When you play team battles how do you do you turns? Do you move, oponnent, yout teammate, second oponnent or does your team go then your rivals go or any other way of moving. When my play group play team battles (very rare) we go by teams not indivuals

Team by team seems smother but player by player is more fair IMO.

IMO it doesnt really matter, as long as all players/teams can agree on the turns. everyone has preferences, my play group prefers team by team.

now i wanna do a team game. Thanks, josh!

According to Version 2 rules....

An initiative roll per player, not per team, decides who goes first each round then it goes clockwise from there.

One way of handling this situation is to sit with every other chair is a team member. That way no matter who wins initiative, the sides alternate going as the order goes clockwise around the table.

This is a standard solution to a lot of boardgames, etc.

The problem with this is you end up sitting next to opponents. There can be issues with people peaking at other people's order markers.

In 4 player games, team members sit next to each other. When it gets a lot bigger, we have to alternate, though.

LOL! We just lay the order markers down on their face and remove them when that turn is over.

When i play teams we just go counterclockwise starting from the right most person.

I'm lucky, I put up a foldable table in the living room. Then each player has their own "private" area elsewhere. Player1 gets the dining room. Player2 gets the couch, etc. Then I have portable carts and end tables to set up for even more space. Works out pretty good. We all meet up at the map to battle and go back to our private areas between turns to scheme.

I cant recommend a folding table enough for HS.

If you are taking turns by teams what happens when one team is down to one person? do you still trade off on turns?

Thank you ob1wan for really reviving this thread. When playing with teams, each team member is his/her own army, so a their turns are truly separate turns. So, yes, when a player is eliminated, his/her teammates suddenly received less turns per round. (Unless you houserule otherwise). Eliminating a player from the opposing team gives you an advantage akin to eliminating all the figures from an opponent's army card.

The few times I've played team battles:

-everyone rolls for initiative
-the highest roller goes 1st (team A)
-then the highest roller on the opposing team goes 2nd (team B)
-then team A's teammate moves
-then team B's teammate moves
-repeat after 3 turns

This way both teams move "equally".
It's nothing like having both your opponents go before you and wiping out a big amount of your team!

thanx for the response. Thats how I have been playing, seems like the best strategy is to take one out and then double team the survivor. Just wanted to make sure because when I beat my girlfriend she calls cheating on anything she can think of.

Whenever I play team games we just roll initiative like normal.

I liked the way the Dallas Team Tournament did it...teams sitting opposite each other and using the official rules.

When we do team battles (which is most of the time since there is usually 3 or 4 of us playing), we sit with teammates sitting next to each other and do turns in clockwise order from whoever wins initiative. Depending on who wins initiative one team could have both of their players take turns before the other team gets any turns, but it doesn't seem to upset the balance at all. The only time it can start to get unbalanced is if one team gets the +8 initiative glyph and continuously gets both of their turns first.
