I decided that I needed a permanent HS board so that I don't have to take as hour to set up every time I wish to play. I felt that this was the perfect opportunity to do some custom stuff. Here's what I got so far, I will post more as I finish. http://www.buddhachildmusic.com/HS1

That is good stuff, justn! Kinda reminds me of Grishnahk's terrain (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=448).
I do like the idea of having a map built that will never come down, but i can't help but want new scenery.

That is nice but don't touch it man  I have often thought about doing that kind of custom work, but like you said, its permanent. I try to make things that can be move, maybe some day I'll give it a try though.

I'm only making a small board for short games. I'm saving most of my terrain for building bigger maps when I have the time to.

That looks really nice. If I read correctly, you're making it bigger? How big are you planning on making it?

Nice work justincase, I am really impressed. I love seeing this done with the HS tiles, though I can imagine storage would become a problem.
I've thought about doing the whole static grass/pebble work to my stuff a couple of times but since I only have a small gaming area I decided against it.
Again Nice work, :)

I planning on doing a master set like this and then mounting it on a board about 30"x30". Then i'm going to use clear exopy resin to create the water around the whole board so it will look like one big island (and i won't have to use any water tiles). Then the whole thing will be sealed on the board and able to hang on the wall. So it will be out of my way and any time i want to play a short game all i have to do is pull it off the wall and goto battleing. I also think it will create an interesting art piece that maby will get more people excited about the game. I find that the hardest thing about introducing this game to new people is that once i pull out all the stuff they become overwhelmed. This is something already set up and made for short low point games. Once people get excited about playing the game we'll crack out all the rest of the stuff and have mega battles.

Nice strategy. I might have to get into this myself.

That whole idea is flocked.
I do want to see a pic of the finished piece hanging on a wall though. Just make sure it is away from any place someone could brush up against it otherwise you may end up with blood and timbers flying everywhere!

After not seeing it for a while and looking at it again, something really stuck out. The rock props could use some texture. Everything else has a nice organic look to it, but the rocks look like plastic. Wow, I just realized the irony of rocks not looking organic.

If you want to try making some rocks let me know, I have played with em before a bit. Here is a thread about how they can kinda look if you are interested at all. For specifics just let me know if you need em.

Though it looks as if though you have played with customs a bit yourself. BTW these stones are not on bases yet, still a bit tacky. Soon though.

Doubling as artwork (which it is ) and storing on a wall for all to appreciate is a GREAT IDEA !

Great idea. What I do is simply set up before the newbie gets there....that way it's not boring and overwhelming for them.

and here's the whole board, I still have to flock the rest of it and pour the epoxy.

Holy crap that looks cool.
You going to bring it to gencon? :poke:
Also. How do you count range from the ground to the bridge?

Thanks cornpuff, I'm not going to gencon, and i don't know yet how i'm going to count the range, I still need to playtest it.

I was thinking that since this is a rope bridge I should come up with "falling off" rules, anyone have ideas.

Wow it looks great, and what a great idea.
I think the rocks look killer, the ones at the base of the tree remind of of wet river rocks.
Having a lot of sets, this is a good idea, have one pre-set up like that, and hangable none the less, but it is too much time for me, but i am loving the photos

Nice work! I like the idea of hanging the map as art to start conversations about the game. For falling, when a figure finishes a move on the bridge, roll the d20. On a 1-2, they fall off the bridge into the water directly into the space below where they were standing. If they fall on a figure, they each roll dice equal to their printed height, any shields rolled count as a hit on the other figure which can be defended against normally. The falling figure is then placed in a space adjacent to the figure in the water. The person that controls the falling figure chooses which space.

I'm working on a styrofoam bridge right and I thought about a rope bridge. Then I log in here and what do I see . . .? Dang
Good job!

How about for 2 engaged figures on the bridge, the attacker can try to throw the defender over. Maybe figure heights for attack and defense with extra skulls meaning the defender is thrown. Extra shields could mean the attacker goes over.
