller that has like 1200 feedbacks. The seller did offer to refund my Pay Pal if I shipped it back but ground shipping for HS is a bit over $12. The terrain is worth the $15.25 (thought I paid $26, actually $27.25) I would actually get back from the refund after paying for shipping. Won't be buying anymore opened games from Ebay though that's for sure.
Here's the item:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8816894740&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1
Looking at the seller's photo it looks like everything pictured out of the box is what is missing. The dice, markers, terrain, etc were still in bags in the box.
Seller only charged me $7.75 to ship but paid $12.xx so I guess all in all it's worth keeping. I'll start my HS collection off with 2 masters, RTFF, and the wave 1 expansions. Should keep me from spending anymore money for a week or two heh.

Totally sucks.
I had that same thing happen to me once when I bought a copy of Dark World.
Listed on eBay as complete, but was missing parts just like your situation. I had to pay for shipping back to the lady. She was adamant everything was complete. I don't recall going through eBay channels to settle the problem.
It was a big headache for her too. She honestly believed the game to be complete and figured I might be lying. I just paid the darned shipping back in order to get my refund and cut my losses.
Sorry to hear your tale...

So anyway there I was when a millon snakes came out of nowhere man.
So I held up my sword and was like "I've got the master set!" and I totaly became Master Set Man. Alot better when you play with someone else, and the debate over rulls, well just set that aside.
Rember the master set waits as the heroscapers debate.

Got lucky at Walmart today. Went to buy another MS they had 4 of them without the elite vipers figures for $40. Climbed up and looked on top of the aisle and found one with the EOVs plus it was mispriced at $34.
After building a mountain/waterfall area with the second MS now I can see that's not enough. The 1 RTFF is fine for now but I think at least 1 more MS, VW, and Tundra would be nice. Need to save some money now hehe.
