over christmas i am going to host a sort of dnd game for my family and friends using some custom dragons. here is the basic idea:

"you were sent on a quest by your generals into the underdark to find the ancient dragons egg. An object with the power to turn the allegiance of dragons and grow them to amasing sizes. if utgar or valkrill takes control of this object, not even the proud Zelrig would help the allied. you must get down into the tome of the three dragon kings and get the statuette before evil captures it and escape with your lifes."

each player is gonna play a hero from my dndscape collection or one of the few i think belongs there from classic. i will be playing the dm and control the monsters.

my idea for the dungeon is for it to be somewhat like a dnd or descent dungeon where you can go different ways in the dungeon. i've finished the two first rooms and one part of the cave:

room 1
When you enter the dungeon you see a gigantic statue of a frost dragon and on the other side a squidheaded creature in cape holding a spear. it shrieks out something with a highpitch noise, making you hold your ears in horror. shortly after four goblins run out of a crack in the now living dragon statue, the adventure has begun.

Room 2
After the mindflayers heart meets your blade he curses you with more highpitch sound and dissapear leaving only the cloak and spear. as you continue through the caves and move thurther into the darkness and soon find a small pool of glowing water protected by some glowing beings resembling your knighted friends on the surface and in the far back you can see a large club moving in the hall lighted by torches.

in this room im gonna use darkness rules and let them face phantom knights, warforged soldiers and gurei oni.

room 2 epilogue
When you destroy the cyclops a bright light eminates from your staff and fly up to the ceiling lighting up the room showing off the beutiful work on the roof. it is made of a thin layer of stone allowing sight to a lakebed. you now see that the hall way is not the only way out from this room. to your right is a small cave opening with no natural light., to your right a small area of sand adorned with webs holding skeletons of dwarves, elves, and other creatures whom probably also explored the area. which way, the webcave, the grotto or the lighted hallway?

grotto 1
when following the stairway down through the grotto a strange purple light lights and flies around the room before exploding in the room showing all the drow who have been waiting for you. one of them steps forward raises his staff and strikes it to the ground shouting out to his minions in a language you dont understand, before making the floor raise to a small platform.

You can make the grotto an ice cave with a Greater Ice Elemental and a few White Wyrmlings. Perhaps if the players don't end the battle soon enough, one of the Wyrmlings grows into Nilfheim!

spider room

when you enter the stinking chamber you see a drow priestess on top of a sandpile. it shouts out to you: leave this place! you filthy monsters will fall to my babies. ARISEN!!!! directly after a gigantic burrfly comes down from the roof and giant spiders swarm out of the sandpile. itis a fyorlag nest. and who likes spiders.

the heroes will face spiders who will respawn as long as estivara is alive and sujoah will also be faced.

this room is only a fake. they have to face the spiders, figure out that estivara needs to die and when the encounter is over i will tell them there is only a small crack on the back wall and tell them they should go back. if they trie to get through the crack they will end up in the corridor.

grotto 2

after the drow had been destroyed you keep venturing through the cave. you soon hear a series of howls and throgh a hole in the roof moonlight shines down onto a huge wolfen creature and its commander, a humanoid wolf holding a khopesh. the creature howls again and a large pack of wolves pounce out from a ledge high on the wall.

this encounter is going to contain khosumet, a werewolf lord, a dumutef and a set of wolves of badru.

grotto 2 epilogue
after youve defeated the wolves you see two ways to continue. a large ornamented doorway leading to a well lighted chamber, possibly a tomb. the other way goes up a small stairway lighhted by green bioluminescent plants similar to the ones found in the ancient sanctum.

grotto 2 doorway
when you enter the tomb you are greeted by three statues looking like some winged, twolegged reptiles with large fangs. while examinig theese two paleskinned figures come out from the shadows and the what seems to be the older one speaks out to you: welcome, my husband wants you for dinner. MWhahahaha! the younger twists her swords and a ball of darkness hits the 3 statues. then the large tomb raises its lid and a wampire lord arises from within.

here the heroes are going to face cyprien, sonya and iskra esenwien. the retchets are gonna awaken after the first round. this encounter is also a fake. the heroes are gonna have to go back up the stairway.

grotto 2 stairway
when you get to the top of the stairs you see the door to the tomb. the catch? it is protected by a large axewielding cyclops.

here torin is the final guardian of the tomb.

spiderencounter: through the crack
after you go through the crack you see a large peaceful chamber containg a river and a small hill. on top of the hill stands a hobgoblin. he raises his staff and speaks in a strange clicking language. shortly thereafter four elementals are created from a large swirl from the floor.

the heroes will meet kurrok, and one of each medium elemental.

elemental room epilogue
when the sorcerers staff falls out of the hobgoblins cold dead hand you feel victory is near. you use the sorcerers staff and summon the swirl once again. when you dive in you end up on your end in front of a large door. you also end up right infront of a huge fire giant just about to smash you with his sword.

enemy: you guessed it, shurrrak

after you strike the two swords into the carved stone sockets on the floor, the door clicks and you open it up. inside you find stalagmites ornamenting a river strangely colored in some sort of yellow. you also feel the prickly smell of sulfur before you all see the final guardian of the tomb, a large fire giant wielding an even larger sword.

Enemy: shurrak.

Tomb of the three dragon kings.

when the giants sword falls to the ground the gigantic door swings open and reveals what you searched, the tomb of the three dragon kings. however the kings doesnt seem to have enjoyed their final rest that much as you see the kings standing guard, turning their heads to look at you. a eardeafening roar from the three summon their minions to destroy you. you must collect the chest on top of the tomb and get out of the cave which after the roar starts to collapse, pieces fall down from the roof as you narrowly escape being crushed.

Enemies: three custom dragons: alkali, kronos and molum
two sets of wyrmlings
two squads of greenscales which are somewhat customized.

if the heroes try to open up the tomb/chest and collect the statuette the three dragon statues wake to life revealing two custom dragon guardians and othkurik or moltenclaw.

Tomb of the three dragon kings when coming from the grotto.

when you enter the tomb you see a long staircase leading down to a large lit room.

when youve descended into the tomb you see a lrge group of wyrmlings, some humanoid reptiles guarding the tomb. although you cant see them you can hear the sound of the dragons in the crypt. you expected dragons but not the entombed ones at full health. shortly after youre observings you hear a shriek from the wyrmlings catching not only youre attention but the dragons as well. you must get to the tomb and collect the statuette and get the hell out of here.

this encounter ends the campaign.
