Join the C3G as an official C3G Mapmaker!

Do you have what it takes to make SUPER maps and scenarios?

Then enter the C3G Mapmakers Contest to show everyone what you have got!

The Rules:

Enter two maps that are designed for C3G superscape. They can be casual maps, competitive maps, or even scenarios!

There are no specific number of master sets and expansions required for the map builds but please do keep in mind that we want our fans to be able to build these maps so keep your requirements reasonable.

The maps/scenarios must have a Batman theme (what that means is up to you!)

The C3G Mapmakers will choose the winners on July 31 and they will be invited to join the C3G Mapmakers.

Please post the virtualscape files. If you aren't able to post files, you can send them to C3Gsupers@gmail.com

Good luck!

How do you post a file?

You will need to either be a site supporter or have an account at a file hosting site such as mediafire. Simply upload it to mediafire then post a link to the download page.

Also, when are the maps due to be posted?

You can also send files to c3gsupers@gmail.com

Maps should be posted before July 31st.

My first map-

Iceberg Lounge-
2 Marvel, 2 Castle, 2 Tundra, 2-4 players, 800+ points, only unique heroes allowed.

Stalactites- When a figure starts to fly, leap, jump etc., that figure takes one wound.

Slippery ice, regular snow.

All 3 of those maps are pretty good looking ones. Really dig the first two as Batman Themed ones for sure. I've been working on a map myself that I'll get loaded up eventually. I want to play a few matches on it first to see how it actually plays. Just built in for real today after tinkering around with the concept in the Virtual file. Been thinking about adding a scenario to it as well just for the fun of it.

I'm looking forward to presenting it as so far I like how it has turned out as a map. Once I run a few games on it that opinion may or may not change. It is not an iconic Batman location though so Ivy's Greenhouse and the Iceberg lounge are going to be pretty hard to best. Still having fun with the project none the less. This contest was a good idea.

That's actually what I wanted to call it, but it would of lost some of flavor. I had to rain myself in since I really wanted to make it much biger with more cells. Maybe next time, I also have an idea for another one, but I need to find a way to prevent flying.

I actually didn't read the part about it needing to be BM themed until afterward, but the design still fits. It's a new type of building design I have been perfecting for a while that allows you to make very large and intricate buildings w/o having a ton of pieces.

I actually didn't read the part about it needing to be BM themed until afterward, but the design still fits. It's a new type of building design I have been perfecting for a while that allows you to make very large and intricate buildings w/o having a ton of pieces.

Might be Winfred's map.

*Edit* And so it is.

Although making the map in person is nice, you can always Virtualscape a map without having the sets to build it.

This is where I'm getting it from. It says nothing about up to two, and it is posed as if two maps are required to be entered.

I really didn't have any ideas spring to mind when the theme of this contest was announced. So I started out just doing some internet searches for Gotham City locations and came across this drawing.

http://catverse.wikispaces.com/file/view/GothamskylineCollectedIssuesoftheDarkKnight.jpg/34408963/GothamskylineCollectedIssuesoftheDarkKnight.jpg

And right in the middle of the picture, the words 'River Walk' jumped out at me. I didn't know Gotham had a River Walk but I use to live in San Antonio, TX when I was younger and have fond memories of the River Walk they have. There was also a movie when I was a kid called, Cloak & Dagger, that had a great scene that takes place down on the River Walk late at night. So for me this seemed like a great place to have a Superhero/Supervillain battle.

I based the Gotham River Walk on my knowledge of the San Antonio River Walk. This was the list of things I wanted to incorporate.

1. A river.
2. An open 'walking' area along the rivers edge w/some plant life.
3. A retaining wall to guard against flooding.
4. A street level where a patio area for cafes and shops might be found.
5. Steps connecting the two levels.
6. A bridge going over the river.

Here is what I came up with (a C3G Competitive Map):

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/yodaking/Heroscape/C3G%20Maps/FingerRiverWalk.jpg

Build Instructions:

Finger River Walk (http://www.mediafire.com/view/?5n8rggd979rxsau)

I did make a few notes concerning the use of the warehouse ruin base and a rock outcropping base so be sure to take a look at those on the last page before you begin building it. The 3 hex sand tiles located on the top most level (the patio/cafe area at street level) are there to represent some wooden tables. Sturdy enough for a person to climb up on during a fight. The battlements are a guard rail to keep kids from falling. The placement of the shadow tiles was determined using a flash light to represent the full moon at a specific angle.

I only included 12 standard start zone spots, each side has 3 on the upper street level, 3 in the water, and 6 on the walkway. This is to minimize the number of units starting off on the top street level. I've found a 12 hex start zone is enough for most C3G armies. If you are playing with a common squad heavy army though, just add one of the left over 24 hex tiles to the edge of the map behind your start zone on the walkway and fill it up with all those extra squad figures. I did not include the extended start zone on the build directions because it would have messed with one of the maps coolest features. If you have enough tiles on your own, or you and few friends have enough tiles combined to make 2 or more of these maps, they can be placed and connected in a row to form a longer river walk section.

To give my River Walk map a closer tie in with the world of Batman, I turned to my map of Gotham to determine where such a River Walk might be located since in the picture above it is not all that clear.

http://strangemaps.files.wordpress.com/2006/12/gothammap.jpg

After consulting the above map, I decided that Finger River seemed like a good place for a River Walk.

I did run a couple of hero based army tests on the map. One thing I wanted to check on was to make sure neither start zone had a clear advantage or disadvantage due to the placement of the bridge, steps, & shadow tiles. One army from each start zone won the match and I didn't really find either one to be have an unfair advantage or disadvantage. The battle did consolidate around the area of the steps, the bridge, and the two tables closest to that area both times though. Overall I found the map fun and filled with fast paced action. I hope some of you find the time to give it a try.

*edit* Can someone let me know if they can access the build instructions okay. I am new to using Mediafire and I can see them but I was not sure if others can.

ENTRY 2: Batcave Exit (http://www.mediafire.com/view/?17dvbw1f235jeqb)
Author: Zettian Juggernaut
Sets: RotV x2, FotV x1, RttFF x1
Suggested Glyphs: Any 2 Equipment Glyphs and Glyph of Team up.
Notes: The two yellow start zone spots are a Sport Car, wish it was the Batmobile. And I wish the Equipment Glyphs were Utility glyphs. The Batcave counts as an overhang, so you cannot fly over the wall. The only way in this through the doorway. And the ladders on the outside aren't actually there, it is just for support.

For my second submission, I wanted to try and keep the set requirements down while also making use of some of the great DOs C3G has made. This map is based on a concept I had for a Spiderman vs. Sandman battle but really it is a location that could fit into any city. After seeing the destruction Bane brought down on Gotham in the TDKR, this map even feels more fitting for the rebuilding phase. And so I present to you....

You can get away with using a large pickup truck (ie. a work truck) or SUV in place of construction vehicles. It would have a similar work zone effect with good LOS protection from any would be snipers on the building.

Oh, and more info on the construction vehicles I used can be found here (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=30565&page=651).

Part 2 of the trilogy of the batcave maps. This is exits and entrances (not quite as aesthetic as the batcave). I'm interested to see how this public design program is going to work. Maps are quite different in terms of process from units. I'm sure it will be top-notch!

I just put together Smithy's Skyscrapers/Streets of Gotham map. It's going to make a nice background for the Superman Wave Pictures.

Great pics! I couldn't help but notice all those minty Heroscape sets in the background. I miss the days where you could go to Toys R Us and see an entire section in the gaming department filled with Heroscape stuff.
