I re-did the special attack for the JKoW so that it involves no math.

If you follow the link in my signature, you can see the step-by-step that I made up for them and for the Standard Bearers of Weston.

Trust me, if I can make them, they are easy.

Notice that there is no painting involved. =)

Well, one thing we have a lot of around here is "Knights and Swog Rider" packs.

If you make 2 Standard Bearers, and one squad of Jousting Knights, all you have to do is re-paint your Swog Rider into a Nerak, and you've made full use of the expansion in customs.

As long as you aren't buying tools, you should be able to make the SBoW for under $5 and the Jousting Knights for under $10 above the costs of the expansion pack($10), of course.

And the battle horses seem to be more scarce on ebay now, but they'll come back.

Not in the scale that I'd really say "fit." There was one OLD game that someone showed me that looked pretty close, but you'd have to paint the horses yourself. I don't recall the game's name because I immediately dismissed the idea of painting from the start.

yeah...painting is a real turn-off for customs for me....i dont partcularly like chopping and re gluing, either, but some cases you have no choice in the matter. you should enter CA"s contest. i know i am, if i can finish my custom in time....

The SBoW are old news. With the new ability wording, I actually considered entering the Jousters, but again, I've had them out for a while. If I manage to come up with something cool for the Swog Rider, I might enter that.

could you post the SBoW cards?

OK, OK.

The whole goal here was to make an addition to the Concan / Denrick / KoW army that looked good and worked well. I tried not to make anything too powerful. The Knights' army still has no ranged units so they are vulnurable to that. I think that these guys on the field look so F-ing cool together.

The Knights of Weston with their "Human Champion Bonding" can move Denrick or a Standard Bearer.

The SBoW Rally to the Flag affects the Knights of Weston and the Jousting Knights of Weston, but not themselves or each-other.

Concan's Knight Enhancement helps the KoW and the JKoW, but no one else.

The JKoW Lead the Charge bonus helps the KoW but not themselves or each-other.

You really have to pay attention when you General this army.

yeah. lack of range really sucks. Hasbro needs to make some Kyrie Snipers. man, i love kyries, except they need freakin range! and theres no real good units to make decent kyries with range out there either...

Sydcomebak

Ranged and flying? Sounds pretty powerful. Expect a squad of flying kyrie to cost you well over 200 pts.

I haven;t been following the development of this unit, but have you seen truth's Halls-of-Valhalla charging knight?

A compare and contrast on the Jousting ability would be interesting.....

I like the idea of the movement bonus of the 2nd ability, but from my memory I like truth's Charge mechanic better.

Sydcomebak

I see.....

I don't like that it is only on the full movement that you get it. Too easy to fend off and make it so he never gets to use it. Also, the passing swipes may pose a problem in heavier combat.

even if they only had 4 range and like 3 move i would still use them as much as i do any others. Price doesnt impact me that much, since most all of my games are 1500+ points

Just think of always being able to get to the higher ground and then having range when you get there.

yeah, but still. the flight would cancel the low range, IMO. call me naive, but i still think a ranged Kyrie army would be sweeet.

Make the flyers have a Special Ranged Attack and it solves a lot of problems with height, etc. They still will want height for defensive bonuses but won't be overpowered. They should still have a decent price attached to them. Making them unique would also mitigate the potential to have too many on the board.

no unique. not unless its a 4-fig-squad, and had alter egos (sentinel/minions) as well...i do like the idea of a special attack with range though. that would help reduce their price...

I think these variations on the KoW are great. My son loves KoW so I will probably make these for him by Christmas. Thanks for the ideas.

I've actually seen these in person, and all I got to say is they are beyond cool.
They are definitely something I want to try if I can get ahold of enough knights.......but then you can never have enough knights!!

 Hi Syd!! hope I didn't give you chickenpox, and Josh thought it was sort of unfair of you guys to gang up on him at the end"I didn't even have a chance papa!!They had four turns against my one!"

Standard Bearer of Weston.
I remember those. I read and reread the instructions for those. Those are awesome.

Hey J-n-P!

No worries about the pox, I had them a while ago. I'm sorry we ganged up on him, but I had to go home eventually!

I just picked up 2 more knights today at target for $10 each.

Jousting knights of Weston are my favorite custom ever! I use them all the time. Range + Flying is a terrible idea that will unbalance the game very quickly. I think a flyer with ranged attack should be, at the very least, a common hero, so that you have to buy them and activate them one at a time. Even better is to make each flyer a unique hero. I wouldn't recommend a squad at all - they'd just be too powerful. Except against other flyers, they'd automatically get height advantage, all the time. Not to mention disengage, and the ability to pass by other characters while moving across the board. If you give them any more than 1 attack and 1 defense die, they're just too powerful.

Been off the site for a while. These have always been my favorite custom by anyone, anywhere. Last night I played 2 squads of JKoW against a squad of the official Templars. Developed into a great cavalry melee in the middle of the board. Both squad's special abilities came into play and both seemed to be excellent units, even when pitted against each other. Has anyone else played them against the Templars?
