Just thought of this when replying to the other topic. :D

It would be cool, but I think it would generate a lot a problems.

I totally think they should, but this is of course dependant on my North Texas homies hooking a brotha up...

That would be offical Hasbro support. Not gonna happen.

Oops, I misread the question. I thought it was referring to GENCONers getting an exclusive figure.
As for registered people on this site.... like Truth said, it ain't gonna happen. There are too many reasons why it would be an impossibility to even discuss.

i say yes, but i highly doubt it will ever happen. wouldnt it seem suspicious if one man asked for about 100+ figs?

Hasbro should include a figure with any hundred dollar order. That would be fair.

i think it would be nice but as someone said already i doubt it will happen

I agree, it would be great, but it just doesnt work that way. They would have to distribute it through WM or TRU again, something like that.

May 25th, 2006, 06:14 PM
Yes maybe a figure with a $100 or more order would be fair.....rather then allow the figures to be fleeced at ebay prices... :x

they could run an offical contest to make the next unit. But I know the spys who look here know that the community would pown them.

I said no, as I don't think Hasbro should recognize fan sites in such a way. I would be all for Hasbro giving exlusive repaints out for other reasons though...

Here is a great idea, give toys r us an exclusive figure that can only be obtained with a fourty dollar heroscape purchase. Not packaged like the Eov's but in its own little box. I say fourty because that allows you to buy a master set and get him. For all the marketing ideas I give Hasbro though they really should give me one for free :P

While investigating the infamous Nerak I dug through the Customer Support section and they had a note of at this time there is no way to acquire this figure. (I set it to notify me if the information ever changes.) Given the onset of the new snow tiles and such I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the next wave of figures as the demand is there and Hasbro would have to be nuts not to capitalize on such.l

OK I can't hold back any longer. You DO NOT deserve a free excl just for being here. Maybe if Hasbro saw the light and started a fan club ala other games then sure get you excl that way. You pay a memebrship or send in X number of UPC codes and $3 for shipping. There is nothing wrong or unfair about giving out an excl @ a Con.

I wouldn't say no either to a free exclusive figure but like Hahnarama said...it ain't gonna happen just for being registered on this site!!! Sorry!

I agree totally with hahna....an official fan club website would be the way to get a free figure. Hmmm....an official fanclub for HS could be quite cool. Maybe four times a year they mail a little newsletter with maps and scenarios and news and perhaps comics and some discount coupons for Hasbro games. They could send you an exclusive figure and t-shirt or sew-on patch or game-carrying bag or cap or some such for joining (and maybe a special fancy d20 or something to indicate you're one of the elite). Once a year on your birthday they could also send you a bonus unique glyph and scenario. Then the rest of the year you could get access to "secret" portions of the website with bonus content and first looks at new products and communications from the designers and other cool junk like alternate rule-sets.
If it was priced right I'd go for something like that.

Why don't we just have a contest (I feel I might regret this) that challenges people to make a custom that represents the heroscape community... it would have to be a playable character, represent us, but still somehow fit in, a model that everyone on the site could have access to would be a big plus, then one of the people with really great Photoshop (or similar programs) could do the card up real nice, and we could host it as our Mascot?
TheRealQ
June 4th, 2006, 12:18 AM
UD has already made a fleet of cards. Although it sounds like you are promoting the idea of a site mascot. I can't imagine it but maybe you can start a thread where the more creative members can provide imput.

I must say, I'm against all exclusives even for groups I'm part of.
They're simply unfair to the rest of the heroscape community - how many people are still peeved they either missed out on a Nerak or some Elite Vipers?
The beautiful thing about heroscape is that everything is (at one time or another) accessible for a fair price.

Yes...one of my kids....
His name is...um...Jimmy. Little Jimmy. Yeah....
And he's...um...god, how old are kids these days.....um, nine, he's nine!
Yeah, that's the ticket. Fan club here I come.
Pay attention Jimmy! You're going to enter the fan club for me!
Jimmy's a little slow.

This is the EXACT reason that I am giving up on HS. You think the world owes you all. Phht, screw it. Buy your figures at where ever and play the dang game.
So what if a lucky TRU employee got 50 Neraks - GOOD FOR HIM. Good for him selling them all on EBAY - IT'S called CAPITALISM. Call the whamublance.
Grow and realize that the world is not fair and go on living your life.

Wow. Someone pissed in your cornflakes, eh? Good riddance to you.
I don't think many, if any, folks here feel the world "owes" us anything. Lots of folks, like me, are against the concept of exclusives for groups.

While you're giving up on the game, could you give up posting as well? Just go out quietly, no reason to be a drama queen.

Mods, anyone else think that ph1zh's post was a little off the beam for this site?
BTW, I posted "NO". I do wish that they would find a better way of distributing them. Like for proofs of purchases for HS stuff, etc.

90% of all of these people are jokin about there kids. But let me get this straight on your third post, that means you posted twice somewhere else, can't wait to see that contribution as well, anyways you feel on your third post you can come in here and kick down doors and act like an ass. I will miss your contributions to us as a site, I truly will. And you pissed me off, I am the first one to jump on people for bein dirtbags to the new guys, but in your case I will make an exception. Sorry ph1zh but you must have really gotten off the wrong side of the bed.
This post was meant to be for people to give their opinions on whether they would like to see exclusive figures given to heroscapers, not one where people vent their frustrations on.
If you want to give up HS, fine thats your decision but don't start bashing other players of the game.
I'm all for the guy who has 50 neraks and sells it on Ebay, thats his decision too. But again that's not what the post is about...

So what if a lucky TRU employee got 50 Neraks - GOOD FOR HIM. Good for him selling them all on EBAY - IT'S called CAPITALISM. Actually, in the discussions where that was being discussed, it's called STEALING FROM KIDS.
But thanks for playing.
You play a deliberately misrepresentational game, so it's probably best you leave the game.

ph1zh if you care so much about the guy who has 50 Neraks become him become a TRU employee and stop complaining it won't get you any where I am maed that people have 50 Neraks and I have 0 but do I care NO.

I voted no simply because I think it sucks for the people who cannot get their hands on the figure. Yes it includes me :P
Now if they wanted to give out an exclusive member for being a scaper that would be fine especially since anyone can join the site :)

June 20th, 2006, 12:07 PM
It ain't gonna happen.
Although the Hasbro people at the Con's give them away, what is the reason? To reward the players of the game? No. It is the "Prodigal Son" approach. They are given away to raise interest/awareness of the game. There is no reason for Hasbro to give away a figure to members of a fan-site, the members are already converts and willing to do whatever it takes to get their greedy little mitts on the figures. I know, I am one of them ...
Rhydderch
June 20th, 2006, 12:34 PM
I agree Malechi. I only gave that scenario as an example of what I think would be agreeable =)
Obviously a free mini for members of a site of people who already play would not help their sales. Plus they'd have a bunch of shipping problems. Given how hard it is for them to get the regular sets to a store, they'd never be able to get a bunch of exclusive figures to our homes =P

They so need to take a lesson from the way that Kenner used to distribute and market Star Wars figures in the 1970s and early 1980s. I'll skip the Hasbro-hate rant, to help everyone out.

Hasbro absorbed Kenner ninthdoc, but they didn't get any of the knowledge apparently. I remember those days though and that's why I have saved every single receipt and UPC for every set I've purchased so far. A guy can hope right? :D
And now I have a question...
Is there even a figure being handed out at GenCon? Because until there is why are we worrying about it?

Yeah, this is all speculation at the moment. There hasn't been any official word as to what, if anything, the Heroscape booth is going to have as a handout.

I dont see it ever happening but if it did I would thinkit should happen through the method of a Fan Club type thing where when you sign up you get the figure.
