Reporting from GenCon 2010; My Trip

Here's this year's thread for my reports: pics, videos, and any information. I'm leaving soon so I'll make this short.

I'm very excited to capture a lot on video this year for everyone. I'm taking pictures again for people to see too.

I'm hoping I'll have enough time to go back to the hotel room after each day a uploading and post most everything. But, posting pictures takes a while and uploading videos on top of that. So the priority for me is to get the vids done while I'm there. I know Retlaw takes a solid amount of pictures and can update frequently. I'll make sure to post any really important pictures; for example, Wave D2 or D3. I can assure you that everything willl be up by the Tuesday or Wednesday I return.

Make note that it will be hard for my to get a chance to go to Dealer's Hall until Saturday. I will send my uncle over there to take some shots and maybe footage, as well as buy the potential D2 release. Also make not that I'm playing in competitive tournaments and wish to do well over taking a few pics. And I do want to enjoy my GenCon so I won't spend all my effort getting pics and reporting things. But I'll do my best and I think I will capture a lot of videos. :)

Thanks everyone, I do hope you will enjoy it and can get a 'real' feel of GenCon if you've never been.

We have safely made it to our hotel all is good. 96 degrees. :?. After we get and eat the Papa John's we ordered (:drool:) I'll take a little vid of the room and a little pics. Later I'll compile a video of Day 1, Wednesday and post it tonight!

Like I said, pics are tough to get up fast and I didn't take anything too important today so the video will be the only thing. But you'll get important pics soon and all pics eventually.

Ugh, I hate how my voice sounds on camera (in this one and my OnacaraCon one). My uncle says everyone says that about themselves and everyone tries to act different when the cameras around. I guess I'll try to act natural for tomorrow. :o

Try explaining that to the big crew-cut ex-military looking cop who pulls you over for speeding: "Yes, officer, I'm driving a little fast, I'm late for a tournament playing a children's game! Why yes, that is a cooler full of beer (thankfully way back in the back seat, out of reach)." Surprisingly, he seemed mildly interested in my explanation of the game, but I had to cut it short or I would have been later. Didn't even get a ticket.

Went 4-1 and won 2nd place in Smack Down today. I gratefully got a Wave D1 and Orm's Return!

Working on posting the videos right now! LOTS of awesomeness. Not too many pics but that's ok.

No D3 preview nor D2 being sold at the Con. :(. But D2 was shown at the Heroscape/Summoner Wars event registration table and will be given as a prize for at least the Championship winner(s?).

I got a chance to meet and talk to two Team Covenant members because the monsterpocalypse tournaments are right near our setup and Colby's! I showed Jonathon the game and gave a little review of it. He was intrigued and was pretty interested in it. I gave him my info and he said he looks forward to talking with me the next three days and for me to meet and show the other members of the Team. It's very awesome I saw them and will further meet them. 8)

I had a great day today and captured a lot of games on video.

The videos take a very long time to get up on youtube. Youtube takes a bit anyway, but my hotel's internet is significantly slower than at home.

I'm trying to get Part 2 of thursday up (I don't want to go out of order) but at first it was saying "163 min. remaining". sometimes it takes forever and after it's done it says it didn't upload correctly and wasn't successfully, so I'll try it again right now.

But again, all will be up eventually. :)

I really haven't taken any pics or at least today; videos are much more fun.

Ok back from Day 5 or Sunday of my GenCon trip! I had an awesome year at GenCon and won more than I ever have. It was so cool to meet a bunch of new (to gencon) scapers and any I haven't met before. I loved playing against scaper_dude and lonewolf in the same event today. I had a lot of fun games throughout my tournaments. And although I dropped both for the Hall and footage, I got to play Hendal in General Wars and Stubobj and EternalThanos86 in Mixed Marvel. I thank all my opponents. I really didn't take pics, just a few the first day maybe. Vids are better and Retlaw and others have the pics covered. I think the best thing besides winning the dice and Monster Mash, and besides the whole heroscape community greatness as a whole, specifically was meeting Team Covenant. It was such a surprise and I'm gald we met and are GC friends now. I enjoyed talking to them about Heroscape and they cheered me on in Monster Mash. Thanks for everything TC.

wdgrant actually dropped an obscure reference to "UHF" on me in our round of 16 match. It's nice to know I'm not the only one making ridiculous references.

That's almost all of them (well it is all of them for GenCon). I made a video of the prizes and things I brought back to MA. I wanted to share them because this year was one of the best for me, especially in the tournaments. That will be up possibly tomorrow; it will take a little longer because I only have the footage on my camera so I still need to make the video then upload it.

I hope everyone enjoyed the videos to see what you missed or to look back on as memories. I'll be doing a lot more Heroscape videos soon. Pack reviews, strategies and tactics maybe, NESA events, anything cool I can think of. I'm thinking about doing the same for Summoner Wars, or will try to. But I'm holding off on filming right now because there's so much footage of GenCon. It was awesome being the video source of heroscape this year (and I'll continue to keep an attentive Channel status with other Heroscape topics for videos) and I'll do it again next year!
