(1 of which i have for dragonslayer2:))
Good.
Alright, my first battle was with grunttatics. His army was q9,laglor,ralien,krav,air elemental. I sent krug out first. Krug did his fair share taking out most of the krav, and then he fell I think. Then I moved in my hydra. Took out q9. Laglor then got a lucky hit and took off 3 heads with one shot. (that hurt) Then laglor played clean-up against my marro warriors, and drow chain fighter. So my first match was a loss.
Its now getting late, and I am going to bed. Its been a long, good day. My next battle will be posted tomorrow.

HOT LAVA DEATH!!!
...didn't do so well but it was fun anyway :D
All my battles went pretty much the same so I'll just do one generic battle report.
I really enjoy THEME and mostly fight for General Ullar but I just purchased a Heroscape HOT LAVA DEATH!!! T-shirt and sweater so wanted an army to match.
Last minute, day before the tournament I ran around purchasing packs of elementals and fielded:
6 Fire Elementals (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=29585)
Kurrok (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=31394)
Shurrak (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=31403)
Otanashi (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=19544) (which I borrowed from Josh and forgot to give back. HA! REVENGE FOR THE UMBRELLA!) hehe, no I'll get it back soon. And thanks for holding on to my umbrella for so long, it's appreciated.
The plan was to use Kurrok's 'Master of the Elements' ability to take turns with 3 Fire Elementals each action and get the FE into position adjacent to enemy figs A.S.A.P.
Here's why: Every time a FE takes a turn I get to roll a d20 for EVERY enemy figure adjacent to at least 1 FE. So if I already have 3 FE adjacent and I move 3 OTHER FE that's 3 attempts at the enemy figs plus any new figs I come into contact with. On a roll of 14 or higher that fig takes a wound. With this I was taking out Q-10 and other tough guys... even half-killed Charos that way.
Shurrak has the ability to hit multiple enemies and on a die roll knock them back 3 spaces. He didn't see a lot of action, his knockback never went off once, and he only got into position to use his multi-attack twice the whole night. Definitely want to change him out.
Otanashi was just a filler for the 10 points.
During the first half of each battle this worked well and I saw my opponent's face (and jaw in some cases) drop at the obviously superior forces of HOT LAVA DEATH!!! as their pitiful minions were decimated.
About the half-game mark and once my FE were reduced in number from 6 to 3 or less the scales tipped and suddenly I was losing.
Kurrok can summon(revive) elementals on a d20 roll of 11 or higher (50% chance) which sounds great, but he gives up the 3 FE's turn for that, so I could never revive them as fast as they were being killed.
By the time the 45 minutes was up I had lost, though I had inflicted heavy losses. My scores were in the 300's-400's each battle.
I'm thinking if I remove Shurrak and Otanashi (170points), add in 2 more FE and an Iron Golem (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=31388) (170points), then HOT LAVA DEATH!!! will do better.
2 more FE to make that mid-game swing last a bit longer and the Iron Golem to replace Shurrak - the Golem has better attack and defense (6/6) plus 2 autoshields vs special attacks (can you say Q-insert number here?)
It was great seeing everyone get at least 1 prize, thanks Josh and Leonard and the game store.
I also enjoy seeing customs on the table and your homemade trophy skill improves with each tourney!
Other tourneys have store credit prizes but I like having HEROSCAPE prizes.... keep the addiction fed right? ;)
It was great to play alongside fellow LEAGUERS John and Rob as well.
That's the League of Extraordinary Heroscapers (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/347216/join-the-league-of-extraordinary-heroscapers-a-soc) (a society for venerable elderly 'scapers) which is open to players age 35+ and hosted on Boardgamegeek (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/) which is, in my opinion, the best website ever made.
It's a forum for discussion of Heroscape and other games, painting, beverages, personal life stuff, etc for us old guys.
Hope to play you all again soon!
Happy Heroscape day!

Fallow, that's awesome. Didn't realize I had such bad hat-hair until I saw those pictures. Lol.
Wanted to say thanks to Dragonslayer2 for putting on a terrific event. I had a blast.
And man, this trophy really is sweet looking. Best homemade trophy I've seen to date. (Just unseated clan's Golden Viking).

Thanks Mike......I can make more if you want. There were 6 skulls in the pack. So I still have 5 left....all I have to do is paint them, and make them look cool. (My next idea is a skull dice tower trophy......)

Dragonslayer2's NHSD event this year was just as good, if not better than last year's. I had been looking forward to it all year, and the anticipation was only fueled by the promise of playing against the fine gentlemen (and ladies) who I've gotten to know (somewhat) through the local tournaments of the past 365 days.
Even though my performance was miserable, due in large part to my chronically poor luck with dice, as my Heroscaper moniker aptly describes, I enjoyed each and every match-up. That pleasure can be wholly attributed to the impeccable sportsmanship and enthusiasm of the participants. From the youngest player to the oldest, the greenest to the most experienced, the simple truth is that no finer assembly of Heroscape players could be gathered in one room together. Thanks to all for making it a fun day!
I won't describe each of my disappointing battles/losses, as they all unfolded in roughly the same tragic way. Suffice to say, NEVER count on the seemingly safe defense of any Deathwalker unit! Mine were successfully cut down by my opponents within 2 rounds of play, leaving me with Cyprien, Sonya, and one Fire Elemental to wander the field with the pathetic hope of bagging just one enemy, which was just sadly misplaced optimism on my part. Nevertheless, I will treat the punishing losses I received as a learning experience and revel in the knowledge that there will always be a "next time".
Congratulations to the top winners. Big thanks to Josh and Leonard for putting it all together, keeping things on track, and making sure every player got a prize. Thanks also to Will(?) for the use of his space at Game Time Hobbies. I'm anxiously looking forward to the next event and the opportunity to prove that I CAN roll a shield on 11 dice!
Peace.

Did anyone happen to mistakenly take home a squad of Knights of Weston? Justine and I are missing one squad. There should be one with a P on its base and one without a sword (the other 2 have no noticeable features).

I do not believe that I have it, but I will double check my bins that I had laying around at the event. I am sorry to hear that you have lossed them. I will also check with Will at Game Time Hobbies and see if he found anything left behind. (If no one else has it.)
