No, i don't like this game. I went to a friends and he said he was having issues with it loading and stuff, so i tinkered with his PS2 the best i could without taking it apart. Nothing.
What it does:
The system will load the game fine (IE no infamous Disc Read Error). it'll take him to the "Load your File" screen. He'll load it; it'll take him to the screen with all the jumbled text about it loading, then it'll go to a black screen that says Loading at the bottom right and will not advance from there.
At first i thought it was his system, since it was given to him out of someones closet after lack of use for who knows how long, so i tried it in my PS2 and still got the same thing.
Any ideas? The disc is in mint condition (IE no scratches)

How do you know i haven't? Are you trying to get me upset again? Is there not anyone who knows about problems such as these?
Again, if you think that nobody can help me, then by all means delete this thread

There is a reference to this in our forum guidelines:
There is a section on our site where off-topic random thoughts and all other items not related to Heroscape may be discussed. Use your best judgment when starting a thread there. Having an off topic section does not mean our site is to be used for you to post every trivial thing that comes to mind. Practice restraint and use the off topic section sparingly or you will dilute the value of our site as a place for Heroscape information. There is a certain amount of recklessness when posting about controversial subjects. If we get the sense that one of these threads was started as a way to infuriate and amuse we will delete the thread immediately or at the first sign of trouble.
Sure I am having fun busting your chops on this stuff but can't you see that it is not about me coming along and simply deleting the threads that we don't want. I want you to post more responsibly just a tad.. I still want you to be that same guy we all care about, but at the same time i want you to have better judgement when you post... And it is not just you.

ok uhh lets see it could just be the both of yalls ps2
if the game is in mint condition the only way it would act like that is if
-big scratch
-laser is messed up
-ur laser is not adjusted to the right setting (might be to close to read dvd's..) but ur ps2 seems to read it
is this the only game this does this on?

This isn't an off-topic random thought. i made this thread asking for help. I can understand some of the other things you've "busted my chops" for, but it does seem to be "just me." Have you said anything to deadeyedan42 about the ed edd and eddy poll he made? thats even more senseless than my coke or pepsi one and no body has said anything about it. And heroscaper2.0 resurrecting dead threads that could have been deleted back in may when they died, like the one about a display case for 99 cents on ebay. it's not there anymore, so that thread can be deleted.

-no scratches
-his laser was cleaned with a lens cleaner i have and my PS2 is practically brand new.
-i couldn't adjust the laser, but it did come to my mind. I would have, but i couldn't find a phillips head screwdriver.
Both systems work fine for any other game, but God of War is retarded and won't work in either of them

So let me ask you... Because I just went to the playstation website... They have a very expansive support section and many topics on PS2 including alot of technical help... Did you actually go there and seek help? My hunch is that you didn't.

i never said i did, and i never said i didn't. now it feels like you are stalking me.How do you think those folks over at the PS2 website would react if I popped in and asked them if Jotun could throw a flying figure while somebody is standing on the wind glyph?
Grungebob-"Hey Playstation dudes!! Can Jotun use his throw ability on a figure with the Fly ability even when somebody is standing on the wind Glyph?"
PS2dude- "Uhm.. did you ask the guys at Heroscapers?"

Well, first of all, my hunch is that the guys at the PS2 site have never heard of Heroscape, and that they sit in front of their PS3's all day. Here, however, we all have lives and know about stuff more than heroscape.
I came here to see if i could get some quick help on a minor problem. It's not my game, so it's not my full responsibility to figure out why it sucks.
Not to **** you off any more, but you could have avoided this whole debat with a few quick clicks of the left mouse button.

Did the disc spend any time in direct sunlight or near a heat source?
Data may have been lost from the disc itself by other means than a scratch or dust.
An easy way to tell if there is any heat damage is to look for a discolored area in the shape of a feather or egg.
It will look a little bit like oil on water. Make sure you have good light and take a carefull look, :D
I also feel that this is a GREAT place to ask thisquestion. There are many people here that you know and trust so it comes naturally to ask any questions here first, :D
I hope I helped, :)

I'm not too sure about that.
There are some ripple rainbow type things going on if you hold it at the right angle, but i don't think thats what you're talking about...It could be, because i looked at 2 other games, and neither of them have it...
Thanks, CupidsArt!

If there is heavy damage the dicloration can look like other shapes but if it's odd shapes it was more than likely subject to a direct heat source in different areas over the course of a long time.
If it is very little damage you will still have probs with it and it's better to have the problems at the load screen and not when you are half way through the game, :D
The game is probably gone for all accounts and may never work. If it is some sort of internal damage there isn't really any way to fix it.
I'd tell your buddy to save a few $$ and get a $20 PS classics version at Walmart.
Anytime, man, ;)

This copy of GoW already is a Greatest Hits. I wanna try a few more things out before replacing it though
See, GB. i got what i needed here. I didn't go to a PS2 site because 1) 99% of anything PS2 related is blocked, since i am on my school computer, 2) I don't know one (:google: which i did and got nothing because it's all blocked) and 3) even if i could find something, it's probably require registration and email verification, which i couldn't do until tomorrow (if i'm lucky)

No, i don't like this game.
A bit of a thread jack, but... how do you know you don't like the game if you've never played it?
Because honestly, the game is friggin' amazing and more than lives up to the hype people have given it!!

I've never played it, but i have seen it be played first-hand, and it's too gory for me. Don't get me wrong, i like gore, but this is just insane. It's so unreal; you get punched once by some zombie-thing and like 5 gallons of blood spill onto the floor...thats too much for me

Okay. Opinion taken. Just wanted to know why you said that if the game disc wasn't able to load. :) Carry on...

K/H,
Just keep in mind that I want you to think first before posting questions here. We have fielded questions about your various girlfriend problems, job ethics, PS2 and many many off topic questions for you.. You treat this place like a self help column in a newspaper. For the most part it is cool but I often wonder if you are taking the time to solve this stuff first before you post it on our forum. YES we have an off topic section, but it is to be used with restraint.. I don't think that is unreasonable at all. You're fortunate CA helped you out. Thanks Cupidsart.

Yes, GB. i do at least attempt to sort it out myself. I can't stand needing help from anyone. it's a major pet peeve of mine. I walked around school all day with a $20 lens cleaner so i could attempt to fix this. I spent 20 minutes digging through 2 drawers of crap looking for a screwdriver. I tried the game on 2 systems. Nothing worked, so i asked for help.
Ask any of my friends, they'll tell you. I refuse to have help unless all else fails. At that time, i may not go to the right place, but i do not give up hope.
i am sorry; i didn't realize i was such a burden here, with my life issues. I'll relax from here on out.

I know there are different versions of the PS2, more than just phat and slim. Some games wont play on slim, and some games have trouble on phat. Its matters what revision of the hardware and firmware you have.
That said, you can't do much about it. I'd just take it back to gamestop or wherever, even with your ps2 and tell them it doesn't work. I had to return 2 ps2s in a row there because they wouldn't play a game (this was within a couple weeks of buying them). Didn't cost me a thing, and now I have one that looks exactly the same, but works on all games.
good luck.
about the meta topic, I don't see KH as out of line at all. You have a problem, you go to your friends. I like to think we can meet real friends on this site instead of 'Heroscape friends.' its what the offtopic is for.

I knew that the early run PS2 had problems with the "trademarked" blue bottom discs, but didn't know it continued with some of the newer discs. This copy of God of War is a greatest hits, so i would think that it should work regardless of the system, but i could be wrong.

just thought i'd let you all know we fixed the game. arkarian took some rubbing alcohol to it and that seemed to fix it.
