Alfred may be a Butler, but no one knows more about rescuing and recovering a wounded Vigilante or Sidekick while carrying a shotgun. Black Mask is a Crime Lord that does not tolerate failure. The self-serving Crime Lord known as Penguin lets everyone know that he is the head of his flock. The criminal psychologist, Harley Quinn, is obsessed with impressing her Insane companions. Robin's many years of experience and training with the world's finest Vigilante makes him especially dangerous when he is battling enemies that are preoccupied with a Vigilante.

Well C3G fans, it is that time again, and not soon enough! It was in March the last time we released a wave (Rise of the Mutants), and so much has happened since then. We have vastly grown our membership, we have over 50 designs now (some of which are hidden and are awaiting release), we have our own private forum where Heroes can just unwind and focus on designing without the politics of having to run such a huge guild, and we now have our 3rd wave ready for your viewing playing pleasure; Shadow of the Bat.

Wave 3 is really mostly focused on Gotham. Gotham is, in my opinion, the richest environment for a Superhero's career, and Gotham especially has some of the most unforgettable over-the-top villains of all time. This wave and the World's Finest is all you really need for you and your friends and family to have one giant battle between the Vigilante faction and the Criminal faction.

You will notice that the C3G Criminal faction is quickly building, and it will continue to build for a while longer. We have some very specific plans for them, and some of our plans can already start to be seen. For example, the Crime Lords each have a similar ability/detriment. Two-Face could attack several times or not at all, and he could also end up harming himself and even his own allies. Black Mask gives his Criminal Allies attack bonuses, but if they do not perform well enough for him, he will give them a wound. And Penguin plays along nicely, but he is a proud bird, and anytime you reveal an Order Marker on any card other than his, there is a chance that he may actually bypass that order and take the turn himself, and that is especially frustrating when trying to bond with your Street Thugs.

This Criminal Faction is meant to be just like our games, competitive yes, but most importantly FUN!

Now this Wave is great, but there are some other great C3G designs worth mentioning as well, and this one comes right from our own Ally (C3G new member) Scapemage921.
Jonah Hex (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=30986) by Scapemage921 is an excellent draft choice to help give you a reason to dust off those Classic Cowboy Lawmen of old (Guilty McCreech, James Murphy, and Johnny Shotgun Sullivan) for an even 300 points, and if you want to make it an even 600 with some added help to their movement, I strongly suggest the C3G Martian Manhunter (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?p=1056477#post1056477).

Recently, on the day of April 23rd, C3G had its 1 year birthday, and I wanted to do something special for us, but we all completely forgot about it because we were so busy working hard on these cards. So HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY C3G!!!! :D:up:

So now that we are caught up a bit, let me tell you what is in store for C3G's future. We are officially and now publicly announcing our up and coming Master Set 2, and let me tell you, it is going to be Fantastic. ;)

Let's go ahead and let people enjoy this now - if we get front page notice, that's an added bonus that will draw more eyes.

P.S. The comic art and dialogue is once again courtesy of our resident master comic, Whitestuff! :-)

P.P.S. One thing I really love about this release is it starts to make three "factions" for C3G a lot more viable in army builds - the "insane" one with Poison Ivy, Joker, Deadpool, and Harley; the "Vigilante/Sidekick" one with Batman, Black Canary, Robin, Alfred, and Green Arrow (who isn't vigilante or sidekick, but works well with Canary); and the criminal faction with the Street Thugs, Two-Face, Black Mask, Riddler, and Lex Luthor.

Hahma
July 18th, 2010, 12:34 AM
Yeah, Penguin and Black Mask give even more bonding options with the Thugs. Robin will really help out the Vigilantes, Harley is a blast to play and gives the Insane folks someone to bond with. Good ole Alfred is always there when Bats and his buddies get in trouble.

Jonah Hex will be a great boost to the Lawmen.

Should Army Card be capitalized in Self-Importance?
Should it be Umbrella-Copter throught the power text (not fly)?

But wow, great stuff everybody.

Nice catch Sir Galahad. Lot's of things going on behind the scenes, we missed this. Penguin had some final editing issues and I guess while that was going on, some minor details slipped through.

The term 'army card' is inconsistently capitalized in the official cards. Some cards have it lower cased, and some cards have it capitalized, so it doesn't really matter, unless you have a preference, which I don't.

But flying is so much easier to say. :p

Great set overall, but I think Alfred is probably one of my favorite figures so far - by C3G in general. He's just so... thematic. I can imagine Batman getting beaten up, he's on the edge of defeat, and then, POOF! He's gone! You spend a round patching him up behind a cliff somewhere, and then he leaps back into action before the crooks know what happened. Of course, he's the rarest and most expensive of them all. Just how it works out, I guess.

The new "Crime Lord" faction is just great. Reminds me a lot of the Warlords in classic. You get a bunch of Legionnaires and a handful of Warlords - Marcus, Parmenio, Ne-Gok-Sa, Valguard, whoever - and go to town. And, of course, a Warlord/Soldier Army is my absolute favorite. As we get more Crime Lords, and more Criminals (is that a hint at Sandman I see?), it'll only get better. Now I need to get some of those crooks...

One thing I just have to congratulate y'all for, though, is Penguin's Self-Importance. It's fantastic - one of the best translations of an abstract concept (Penguin being conceited) into a solid gameplay mechanic. I mean, you read it, and it's just... that's Penguin. The power isn't necessarily Penguin, and Self-Importance isn't necessarily that power, but when you throw them altogether, it's like... a Reese's Cup of goodness.

And it's nice to get a good "theme set." You buy these all together and it's real easy to get a Batman/Criminal game going. Perhaps a Scenario is in order...

(Oh, and with Penguin, it would be easy to say "may fly with his Umbrella-Copter." It'd keep the wording the same otherwise.

EDIT: And I assume you guys'll be updating the Books with synergy and stuff? It'd make finding Vigilantes and Sidekicks a lot easier.

I'm sure we'll let the allies go through and find the synergies for us again for design points. :-)
For the record, I'm pretty sure our current vigilantes are Venom (official), Batman (world's finest), Black Canary (world's finest), Huntress (brave and the bold), ********* (TBA) and ******** (TBA). :-D
Oh, and as to the Criminal Faction ... you ain't seen nothing yet!

Great job boys... like I expected anything else. What a great grouping of figures to release together, you guys still got it.

First off, I must say that Alfred surprised me the most. I was really skeptical when I first found out that you guys were doing him, but wow was I wrong. I think he's my favorite.

One question I do have is on Harley's Insane Devotion. Was it purposeful to not limit it to Unique Heroes?

And as for Penguin (who also finished up quite nicely) and his copter, if the "fly" wording bothers you (which it doesn't bother Griffin but I can agree with LP that it seems a little off), you could always just change the title of the power to:

UMBRELLA-COPTER FLYING 3

Then you really have no problem using fly throughout. Of course you could always replace the verb "fly" with the pseudo word "copter"... yuck.

EDIT: By the way, where are all the girls that I've been snaffling? ;)

Actually, I think "Army Card" is always capitalized. Sometimes the text just says "card", in which case it's not capitalized.

They do just normally say "card" if it is not capitalized, but I know Dund's card says "army card" and it is not capitalized. I can't think of any others right now.

yyyyeeeeaaaahhhhh...not biting on that one :p

Fact is the figs look great and have expanded the superhero lines greatly with solid customs giving the marvel crew plenty of units to play with. I prefer the custom work to the official stuff because I hate cheapening the official lines. Kind of like Monopoly...if I see one more version of Monopoly I may vomit. I would feel this way about things like Transformers and Gi joe perhaps as well unless it was presented as a different game all together. But making those customs and adding them feels more like creativity at work and less like trying to make a quick buck off existing licenses and thereby a lack of creativity and thoughtfulness.

So how do I feel about D&D...well it fits the world ok (better than many themes) and the design is pretty cool....but if I was offered the choice between the next wave being classic or the next wave being D&D its not hard to figure what I would say.

No not at all. Truth just did what he always does, whatever is best for the site. There is no reason for our little custom project to ever put a strain on this site. If we have to, we could end up moving to one of our own sites/forums to do all of our work and then keep just a couple of active threads here for discussion and Books Of. So basically, instead of the Heroes working secretly on this site, they would be working on a different one, and still sharing over here. It is just an Idea. :reapershrug:
