I am working on a possible article about the various uses of castles and I need help. (No, not p sychiatric help! Well, maybe.)

If you have created or know of a good (or great) castle scenario (not just a map, but one that also sets up army sizes, objectives, etc.), I would very much appreciate a link or a description placed into this tread. If the scenario is not your own, please include whose it is so I can get the creator's permission if it should happen to be used in an article.

Thanks. I'm counting on y'all in the scenario creating segment of the HeroScapers community. I know you're a creative bunch, so please share your best efforts.

I created a 7-map custom campaign based around a castle seige called The Seige of Dulhammer Crag (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=1490).

It involves an approach to the castle, breaching the walls, holding the courtyard, and finally delving the depths below in search of the monarch. I was going to submit it to the Codex, but it just needs more playtesting before I put it out there.

I've re-done my "Spaceship Soldiers" parody map with Castles, but I don't know if that's what you're looking for.

One unique hero per player...stop the invading hordes...escape in the transport.

So is it more strictly maps or scenarios in general you are looking for?

Rev, I have a map im going to be posting soon that involves an underground entrance into the castle via sewer. I'll let you know once it is finished

What I'm looking for, primarily, are scenarios that use/require castles. Obviously some will be map specific (pretty hard to tunnel into a place without a tunnel), but I'm also looking at how armies are balanced in terms of points between insiders and outsiders, and that kind of thing.

I appreciate the contributions from y'all.

We either play with a nuetral castle or fort in the middle of the field and you fight for control of it for high ground, positioning, etc. Rychean has a good map for this.

If doing an attack/defend scenario we don't use the door.

That's interesting, nether. I think one of the great issues concerning castle use is just what "cost" the door demands.

We experimented with the door using the stats on the card, but it made it nearly impossible to enter the castle without flying.

We came up with a compromise. The door only has 5 life, only gets one automatic shield versus medium or small figures, and no auto shields versus large or more. We also decided that figures can only get a maximum of two extra dice for height. We had fights with Omnicron Snipers up three levels. They were laying waste to everything.

Im conflicted about the castles. I love how they look. Maps look great with a castle on them, but they are hell on making an attack/defend scenario. The attacker HAS to have flyers or he might as well quit. When playing with 400 - 500 point armies, it makes it hard to create a balanced army.

I have a map under the 4MS download section called Castle Falnir. It's a fairly straight-on siege, though after more playtesting I have changed the points values to 1000pts VS 1500pts. It's also worth noting these are really two 500pt armies VS 3 500pt armies, so not only are point values indicative of what is needed to lay siege, but there also many more order markers in play. If you look at it and are interested I can send you the updated version.

My offering is the Elemental Keep.

Map/Scenario Includes:
- Ice Caves
- Lava Barriers
- Ice Orb
- Volcano Dungeon
- Inner Ice Sanctum
- Tower of the Winds

"... and secure the ice glyph, that would freeze the moat and cool the lava allwoing him to use the secret tunnels to access the dungeon..."

I just designed a map with a long tunnel that runs around the edge of the board into a castle. It's at home, but I'll post some pictures of it later tonight or tomorrow.

I am geting really anoyed with virtual scape i have tryed downloading it 6 or 7 times. :frustrated:
