View Full Version : Non-Generals Background Question

I've seen topics about Jandar, Utgar, Ullar, etc., but I've never seen a topic about the other main 'characters'. If there is one, feel free to point me that way.

What I am curious about is who are Mallidon, Zanafor, Orm, Raknar, Thora, etc.?

Have the designers explained any portion of this background material? These guys sound like Important Personages, but there is no context.

They are surely not Generals (there are only the five). Also, if I am not mistaken they cannot be Valkyrie, either, because only the Generals are Valkyrie. Correct me on that if I am wrong.

I don't know where to find it, off hand, but there is some text with the packaging of the expansions that provides some back story.

Yeah.

Who is Mallidon and what did he/she prophesize?
Who is Zanafor and what did he/she discover?
Who is Orm and why is he/she returning?
Who is Raknar and what did he/she see?
Who is Thora and why does he/she want vengeance?

Whats next? Vizer's Downfall? (can i sopyright that just in case?  )

what about all the places the heroes com from (Nostralund, Laur, etc....)?

what about all the places the heroes com from (Nostralund, Laur, etc....)?

As far as I can discern the places are battlefields where these particular heroes came to prominence. I think a couple of the scenarios in the master set were Barrenspur, Nostralund, and some others.

I mean, I do realize that the background is kind of cobbled together, and it does approach non-sense in many places, but I like the game enough as it is that I would like a little bit of context for these skirmishes.

Maybe Hasbro could release a scenario/ background booklet? A scenario booklet seems like a natural for Heroscape, i.e. low cost/ high markup.

... who are Mallidon, Zanafor, Orm, Raknar, Thora, etc.? ... They are surely not Generals (there are only the five). Also, if I am not mistaken they cannot be Valkyrie, either, because only the Generals are Valkyrie. Correct me on that if I am wrong.

The Valkyrie are any Kyrie that drink from the Wellspring. There may indeed be more than the five Generals. However, the power the Wellspring provides fades without constant doses. And, thus came about the current conflicts over the land rights surrounding the Wellsprings. Thormun, for a time, was a Valkyrie (actually, he was the first) until he stopped taking his doses of Wellspring cold turkey. What sets the five Generals apart from other Valkyrie is the fact that they have learned to draw the Heroes they see in their Wellspring induced visions to Valhalla and fight for them. Utgar was one of the first to learn of this power and his ability to do so is stronger than the rest of the Valkyrie Generals.

... I should probably write a Front Page article on the Kyrie and their inherent social structure. I know enough about it to make me elegible for a Geekus Superioranus Award ...

for tital of "Geekus Superioranus Award"

I would also like a better put together background of all the people and places that is actualy writen (all the map senero storys / back ground info story in master set etc) in one place, now, not sure if this includes the comic/cartoons (they are sliightly difernt) but that should be included too.
that should then go into codex (4?)
