Since C3V and SoV are supposedly working together-ish... at least making sure they can work together, should this books index also hold the books for SoV figures? Or should the SoV display thread be the sole source for links to those books?

Hmm ... since Griff is no longer active in the project, I wonder if the C3V/SoV folks don't want to start a new thread for this and lock this one down?

Sounds like some good questions for the ERB.

Can't wait to see this thread fill!

As for locking the thread and starting a new one, we'll have to talk about whether we want to just use our Mods for this job or do a new one. That is a bridge I hope we are crossing soon...

I don't see why we need to lock this thread, as you see in C3G, the public is free to post in their Books. And they can also help us find errors that we have made. I think all we need is a good cleaning once or twice a month that gets rid of unnecessary posts.

No doubt.

I wonder who will be making the Books.

The Book of Zaeus (130 Points) Vydar (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?p=1472646#post1472646)
The card in the book is not the same as the card posted by Thruth in the Home page !!!
I prefer the one in the book.

I was wondering why C3V had revised the text revealed by ZBeeblebrox in Scaper of the week #69 (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/blog.php?b=1831)
GORILLINATOR ATTACK BONDING
After revealing an order marker on Zaeus, you may take a turn with a squad of Gorillinators you control before taking a turn with Zaeus. The Gorillinators cannot move during this turn.I was happy to read this.
It's simple, clear and avoid any problems that may possibly occur when a character attacks out of its turn.

The other text seems clear and safe at first, but I fear it is more likely to cause confusion in some circumstances.

The card in the book is correct. The card on the home page was a prototype.

You have excellent taste, dalu, good catch. ;)

Yup, there was a little glitch and an early version of Zaeus was accidentally posted to the front page, rather than this correct version.

We'll call him Hatamoto Zaeus now. ;)

I prefer the one in the book.

Fixed.

The other text seems clear and safe at first, but I fear it is more likely to cause confusion in some circumstances.

Yes, your playtest comments were part of the reason it was changed in the first place. ;)

Minor glitch, all fixed now. Nothing to see here, move along folks, nothing to see here.

I am really pumped about the C3V customs. Same goes for SoV. I am really impressed with these army cards--they definitely have the feel of classic 'scape, but they add something new. The figures also look really great.

Thanks so much for all the time and effort you've put into this so far!

I do have a question though--I thought I read somewhere that C3V and SoV were both given the authority (by someone who had the authority) to officially add figures to the Heroscape canon. Was I wrong? Or was it just SoV? Because I saw the notice on the blog-post about how these are not official figures.

No one actually is adding anything to the official canon, but many members of this community are willing to accept the C3V and SoV units as tournament-playable. They will never be allowed at any official GenCon tournament, but they are thoroughly tested.

At the risk of tooting my own horn, I would say that we have extremely high standards for what we will allow ourselves to accept.

We are trying to make sure the SoV/C3V units work well within the Heroscape canon and that they are fully compatible...but its up to your gaming group and/or tournament director if you allow them to be played. There is not official authiority for heroscape. As for GenCon, because mant people come to genCon who do not know what scapers is, it is unwise and unfair to allow them at that large of a Venue.

What I'd like to see though is one event that is a SoV/C3V promotional Tournament at GenCon where its known that SoV/C3V units will be accepted.

These units are all balanced, like everything that came before, with casual play in mind. The Greater Ice Elemental costs 120 points and will not ever be feared as a tournament powerhouse. Not because he costs too much, but because to get 120 points of value out of him you need the attendant circumstances (map, army, opposing army) to be just right.

When you start talking about competitive environments, it's up to the tournament director. I'm a tournament director, and at my events C3V and SoV are both allowed.

I had the advantage of knowing how awesome the C3V units were, though, when I made that rule.

The Tournament Director's #1 responsibility, in my opinion, is to get people to show up. If people come to his event and have fun, he's succeeded. To my mind, allowing C3V and SoV is a way to keep the hobby breathing and alive for the future, to keep people coming back as they play with new units and new ways they may interact with old ones.

So I allow them.

I'll be interested to see how they are received at events elsewhere, at the events where they are permitted. For now I hope TDs are looking at what we've done and are saying "That looks sharp, let me see what else is in Thormun's Reprieve, and maybe I'll allow it."

But it's their decision and, as I said, I believe their number one priority is to get butts in the seats.

footnote: GenCon is its own animal. I'm glad I don't have to decide anything about GenCon. :D

If no official event is sanctioned at GC next year, I would be willing to help set up an unofficial event ZB. My crew is talking about running some 2v2 or possibly a dungeon crawl (more players, less maps, and the organizer gets to play.) Let me know if you want to work on something.

Awesome job gentlemen. I appreciate all your efforts to keep this great game alive and fresh. You have inspired me, I may have to write a new poem about the Lizard King. Thanks to all the C3V crew and play-testers. Game on...

C3V miniatures (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=35758). Although I think you mean links to the actual items in webstores such as Auggies, Miniature Market, CoolStuff, etc., which is something that could be valuable.

As for Omegacron, look for Mechwarrior "Marauder IIC" (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Marauder+IIC&_sacat=44012) where there are other colors of the unit but the same sculpt. Does anyone like printing multiple commons? According to the rules, you don't need multiple commons cards unless you have two players who have the same common (which they could also each have the same unique) but you would only need multiple cards for UnCommon figures, for which there is non in C3V, but the SoV Zombie Hulk is and I have a separate page for him. However I understand some people like multiple commons just for the sake of consistency with official figures coming with a card per squad or hero, and so you know how many squads you have when you are drafting by card. So I may change to make common cards separate, but let me know if this is useful. Also, there is 4 common units this wave and I am not going to make everyone happy no matter how I split the cards because people may want different amounts of each figure so some printing will be wasted.

FYI - I tried to have it printed at OfficeMax today - but they were idiots as they did not know how to flip the paper properly so the backs printed on the back side, in the right direction, and on matching sheets with the fronts. So after an hour of being there and twice as many messed up pages as correct ones I bought some individual paper to print for later and left. I will cut the ones I have tonight and see how it lines up. I suggest everyone buy some 80 lb card stock w/ semi-gloss finish (really hard to find) and print on your own. If anyone finds any 110lb semi-gloss, please let me and others know where.

lefton4ya, my suggestion of how to divvy up the cards was in another thread (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?p=1486812#post1486812). I, for one, would like multiple copies of Common or Uncommon cards.
I will cut the ones I have tonight and see how it lines up.After enlarging the PDF, the Mariedians and Thrall's Advanced card side edges are overlapped slightly by their neighbors; the Gnids basic side is also overlapped slightly. Given the choice, I'd prefer the basic side overlapped.

This is a great resource, though. I appreciate all the hard work that's gone into it.

Correct me if I got it wrong. SoV is open to everyone, hence people nominates customs units to go into it. While in C3V, it's a group of assigned (or a selection of) Heroscapers who collaborate to create a custom unit.

Dad_Scaper

Right.

The SoV evaluates units made by other people, the C3V, like the 'Scape designers Back in the Day, makes its little treasures in secret and releases them in 'packs.'

Both projects only approve units using widely available figs.

Priscus (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=41275) is now added to the index at the top.

This marks a milestone for the combines C3V/SoV FanScape project.

Priscus is the 16th unit this combined project has released or, depending on how you count, the 16th unit good enough for Valhalla, prepared and/or reviewed in a standardized format, released since WotC pulled the plug on its own involvement with the game.

After Capt. John Varan he is, surprisingly, only the second human. If he is not the first completely unarmed figure in the game I suspect he is close to it, as well.

The milestone Priscus marks is this:

After the release of Priscus, each general is represented in FanScape. Einar is no longer the odd man out.

Now, you might say, we are getting somewhere.

Ok, I put a section title for "Thormun's Reprieve" above the Wave 15 units. Obviously it ends where the next starred (SoV) unit appears, or in the future perhaps where the next C3V wave title appears.

Seconded!
Put a C3V Wave 14 in front of Thormun's Reprieve, and you've got it.

And, there needs to be another thread for C3V glyphs.

Question on Holdir: If a figure with a normal multi-attack option (like Syvarris) uses Holdir, only one of his two arrows gets the extra die, right?

Yes. They made it that way partly to keep down on the extra Hydra attack power.

I made C3V wave 1 compilation (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=3427), but someone else needs to make a C3V wave 2 compilation after all are public, and could add SoV to it too. You will need to download all the card (front & back) PDFs, have photoshop and acrobat pro (not just a PDF printer), and about 20 min to do it, so hopefully one person can handle it. Here's how:

How I did it (and how you can print just the images you want at 3/page):
Directions for Photoshop CS5 in Windows. Should be the same for CS3/4/5 in Win or Mac, can be done in other photo programs (GIMP, Paint.NET, Fireworks) but commands may be different.
Create a new document - U.S> Paper 8.5x11 300dpi, RGB, 32-bit, white/transparent backround
View\Ruler (Ctrl/Cmd+R). Drag the top ruler 0.175, 5.5, and 10.825. Drag the left ruler to 0.175 & 8.325. Make sure Snap is on (View\Snap). You can save this as a "Template" so you don't have to do this for the each page, only the following steps.
Open an explorer/finder window and drag the three PDFs you want to here
When each "Place PDF" pops up, select "Page" hit "OK" and press enter to place the layer. The popup should come up 2 more times
Menu Layer\Rasterize\All Layers
For each image, click on the layer, select the Magic Want Tool (W), click on a white space, press delete.
Use the move tool (V) and move the layers/images to snap at the upper-left, lower-left, and center-right guides.
Save each page as PNG or PDF. Repeat the steps above for every 3 cards and for backs make sure to reverse the snapping step above to opposite sides of the page.
If you have Acrobat Pro, you can combine either the PDFs or PNGs outputted for each page into one PDF, putting basic side pages after master side ones.
I am sure everyone would appreciate it.

Frankly, I grounded myself from buying anymore 'Scape for a while. I already spent $100+ at auggies on his custom lava and some other figures (OK maybe that's not a lot but if you only make $20 a week...). Also, I'm looking to pre-order Madden 13.

However, after all of that I'll unground myself and get the figures. Again, thanks C3V for putting out great quality customs for the community and to continue putting 'Scape out there for us to look forward to!

For what reason: "she took an ill turn, but wherefore I cannot say".
As a result of which: "truly he cared for me, wherefore I title him with all respect".

I'm certain that a question along these lines has been asked before, but I'd like to pose it again. What would need to be done to get a basic-side of the army cards for SoV units?

I like 99% of what has come out of C3V and SoV, but the SoV approved units only have the Master Game side of the army card, and while they're all good, thematic units, this makes them 'stand out' from the rest of the game in a way that just bugs me.

Not that I've ever played a basic-rules game of Heroscape, it would just be nice to have conformity if I'm going to consider it all to be 'official'.

Would you be interested in a PDF with the card printing neatly on both sides? So you get a 2-sided card, but both sides have the one card approved by the SoV?

I don't know if that's possible, but it might be doable, if the right people could be persuaded to give a little more time than they already do...

See, it's just a bit of my latent OCD shining through; I'm seeking the simplified, inclusive basic-game stats and larger picture of the mini, just like all of the official and C3V cards.

I understand that this would require more work by those involved (and benefit very few players, not including even myself!), I just feel that the SoV submissions are lacking in this way.

This won't keep me from playing/proxying the units; I just don't like them as much because of it! Sorry to be a beeyotch...I have the utmost respect for the designers and playtesters within the SoV/C3V projects.

Not me! One of the designers/playtesters should have that honor. They'll be more familiar with any synergies that may exist for [him?] (although I have discovered that he is boosted by the Skull Demon's Valkrill Attack Aura).

Our fans are welcome to take "that honor" as well. :)

Seriously, its not reserved for playtesters or designers or anything like that. Its first-come-first-serve, just like the Classic Books.

Deathcommander link doesn't work. Try this link (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=47052). Just pasting the link caused it to be shortened (for comparison, note that http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=47052 does not go anywhere if you copy the link and paste it instead of clicking on it.)

So I'm just gonna throw this out there: Can I make my own custom unit, submit it to yall, and see if it takes or not? What's the process for this?

Dad_Scaper

Welcome aboard, Ace. Check out the Soldiers of Valhalla for that. They're a picky bunch, be warned, and take a few minutes (days) to get a feel for the type of things they're looking for.

Of course, there are also groups making customs for Star Wars, superheroes, Lord of the Rings and more, so don't feel like the SoV has to be your place.

Take your time, find the best place for you, and feel free to start your own thread with your own customs.

Hey, quick question - where do you get the extra bases for these custom figures in order to have them fit in with the existing game? Also, when you print these out, is there a backside to the images?

I don't think most people rebase, but if you're OCD. (Like me. :p) You can rip extra RotV figures off their bases, or Auggies and Impact Miniatures sell custom bases. (Yodajunkie also has an ebay store.)

To answer you second question, yes the PDF's all have basic sides that print out back to back when printed double sided.
