Anyone here a BF2 player? Or seriously interested in 2142?

Ive played BF2 for a long time, and beta'd 2142. It looks like its gonna be a lot of fun. Whilst normally an RTS player (Total War and C&C mostly), the battlefields always held a little something for me... And 2142, with the mechs and futurist approach adds a nice dynamic.

So, any other players here at scapers?
If so, wanna get sniped?

I also beta'd 2142, but I have only tried it twice. I played BF2 for a little bit, but mostly on a modded 32MAN LAN. 31 Hard Bots and myself. Sure beats getting yelled at online by a gangly 13 year old who has no concept of anything outside his bedroom. All in all, I suck at BF2. I am good at FEAR however

Been playing BF since the start. I just cannot step away from BF2 Spec Ops. And BF2142 is making me giddy like a little school girl. I play online and at monthly LANs. Check us out at www.wvgamers.com.

Does Spec Ops add a lot to the game? Can you still use all the other classes?

Spec Ops really finished it for me. It gives you flash bangs, nerve gas, grappling hooks, and zip lines. Now you can stun rooms before entering them. And scale buildings. LOADS o' fun!

The classes remain the same, just different equipment.

I never played Spec Forces too much. Ive bought evcery expansion and booster; I enjoyed Euro Force the most. I may give SF another try though...

I am really enjoying the Infantry Only on "Road to Jalalabad", though. I love how it starts off every time with 10 minute of grenade dodging, then as soon as the yanks break through, it becomes a desperate urban fight....

How many expansions are there? I was under the impression only 1 was released. If there are others, I might have to try and get into it again.

BF2 Special Forces (Full Expansion)
BF2 Euro Forces (Adds another faction - the EU, with 3 new maps and some weapons - the Great Wall of China is fun, then theres a couple of Middle East ones - costs about 10 bucks)
BF2 Armoured Fury (Set in the US of A - was a lot of fun fighting in pennsyvania ;) Alaska is pretty fun too - again about 10 bucks)

Though Id recommend 2142, to be honest. The demo should be out in the next day or 2 (check IGN.com for info), its a BIG improvement on BF2, PLUS you get Mechs ;)

I would like to get the other 3 expansions. I gotta check gamestop or are they digital download from EA? I'll check it out later. . I'm 95% sure I'll get 2142 when it comes out, and I'm 100% sure I'll try the demo out some. Can't wait.

I loved Battlefield 1942 and it's various expansions, but I have decided not to buy any more games that are so enitrely dependent on multiplayer. I want a game with a good single-player mode, a good AI bot system for multi when nobody else is on-line, or a good split screen mode in the case of a console game. I won't buy BF2 or BF2142.

I just feel like I wasted my money on Battlefield 1942 because I can no longer find a decent number of games....especially ones that don't use some sort of mod or player created map. News flash....99.9% of player created maps suck, no matter what the game is.

I still think the base game is incredibly fun and wish more folks played it so that I could actually get good games in more frequently...I'm lucky if I find one good game a week, and one good night of gaming evey two months or so.

So many players of BF1942 complained "the maps are too big!" and so the designers cut the maps down to insanely tiny sizes for the new games starting in BFVietnam. I love big maps and thought that was one of the best things about BF1942. I loved having to get in a vehicle to cross the desert or the mountains to fight someone...it added so much atmosphere and so many different ways to approach an assault mission. On a tiny map you always know where folks are, you know where they are coming from and where they are going, and you constantly respawn in the scope of a sniper..the game became constant twitch action when it should have been more controlled, slower [aced, and more strategic to really get that back and forth fighting feel. What's worse is BFVietnam added JETS to the game and REDUCED the size of the maps....you tell me what sense that makes....a flying vehicle that goes insanely fast on a map so small that it can barely get a good run in before having to loop around....you spend most of the game just circling to avoid flying out of the world, not doing fun hit and runs. And don't get me started on helicopters....too steep of a learning curve to fly properly.

On an unrelated note, please ignore the black helicopters circling your home tomorrow. They are just studying traffic patterns.
