OK I just got this for the 360. The opening cut scene is fantastic. But the game is awesome fun to play. It is like a suped up Diablo. The effects are great and the game is easy to get into. Best of all, the Marvel characters are all really well done and capture the comics perfectly. I highly recommend checking this one out.

Yeah I got it last week, Love it. I play for about an hour every night before I head off to sleep.
I will say that the LIVE experience still leaves a little to be desired, :?
One of the most exciting things you can do is an Arcade match with 3 other buddies, that's fun!

What's the difference (besides graphics) between the Next Gen consoles and the PS2/XBox versions? Are there more characters or levels with the next gen? Are the graphics that much better?

And next-gen exclusives!
The Wii verson has more combos and makes using special abilities easier to use. The other two make it prettier.

At first I was going to get the PS2 version. I couldn't justify the extra $20 for a prettier game. I then took advantage of a buy 2 get 1 free sale on video games at Toys R Us, when I found out that Guitar Hero was considered a game. I decided to go with the 360 version to get the bigger bang for my buck and settled on Call of Duty 2 Game of the Year edition as the other game. I haven't had a chance to play Ultimate Alliance yet, but I'm considering returning either it or CoD2 and exchanging it for Gears of War in another week. Any advice?

I love HALO and like CoD2 but not enough to buy it. It is a fun game, but it is much like any other Shooter game. If you're a history buff then by all means ditch Ultimate Alliance. UA is still a fun game and it will take a good while to beat it, if you love working with a group, taking advantage of certain players abilities and searching for goodies hidden along the way, then ditch CoD2.
It is a HARD choice, both games have MANY great reasons to keep them. It really comes down to what kind of games you like playing, check some reviews, read up on both games then make a descision, :D

Ha! I was going to start a thread about this game yesterday. Too bad I forgot.
Yes this is definatly the best CGI opening scene ever. In fact all of the cutscenes I have seen are great. Sadly, I do not own the game. I will probably get it with the Wii. I see my team revolving around Dr. Strange. He is just so fun to play. When I get the game I will give a review. (Along with a Twilight Princess reveiw.) Until then, have fun playing!

He and Moon Knight are just horrid starting out. They don't hit, they can't kill and their health drops to quickly, but with time, they grow. You really have to make an investment into these guys to make them shine. I've heard that Silver Surfer is the same way, he takes alot of work, but man, when you get him there!
My teams are built around ranged fighters and Heavy melee. Colossus is great for close combat, of course all he needs to do is grab his enemy like a rag doll and slam him against another enemy,
Deadpool has is ranged better than melee. His guns help out alot when getting rid of obstacles. He also has Teleport some getting through Mazes and traps are alot easier. If you're stuck behind a wall, double jump and the rest of your team is forced to teleport with you.
Moon Knight has his Solar Eclipse and Moon attacks. This are fairly harmless towards the begining of the game, but when built up they make for great crowd control, especially in Mephisto's realm (since they bounce around until they hit an enemy).
I've heard great things about Ghost Rider, Blade and Silver Surfer, though I don't have the Surfer yet but he will be a big part of my group when I do.

The best advice I can give you is to play around with them. It's always good to have a Flyer/Teleporter and you NEED to have a heavy lifter (ie strong guy, Cap Amer, Wolverine, Colossus, Thing). Projectile people are good to have as well (ie Spidey, Deadpool, Electra, Human Torch).
What I chose and why.
I combined My Flyer/Projectile people into Deadpool and since he teleports I can get around easier and his Guns let me stay back sometimes when attacking.
I use Colossus because He can lift/move heavy objects and his Earthquake style ground attacks can hit large groups.
I chose Moon Knight to have his multiple attacks. He has some very simple combos BUT when done right they will do maximum damage. He also has Lunar Eclipse and another attack that shoot out multiple moons that bounce around the area that your in untill they hit an enemy. This means alot to me since I won't waist as much energy with him, plus he's one of my favs, :D I may not get rid of this guy but may HAVE TO, if I really want both Black Panther and Surfer on my team.
Ghost Rider is just a filler, I like his long distance chain attacks but really he doesn't have much purpose, he does look nifty though, :D
Alot of the character choosing comes down to what you want to play and how you play. I'm certain you will go back and forth a few times between characters. You have the ability to choose from many characters and fairly often as well. The save points also allow you to change your team around, :D

They are agreat team, but they aren't my type of team. They have everything you need plus they get a boost for being together. There are certain boosts in the game. Like if you use Deadpool, Black Panther, Electra and someone else you get a Merc bonus that gives you 60% more $$ with every kill.
If you use Colossus, Iceman, Wolverine and Storm you get the X-Men Bonus.
If you choose Black Panther, Storm, Captain America and the Invisible Woman it's called Double Date and you get like a 50% health bonus.
These may be a little off but certain combinations will get you certain bonuses and the F4 get one but I can't remember what it is.
I will say that Mr. Fantastic has a fun move where he becomes a rubber bal and rolls around hitting his enemies, :D
PS I will say that I'm a little angry that you can't get the F4 bonus by substituting one of the F4 for Spiderman, He was technically part of the team at one point, :D

So I take it this is very similar to X-men Legends II? (Which I loved by the way). All the 4 person team synergy bonuses and the building the guys up, very similar. I am looking forward to getting it. It is out for PS2, correct? I think I saw someone say that earlier.

I'll pick it up sometime next year when I buy my 360. I'm waiting until sometime around when Halo 3 comes out to see if the price drops.

I think the 360 will drop at least a little as sort of a middle finger to the PS3 and Wii when they comes out. In the past that sort of thing has happened, and it would make sense that it will happen again. Microsoft is going to want to secure customers that had a wait-and-see attitude, and price is often a good way to do that.
Halo 3 isn't coming out until sometime in late 2007. By that point 360 will be two years old, and we could see another small drop shortly afterwards, especially if we didn't see one in reaction to the PS3. When the original XBOX hit about year 2 and a half, it dropped an extra thirty bucks on top of the dip it had already taken (it was at about 170-180ish), and could be purchased for about 140-150ish, down from the 200 and change (I think?) it had started at in late 2001. If we accept that 5 to 6 years is the average lifespan of a console now, a dip at the half-way mark makes sense to try to move more units.

It's interesting that The Hulk is excluded from the game. Much like the Civil War storyline the Hulk is absent, primarily because they couldn't control him. Makes sense that he's not in there. Then again, another company may have the rights to the Hulk video games. I also find it interesting that the Winter Soldier made an appearance considering how relatively new his character is (although he was formerly known as Bucky and assumed dead).

Hulk isn't in because of a combanation of being WAY too strong and someone else having his rights. And I, too, fins th inclusion of Winter Soldier odd.

I think its more of a rights issue. Thor is a god and he's playable.
Btw, I did come across a website with cheat codes to unlock a bunch of things. The only one I would consider is the one for the costumes. I hate playing Ultimate Thor. I want the classic version with the classic Mjolnir, not that hammer/axe combination.

I was just messing with johnny. Since Nintendo is geared towards family, I tried to think of the most family friendly superhero group. Power Pack is all I could come with. As for the PS3, I'm still mad at the choice of the Tekken guy for the exclusive in the Soul Caliber 2 game. All I owned at the time was the PS2. The Gamecube had Link and the XBox had Spawn. I finally made it to the boss and destroyed it.... Then I got a cool cutscene and when the next bit was starting to load I get this disc error message!!! I am still pissed as all of my progress was lost due to the lack of save spots. :frustrated:

I find that in any game where you build up character stats and equipment, late game bosses tend to be far easier than the mid-game bosses. I think the problem is by the end of the game you've powered your character to an uber-level and the game wasn't designed to keep up and challenge a player of that level.
Recently, Fable and Resident Evil were real culprits here. Both fun games, but both had weak late-game challenge. I remember in Fable I was just steamrolling enemies by the end of the game because I was so maxed out. In RE4 I was hauling around an armory worth of guns and ammo and just blew up everything in my path in the final stages....not exactly challenging.
I think it might be interesting to see a game that takes powers away as you go, rather than adds them. Start you off uber, then strip ya down to just your wits and a sharp stick in the last levels to see how good you really are.

Okay, I don't own a platform game system. My son has a GameCube, but it's his and I don't hardly play on it (and let's face it, Nintendo doesn't seem long to support it at this point).
So anyway, thanks for the discusssion about the intro movie. Shame on all of you for not even mentioning that the main man is in it and he's done right. No sign of the Hoff anywhere. I saw the intro at Grungebob's today and as soon as it came up I saw the Helicarrier, I thought, "Could it be?" Then Nick showed up and I looked at GB and said, "Hey! It's the main man!"

Well, I beat the game on Normal mode on the 360 with all the simulator discs and both Daredevil and Black Panther unlocked and no Silver Surfer. I'm having trouble with the missions with the characters I've never used such as with the entire Fantastic Four. I need to mix them up with some of my more powerful characters and get their levels and abilities up a bit.
