awesomeunleashed, I think a lot of people will travel in the summer. If you'll be gone for a month, well, that's an issue. Otherwise, it's up to you and what you think makes sense and what you think you can/will do.

Keep playtesting and you'll be on this list again, btw.

I hardly have time to work on what I have to get done right now. I'm afraid you'll want to strike my name from the list this time as well.

I should be around for the next one, though, and will hopefully have had some time to playtest between now and then, too.

Some of you noticed that we didn't do a Public Access Poll last month. It wasn't an oversight. Rather, we have voted to extend Public Access to 3 (instead of 2) months. To make that work, we pushed off that last poll and from here on out we'll do a Poll every 45 days. Giving each PAM 90 days of access to the Sanctum, a bit more time to work your magic and leave your imprint on the C3V.

I think this will be a win-win for everyone involved.

And with that announcement, here are the 8 Scapers nominated for Public Access for June-Aug:

I accept! Thank you for the nomination. I have a lot of ideas I've been keeping under wraps in hopes of being nominated--so you should vote for me. ;)

I will also be busy here and there over the summer, but never for more than a week, and never so much that I won't be able to check in.

It is an honor to be nominated again. Though this is just a trick to get my play test reports for Bramcephys.... Isn't it? (he was almost as much fun as his size!!)

Hrm, it's June. Still no new figures. Where are they? You got us all distracted for two days with that public access poll (don't think I didn't notice the timing. That was purely to distract us from the fact that the new guys aren't ready yet. It has nothing to do with it being the end of the month). But I remembered! New wave! New wave! New wave! New wave!

That wooshing sound you heard was that joke going right over your head. I think, though, that you were not alone.

I was making a joke on the "Americans are uneducated" thing (that all other countries seem to believe about us), together with "Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it". Apparently I went just a little too hard on the mixed references.

I agree. Of course, it's almost to my disadvantage that I'm an insane Star Wars fan-I recognized those immediately as Geonosian Starfighters.* Still, I think that most people won't notice, and I certainly don't care...

*I mean, without looking at the names of the figures... :pBelieve me, the recognizability of minis taken from other sources (usually Star Wars minis or Heroclix) is an ongoing debate within the C3V. I wish we could choose wholly original minis that wouldn't make people think of something other than Heroscape, but it's not always possible. Thanks for letting this one slide, though. :)

I recognized it as well, being a pretty big Star Wars fan. Minor characters (or ships, in this case) like that don't bother me at all. Now Darth Vader would be another story.

What I do find interesting is that they would be the first Classic 'Scape units that are 'floating' on their bases. Again, doesn't bother me, and it opens up some more possibilities for you guys, it's just interesting to note.

As someone who was in the sanctum and worked with this kind of stuff, 1 week is actually needed for "recovery time" (Only words I think could describe it) and you don't want to overload everyone's minds with all the cards at once as each figure will not receive as much attention.

They are community made customs and the cards are free. All you have to buy is the figures that correspond to the card.

Is C3V just customs sold in waves?

The C3V is an attempt to continue the world of Heroscape with Customs built from the ground up and tested thoroughly to make sure they fit into the Heroscape canon and are seamlessly compatible with Official figures.

We are a group of about 2 dozen fans of the game, including Admins of this site who with the help of some of the playtesters of the Official game, gave us the tools to develop Customs that are close to the real thing. The C3V works in stages including Design, Editing and Playtesting as we work our way to a release in Waves just like Hasbro did and we encourage Tournament Directors to adopt our designs to be used in games along side other Heroscape figures.

We also ask Scapers to help in Playtesting when units have gone through testing by out Playtesting Deptarment which can be signed up here:

C3V Public Playtesting Sign-up (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=33397)

Check out this thread which should give you a introduction the C3V and what we are doing with this project.

Bought new minis yesterday, but only the starship ones. I wound up with 6 of the aces, but only 5 of the others (stupid having to buy on ebay), so it looks like I'll have a spare. As for the mummies, and the new unique squad, still haven't managed to get into my minis to check for them. I was gonna find the mummies when I did DnD last night, but we canceled due to player absences. Sad day.

ETA: Haha! Checked 'em. Two mummies. Unique squad on order from CSI.

New units tomorrow. But I'll be super busy the next two days, so I may not get to see them until Friday.

Not really sure where to put this, but to get 1 squad of Havech Eradicators you need 1 pack right? It looks like the pack they come in comes with 2 squads, but some of the figures look different and I can't really tell. I also notice one is much larger than the others, is their any plans to use this figure?

Any of the figures in the box can be used for the squad. The Unit box comes with 6 figures.

It's too bad that all of the squads won't be exactly alike, but the alternative is paying double and having a bunch of unused minis.

A question about the 2 man common squad of Sylva Confrontation figures, do the designers think that more than 3 of these would be good to have? I know that is usually the case with the DK and Mezzos, but the Wolfen army box comes with 3 squads of them so I was just wondering

NecroBlade

They're being designed so that just 3 squads is a fine number to have, but you could also possibly play larger numbers of them.

So do the spearmen work fine with 2 squads?, because in the Public Miniature Information Thread it says you won't need more than 1 of the Confronataion starter box set, but it only includes 2 squads of spearmen.

Thanks!

Also it interesting that he suggests 6 squads of a 4-man squad since that would fill up an entire standard start zone.

For the spearmen, depending on your playstyle and so forth, I'd say 2-4 squads (2 squads make nice complementary units, 3-4 make a nice focus of your army). I really can't even fathom when you'd use 6 squads, unless you were playing like a 700-800 point game.

Considering their point cost and start zone restrictions, I plan on playing them to their max potentional, without heroes, which will equal 6 squads at 24 hexes. IMO, with their abilities, I think they will be fun to play that way. I guess I may be in the minority in this, though.

Ok, time for some analysis!

Its pretty likely that he is thinking of a tournament-sized army, so the army is most likely 500 points.

(checks calculator)

500 divided by 6 is 83.33333333333 (etc.)

Now, add in the fact that Mega said players could easily swap a squad of spearmen for Raelin. Guess what? Raelin V1 is 80 points.

6(squads of spearmen/Raelin)x80=480+20(filler)=500

The other possibility of course is an army of 600 points, in which the squad would be priced at 100 points.

6(squads of spearmen)x100=600
and
5(squads of spearmen)x100=500+80(Raelin)+20(filler)=600

I bet that the spearmen are either 80 or 100 points, with 80 being the favorite. ;)

Is that about right?

Is any one going to order the dragon soon? I checked shipping to PR and its $11 just for one item. Thats $17 for a single figure. If some one is willing to buy more that one I would love to trade for it or purchase it plus pay the shipping. I know its more trouble to do it this way but my wife would kill me if I paid almost $20 for a single figure. Or maybe I could get a few people interested and do a group order to get the $50 free shipping then just reship the figure to each person? Should come out to less than $10 each. Any one interested?

@ Porkins ~

So if I understand this correctly, you are going to order a bunch of these dragons (that are not even "official," yet), have them sent to you in Tucson, AZ, and then redistribute them to PR, PA, CA, UT, TX, and FL, respectively. That is really COOL, and very nice of you to "head up." How are you going to handle the individual reimbursements ... trade, cash, check, credit-card, PayPal, First-Born, etc.?

I always hate paying maximum shipping for only one or two items and always try to combine a bunch of things into every order I make on eBay, Auggies, MiniatureMarkets, CoolStuffInc, etc. This actually sounds like a good deal to me, and I'd like to also get in on it. In fact I'll buy two of them draygoons, so that you have the minimum order of NINE to get the FREE shipping, realizing that MegaSilver and Grison haven't gotten back to you yet and many others have not even discovered this amazing offer.

What do you mean "are not official".

If the C3V releases a miniature in the C3V Public Miniature Information Thread (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=35777)it is an "official" C3V sculpt. We will use each miniture listed in that thread in future C3V waves.

Just a FYI ;)

robbdaman
July 25th, 2012, 04:01 PM
I'm not sure what you mean by "official" because C3V is a customs project but as far as our process goes it is on the books as being a dragon we will use. Once it is announced it is set in stone that the figure will be used, the only reason that might change is if there is a huge change in availability making it no longer viable. This happened with Haduc early on and we are very careful now to make sure that availability is good for things and we give as much early notice so people can make purchases. Rest assured though that we will use that Bullyland dragon come Hell or high water at this point.

I understand. I was just pointing it out so everyone understood that when we release a sculpt to the public, we will use that figure in a future wave.

We decided to per-release sculpt information after our "supply" of Omegacron sculpts dried up while we were getting the first C3v wave together.

We realized we can't control the "supply" but we can get the information out to the public as soon as possible so Scapers can get a hold of miniatures that will be a C3V Unit someday. It is the "best" way so far to combat the "supply and demand" of pre-painted miniatures.

No problem Johngee...if you trust our designs so far I hope you consider buying ahead of time...before units disappear when we release a unit Army Card to the public...that is the whole point of per-releasing sculpt information in the first place.

Is it available elsewhere? Because if it is that limited I can't see C3V using this figure.

Well met!

These kinds of issues prompted this in another thread:

"I just bought both the Ram and Wolfen Army Boxes from Noble Knight. Ideally, I would be able to see the C3V cards for units before purchasing them, but recent history has made me fearful, given the current rarity/unavailability of figures previously released. Fortunately, the quality of the C3V units released thus far has been pretty high. I am also hopeful that -

Quoting myself from elsewhere:

Redundant Systems seems far better than 4 life, and the same mechanic under different names should lead to a unique squad renaissance.

Take the Kozuke Samurai, and give them Samurai Armor that operated like Redundant Systems, call them what you will. Even 1 point would make a huge difference.

- given the focus on unique squad development in these Army Boxes, the C3V team will 'make my dreams come true.'"

Now I am afraid that I have acted prematurely. If the figures I bought (Ram and Wolfen Army Boxes) become rare/unavailable between now and when their Wave is created, will they have been purchased in vain? (Of course, if they become that rare, I can trade them for lots of cash to buy Heroscape.) And not too afraid, as some of the Ram have already been released, and the Wolfen seem pretty far along already. As trust in C3V quality rises (as it must, seeing as how they have created consistently high quality units thus far), and more Heroscapers buy in, a pattern of becoming rare during release and/or pre-release could cause production to go up. I'm rapidly talking myself down here. :grandfather:

Seems like a pretty good investment.

Those announcements have been around for months, and this one for several days. I think there's a big difference. Bases on the short two-wave history of C3V, the worst I'd expect is that the units you purchased would also have "alternates" that become acceptable proxies a la Varkaanan Blade Dancers. Your figs will be used, and I expect even if the other stock didn't show up this one would be used, just perhaps with another figure as a possibility too.

Kolakoski, you have not acted prematurely. Designs are in the pipes for almost every single figure in those army boxes. Designs for those figures WILL be released. In fact, most of the designs for the Ram Army box have already been released. See wave 15.

We announced the use of the Confrontation Army/Starter boxes back in September of last year...so I think many Scapers have gone out there and invested right along with you Kolakowsi.

The Ram Army Box should already be a good investment, as with that you get 4 squads of Skeletons of Annellitia and 4 Skull Demons. Then you also get an upcoming Unique Squad, a Huge Unique Hero.
(The only units in that box we have not uses are the purple gargoyle things, because we found them extremely and annoyingly fragile.)

The Wolfen Army Box should release after the Large Expansion and it has the two Unique heroes that are in playtesting right now and 4 Unique Squads that work together like nothing else in scape so far...we have had to really test and test these guys to get them right...but I'm convinced the public will be pleased with the results. Plus you get 3 squads of Animae Sylvestres (http://www.miniaturemarket.com/confrontation-wolfen-of-yllia-animae-sylvestres-unit-box.html). So rest assured your investments will be vindicated in time.

I'd prefer that payments be sent as gifts since I'm gifting you my time and effort to get this done. Otherwise I end up losing a bunch to Paypal fees.

They're coming from Utah, not Germany.

Now I am afraid that I have acted prematurely. If the figures I bought (Ram and Wolfen Army Boxes) become rare/unavailable between now and when their Wave is created, will they have been purchased in vain?

As others have responded, once we announce the mini, that figure/those figures absolutely positively will be used. Now, if availability drops suddenly, we may have to announce that such and such a figure/figures are acceptable proxies. That's the extent of any possible "changes."

As for the Bullyland dragon, let's put the brakes on the panic, peeps. ;) Unlike the Confrontation figures, this is not an out-of-print mini. This is an in-print, currently in-production figure. Perhaps it's just a question of waiting for this model to be restocked.

As for the alternate version, it does appear to be ever-so-slightly different. For one thing, it has fewer horns. ;) But I'm sure it's an acceptable proxy. However, before we go for the alternate, we may want to try to contact the company to see if they will be able to restock the original figure.

At this point, I'd prefer the "original" instead of the alternate, which are down to three. If I can have one of the three, then I'm in at this point. If you've already ordered, and included one for me (either model), then I'll pay for it.
If we can get any more info from TGF as to how often/how many they can reorder, I'd like the clarification.

Porkins, they're slightly different models, the alternate has fewer horns, more prominent teeth, a narrower wingspan; the webs of the wings are different.

Good News:

Hi Shawn! Thanks for your interest! More of the Bullyland Dragon Flying Turquoise figure should arrive in stock mid to late August. Unfortunately there may be a slight price increase for this item once the next shipment arrives. How many are you interested in? Please let us know at your convenience.

Thanks,
Kevin

This is the perfect reason for a front-page poll, to have people sign up for Big Blue.
How many do you think would be good, ZB -- 50 to start?

Talk about good customer service! This company is small enough to know what it is doing.

I have a nice looking proxy, though, not as official looking as this one. Mega Bloks did a "plasma dragons" thing a few years ago and I happen to have the blue one. I can post pics if anyone is interested.

I'm still willing to part out the dragons, if most people want to wait until the August re-stock...and price increase. So far, we barely have enough interest to get to $50, so I'm not seeing us get to 50 dragons...

Hi,
First time poster and not sure if this is the relevant thread but, what's the news on Locksley? Was he taken out of play testing? Is he being redesigned?

I'm a bit confused - Is the "Nidhog" unit going to be that big (ugly) cyclops thing? Or a dragon? I remember there was discussion of the origin of the name, and it's Norse or something, which makes me think it's going to be a dragon. Just wondering.

I'm cool with waiting until August. That's just tomorrow, right? :D

Perhaps by then we'll have more people signed up, too.

Valkrill's dragon. It was initially going to be the dracolich from castle raveloft I think.

Lets see then... large expansions have 5 figures.

Quahon (Blue Dragon)
Racheim (Chimaera)
Deathcommander Mark 3 (Soulborg)
Augamo (Maug the Soccer Player)
Bramcephys (Cyclops)

Unless the Soulborg is swapped for The Great Skull, that's the most obvious guess, imo. It'll probably come pretty soon too, since all those guys are in playtesting!

I agree with all of them, but wonder if Bramcephys will have to take a rain check because he is put on hold right now. Replace the Cyclops with the Great Skull and there is the standard five large figures released in a large expansion.

Hey guys, while I love to see speculation going on, I don't think this is quite the right thread for it. :)

I guess the Deathcommander just got booted out of the Large Expansion... unless we are getting 2 Large Expansions

Keep on speculating...but i'll say we have lots of designs going thru the C3V process...so you never know what figures we are going to put into a Wave. ;)
