It will be from noon to 8 at the Atrium School, 69 Grove St., Watertown, MA.

Here's a map:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&addtohistory=&address=69%20Grove%20St&city=Watertown&state=MA&zipcode=02472%2d2826&country=US&geodiff=1

And here's directions:
http://www.atrium.org/contact.htm

I'll have plenty of tables and chairs. Bring your own Heroscape and snackage.

All are welcome. I know of at least 4 "adults" and 3 kids who are coming, if you want to let me know if you're coming and I'll PM you my cell #.

See you there.

It's an open gaming thing. No cover. But Gorrilinators get in extra free...

Man that is awesome.

I was kinda thinking it would be nice to just get together and have a casual gaming day with everyone, as opposed to a tourny for the next time.

If you need boards I can pitch in.

I think just hanging and playing will be fun before we all get down and dirty again in January......

Watertown... Wow, I'm 20-25 minutes away from Watertown. I'd totally be down for some open gaming. It's awesome that the RI comic place will have meet ups too. Good to see the Community is coming together. My g/f loves playing Heroscape too, so she'll most likely come as well.

Coolness.

I would like to run a kids only (14 and under) tournament at the December get together if there's enough interest. I got at least three kids, anyone else?

Dude - why don't you work with the NH scapers to pull a tourny off in southern NH? I'm sure you'd get some of us Boston types.

Can't make the Nov 11th date. Silly real life.

I'll get there 11:30 to 11:45. So far we're up to AT LEAST 8 alleged adults and four munchkins capable of independent movement without Adam.

I'm thinking of testing out some really weird armies ... like all romans and greeks. Another one I've been thinking is a game where all armies have to have one trait in common -- like valiant or tricky or all one race or all soldiers or anything besides one general. Although now that we have the flagbearers one general would work, too. So far I've tried out the Orc flag bearer and the Knight flagbearer, I want to try out the Gorillinator flag bearer but my son won't share it. :P

What's the most players you've ever had in one game? It would be interesting to try 5 or 6 ...

Hey constantine, a favorite army of mine is:

Marcus
3x Roman Legionairres
3x Roman Archers
Sacred Band
Guilty
----------------------------
Total 495pts

I do well with this army and had won some matches at the Ma. Tourney back in Sept.

On a side note, I think it'd be killer if we had a 6-person team battle. What does everyone think?

curseyoukhan
November 7th, 2006, 10:52 AM
I'm liking the giant game idea. But it will be small armies, I think. Say 350 pts so we don't spend all day at one game.

Were you thinking 3-on-3 or 2-on-2-on-2.

A 4-on-2 Large Castle assault might be interesting as well.

I think that we should take the first hour or so and build a bunch of maps of varying sizes and then people can just map hop through out the day and play on each other's creations.

I was thinking an every person for him/herself but I like your ideas a lot.

I like the 2 on 2 on 2 concept... Having teams would really make the battle interesting since everyone will have their own theme...

Could you imagine if someone brought an all orc army and had to team with someone who brought an all viper army? that'd be one helluva swarm battalion.

I used to play a lot of 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3 games when I first got into HS (even played a 4 vs 4). We also used to build epic maps. Those games could last you like 4-5 hours.

As long as you limit the size of the armies and battefield, you should be able to do a 2on2 match in 1.5 hours.

Well I like the idea of playing a huge MONSTER match, I'm not sure that I'm going to want to limit myself to spending most of the day playing the same army against the same people. I think I might want to try a few different armies and play against a number of different players.

Also, if anyone is interested, I have a list of 25 different armies using all of the non-exclusive figures through wave 5 (no FBs). Each team is about 400 points (380-410). Randomizing who you play with saves some time in choosing armies and forces you to use some different units. I've tried to conserve some synergies, so it's not a completely random mix of characters thrown together (although that can be fun sometimes too).

Hey Constantine,

Looks like Saturday won't pan out for me. I'm doing a HS themed birthday Sunday afternoon, so adding another HS event on Saturday is probably going to be a stretch with the boss (Mrs. Pilgrim).

Thanks for hosting it though! The New England HS community grows stronger with each event . . .

First off, let me again say thanks to Curseyoukahn and A smiles for a great day of casual scapin'

My son was raving on the car ride home how it was the best day ever playing HS....

He doesn't get to play with other kids much, (exept his sisters, ugh), as its pretty much just him and I so it was a real treat for him.

I'd haffta say the closest and most heated battle of the day was with BTLMatt. It was our first of the day and the best contested...

I had
Murphy
Ralein
monks x1
Parmino
Sacred band x2
blastatrons x1

vs his
Syvarris
Aubrien archers x 2
WoA x1
Drake
Theracus
Deadeye dan

Dan and Syv kept the greeks and Parmino at bay for a bit and forced a bum rush by Murphy and the monks with Ralien helping out

meanwhile the elven archers and the B'trons had a bit of a stand off.

After killing Dan and Syv the game was wildly in my favor....for a bit....

The elves and Drake took care of that!

ultimatly I did win but it was a closly contested end battle between a few greks and the WoA..

The game that was the most fun though was the 5 way game we played.
Every one had a flagbearer and thier general specific army

It came down to Krug vs two B'trons.......

fun day , and I made it home with no problems

Thanks to everyone who came out. It was a fun day with Matt, Barry, Adam, Bill and ... oooh I forgot the other guy's name .... nice guy ... sorry ... we hope to play a game of Twilight Imperium together ... anyway those were the alleged adults who played. On the kid front we had CurseYouKhan Jr., Mosby, Phineas, Patrick (aka OPrime Jr.), Leonard and Wilder. I'll post pics later.

I'll start this on a separate thread but I'd like to start getting a head count for the kid's tournament in December since it's my goal to have prizes for EVERYONE. So if you have kids who are likely attendees, let me know. (PS: I would rather face Barry than Patrick in a tournament. Patrick wailed in our final 5 person free-for-all game.) Also for grownups I'm going to do open gaming while the kids duke it out for title of Under Baron (or Baroness) of BeanTown.

He's a Heroscape monster! I got to play with him last weekend and loved every minute of it. He's got a fantastic personality and brought a level of energy to the game that kept me laughing. Seriously, adults who complain about playing against kids don't know what they're missing.

I'm the elusive 5th adult! I had a great time, thanks for hosting in the Great Hall of the Hexagonal Tables. Hopefully I'll be able to stay longer next time, and I'll remember to wear a name tag this time around.

I'm glad to hear that Patrick, who replaced me in the battle of five armies, took Krug on a rampage. I'm sure Krug was glad to get rid of me, since I managed to get half my army wiped out in the first turn.

It was a great day to get together and casually play some Heroscape. I agree with you OPrime in such that our battle was a great match, right down to the final figures. You created a great battlefield for it too.

OPrime's son is an awesome kid. He's gives me a run for my money in some battles I've had with him. Not only is he a good scaper, but he's a well mannered kid and fun to hang out with.

ASmiles, thanks for your list of armies... I'll plan on using some of them when next time I play against my girlfriend.

Thank you OPrime for killing the one gladiatron of ASmiles that basically tied up the Romans the whole game, heh. Look forward to the December get together...

Thanks again to Constantine for organizing. It was alot of fun.

ASmiles, thanks for your list of armies... I'll plan on using some of them when next time I play against my girlfriend.

The list certainly isn't perfect. I use it mainly for 2 reasons. 1. to cut down on the time spent choosing/drafting armies. You can get a lot more matches in when army selection is limited to a single die roll. 2. To force you to use all of the figures.

While not meant as tournament caliber armies, I tried to preserve some theme or synergy with each army. And there were a few where I had to combine the straglers. I also tried to give as many armies as possible a balance of range and melee. If you have any suggestions for changes that keep everything well balanced let me know.
