View Full Version : Possible Castle Flag for Utgar?

I've had a Megabloks Keep I bought some time ago and personally think the banner is reminiscent of the Jandar Banner. I think it could work for Utgar since it is red. Here is the picture:

The white on the Flag is the result of glare from their camera I think. The set is called Ferroch's Stand and includes a magnetic keep, cannon, two Megabloks people, a few Bloks, and a few weapons and accessories.
I had hoped to take a picture of the flag I have next to the Jandar banner for size comparison but I have been unable to find the castle set. I finally decided I might as well post the Megabloks flag for now. Here is a picture of the castle with the Jandar banner stolen from the Kenjib Michael's terrain thread (thanks Kenjib; I hope you do not mind)...

Personally I think the two banners look pretty similar is design. I think the Megabloks banner is close to the same size as the Jandar banner but I need to find a Jandar banner to confirm it. Megabloks also had a black triangle banner (point down) which is reminiscent of Vydar IMO:

I believe the kits are around $5-7 so it may not be worth it for the banners alone. I bought them because I had waited too darned long for the castle! Unfortunately the keeps are not detailed at all: the bricks are actually just print. Still it is useful for storage of items and the magnetic cannon is fun. I'll probably use the cannon for a siege custom someday.

Well I finally got my hands on a castle set so I could take a picture of the Megabloks flag next to the HS flag. Here they are for size comparison:

The Megabloks flag looks a bit small but I think it could work.

(thanks Kenjib; I hope you do not mind)...
HOW COULD YOU!!! That's it. Pack up your crap and get outta my house!
Seriously though, that's really cool. I got a bunch of this Megablox stuff for the kids recently when Fred Meyer had it all at 75% off (helluva cheap!). I'll have to steal their flag lol. Now to figure out how to affix it... I could probably graft it onto one of my Jandar flag bases but I've never done custom stuff before and it's a different kind of plastic (not as soft and it feels lighter/cheaper) so I don't know how well they would connect.

chop the reg. castle flag off of the base and it might be just the right height. Then glue the red flag onto the base so you can put it on your castles. You should be able to glue that fairly easily.

That's funny - I was looking at one of the red-and-black flags that my son had in his hand just last night, thinking idly - "That looks kinda like an Utgar flag, doesn;t it?"
I'll look closer tonight....
WTF?!
I posted this AFTER the next 4 posts - why does the timstamp show them as having posted TONIGHT, or even tomorrow's date?

You could also add the flag to a figure if you do not have Ornak or want another Flag Bearer. You could make a Marro Flagbearer this way. ATM I have an Onyx Viper holding the flag since it can do so (sort of) without any glue :P

What kind of glue would I use - just tester's model glue type glue?

You would want to use an apoxy type of glue. If you bond something like this together you will need some flexability to it. Otherwise when you go to pull it off of a battlement it'll break. Of course you could also bond the whole thing to a battlement as well, :)

You could probably make a Marro Flagbearer using the Me-Burq-Sa model (replace gun with flag)... but I'm no expert.

The drones could probably make a good Marro Flagbearer as well since their weapons are already held vertically. At the moment I have the flag on an Onyx Viper: I have the base supported between the coils of the snake and the pole resting on the Viper's arm. Makes the viper a little top-heavy but I liked the look and resulting color scheme: red flag, black symbol and black viper.

Ok, I know this topic is supposed to be dead, but how many castle sets is that in you picture?

MadNik, it looks like one set to me.
And since we're here, I thought I'd share my custom flags:

They're Jandar flags that have been carved up and repainted. The skull on top of Utgar's flag is Sculpey modeling clay. (I also made the dragon out of Sculpey.)[/img]

Well Madnik thank you for ressurecting this thread so that I noticed it. I would have never thought to look at megablocks for cool flags.
Thanks all.
