Of course, there's really not much reason to get excited, with Hasbro's dismal track record of delivering any HS support/resources.

Hasn't the Battlefield Builder been "coming soon" for awhile now? In fact they even have given us specific months to look for the Battelfield Builder but those months have come and gone. And what about the bios for TT, RV, and Thora's? They have all said "coming soon" since even before August yet we still don't have those, now do we?
Fact of the is Hasbro is horrible at getting their site updated. Coming soon to them isn't a week or two like it is to most people. Coming soon to Hasbro can mean anywhere from a month to several months. Please Hasbro, GET YOUR SH!T TOGETHER AND PUT UP THE BIOS, BATTLEFIELD BUILDER, ETC.

I heard in a babysitting course that some kids will hold their breath in attempt to get what they want. They reccomend letting the kid do so. Kids with enough willpower will actually pass out, and then come to in a few seconds.

The Robot is most likely Vydar (either a bad mock up of a current figure or a new figure entirely) I say this due to the partially obscured insiginia looks like the claw symbol for Vydar. These cartoons and comics have led us astray before (nakitas). We've also seen other drawings of things that have yet (or ever) to be released like the marro riding the ogre thing.
maybe the 3d glasses come with th FBs (that the reason for the possible price hike). or the glasses come with the walmart exclusive featuring the mystery robot and Craig's favorite terrain.

I thought it wasn't half bad. I wouldn't mind watching a series of that. Better than the comic, at any rate. Drake actually has a likable personality and all now.
Krug's mystical no-blood 'death' makes me wonder, though, how the designers think of death working in Valhalla. Do you really get resurrected as soon as you die or what? If so, what makes the war winnable at all if you can't kill off the enemy in a permanent manner?

I can still see a win even if the characters keep coming back.
They wouldn't come back in that same spot right? So if Utgar gets rid of all the enemies quick enough then he has the upper hand when they try to come back.
If person A dies/fails then they spawn back at point (1), if they die at point (65) they can't get back to that point quick enough to help the others who are now, dying.
So then person B who won the battle at point (65) now controls point (65), if point 65 is a Wellspring then person B now controls said Wellspring and can pull more warriors to their cause.
The more summoning points controlled by person A or B, the more units they can summon.
If Person A only controls 3 summoning points at a rate of 6 new persons a day and person B controls 6 summoning points at a rate of 6 new persons a day, then after a week Person A has 126 new Persons on their team and Person B has 252 new Persons on their team and a 50% advantage over Person A.
This gives person B the advantage and will eventually merritt more wins and the control of more summoning points, :D

Meh, I like the hand-animated look, even if it's an overlay on a computer render. The modern lineup of cartoons is so *barf* with all those perfect geometric shapes...
But I still like this one--you can tell they put more effort in than some cartoon shows. And Q10 Roxxorz!

Man, I wish my Drake could take out Krug in one hit.
I prefer the older commercials to this. All this episode shows me is they still can't do crap for writing or dialogue. The VO of the characters changed (and not in an appealing way). The battle sequences worked and they have some nice innovations with Drake's grappling gun and marro weaponry but someone needs to fix the writing (and the continuity) of the "series." The best thing about this is the introduction of a possible new Hero (Q10).

I definitely think it was Drake and Raelin but I don't see the bot as Jandar, the symbol under 'Q10' look vydarish to me (though I wish it wasn't) and given what the comic portrayed (Drake working with Ullar- Syv and Vydar- Nakitas) it wouldn't surprise me if the new Soulborg was Vydar. Drakes changes could be any reason (this franchise doesn't have enough true backstory to create a consistent world yet) so I think the slight changes could be re-imaginings of Drake and his weaponry. Maybe there will be a MS 2.0 with updated rules (again) and new terrain, updated sculpts, etc.

I think it is the same Drake and his arrival is not that much different. It is just that in the first video Jandar seems more front and center at the time of his arrival. Here he is more of a mysterious and menacing figure.
There were all sorts of odd creatures and men in the ruins where Drake was summoned in the first video. Who is to say Raelin and the robot were not there?
Although both videos do not match his bio, since he was said to be badly wounded and weaponless when Jandar summoned him and Kelda had to heal him!
I get the feeling Kark is correct and they don't care much about continuity.

The best commercial I have seen in at least 10 years. I truly enjoyed it.
Some of you guys need to remember that not only is this just a 30 second or so blurb to sell product, but it had to be practically sized for download. It's not like they were setting out to make Transformers the movie or something.
Yeah, they took licenses with the characters, but all creative minded people will, especially since they did not invent the characters and are just trying to make a cool little episode. Also, they are still probably trying to get a wider base, and they have to keep reintroducing the game to new players all the time. Of course, Drake seems cooler to some kids if he has a forearm mounted launcher (more like a superhero/ninja). Just look at comics/commercials/cartoons from other toys/games and you will see that they took many of the same licenses and rarely match up.
To weigh in on the Q10 issue, he will almost certainly be Jandar's in my mind. It's what everybody wanted, isn't it?

Hex: I wondered about the grapple-arm for a second too.
I WISH they would flesh out the WWII angle a bit more in future expansions.
That would be very cool.

Seems pretty clear to me that its Drake: he has the same gear and "rescue" as in the bio. They probably just updated the grapple gun to create a more effective and streamlined tool especially since Drake was wielding his sword with both hands for a large portion of the short.
I'd guess the Soulborg belongs to Jandar. Not only was it there with Raelin and Jandar, but the movie itself seems to be limited to two of the generals: Utgar and Jandar. It would be strange to throw a random Vydar bot into the mix.
By the way anyone else think Drake's "whats going on" sounded really, really silly? Poor voice acting in that one scene. The rest of it was pretty decent though :)

I would rather have a cool looking Drake be a Con exclusive rather then an X-10. Who will movement bond with my X-17?

Very cool stuff. Yeah, out of continuity, weird drawings, but I thought they were very compelling commercials, and probably rocked the socks off of any 8-12-year-olds watching :D

Pretty cheesy. The animation was pretty bad
It's a free, web short animation, not a full length feature film like "The Incredibles" with millions of dollars backing it up. For what it is I think it's pretty damn good. Add to it the fact that they actually got it to us in a timely manner unlike with many other things on the HS site and I think Hasbro deserves some applause.
Krug's mystical no-blood 'death' makes me wonder, though, how the designers think of death working in Valhalla. Do you really get resurrected as soon as you die or what? If so, what makes the war winnable at all if you can't kill off the enemy in a permanent manner?
I'm sure his no-blood death had absolutely nothing to do with the figures not really dying, and everything to do with it being a short animated cartoon aimed at kids. Children cartoons NEVER show blood nowadays. The whole dissiparting into thin air thing is commonly seen when characters die.
As for Q-10 I would guess Vydar. Sure he was hanging out with Drake and Raelin, but so what? The Nakitas were also hanging out with Drake and Syvarris and they turned out to be Vydar. I don't see why they would have the same Q line of robots on different teams. The only way I could is if there was some sort of hitch when creating the new Q-10 unit, like he turned out good or something and rebelled against the other Q units.
Really though, all these animated shorts have been severly lacking in a strong, continuous story. Vydarr is supposed to be on Utgar's side last we heard yet his soldiers are constantly seen worknig with Jandar and Ullar. All the cartoons thus far have lacked continuity so why would this episode be any different? For what it is though, I thoguht the battles were cool and it wasn't too bad at all. Those mass Drones attacking the Snipers was great. I hope we see more episodes done in this way. And hey, who knows, maybe they will all follow a central story line? We can dream, can't we?

Good point. Flashes me back to the Teen Titans movie... there was a painter villain whose monstrous henchmen were supposed to be based on the three primary colors. Only the red one was pink, because apparently red was too blood-like to use, thus screwing up the whole theme of the monsters and depriving a 'murder' scene of significant emotional impact.
It even holds true for cartoons supposedly aimed at older audiences, like Justice League Unlimited. Disgusting, really. No wonder so many kids are flocking to anime, eh? It's the only kind of cartoon where the animators don't treat them like they're too stupid to know that people bleed red when they're hurt.
Censorship-happy people like to say that glorifying violence by showing its consequences will lead to RL copycat violence, but I'd go the opposite route. I'd think that showing violence without showing the natural consequences of it is what could lead to kids having warped views on violent behavior, if anything would. If you get slashed with a sword, you should darn well bleed.
And that is the end of my unscheduled rant for today. :D

I think Q10 might go to Jandar. I hope he does. His personality did not seem like the cold, caculating, robot that Vydar's soulborgs seem to be.

That movie made me squeel like a little girl. Very epic. Kinda looked like I was playing a video game or something. The voice acting sucked, but hey the animation was pretty good I think.

The only parts I did not like were the close ups on Drakes face. Just didn't look right. The rest was kind of cool though.

Really really bad when compared to what though? If you compare it to a Pixar movie of course it's going to look like crap. It doesn't have the same kind of budget or amount of time spent on it. A couple months tops was probably spent on the clip, not years like full length films. Considering it is just a short animated clip on a website crated to advertise the game, I think it was good. I mean it wasn't even a cartoon show after all. You have to keep this in mind.

I liked it, quite cool. I think the biggest improvement was that the action was actually "kinetic". The drones trampling the Omnicron Snipers had some real umph behind it and Drake's sword barrage had some nice weight and spin. They really looked like they were swinging to kill.
Q10 looks great. That gun is awesome looking. I hope he's a hero for the Snipers. He's actually the most similar to them, IMO, fairly white colored (compared to Raelin) with similar (if much larger) gun.
All in all it wasn't bad for an add. It got me excited and interested, which is pretty decent for 30 seconds or so. It was phenominal, and there was some really bad voice acting, but it was fun and free. Thumbs up!

Good catch on the Q10. That surely ID's the robot. I personally like CGI a lot better than traditional comics, so this one is a winner in my book. As mentioned above, I would have no problem sitting through a series.
Well done....

ps, Where can I get a copy of SI Kids?
It aslo sounded like the robot "watson" voice of that cartoon sherlock holmes in the 2100 centery. :ponder:
