NHSD - Arkansas - Oct. 16, 2010

It looks like we'll be putting together a NHSD in Central Arkansas. The location will be First Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville (1208 West. Main Street). The format will, likely, be a four or five round Swiss style tournament.

Start time on Oct. 16 (Saturday): 11:30 a.m.
No registration fee; bring a prize (approx. $10 value) for the prize table. Bring two or three if you want to. They do not have to be HeroScape prizes.
50 minute game times.
550 point armies with 24 hex start zones. (50 point penalty, reducing the army size to 500 points, if your army includes Deathreavers, Q-9, or RotV Raelin.)

Well, I obviously will not be attending this NHSD event per se, as I am currently planning to attend our own local NHSD event, but I did want to throw a comment out there.

I like the idea of the 50-point reduction in total points if your army includes Deathreavers, Major Q9, or Raelin (RotV). That's a very cool idea, and I look forward to seeing the results of your tournament based on this caveat.

Question (mostly for my curiosity, and, I'm sure for some of the locals there ;)), but do you deduct the 50 points for each of those units? In other words, if you include the 'reavers and Q9 in your army, do you deduct 100 points, or is it only 50 points?

rym, I thought about reducing the army cost per "violation;" use all three and your army is down to 400 points...but thought that would be too much too much. So, it's just one penalty and you get to use all three if you want.

Ben and I will be there, and as always let me know what maps you want me to bring. I like the reduction, but I think if anyone wants to use Taelord that they should get an extra 50 points ;)

Although I won't be going this is an excellent idea. Tournament formats like this just showcase how simple revamps can completely alter army design and inspire creativity. Another reason why Heroscape is so great!

hahaha I could see how NHSD in dallas a few years back would have turned out than...as I took a page from Rev's diary and brough 4th mass but with Raelin and Taelord....

Woohoo I've been waiting forever for this! Put me down as a definate with a possible friend too. And Arido i'm hoping for a rematch with you this year. You destroyed me last year but i learned a lot at my first tourney and have since then. So I would love to be able to give a more competitive match this year. All in all I know we'll all have a great time and I can't wait.

I am very sad to inform you that I will not be able to attend. I had previously agreed to go with my church to a function, and they told me that it falls on the weekend of the tournament.:( I would love to be there, but if I don't go with our church then all the boys will have to stay home. So I wish you guys the best of luck in the tournament.
