Well met!
The Gang of Four plus two guests is meeting on Friday for a 400 points apiece, six-way FFA Kill Da Guy On Da Left. Discussed Romans here (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=40458). They are, of course, not the only way to go . . .
140 Eltahale or DW8000 & Isamu
140 Heavy Gruts x 2
120 Grimnak
400, 11 spaces (probably the most fun, especially with DW8000, which I have never played!)
150 Q10
120 Grimnak
80 Blades x 2
50 Nerak
400, 14 spaces (@#$%! I'm missing one Blade!)
or
150 Brutes x 2
150 Goblins x 3
100 Krav
400, 21 spaces
or
150 Q10
150 Brutes x 2
100 Goblins x 2
400, 16 spaces
could work.
Or the easiest to play, no doubt . . .
210 Phantom Knights x 3
185 Nilfeim
495, 11 spaces
 My bad! I forgot to mention that Marvel and SoV/C3V are allowed!

There's always:
Kurrok
FE x8
Stingers x5
Krav
Venoc Warlord
Vipers x7 (guessing probably not)
Drones/ Dividersx8 would be fun
Gilbert
Finn/ Thorgrim/ Raelin
KoW x3

Well met!
I have no Knights or Vipers, and not enough of the rest. I'm also not inclined to play more than 3 of a squad. I'm looking for a way to field DW8000 now, other than with my Heavy Gruts . . .
150 Dividers x 3
130 DW8000
120 Torin
400, 12 spaces (but dies against Special Attackers )

In that army, I would suggest Kaemon vs Torin. Much better overall, and I don't like Torin, he just seems like a waste of OMs.

Considering the format (six-way FFA Kill Da Guy On Da Left.), I would want range to attack your opponent (on your left) and figures that are hard to kill (for your opponent on your right). Also, your range should be hard for the person on your left to hit back against. With this as the rules, I like this army.
150 Brutes x 2
150 Goblins x 3
100 Krav
400, 21 spaces
The Krav can hit (the person on your left) from a distance and will be very hard for the person on your left (who is trying to take out a different army) to kill. The person on your right should be frustrated by trying to kill Goblins and Brutes IF he doesn't have a special attacker.
If you wanted to take the same idea to its extreme, rats would be very tough to mop up in this format. This would be a very tough army in this (or virtually any) format. It hits hard with range, has special attacks, and leaves lots of rats behind to kill before your opponent can attack your offense forces.
100 KMA
180 Q9
120 Rats x 3
400 17 hexes
This has a little less cheese, but is very mobile, hits the person on your left very hard, and is hard to kill.
185 Nilf
120 GSW x 2
80 Rats x 2
10 Isamu
395 17 hexes
If you don't mind losing your friends, this would be a nightmare to play against.
100 KMA
80 Raelin
20 Marcu
200 Rats x 5
400 (25 hexes sit a rat)

What do you think of
210 Phantom Knights x 3
185 Nilfeim
395, 11 spaces?

Its a fine army, but probably not as good for this format. You will presumably have to keep the PK's behind while you first attack with Nilfheim. At 23 points per figure, they are much more expensive than my idea which was to leave Deathreavers behind at 10 points per figure. You also don't get to move the PK's with Nilfheim as you would with the GSW's, which limits your attacks.
One of the potential downsides to the Nilfheim/GSW army is that it can hit so hard that the person you are attacking may find it necessary to kill your Nilfheim.

From me, earlier in this thread . . .
"150 Dividers x 3

Although I am going to initially play
Ruthless
180 Q9
120 Deathreavers x 3
100 Krav
400, 17 spaces,
so as to win at least one game out of the, at least, two that we're going to play (given that we're starting as soon after noon as we can get the map built, and playing until late at night), and everyone knows how much I love Kaemon, the total Torin dis' rubbed me the wrong way. Eschewing Dividers for Stingers, as the map is so open, for the second or third game, I'm going to field
I Hate Kids
180 Stingers x 3
120 Torin
100 Krav
400, 14 spaces
In any event, I hope to play all the rest of these:
This is the weakest army of them all. I'll play it if I really kick butt in an earlier game.
Charge of the Orcish Brigade
140 Heavy Gruts x 2
140 Eltahale or DW8000 & Isamu
120 Grimnak
400, 11 or 12 spaces
Both of these armies have a chance. I hope we play a lot of games!
Pax Imperium I
150 Q10
150 Romans x 3
100 Marcus
400, 15 spaces
Pax Romanum II
150 Romans x 3
100 Marcus
100 Krav
50 Me-Burq-Sa
400, 18 spaces
Eraguy816
April 12th, 2012, 02:45 PM
Roman archers x2 110
Marcus 210
Parmenio 300
Sacred band x2 400
Eraguy816

Or the Orcish army,
Heavy Gruts x4 280
Grimnak
400 13 spaces

As I said to chas, when he posted a tentative, mostly melee, army:
"I fear for any primarily melee, as yours is, army on this map. But, of course, anything can happen."
Go in pieces, young gasshoppers!

...hmmm
It occurs to me that I'd really, really hate to see 4x Shades of Bleakwoode on the table in this format. They're fast, have good defense and have an ability that is strong against any adjacent hero on any activation. Plus, at only 400 points, any soul devouring is going to be more valuable than it would be in a game with larger armies.
