Revdyers Pregame pep talk!:
May the roads rise up to meet you
May you always take the heights
May your enemies be small, and your friends strong and fast
May your decisions be wise, and your choices good
And until you play me,
May all your red dice be skulls, and all of your blue ones shields
And all your D20s come up so good for you that you will always rejoice. Amen

Chicagoland Tourney was postponed, so it was a one on one rematch between Nwojedi and myself.
Neo won all three
It really must be said though, initative rolls were huge as usual.
Great time though.
And I did get to rock on the LOTR Pin for a while, so it was worth it.

Zet Guards (70)
Rats (X3) (120)
AE (110)
OmniKron "Killers" (100)
623 total points
7 wins
0 Losses (two were due to time, so not a pure shut out)

I played:
Venoc Warlord
2x venoc vipers
EOV
Dead Eye Dan
Armoc Vipers
(425 points total)
Unfortunately, today was not my day to play because I ended up losing each game from my lack of ability to roll frenzies or potent attacks when required.

Great fun, great people, great games. I went 3-2 in the tourneys and 1-1 in pickup games. Really cool folks that I met for the first time: justjohn, revdyer, finrod, and longheroscaper. Folks I don't see that often and wish lived closer: LilNewbie, everybody from Austin, and everybody from Houston.
I got a my first game in with Newb, since we did not have an opportunity to play at GenCon. I played the rev and justjohn in the tourney.
Coolest thing that happened to me all day: Last night, justjohn sent me a pic of a sweet knight that he had repainted as a custom. It was beautiful. I spent all last night and this morning thinking that it was a custom that he was putting on the prize table. Holy Crap! jj made it just for me and gave it to me before the tourney ever started! He's a hella cool custom called Lord Cory IX (named after yours truly :D )! I was in complete shock. The fig is magnificent and the custom's powers are outstanding! I told jj, and I truly meant it from the bottom of my heart, "I feel like I've already won today!" Nothing else mattered today just good times, there was no stress, I'd already won.
I loved the rev's benediction. It was appropriate and spot on. Today was damn near as cool as GenCon. Thanks to wisinger for hosting us, DMG for running the tourney, and everybody else for being everybody else. I had a great time. http://www.winkyboy.com/desktopmodules/yetanotherforum.net/images/emoticons/bigsmile.gif

Reporting from the the Pacific Northwest! We played 400 point games, and had a great turnout (20 or so people). I used:
Deathreavers x2
Syvvaris
Ninjas
AE
I went 3-1, only losing to my girlfriend in the finals. She was playing
Nakita Agents
Raelin
Krav Maga
Warriors of Ashra x2
So she went 4-0 and netted a sweet $50 gift certificate to House Mouse!
Going back, I would have swapped out my ninjas for Sgt. Drake. The ninjas never saw combat in all four of my games!

Well we had a dandy ol' time!
Setup took a longer than I had thought. We got our space at 3 and didn't get the ball rolling (start game 1) until 5, wow the time flies!
Our first Seattle Tournament featured 16 Tournament Participants, plus 3 others (myself, JandarSunstar who wasn't feeling very well, and a latecomer, Mortibus) Sorry to JandarSunstar and Mortibus that I couldn't play in the side game better.
I'll get some pictures up and more details in the morning, I'm pooped!

Awesome day in RI
MrBistro should change his name to mrBEASTro, he was the man yesterday.
As for me I went 2-2:
Deathreavers x3
Marden hounds x2
Omicron snipers x2
I really liked how this army performed, even in the losses.
One loss was againts Ninja himself and the terrain played a huge part in his advantge over me with his minions and taelord gaining the high ground more easily
the 2nd loss was againts an all soulbourg army...can you say useless hounds, although thier strong attack did help.

I went 4-1 in the RI tourney with a 'tron army:
Major Q9
Gladiatrons x2
Blastatrons x2
I did great in my first 4 games, but my last game left me under the table screaming, "Not in the face! Not in the face!"
Jormi_Boced
October 22nd, 2006, 09:48 AM
I went 4-1 with this army:
3x Romans
1x Marcus
1x MBS
1x NGS - He mindshackled once
1x Krav Maga
Some fun interesting oddities from our tourney are as follows:
- There were a couple Hawthorne's in play, but one player had his Hawthorne bail on him in two different games:)
- There was one mindshackle occurence:)
- One player that finished 3-2 with 11 victory points actually finished with a negative differential:)
- One game ended in a true tie after the time limit expired, an what was even crazier than that, was that they both still had all 490 points on the table. Only a couple of figs from different squads were lost a piece  There had similar ranged armies with Nakitas, so I can see where the lack of lossed figure would happen, but it was still crazy:)
There might have been some more. I will have a full tourney report and pics soon.

I went 2 & 2...
Krav
Nikita
Gorillas
Alistair
Scotsmen
The other armies I was considering right until the end ... sted of the all-scottish brigade, double gorillas and Carr for an all agents army, Brunak & Finn w/Brunak carrying Finn wherever he went, Krug & the Knights (great band name, IMHOP), Crixus & Carr. I hadn't really played w/alistair and co before and really liked how they worked.
My son (10) went 1-3 but nearly beat me in the last game as it came down to my Krav vs. Q9 at the end.
Krav
Q9
Snipers x2
And I think if he'd done a better job of using his army he could've wiped the floor with me.
What formats did people use for their tournaments? We did 4 rounds and then top six advanced to a play-off for the top pick of the 10 prizes (this was a last minute change because our site closed earlier than expected but worked well.)

Just want to point out that I think 8 of these events received some kind of prize support direct from Hasbro. What does this mean? Well to me, it means that Hasbro notices us and that they are excited about what we are doing for the hobby. It also means that they know what we are planning here on our forums. It means we are doing something right here at Heroscapers.com!!

placed 6th but gave up my choice of prizes so others could take somthing home for this awesome tournament
it was at my friends comic shop disposable heroes.it was a grand time, I'm not sure the official numbers but I think we had about 20-25 people show up
my only two losses were against those silly gladiatrons and blastatrons 1st time it was bistro

Chicagoland Tourney was postponed
Yeah I was bummed, I even spent time making sure I could set my alarm clock properly.
me too [bummed]. i'm back from Vega$ and trying to get caught up on all the great HS activity that's been going on...
before anyone asks, no i didn't win any $$ and no i didn't lose any either. just took lots of pics up and down the strip while wife was in meetings at her conference. (i must have walked about 15 miles in 2 days.)
we will get the Chicagoland meetup rescheduled. just won't be in the same kind of spotlight it could have been had it been part of the big nationwide event.

Congratulations to all of yesterdays winners!
I went 2-3 in the DFW tourney, playing the hugest pile you will ever see:
Theracus, DED, MWs, MBS, Raelin, 3xRats
Two of my losses were called for time with the closest one being against lilnewbie. After an hour of play, he still had 300 points of cards in play and I had 270.
I played 3 of my 5 games on Fault Line; 2 for losses...that will be the last time I submit one of my maps for tourney play ;-)
My only outright loss was to Velenne and it was very close. Though one of my time losses was to crunkster, and it wasn't close at all as he had a half health Charos and I had a bunch of rats left over.
I knew my pile army would have trouble bringing big boys down, like Brunak and Charos; that turned out to be the case in two of my losses.
Good games all around. I am so thrilled that somebody won a tournament (and a 34 player tourney at that) with rats as the focal point of their army. Even with the errata, the rats are still an amazing, albeit downright annoying, addition to the Heroscape world.

Ok Guys, Here's the breakdown from the RI tourney!
Note: I've done my best to shield real life names, but if I miss something, or you want your name switched to your user name, please PM me and I'll do it asap.
These are the total points after the 4 normal rounds. Afterwards we had one round with the top 6 players to determine order of choosing for the top 6. Bistro was a monster with points as you'll see below.
22 Total Participants
Rankings after 4 rounds:
1: 3387 MrBistro
2: 2794 Minotaur35
3: 2735 Matty
4: 2630 Adam
5: 2494 kmpags
6: 2280 Fattest Ninja
7: 2271 Pilgrim
8: 2266 Dave
9: 2176 Constantine
10: 2156 Robbie D
11: 2137 Will
12: 2016 Rick
13: 1975 O-Prime
14: 1860 Jenn
15: 1771 Nater (on only 3 days experience!)
16: 1510 Constantine's son
17: 1409 Constantine's Son's friend (Mos)
18: 1265 O-Prime's son
19: 1263 Neal
20: 1055 Michael
21: 768 Fattest Ninja's friend's wife
22: 575 Constantine's Son's friend (Ph)
The top 6 battled it out for one more round and selected the prizes based on those final scores. Unfortunatly, I don't have the top scores because I wrote on the board in yellow marker... yeah, i'm just that smart.....
We had 10 prizes: 4 Castles (3 of which were graciously donated by Hasbro. Thanks Hasbro!!!), 3 small boosters from wave 5, 1 Thaelenk Tundra, 1 Elite Onyx Viper Master Set, and 1 set of custom figures c/o Kmpags.
Bistro in a top notch classy move, selected the Elite Onyx Viper Master set, but because he had plenty of Vipers, he put them BACK ON THE PRIZE TABLE, and just kept the master set!! I decided to forgo taking any prizes, so the top 12 players ended up getting prizes! (if I counted right)
So all and all a really fun day all around. It looks like everyone else had a great time too. I'm interested in seeing a final count on how many people (that we know of) participated in national heroscape day!

As an added note, Cornpuff came in second, but donated his choice of prize to the person who had won the fewest games since his girlfriend had won first prize. Very cool!

Everyone had a great time in Oakland, we had almost 12 hours of gameplay!
The loudest game of the day had to be HeH and myself playing a lava encrusted battlefield. It came down to HeH's last figure Brunak with 1 Life vs. my Ne-Gok-Sa with 2 Lives. During the first few rounds HeH's Nikita Agents wiped out my Microcorp Agents. Early in the game I had height and slowly picked off Heh's Gorillanators, Raelin and Nikita Agents, this left HeH with only Brunak. I was holding the high bridge with my Nikitas and Gorillanators with Ne-Gok-Sa making his way up to the battle. Brunak went wild thinking he had nothing to loose - he summarily devastated my squads until it came to the final showdown ... where Ne-Gok-Sa rolled a Mindshackle on Brunak to win!
My Armies for National HeroScape Day:
Good Fellas 400 Points 2 Wins/0 Losses - By far mty favorite Army!
• Swog Rider x2
• Krug x1
• Nerak x1
• Arrow Gruts x2
• Blade Gruts x2
Nature Hunters 400 Points 1 Win/0 Losses
• Ne-Gok-Sa x1
• Gorillinators x1
• MicroCorp Agents x1
• Nakita Agents x1
Might is Right 390 Points 0 Wins/1 Loss
• Shaolin Monks x1
• Ninjas of the Northern Wind x1
• Kozuke Samurai x1
• Syvarris x1
Cold Crew 400 Points 1 Win/0 Losses
• Raelin x1
• Dzu-The x2
• Omnicron Snipers x1
• Theracus x1
• Guilty McCreech x1
Then of course the was the 6 way free-for-all to grab and hold the multiple door castle, most figures inside after 6 rounds (cut back to 3 rounds due to lateness of the day) ... sheesh was there a lot of backstabbing in that game!

Don't ever play Mal after he's driven 100+ miles and has been sitting watching a 4-way FFA. He's merciless with the smack talking.
Gloat a little bit longer, Mal. I'll get you next time.
Btw, THAT BOARD SUCKED!!! (no offense, Dnutt99!)
Short after this image was snapped off, Brunak put down his blade and hugged the Marro Warlord. "Why were we fighting?"

Got up super-early yesterday and left home at 6:15 AM. 300 miles later, I parked the car and hurried inside to find utter chaos. Markwars pointed at Ninthdoc and said, "He needs help setting up some maps!" Not even knowing who it was that had just told me that, I hurried over, shook Ninthdoc's hand and started building.
Great, great time. Too bad I went 1-4.
But it wasn't that big a deal. I wanted to experiment and see if I could use Taelord competitively in a 400 point army without the Minions. So I had the big red guy, Nakitas, and Deathstalkers. I was hoping the +1 would make the Nakitas deadly enough for the points, while the smoke would protect Taelord, too.
Besides my one win, the other games were all fairly competitive (made a STUPID mistake in the first game by not burning off the Kelda glyph and Charos got it after six wounds!!!), except with Anneiros. Deadeye Dan picked off all three Nakitas in three straight attempts. Talk about a slaughter!
Despite losing so terribly, I still got me some more rats and Romans for prizes! Yes, we had that many prizes! As soon as the prizes were distributed (and Johnathan got the final Waffle House mug), I jumped back in the car (which complained mightily about all this driving) and started back another 300 miles, making it home a couple minutes before midnight.
So... 600 miles later, I had a great time, got to meet a lot of people (though because of my poor standing, I didn't get to play many of the "big shots"), and am still trying to catch up on my rest.
Glad I could be there. Big thanks to everyone!!!!

My DFW Tourney recap.
I played a mostly ranged/defense based army: Nakita, Krav Maga, Deadeye, Raelin and the rats. 400 points.
It was great to finally meet Lilnewbie, Finrod, JustJohn, UPC, Rychean, Lilwis, Wisinger, SaintBYgrace, RevDyer and DrLivingston (sorry if I missed anyone). There were so many people there that I did not get to meet everyone, but it was a nice crowd and the gaming was top notch.
Some highlights of the event for me were:
The massive heartfelt cheer when the final game between Markwars and Wisinger ended. Congrats to those guys.
Revdyer and I wondering if we were in the wrong building when we showed up a bit before 10:30 am and found no one there.
Listening to Ninthdoc and Lilnewbie's banter while they were playing on a lava map. Scatter, whether they are rats or not!
DrLivingston completely wiping the floor with my army using that accursed Braxas! (DrLivingston won the sportmanship award and rightfully so. I enjoyed our game even though I lost. Hopefully we'll have a rematch).
Velenne's face when I got my revenge on Braxas later in the day by rolling a 20 with Deadeye!
The oohs and aahs when Markwars' awesome poster sized Map of Valhalla was unfurled at the prize table.
D-Dyzzle's infuriating Marro warriors cloning atop a castle wall. I must have killed like 9 of those guys!
Checking out all of the great customs JustJohn brought with him.
Here is one he made for me, which was way cool:
http://www.heroscapers.com/oldgallery/albums/userpics/10013/JustJohns_Lobo_Del_Toro.jpg
A Darklord you can use and actually draft Khosumet with.
http://www.heroscapers.com/oldgallery/albums/userpics/10013/JustJohns_Lobo_Del_Toro_%281%29.JPG
Here he is leading the charge with a pack of wolves!
Getting an InfinityMax Dice tower from the prize table. Out of the great stuff on the prize table I wanted one of those and I just made it high enough in the rankings to snag it.
The intense first round game I played against G-bob. Talk about down to the wire. Great game.
Thanks to everyone involved in putting this together. It was a lot of fun.

I had a great time - big thanks to Wisinger, GB, and the DFW crew for putting on such a fabulous shindig!
I played: Braxas
Blastatrons
Gladiatrons
Marro Warriors
And went 3-2, losing to Rhino's Nilfheim-4th Mass combo and Aahzmandius' frenzying Archers.
Highlights included watching my wife Heather play Rychean's entire family, and the fact that my brother Nick who had only played 4 HS games before the tourney placing ahead of me. I did pick his army, so maybe I can take a little bit of the credit :D
It was so great that everyone I met is just as excellent in person as they are online (if not more so), and I can't wait until the next time. Hopefully, Justjohn had a blast as well and will come back to show off more customs!

Made it back safely back home. I really had a great time and wish we could have had several more days of gaming but the tourney was a blast and well worth the trip out there.
First, some well deserved thank yous:
1. To Wisinger and LilWis for finding the meeting place and fronting the money for the deposit. Excellent choice for a location and the place was almost full.
2. DMG for running the event and making it a smooth process.
3. GB for securing some of the cool prizes from HMG and Hasbro.
4. RevDyer for the great books and the cool trays.
5. Markwars for the HS portfolio. Excellent work.
6. JJ for the awesome custom. That was a total surprise and excellent job on all of them.

7. For the rest of the people attending. It was a great time and so cool to see such enthusiasm for this game and the great sporstpersonlike attitudes everyone had.
Highlights included....heck, the whole day was a highlight (and I'll probably add to this as I remember more about the day...). Great to finally meet the rest of the DFW crew (Annerios, UPC, Markwars, Ahz) that did not get to attend GenCon. Great to meet RevDyer and JJ. Finally got to play Ry, Markwars and Ahz in the Tourney. The after tourney game with Ninth was hilarious...we were trying to apply new rules to our pieces (just for fun) like his whole army could scatter or my whole army could Maul. Of course, 'trying' is the operative word there...it never flew since the other person would just shake their head and laugh...dang rules! :D His roborats finally won but it was tough to tell who was going to win until the final round. I even tried the "what's the use" ploy but it didn't work. ;) The dinner after the tourney was nice. I enjoyed just sitting back and chatting about everything (oh, and listening to Karoke singers too.)
My Tourney Army consisted of the following:
Deathreavers
Marro Warriors
Deathstalkers (x2)
Minions of Utgar
Final standing was 3-2 in the tourney and 0-1 vs. Ninth (Next time, I'll get you and your roborats too!) :)
The prize table was awesome and everyone had a chance to pick something. My choice was one of IMax's new Travel Dice Towers. Here is the one I picked (the redwood look was very appealing):

Thanks again everyone for making an out-of-towner feel right at home.

Just want to thank everyone who came out, especailly the long hauls. I hope that everyone felt welcome, and were able to enjoy the games. I know lilwis and myself did.
Also thank you to Ninth, GB, Ry, UPC, and Jonathon for bringing terrain to build out the maps,
Thank you everyone for helping with the set up as well, it was quite the undertaking to get 20 maps set up in a bit under an hour.
Congrats to all of the Tourney winners.
I am looking forward to the next DFW/SouthWest show down.

I had a fun time with this army. I went 2-2 and most of the games came down to just one roll to determine who won as the point values were very close. One thing I noticed is that when your games run 45 minutes and victory is determined by point totals at the end, you really don't want to pick the same kind of army as you would for a fight to the finish. You can really be losing the game and still pull off a victory with a single severely wounded large point hero, for example.
Oh and bigs thanks to Sanrda@housemouse and the fine folks at Hasbro for donating prizes. That was really a very nice thing to do. The folks at Hasbro might be happy to hear that since we were behind a big glass wall at a very busy bookstore there were lots of passersby coming in to check out what was going on. ;)

Oh yes, there were a lot of people who stopped to watch what was going on, and a few came in to ask what we were up to.
I passed along the information about the official site, the fansite, and the housemouse site to some of them. And at future events, we'll probably have new people. I'm pretty sure that one of them signed up when they got home from talking to us since their location matches who I was talking to. Sweet!

In Canton, we went with the oddball 425 pt. army,
I fielded
Q-9
Krav
raelin
Shottgun Johnny,
I had A Bi the first game, lost the 2nd game - only to find out I let Q-9 die to Braxas special attack which doesn't work against large guys, so we replayed it and I won, then I won the 3rd game.
But I lost Q-9 to DED in the 3rd game and still won, I thought for sure that was it for me, but he Krav came through.
I did great the 1st game game of the finals, then in the final match I picked up the curse and lost a Krav and my Q-9 before the fighting even started, so I got 2nd.
I got to play the champ a 2nd time and won, I got eh curse again but didn't roll any 1's that time, so that was great.
I got in a game before the tourney, and 2 after, so I had an amazing day, was just to much fun.
I picked a caslte for a prize and then gave it to someone who didn't have one, so that was nice, thanks to Hasbro - yea.
But it was an amazing day, had way to much fun, can't wait for another tourney.

This is our recap from the NC SHASS tourney.
NC SHASS RECAP
First of all I have to give a HUGE thank you to Hasbro and House Mouse Games. House Mouse provided us a $50 gift certificate to give to the winner and Hasbro provided us 3 castle sets to provide to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Primal was providing a custom dice tower to 5th place but he ended up in 5th so he can make himself a tower if he likes. I also have to give a huge thanks to Funrun for driving all the way from Ohio to play in our NC tournament. She's a savy player.
Here were the 1st round highlights:
* Funrun taking down the defending champion in the first round.
* Noodles taking out Blackrayne (the 2nd place finisher) and only losing 1 piece.
* Team Spangler's Jeff and Angela facing off against each other with Angela killing Jeff's Q9 in the final roll of the match to win by points.
2nd round highlights:
* Primal and Dennis' match that went down to the last wound on their last figures. Initiative determined the winner in the next round.
3rd round highlights:
* Mo's absolute annihilation of Funrun's army with Braxus.
* Primal's amazing come from behind win against Noodles (I like to think of this as the great collapse). I had 3 Nakita Agents, 8 Warriors of Ashra, 2 Krav Magna Agents and Raelin and Primal had 3 Roman Legionnaires and 2 Roman Archers and somehow won the game. .... Absolutely painful loss.
* 10 year old Stephen Spangler getting a huge win over Dennis!
* J.T. - The Defending Champion - taking his 2nd loss and getting eliminated by Troy.
* AmishBurrito's early exit courtesy of newcomer Blackrayne1.
4th round highlights:
*Funrun's incredible comeback against Noodles. 1 round of lots of skulls and lots of blanks turned a sure victory for Noodles into an amazing come from behind win for Funrun. Consequently, this match's winner moved into the prize rounds.
* Mo destroying Primal and obtaining the bye to the finals.
* Blackrayne getting a huge win and eliminating Troy.
* Xraine's big win against little Stephen to get into the prize round.
5th round highlights:
* Funrun's huge victory over Primal. The 4th Mass just continued to wreak havok.
* Blackrayne1's big win over Xraine
6th round highlights:
Funrun is pushed to the limits but takes control of the game and defeats Blackrayne to go to the finals. Funrun's army was 4x4th Mass and Marcus. Blackraynes army was the Marro Dragon, 2xMarden Hounds, Marro Warriors. It was a great match that was a lot closer than it looked.
Consequently, Primal and Xraine decide to play eachother for the final castle set and Xraine got a great victory over Primal.
Finals
Mo using Braxus, Raelin, and Brunak went up against Funrun looking to give her her 2nd loss to his army. He looked like he was going to do it at first. Braxus was taking out 4th Mass on ever turn but Funrun scored some big rolls near the end and was able to kill Braxus. Brunak moved in and got blood hungry on a few more 4th Mass and then Raelin was killed. Next turn Brunak blanked on a great roll by Funrun and it was over.
Final Results
1st place - Funrun
2nd place - Mo
3rd place - Blackrayne1
4th place - Xraine
5th place - Primal
Pictures were taken by myself and Funrun and will be uploaded hopefully tomorrow....and no you will not see Funrun's face.

The Tree Town Open From the Mouth of Jormi
Well my Tree Town open adventure started at about 10 PM on Friday night when Charlie “Slade” came down from the cities to play a few games and crash at my house. The first game we played was my Glad/Blast army vs. his Blade Grut army.
Friday Night Practice Game 1
My Glad Blast army consisted of:
3x Blastatrons
2x Gladiatrons
1x Guilty McCreech
1x Airborne Elite
His Grut army consisted of (I think this is correct):
1x Grimnak
1x Tornak
1x Nerak
3x Blade Gruts
1x Minions
We fought it out on Forsaken Waters and my Gladie/Blasties cleaned house despite my AE taking forever to drop. I was able to find and hold a Glyph of Astrid, and that really helped my Blasties out. There isn’t much else to say about this match. It game me a lot of confidence in taking them to the TTO the next day, but I was still a little unsure if they were what I really wanted to take. There were three negatives to this army that I could see. It was only 480 points, instead of 490. It would have to sack one guy on some Meat Grinder and Forsaken Waters. The AE are unreliable; I had just lost a match the other day with them because they never dropped. I decided I should try the other army that I was thinking about using.
Friday Night Practice Game 2
My army was:
3x Romans
1x Marcus
1x Me Burq Sa
1x Ne Gok Sa
1x Krav Maga
Slade played:
1x Guilty
1x Jotun
1x Major Q9
3x Marro Drones
This game went horribly for me, but I almost pulled it out anyway. It came down to Guilty McCreech and a Roman, but Guilty McCreech was able to get height and became too much for my remaining Roman to take down. My main problem in this game was that my guys were not defending themselves at all, and his guys had impenetrable armor My Krav Maga agents were picked off my Q9 in no time at all. I also, had never seen Jotun do this well ever. I think he actually may have taken out close to equal his points with his crazy throwing and swinging with reckless abandon. After losing this game, I started wondering if I did still want to play these guys the next day. Upon close analysis of the game, I realized that it was really a game where the luck was on his side of the table, and I still came out close, so I would keep them in the running for the tourney.
Friday Night Practice Game 3
It was a bit after 1AM now, but Slade had one more army he wanted to try, so we hit Forsaken waters once again. I decided to try something new with this last match.
I played:
2x Blade Gruts
1x Tornak
1x Grimnak
1x Krav Maga
1x Crixus
Slade played the nasty Glad/Blast combo; his contained:
2x Gladiatrons
2x Blastatrons
1x Guilty McCreech
1x Major Q9
I got crushed in this match. The Glad/Blast combo is pretty tough, and my poor Krav got shot up again. I hate when I get that blank on my three dice Anyway, the robots pretty much rushed all my menacing targets and removed them. I did get a little screwed by the glyphs on this map too. They were both mass curse, and I lost 2 Gruts and Tornak to them.
After this game we decided we better hit the sack so that we could get up and go in the morning. Visions of plastic mayhem filled my dreams and I awoke a bit before 7 to get in the shower, and still have enough time for Slade to get his shower too. We hit up the Hardees for breakfast, and then went back to my house where Tristan was waiting, as he was going to ride with me to the TTO. Slade followed me in his own car, because he had to get back on the road towards the cities right away after the tourney.
We all got there a little bit before nine and started unloading the maps and setting up the few that still needed built. The time from when we got there until the start of the tournament flew by. Soon it was time for the battles to commence and the little warriors to claim their honor, or dishonor as the case would be for some.
We semi-randomly paired the first round. Everyone from the same area/playing group was on a different color card, so we could make sure at least for the first round that nobody drove a few hundred miles to play the person they spent the last months play-testing with. So I shuffled them all up and made sure that all the pairs were different colored, and then we got the first round underway.
Tree Town Open 1st Match
My first match was against Nathan from the Cities on Meatgrinder.
I had decided to go with my Roman Army; here it is to refresh your memory:
3x Romans
1x Marcus
1x Me Burq Sa
1x Ne Gok Sa
1x Krav Maga
Nathan’s army was:
1x Morsbane
1x Minions
1x EOV
1x Sir Hawthorne
1x Ne-Gok-Sa
My army was built to function pretty well on all of the maps, but I sometimes worry about Meat Grinder for this army. The Tree Town Open’s modified maps with the Tree Town Open tree rule really helped give the melee dedicated armies a fighting chance on it though. Luckily agains Nathan’s army we were both decidedly melee with his army completely melee (barring Morsbane’s special ability). This match went pretty quick as I advanced my Romans with Me Burq Sa and my Krav to start taking out the opposition. I don’t remember too much else about this one, because it went fast. I know he used his EOV effectively to grab the glyphs and harass my range, but in the end I came out on top with a few wounds on my heroes and a couple Romans slaughtered. Nathan went on to finish 27 out of the 38 we had playing.
Tree Town Open 2nd Match
My second game was vs. Scott who came all the way from Topeka, Kansas to play in the TTO. This was a very fun match that was played on Wolf Swamp Road.
His army was:
3x Rats
1x Major Q-9
1x Raelin
1x Airborne
I thought this would be a pretty interesting match, as he had the Major Q9/Raelin action going on, and that can be a rough time chipping away at him. He was also playing the rats, so I knew I would be in for some annoying tactics, but since their neutering, I have little to no fear of them. Scott was a very good player that didn’t make mistakes, so the match was pretty close. Luckily for me the Airborne did what they were good at and stayed in their barracks playing cards for most of the battle (that is why I can never take them to a tourney). I was able to remove Raelin from the game and then Q9. Then I was able to focus on the rats until the AE dropped, at which point I diverted my attention to them. Me Burq Sa got a good number of paralyzing stares in this game, which was nice against the rats (no scatter for you) and Raelin. I really took a lot of pleasure in stomping on those little rats. I had the sound effects from Weird Al’s “Weasel Stomping Day” going through my head while I stomped on the rats. I think I lost Me Burq Sa, a couple of squads of Romans and 2 of my Krav in this match. Scott’s long drive ended up working out all right for him though I think, as he finished sixth overall.
Tree Town Open 3rd Match
The third battle of the day for me was against Marc from Cottage Grove. He was probably the most fun to play because of the exciting fun things that happened during our game, and the way he handled them and directed his army.
Marc’s army was:
2x Minions
1x Raelin
1x Krav Maga
1x Theracus
1x Marro Warriors
This match was decided on the Meat Grinder, and with his army having more range than mine, I knew it would be an uphill battle. The fight started with him moving his Krav and Marros up to the edges of the grinder, as I advanced my Romans and MBS as well as my Krav. Some shooting occurred back and forth at the beginning of the game with some casualties on each side. I shot down two Marros, so the other two ran to the water to clone, but both failed. This was very bad for Marc, as I was able to clean them up on the next turn. If he would have cloned at least one, they would have had a fighting chance. He then started sneaking one of his Kravs to my flank position and engaged my Krav which happened to be the clone of his. He was able to take out that Krav, but I ran Ne Gok Sa around the other side and ended up mind shackling him. It was his last Krav, so it wasn’t worth putting turn marker on him. The thing that made it pretty nice though was the fun factor and the extra 100 points it put on my side. I then advanced NGS with my Romans back into his starting area and with the threat of me shackling Raelin or Theracus, he sent his minions to stop me. Eventually NGS and the Romans that went on the mission behind enemy lines with him were vanquished, but not before doing some damage to the army that was sitting back there. At this point I was up on points, so I positioned my guys on the hill and waited for the minions and Raelin and Theracus to join me. I took some shots at them on their way in, but nothing worth noting. There was a massive battle on my hill though with many Romans falling to minions and Marcus being grievously wounded, but eventually the last of the minions, Raelin and Theracus fell to the mighty Roman horde. This was a very enjoyable match, and Marc went on to finish 13th overall.
Tree Town Open 4th Match
My fourth skirmish was vs. Ben from New Ulm on Wolf Swamp Road.
His army was:
1x Krav Maga
2x Rats
1x Raelin
1x Brunak
1x Theracus
1x Finn
I found this game to be another close one. I liked his idea of using Brunak to carry Raelin around and pound on people with his 9 defense and blood hungry special attack. At the same time he used Theracus to carry Finn and then attack with what was usually a 5 attack with a Finn and Height bonus. The worst part about it is that I didn’t want to kill Finn, because I knew his spirit would find its way to the Krav Maga, which it eventually did after my Romans and Krav Maga shot him up along with Raelin, Brunak and Theracus. I had lost MBS and several Romans by this point, so it came down to Romans, Ne Gok Sa and Marcus vs. a mess of rats and the Krav. The end was a real blood fest, and I was getting worried but then Ben told me something interesting after I said I am going to kill your rat and rolled a death shot. He said that every time I said that I would attack it, I would defend, but every time I claimed I would kill it, I would. So, I made sure that I kept saying kill every time and it worked. Thanks Ben! This fine opponent went on to take 7th place.
Tree Town Open 5th and Final Match
My final battle was vs. Joe “Spider_Poison” on Forsaken Waters. I really dreaded this match up for a multitude of reasons. First of it is Joe. I think I have more wins on him in casual play than he has on me, but when it comes to a tourney, he always wins. At Gen Con he was the only person that beat me in the championships ( I had to play him twice). Another reason I was really dreading it was that both the times he beat me at Gen Con we were on Forsaken Waters, which just happened to be the map I put us on. Besides those reasons, his army was scary!
Here is that scary army:
4x 4th Mass
1x Charos
Yeah, I know it is a monkey army. Anyway, the beginning of the game was great. I think I had at least one full squad of Minute Men killed before taking any casualties on my side. This also kind of reminded me of our second time playing in the Gen Con Championships where I was walloping on his Orcs for the beginning of the game, but then the tide turned, and just like then it happened again. Suddenly my imbenetrable shield wall fell into rubble and my dodging agents froze and blanked twice in a row. It came down to one set of Minute Men and Charos against Ne Gok Sa and Marcus. I figured my best chance was to try and mind shackle Charos. I got Ne Gok Sa across the board, but took many wounds from Minute Men that were waiting and firing upon him, but he made it to Charos grievously wounded and had a couple shots at the shackle. Then Charos met Marcus head on and they exchanged blows until Marcus was finally gunned down by the militia.
Tree Town Open Closing Thoughts
Once again I failed to take out Joe in a tourney, but I had a lot of fun playing, and I know he was really sweating on those mind shackle roles at the end. I had very good and fun opponents all day. It turned out that all but one of my opponents was in the top half and all but two were in the top 7 with my only loss being to the champion. My place ended up being third, and I chose to just take a squad of Archer Gruts from the lower tier table and leave all those beautiful prizes for the people who drove many mile to do battle in Forest City, Iowa (plus I don’t want the rep of a sandbagger:P).
I was a bit worried about playing in the tourney as well as running it with this many people. When it started out as basically a group of 8 friends that already knew each other it was a no brainer, but with each tourney getting bigger part of me starts to wonder if I can run the tourney smoothly and play in it as well. Luckily I had a lot of help from Codeman, Joe “Spider_Poision”, Tristan “The_View” and Scott “SuperGeek”
It was great having so many Scape lovers in one place battling it out all day. I think everyone had fun and left with more than their 5 dollars worth of schwag. I saw no angry words (well except for those Iowans and Nebraskans, but you know how that is:P) or bad sportsmanship. Everyone was playing as stand up gentlemen; well, besides the fact they were trying to crush the skulls of their opponent’s figures. Anyway, I can’t wait to do it again in Austin sometime in February or March. If anyone wants to play some games in Austin before then let me know. I always have some maps up.
The Tree Town Party After Gaming
The end of the TTO wasn’t the end of my gaming that night though. After all the clean up that Tristan helped with, I took him through Forest City so that we could get some grub at the Hardees. I pointed out some of the infamous Forest City landmarks on the way that I am sure he was very interested in:P We then filled up with gas at Goldy’s as there was some free pop coupons in our TTO goodie bags that we could redeem there. We then got back on the road to Austin and Tristan decided to hang around for a little while longer to play some more games. After my puppy stopped freaking out from being so excited that I was finally home, we broke out Blue Moon. I taught Tristan how to play and he took the Vulca first and beat my by one dragon I believe. We then switched decks and I beat him by three dragons. Next I showed him Travel Blokus and he beat me pretty bad the first game (10 squares I believe). Then I beat him by quite a few. I don’t think he even bothered to count it up One might think that we would be sick of Heroscape, but Tristan had a brand new beautiful dice tower to roll in, and he wanted to try it out, so we played a 300 point game on Meatgrinder.
He chose:
3x Romans
1x Me Burq Sa
1x Marcus
I chose:
1x Valguard
1x Tarn Vikings
1x Theracus
1x Krav Maga
My Tarns died quicker than I thought they should. My idea was to utilize Theracus to take Valguard out of battle, so that he could charge repeatedly. It didn’t work out real well for me, but it was fun to try anyway. I do believe my Krav did a good job of shooting up his Roman horde though, but eventually they overcame my hill position and took out my last units. During the game we kept commenting on how nice the dice sounded coming down the completely felt lined insides of the dice tower. We joked about how we should record it and put it on a CD so that we could listen to it anytime we wanted to. Needless to say I am really jealous of the dice tower, and I can’t believe it didn’t go first, although it would be hard to pass up the 50 dollars to House Mouse Games.
After that final game Tristan took off for Grand Meadow and I went up to check the message boards, after a long fulfilling day of Scape.

DANG that sounds familiar!! I had the same army as Mo and this happened to me in nearly all my losses. I started out very strong, but once Braxas was out, I'd start cleaning up with Brunak and one #*&^ unlucky roll would take him out too.

 HAPPY POST-NATIONAL-HEROSCAPE-DAY-RECAP-THREAD  Thanx to everyone who came out to both me and Sexymama's 1st Tourney/Gameday event. Everything panned out well. :D I've got lot's to post with not enough time to post them,...
I do however have a tale of a Brunak who was Mindshackled by MBS after a massive rampage, . . .
That was a fun time! Big thanks to Dnutt and Sexymama for hosting today's event. I had an absolute blast and met three new 'Scapers and a noob in the making (the man with the two names ).
Btw, I'll post one photo tonight. This is a shot of the last turn of the second Malechi/H_E_H throwdown. Mind you, I had Brunak with 2 wounds and Malechi had N-G-S with 3 wounds. Then on Mal's next activation:

I'll get you next time, Mal!
. . . ,Who was later to be drafted by Dnutt99 and shot down with a magnificent shot of Heretic's DED's SHARPSHOOTER!
At that point Brunak had been the backbone of the rest of my squad!
We'll gt 'em Nextime HEH,... :drunk:

Lots to say.....
First of all sorry I didn't post here sooner, but after abandoning my family all day Saturday I lavished them with attention on Sunday.
To address this thread's question of what did I play and how did it do...
My army was:
Krug - 120
Arrow Gruts x 2 - 80
Swog Rider x2 - 50
Me Burq Sa - 50
Krav Maga Agents - 100

My record was 5-2 on the day. I lost once in the fourth round to wisinger and then again to him in the Championship. It was easily the best day (in terms of results) that I've had playing the awesome talents of the DFW crew. Hats off to wisinger for handling me both times with lots and lots and lots of rats. I made it semi-close both times, but I was never really in control of either match that I played him.
Next I want to get to all of my larger over-arcing thank yous....
1st a huge thank you to lilwis and wisinger for giving the event a place to be. And what a nice facility it was. To top it off everyone had an enormous amount of pizza to feast on during games. I know that you two did a lot of leg work and behind the scenes stuff to make this happen I and really really appreciated it. ;)
2nd a huge thank you to DrinkMoreGuinness for running the tourney. For those of you that haven't had the pleasure to play in a game day run by DMG I say trust me, the man is a master. Everything went so smoothly and all issues were handled expertly and expeditiously. Thank you sir. :D
3rd a huge thank you to Grungebob, Hasbro, and Housemouse Games. Having those prizes on the tables was a real thrill. Thanks so much for making that happen. It was awesome to have a semi-official feel to things and that wouldn't have happened without GB. It was also nice to see just how committed Sandra is to the hobby, and this community specifically. Thanks! :)
4th a huge thank you to all of the folks that designed the maps we played on. I really enjoyed the selections and they were all tournament worthy to be sure. Very good job to everyone. A special thanks to my local pals Rychean and UPC - they both did a ton of work on this.
Now I want to give individual shout-outs to the folks that I played matches with....
IMax thanks for the awesome game you gave me in the first round. It certainly ended on an odd note, but it's always fun to play you. I can't believe I finally won. Q9 still makes me nervous, and probably always will.
The Krunkster was my second round opponent and a real pleasure to play. I'm so glad you joined us again. I was afraid of your army when I saw Charos, too bad your dice just didn't want to cooperate with you. ;)
The Krunkster's Brother was my third round opponent and he was also a super nice guy that was a lot of fun to play. His Charos, Mimring, Arrow Gruts army on the Into the Breach Map proved itself as a worthy opponent. He gave me fits logistically and the match was really pretty close.
wisinger was my fourth round opponent and after seeing him beat UPC I knew I was in trouble. There isn't much you can really say when your opponent wins with one rat and a Zettian Guard except, "there's obviously a lot I still have to learn about this game". wisinger is always the diplomat though and he somehow made it fun to lose. :)
Lil Newbie was my fifth round opponent and played me the most interesting match of the day. I made his Deathstalkers and Minions come to me, and it almost proved to be a fatal error. Time ran out and I won on points, but I really think that with a couple of better shield rolls by wolves he would have handed my butt to me. This guy is a heck of player, and an even nicer human being. It was a real pleasure to get to meet him and an even greater thrill to play him.
Aahz was my opponent in the Semi Finals and his unfailing ability to frenzy was just amazing. This game came down to my Krug with 7 wounds making it to the Healing Glyph. Without that happening I would have lost pretty badly. As it was I barely won with two Kravs left standing.
wisinger again in the Championship was not pleasant. The game was played on the Meat Grinder map which immediately intimidated me because I've never won a stinking match on it. :P My opponent clearly learned more about me than I did him because this match wasn't as close as the previous one. It was a lot of fun to hear the cheers go up when my last Krav fell, and I was frankly humbled that I came in second place. wisinger went 7-0 and was truly the class of the tourney. If it was Karma that won it for him it was paying him back for all of his hard work in making the tourney so great. Cheers to the champ! :D
And now some random thank yous and shout outs ...
Thanks to everyone for making the prize table so awesome! :D
Thanks to everyone that stuck around to the bitter end.
Thanks to JustJohn for the super freaking awesome Sacred Granite Guard unit that I chose as the Second Place Prize. My son and I both LOVE them. ;)
Thanks to ninthdoc and IMax for making sure I got home after I found out my battery was dead. :P
Thanks to lilwis for not beating me at this event - only because I didn't play her.
Thanks to Finrod for coming. I was really looking forward to meeting you. Too bad we didn't get to play.
Thanks to everyone that liked my prize table contributions. ;)
Thanks to RevDyer for coming out and bringing your unique brand of Arkansas humor. ;)
Thanks to DflynSqrl for the laughs. I really needed them more than you'll ever know. :)
And I'm sure I'm forgetting a few right now, but I'll continue to add thank you's as I remember them.

The NC tourney was a whirlwind weekend for me! I wasn't even thinking about going to any HS tourney till Wednesday. On Thursday night I decided that even though the NC tourney's 16 seats were full and I wouldn't get to play, that I would still enjoy the trip from Ohio, so I committed to an alternative seat. Then on Friday, 2 people decided they couldn't come and I got a seat to play. I can't believe I ended up winning when I almost didn't go and almost didn't get to play!
Needless to say I hadn't thought more than 10 minutes about what army I might like to play until 11:30PM the night before the tourney! I went to bed with a vague of idea of using the Nakita Agents and Braxas with something else, but less than 15 minutes before the official tourney start time I saw 4th Mass and Marcus and completely changed my mind to use 4x 4th Mass + Marcus as my entire army. I had no idea what this army was capable of since I had never even played with 4th Mass or Marcus before, it just looked good on paper.
Let me pause and sum my situation up for everyone: last minute decision to drive 7 hours from Ohio to NC + last minute army selection + figs I've never played with before + maps I've never played on before + opponents I have never met before = complete unpreparedness.
My random partner for the first game ended up not showing and the same happened to the NC reigning champ; therefore, I had to play the reigning champ first! I'm thinking "Great! I'm gonna lose my first game." But by the second or third round with JT's figures dropping like the plague, I was realizing what great potential there was in this army (see my army evaluation in 400 pt army thread.) I was starting to like my chances of making it past the second round, so I stayed fairly focused throughout. It was definitely a highlight to have to play noodles for the chance to make it to the prize winning round. I played more tourney games than anyone (7 total) because the other finalist beat me in the third round then got a 2 round bye. All in all this means Mo and I were the only ones who lost 1 game, which was to each other, so the final game was essentially a rematch.

I'd like to start by saying I've been to a lot of game tournaments and for a second time effort it was fantastic. Co-ordination, prize support, swag, set-up, it all came together very well. I've been to full game cons that were far less put together. Many thanks to Codeman, Jormi and the rest. Well done.
Now if only my showing had been 1/4 as good I'd be less mortified. I have to say in my defense I had no time to playtest with moving to DM and work (and the lack of HS players in the area). But enough whining right now, I'll save some for later in my post.
My army was:
Sentinels x3
Concan
Raelin
Total: 490
I was hoping the high defense could get me into the action with few casualties. It worked for the most part. The Shields of Jandar saved my butt and frustrated my opponents many times over. The problem was that even with Concan their attack wasn't great, and that came back to haunt me. I still think this was a good force, I just played dumb in some cases.
Game 1: I fought on FW first. My opponent had DW8K, Me-Burq-Sa, Kozuki & Izumi Samurai, and Raelin. Tough line-up. The hits weren't bad, but the Counterstrike bothered me. Luckily I was able to reap the samurai down to one with few losses. I even took out MBS, who failed to paralyze Concan. DW was my bane. I couldn't hurt him, and he couldn't hurt me. It was a total standoff. He only killed one of my Sentinels because I broke him off to go for Raelin. Time was called and he had 1 Kozuki, DW, and Raelin. I had 3 Sentinels and Raelin, and I lost. I was playing that each unit of Sentinels was a separate entity, and thought I could only move figures from that card, and marked them as such. Curse Warhammer 40K for that flub. If I had known I could move any three Sentinels it might have been different.
Game 2: I fought Codeman's wife (Rhonda?) who had a ranged army. She played well and I didn't do much to her. One of her Gorillinators landed on the Curse and killed Raelin. That was a downer. One thing I found out later was that she was rolling for her Nakita's smoke powder against my melee attacks, and that power only works against ranged. My bad for not catching it, and she was new and didn't realize it. We've all been there. That could have allowed several hits to have made a difference. I lost that one too.
Game 3: Wow, this game sucked. Braxas, burn in hell.
Game 4: In this game I fought against Q9, Kravs and Charos. Charos moved up quickly and based several of my Sentinels, who were backed up by Raelin. I made a fool's mistake by attacking him and lost several figs. But three tied him up for the rest of the game. I just didn't attack and he bounced off my shields. Concan and a Sentinel killed the Krav and attempted to kill Q9 but no luck. Bad rolls on my part led to losing Concan and the Sentinel. Should have sent the others to attack Q9 instead of mixing it with Charos. Oh well, lost that one too.
Game 5: This game was way different. I fought a Marro army with some Ankle-biters. This game just went right. I got high ground, moved well, hit and defended well. Took out Su-Bak-Na, Concan survived three Mind-Shackles from you-know-who, and I only lost one Sentinel while wiping out my opponent's army. At least I finished with some @$$ left.
All my opponents were great, had a lot of fun meeting people, got one of the coolest tourney shirts I've seen, and even though I got buggy-whipped I got a prize too. Above all I enjoyed one of my favorite games with good people. Thanks to all and I hope to play HS with you again.

My Turn
Now I knew I should have done this the day after, if too many days pass I start to forget things :frustrated:
My first game of the event was a 4 player FFA
I went with:
Syvarris
Krav Maga
Crixus
Saylind
It came down to me and Heretic. I had crixus and he had Syvaris each with wounds. It came down to that Darn 20sd. :fencing:
My first game was great!
Board was Fertile grounds
Player Heretic
I played with:
Vernoc Warlord
Armoc Vipers x 2
Krav Maga
Me-burq-Sa
Heretic had:
Braxas
Monks
Warriors of Ashra
Maybe someone else
I thought off bat after Braxas used use acid breath and took out my krav magna and a whole team of Armoc Vipers I was sure to lose. But with the few wounds Me-burq-sa had on Braxas and the few kills he managed. The Armoc Vipers and Warlord came in and stole the win!! Whoa Hoo
Next on was me and HEH on the Arctic Circle:
He kicked my butt!! way to go HeH :headbang:
uh oh, I don't remember who I had: It was some where on the lines of some Dzu teh and..... thats all I remeber, You know, people tend to block out tragic events
Then me and HeH had a casual and I returned the favor. :boxing:
Next was Me and Mal, While he was already 3-0, I was ready to kick some butt with his trash talking.
He had:
monks
sylvarris
Nakitas
and some one eles
I Had:
orcs
Chomp
Krav Magna
Theracus (who never moved)
Johnny (who never Moved)
Crixus (who never moved)
Well Mal, at least the monks were able to jump into the line of site of my Krav at least once, oh they did kill two on my magna I must give them some credit.
The orcs and Chomp did the rest. Who Hoo!!
Then was the Castle Siege,
There is no way I will remember who I had, because it was alot,
I belive I had:
sacrad band x2
thereacus
Minions
tarn vikings
and others
This game also game down to me and Heretic, Next time I will keep my mouth shut so my opponents will not change what they planned to do so I can win!! :brickwall:
and here are the players, I must keep our identities secret though, for what reasons.......well....I haven't thought that up yet!
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/marylee81/GAMEDAY_10_21_2006/GROUP.jpg

I had a great time on the 21st. 6 straight hours of HS! I demoed the game to a large group of people at the Hero Connection Comic Shop. I got enough people interested that the shop will now start to stock some HS goodness! Once things get settled, I'm planning to host weekly tourneys.
I also got in a quick 200 point game with my brother, sister, and dad.

Maybe it's something about West Coast women, but NorCal has regularly had multiple females at every game day, and even the first tournament at Kublacon! ;)
This next gameday (IV), we may have an all-female free-for-all game (the first of it's kind @ a gameday :?: )
Might be 4 out of about 20, also.
Way ta go, West Coasters!

Good idea on the prizes, TTO!
I think in general people go home pretty happy with our prizes. At the TTO starting with 1st place, they got to take a pick of one of the top table items, and one of the bottome table items. Also everyone got a t-shirt and a goodie bag. The 3 top furthest drivers also got gas cards. It was really quite the value for the 5 dollar entry. Codeman did a really good job wrangling prizes.

The Sir Hawthorne was one we picked up at Gen Con.
The Nerak was donated by a member of this site. I may be messing up his screen name, but it is someting like Cave2.

Heretic vs. Malechi on HEH's Snow Board.
Looks like Heretic chose Minions x2, and TAELORD!
Mal looks to be playing with Omnicrons, Dzu-Teh x2, and Theracus,...(that's all I can see!)
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt009.jpg
Looks like Malechi also had Raelin and Guilty on his forces.

Heretic and Malechi,... looks like Mal is giving him the business! I don't know who won this one, but from the overall days stats, I would assume Mal!

Malechi vs. Dnutt99 on Arctic Ring.
I rolled with EOV, Dzu-Teh x2, Guilty McGreech, and the AE.
Malechi busted out with the Orc horde accompanied by 2 swog riders, Nerak, and Krug,...
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt017.jpg
Malechi taking advantage of the terrain with Nerak. The silly monkies hung out next to glaciers all game, the EOV weren't significant enough for me to remember ANYTHING that they did, Guilty did move at least once, and that last AE would probably have run out of ammo before depleting the rest of Malechi's forces.
:hungry: Ate me up,... :puke: and spit me out!

Sexymama vs. HEH on Arctic Ring.
It's hard to make out, but I know Sexymama chose some Armocs, some Dzu-Teh, and I think Johnny Shotgun,... HEH looks to have picked Nilheim, and a slew of Dzu-Teh.

I can't comment on this game. I have NO CLUE how things panned out in the beginning, middle, or end,... I think HEH won this one,...this time.

Sexymama vs. HEH part II on Snow Board.
I think Sexymama chose Dzu-Teh x2, Nakitas, and MBS for this matchup. HEH rolled with the Marrden Hounds x2, Major Q-9, and some Vernocs.
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt016.jpg
HEH's forces look on as Sexymama deploys the Dzu-Teh. Pick a glacier,... any glacier.

Sexymama said that the Marrden Hounds proved to kill off a lot of her forces, but in the end Major Q-9 was shot down by those Nakita chicks!
The return of Sexymama,... :boxing: Take that HEH. :D

See Sexymama's Sullivan to the left? He put the hurt on a group of figures I had bunched up. I had Johnny on pause with one of my Dzu-Teh, but Sexy brought another Dzu-Teh and destroyed mine, thus freeing up Johnny for a shotgun blast. I think I lost an Aubrien and a Dzu-Teh from that blast.
Keep the pics and recaps coming, Dnutt99! Great stuff!

The Final Post : TRIUMPH TOWER.
This was the board :!: This game would finalize the entire days events and top us off at 12 complete hours of solid Scapin'. If you look at the clock you can see we got this one going at about 10:35p.m. Everyone was eager to play the last game, even Malechi who had an exhausting, almost 2 hour, drive ahead of him. You're the man Mal,...
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/marylee81/GAMEDAY_10_21_2006/GROUP_time.jpg
The game was originally set up for 4 players. But as the day rolled into the evening, which rolled into the night, on it's way to the early morning, it was obvious that not everyone would be able to play. Heretic suggested converting the starting positions to allow an additional 2 players to join in. It was a fast configuration putting land tiles all on top of water, snow, and anything else just to make it work.
THANX HERETIC,...GREAT IDEA! :D Nice nose,... it's quite,...Jandarific!

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt032.jpg
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt031.jpg
Original setup for this scenario was 4 players with 450 point armies to get as many units inside the castle, and the player with the most figs after 10 rounds would win. We quickly changed the number of rounds to 5, (which after the first round became 3 :!: ). Sexymama had some flyers and a lot of ground forces -- Heretic had a few more flyers and a few ground troops to support -- Malechi whipped out the orc horde leading with, (who else), Krug -- Dnutt99 grabbed Drones x3 and some Minions -- The Man With 2 Names pulled Gladiatrons, Blastatrons, MacDirk Warriors, and a Knight, (who we later found out was supposed to be Sir Denrick,...he's still a noobie :D ) --- HEH rolled with only BRAXAS & NILFHEIM.
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/marylee81/GAMEDAY_10_21_2006/Castle_setup.jpg
I forget who went first, but I do know that HEH flew right into the castle with Nilfheim, and followed him with Braxas on the following turn. Malechi was the first to enter, (and SUCCESSFULLY), block the door with Krug.
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt038.jpg
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt035-1.jpg
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt034.jpg
On her second turn Sexymama activated the Massive Curse, (Great suggestion HEH. ) Only two figures were destroyed, but with Sexymama, Malechi, and HEH inside the walls, (and The Man With 2 Names fighting his way in), it was time for me to restrategize my move!
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt033.jpg
Braxas and Nilfheim were my biggest threat going over the top. It was apparent that I wouldn't be able to do anything at the door on my side. I think Sexymama had moved her flyers inside, and had begun to move out the ground troops.
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt036.jpg
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/marylee81/GAMEDAY_10_21_2006/Castle-2.jpg
My minions were up top with the dragons and attacked hopefully destroying one,... but they didn't. Braxas spit acid all over them and left them in a big purple puddle to be mopped up later. ALL 3 WENT DOWN WITH THE ONE ATTACK! Braxas continued to pee acid rain on the troops below who were still fighting Krug for entry. Sexymama was the next to control the door on the other side with some Sacred Banders.
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt039.jpg
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/marylee81/GAMEDAY_10_21_2006/Castle.jpg
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/marylee81/GAMEDAY_10_21_2006/Castle-5.jpg
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/marylee81/GAMEDAY_10_21_2006/Castle-3.jpg
All in all gameplay was rushed but consistent with the current scenario,... a mad dash inside! By this point Braxas and Nilheim were still inside and commanding the upper level taking out anyone in their sight quite easily! Krug was almost dead receiving fire from TMW2N Blastatrons. Sexymama had at least 2 figs up top, and 1 on the lower level. Heretic remained pretty quiet during the whole ordeal silently plotting. :stir: But it was this MEGA move that had everyine impressed,...
Malechi flew over the top, down to the first level, carrying Guilty, He closed and locked both doors and killed the Sacred Bander who had control of Sexymama's door at the time. GREAT STUFF MAL!!!
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h249/jonan_jello/Dnutt/10_22_06NatlHeroscapedayDNutt042.jpg
My son Devon snapped this one. A perfect display HS at its finest. :D
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/marylee81/GAMEDAY_10_21_2006/Castle-4.jpg
OK,... in the end,... (forgive me it was late and a while ago since this all happened!),... Sexymama managed to move a lot of Sacred Banders to the door which at this point she had gotten control of. TMW2N had his ENTIRE army OUTSIDE of the castle. Malechi having only 2 figs inside had automatically lost after his turn was over. HEH also having both dragons in play, but lacking the numbers needed to win pulled out. Dnutt99 made a last ditch effort to kill off some Sacred Banders at their door having nothing else to do. It would be HERETIC who would swoop in for the win having 3 figs inside at the end of the round vs. Sexymama's 2! That'll teach her to give away tactical info at the most crucial moment in the game,... :footinmouth:
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/marylee81/GAMEDAY_10_21_2006/Castle-1.jpg
It was a perfect end to a perfect day! Thanx everybody for coming out and throwing down. See you all on the 18th, (or hopefully sooner). Until then, I'll see you on the boards! :D

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but how on Earth did you guys get prizes from Hasbro? I'm planning on hosting another game day next month and was thinking of a tournament. As it stands right now the winner would just get bragging rights. It would be really cool to have a prize table.

Otherwise, for prizes, some great ideas have come out of all this. I wish that I had thought of splitting expansions up, that would have given a few more prizes at our game day. I'll definitely encourage this in the future. Other things that help are to have everyone participating bring something for the prize table. Then you have the 1st place person choose what they want and work your way down the line of players. Sometimes the "best" prize doesn't go to the 1st place winner because they already have it, or there is something else they consider to be better.

I didn’t even know what the “best prize” was on our prize table. Even our champion had some difficulty ( the only difficultly he had all day ). He first took the very fine handcrafted wood dice tower and had it in his hand and then set it back on to the table in favor of the $50 House Mouse Certificate. This was much to the relief of our second place finisher who knew he wanted the dice tower and latched on to that in a hurry. I wish I had kept track of the order of which prizes were taken when. I do know our 9th place finisher was excited to be able to pick up one of the castle sets Hasbro sent.
Jormi came up with the idea of dividing up the expansion into two squads and accumulating the terrain for yet another prize. We have done this at the very first tournament either of us have hosted and have done at every tourney since.
Again the thought behind it was to keep the entry fee down - $5 is approx ˝ the price of an expansion, and this of course guarantees everyone at least one prize ( get their money back ). We chose to go out and get donations for the larger prizes so there are not any cash outlay for our participatents other than there the travel expenses. I read several comments on our event thread that mentioned something to the affect … "I felt guiltily taking so much stuff home for $5".
There are multiply was to do prizes, but we are very happy with this concept, and we have been lucky having a lot of business donating some great prizes for us. It takes less time than you would think finding sponsors, and I get more sponsors that are happy to help and are glad I asked them then I get rejections…. I recommend at least trying this approach.
Good Luck
