I've got another teen hooked as of tonight.
What's really freaky about it is that he just got back from visiting his cousin in Little Rock and playing Heroscape there...
...and his cousin in Little Rock was taught to play by his PASTOR. And it's a Presbyterian church.
I've got a PM sent to RevDyer to find out if it's him or if there's actually another Presby-HS-playing-pastor in Little Rock!

Wow, that sounds really creepy and evil taken out of context.
Anyway, good job on the recruiting. I really need to get my teenage nephew to play with some of your kids. He only plays all these little kids in Galveston and he always wons easy. He needs a good whipping!

If one person just takes over and makes all the decisions, I think we can do it. Otherwise, March is better...

Just for the record, I know before I said it's possible that I may leave WBC soon, but it won't be in the immediately near future.
It's still an open location for now.

Well, I'm personally not feeling the January date. I suggest March. With the holidays around the corner things will be quite hectic. I rather wait. Why don't we set up some regular game nights instead? Omega? Can we start playing again on Fridays?
Also, elflord, when can we play our pending game?

Oooo! OOoooo! Can we play Jacks? I rock at that game.
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h295/Truesweetcurse/jacks.jpg
Hmmm...What's a "brit" game? Is that like driving around in your car with your kids unbuckled in their car seat or sitting on your lap while driving? Driving intoxicated? Partying panty-less? Singing like you've become a living dead zombie? Driving over people's feet? Ruining perfectly good pop star carrers?
I really want to know...I don't think I'm allowed to party panty-less. Not that I wear panties. For that matter none of the other stuff sound like fun either.

Don't know about Chuck, but it was my friend Pete who showed it to me. He hounded me for months to try it out. He would show me his minis and stuff but I wasn't interested, I was heavy into heroclix at the time. Finally, I broke down and agreed to play and boy was that fun. It's a cheap, solid little game with a great theme.

I was introduced to the silly brits a while back. I was playing magic and played a little game called Space HULK. After that it was 40K, then fantasy. After that it was Blood Bowl, which is the best game they've made that can be found easily. The best game was Man O' War, which can't be found.
Anyway, I was a day oner for Necromunda and then Mordhiem after that. Good simple easy to play and cheap after the intial price.
That was in the DFW area.
I'm totally game for the 21st.

Well, truth be told, I'd love to come out and play.
Because I'm so (choose your descriptive word), I must wait for a decision from Brax-u-liscious this afternoon.
We recently aquired some new games that are absolutely great. (Well, they're new to us anyways...)
She's now hooked on Carcassonne, Zooloretto, and Loot (a card game).
The catch to all these, there's not any reading once you know the rules.

December 20th, 2007, 01:55 PM
I like the idea... What I'm suggesting to the ms. is that we bring them and play, and we'll still get to see everyone and be social... even if she has no interest in the brit games...
(I thought she was gonna have a family thing where I wasn't invited that evening, but she's free... and so she wants to be with me, and I want to be there...)
So, we may just bring them along, so we get to meet Chuck's family and such, and we can play these simple euro games with whoever loses the silly brit games...

January 9th, 2008, 05:40 AM
Hahaha! SO, they took the trade but I had to trade it in for equal or greater value, and I forgot my wallet.
It is virtually impossible to get an even $40 worth of stuff in that place, but I ended up with some cool Dwarf minis. The Skaven offerings were slim and I didn't see anything right off the bat that would work for Kislevites, so I ended up with Dwarves.
So, it took forever, and I think all the employees were talking about me as I vainly tried to find pieces that would work AND would total an exact $40, and I got some weird looks when I left, and I probably can never go back to that store again without a disguise, but everything went well for the most part.
Thanks for asking!

I checked on my church's student building. A year ago, I could have done it easy. Now, they've got a new form to fill out and it has to go before the staff. So, the only way I can make it work is if I can find a good way to spin it so it sounds really good for our teens... (AND it's available on the date we want)

The schedule we have now is RPGs starting the 18th and every two weeks. The off weeks are pickup games and scheduled one shot RPGs.
I broke out Arkam Horror last week and it went well.
I have two sets of Morro and I think I'll try and sucker a few people into playing on the 25th. If I can hook some and find the rest of my gear as I unpack, we can do once a month events there. Maybe even mini tourneys or a league.

The League City Wal-Mart has a stack of nine RotV master sets, marked down to $25.

Well, we missed out at the League City WM, and I don't know what happened. One day, they had an entire aisle crammed with clearance toys, including nine RotV sets. The next day... gone.
I went in today and that aisle was being restocked as swimming toys. I hunted around for a while, then found an employee and asked. She said that all the clearance stuff had been moved to endcaps or sold. I checked to be sure, but there was no sign of RotV anywhere.
EDIT: And after reading in the WotC thread that RotV is effectively out of print, I'm even more bummed about this...

However, I did locate a ROTV with UPC 41712. I believe that is 1st edition. I do not need it, but if anyone is interested, I can tell you where to find it. The box has significant wear, but does not appear to have been opened enough to remove water or dice or anything.

Not when there's a tourney to attend where our HONOR is at stake! :P  HE he he. I was just hoping you'd convince Prospect to go...you know, like he said he would last Dallas tourney. 8) "I will go the next one guys..." Maybe he's afraid he's "skill" will not hold up over there.

sorry don't think I can help ya with that. Kinda morning the death of scape by it now totally being in WotC hands. We might have 2 years of products before they push it to the side, or more likely **** it up like they do with everything else they get their claws into. If they make it to wave 10 I'll be susprised, the terrain packs might hold some promice. But with them destroying the jungle set and large hero set I think they are putting the nails into the scape coffin. It's just a matter of time before we hear the "we just aren't making money on this, so we are scrapping the whole line."

Let me 'splain... no, that'll take too long. Let me sum up.
We won't get the jungle set or Aquilla's Alliance as they were shown. Thanks to Hasbro's incredibly stupid distribution in the past few years, the large stores don't want the large expansion packs any more (because they got their shelves packed with Orm's Return!!!!!). So WotC is trashing them and trying to think of a new way to package them so we get the stuff... someday... eventually...

OK, as you all know our honor has been challenged at the Dallas tourney. Jonathan and I are planning to go and represent...BUT, there is a problem. Jonathan and family are planning on spending the night there, and Jonathan gently declined letting me warm his feet at night  .
He he he, I really can't stay actually so we need to recruit others to go too. I just don't want to drive by myself and so we need to find a way to travel together. So, please, if anyone else can go, preferably another team of two, then please, please do so. Otherwiase I will not be able to go and JOnathan will not have apartner and we will prove how cowardly we are...Help.

I don't think Heroscape will bite the dust for at least two years, longer if all us 'scapers buy en mass when they get the new waves out. We might be able to pull through and show our worth in time to save Heroscape... Or Heroscape will completely die out in a couple years... J/K. :ninja:
Next time Dallas comes to us I can (and intend to) play, but there's no way I can get to Dallas for a weekend unless it's during the summer. :ninja:

Actually, the main problem with the Houston-area crowd is that we're all either high schoolers or parents of young children. Now if we were all "typical" college-aged gamers...

You know you want some practice before going to represent!
I would be willing to host a few people over, we would have to play on the floor (lotsa floor space, limited table space) which sounds bad, but I bought some of those sweet gaming chairs that sit on the floor.

One for the Marines' Toys for Tots next Christmas.
One to a local battered women's shelter.
One to make customs out of.

Rev,
The Marines are not disapponted by my donations, nor many of the other local charities.
I guess, I'll have to break one open and see if I like it or not before I decide. I was mostly doing some bragging of my wifes ability to find a bargain and her support of my gaming. :)

Well, if you decide to sell me one let me know.
I have started a thread for a gameday on 2/26. I know we had spoken about it but nothing firm had been said. Jonathan and I, and Junge if he comes really could use the practice before we represent on the Dallas tourney. http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?p=491833#523687
Also, I wanted to see if you guys agreed to the following. Since we never officially finished our last tourney and the only game remaining was me vs Prospect, and with the next tourney coming up, I figured we declare prospect the champion by default. We will probably not have a chance to play the final match before the next tourney since I would rather practice for Dallas. Also, since prospect went undefeated on the games, I see no reason not to declare him a winner even without playing the champoinship match. At least he could then sport the title until the next tourney which is still about a month away.
So if everyone agrees, then we'll just say he's the winner and the title goes to him. I will ask the moderator to go ahead and give it to him if everyone agrees.
