If you like DC comics you will love FlashPoint. We are reading it now and it is a great read. I can not wait till it is over because it will cause a complete reboot of the DC comics bringing the wild storm universe completly into the normal DC universe. Its not just another universe anymore it is all on one earth. :o

Except its not a complete reboot.
Some things are rebooted to square one while others a barely retouched. It's a horrible mish-mash that has alot of DC fans confused because they don't understand how there can have been 3 Robins, yet Batman has only been about for 5 years or so.
DC really needs to stop rebooting every decade or so.

Not in comic continuity he hasn't.
The problem is in the current comics, Bruce Wayne isn't Batman. The original Robin is currently Batman. Except with the reboot, everyone will have been around for 5 years or so supposedly, so how there could be 2 Batmen (Bruce and the original Robin), Jason Todd running around, and Damion as the current Robin makes zero sense if it's only been 5 years. Some characters are being totally rebooted, while others are seeing little change, it's the inconsistency that makes it confusing.

I am actually pretty excited for the reboot to give us a better jumping on point. Definitely going to jump on to Flash, Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Red Lanterns, the Justice Leagues, and maybe a few others. It's nice because I don't have dozens, if not hundreds of back-issues to catch up on.

Thats the great thing to some readers, the way that they rebooted things back in the 80s was they merged the worlds with the crisis on infinite earths, alot of characters stayed but had no past and others were slowly reborn over time. It makes it easier for people who want to collect comics or who want thier kids to start reading them, they do not have to buy big omnibuses to know all of a heros or villians back ground and life story. They can jump on and like the current version without having to learn alot of history, which can be conveluted anyway.
I collected when I was a kid then my parents sold them while I was away in the military. I started again in early 2000 and go till now. Now I can dump a great deal of titles and only keep a few. It works for me, but I know it wont for all fans, but thats the great thing, some die hard fans are the ones who get to work for these companies and bring things back with a new and inovative and from the companys perspective, money making way.

Wait wait wait. They're reviving Bruce and removing the fresh cowl from Dick?
And, for reference "Batman first appeared in Detective Comics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detective_Comics) #27 (May 1939)".

Dick will NOT be Batman.
How Batman has had 3 Robins (one fully grown) and had a son old enough to become Robin will be interesting with just a 5 year career.

My impression is that Dick Grayson was probably 11-13 originally, and 25-27 now. So I'd say Batman was probably 25-30 when he started his Caped Crusader career and 39-46 now.

 As an older fan, I use wikipedia to keep updated on some of the Marvel/DC reboots as best I can. But isn't it interresting that its the originals that seem to be coming back, like Hal Jordan and Barry Allen? Hmmm...

Except after the reboot, Batman will have been Batman for 5 comic years. So it makes no sense.

Things are new and old, they rewrote the dc universe with the flashpoint, but kept alot of the bat world the same. Some history is totally new so lots of people can jump on to the comic world without having to know 60 plus years of history and some is the same but the villians are nastier, meaner, and deadlier, and everyone uses a whole lot more curse words.
It is what the alternate comics were created for and are no longer nessesary because of these changes.
I am still stoked and loving every minute of the new stuff.
Anyone else still liking it or do you think they will return to the old universe in less than 3 years?
