Star Trek I am thinking (and hoping) is ship based, not figs. I love the Star Trek universe, but honestly, there is not enough variation in the characters combat styles to make it super intersting. Although I do admit I'd love a Spock/Kirk/Picard/Riker...Aw, who am I kidding, I'd buy up everything, including Harry Mudd. :p But I'd still rather have ships.

Trek ship combat game would be cool. But don't forget what the characters would bring to the table: phasers, tricorders (recon), transporters, nerve pinches, mind melds, Kirk's cowboy mentality, Picard's strategic cowboy mentality, Klingon melee squads, Romulan treachery... could make for some interesting Heroscape figures.

Edit: Harry Mudd's Tribble Special Attack, hmmm....

Tribble Squad: Has rebirth power of doubling all figures after each round, but you only need to draft one squad and the power can go on forever with no limit to the number of tribbles other than the number of spaces on the board!

But has Defense:0, Attack:1, Move: 2, and Size: 1 (Climbing x 4) to compensate - but still you would have massive board control and the game would never end.

(Note to self) Watch for Tribbles and be ready with a custom mechanic they can take out lots of figures in 1 shot. Honestly I'd hate to see Tribbles in Scape, way to big a chance of them getting out of control.

There should at least be a dice roll to reproduce. Not only for game balance, but they needed and adequite food supply to reproduce. On Star Trek everyone was just feeding them, and then they found their way into the grains and replicators.

The Jonah Hex pack is a 3 pack, like the Iron Man packs, but it's 3 original figures, not just reprints.

It looks like it might be these figures (http://www.toywiz.com/heroclixbrightestday.html) Bats. I'm not totaly sure, but this whatI turned up and I don't reconize the Martian Manhunter figure from any other set.

IAmBatman
July 19th, 2010, 10:03 PM
Deadman, Osiris, Cap'n Boomerang, Hawkgirl, Martian Manhunter, Firestorm, and Aquaman. Yep, that follows the storyline all right. Too bad I pretty much have all of those characters other than Osiris in a different mini already.

They need to make some more Lanterns for the other Corps. Then we could have a multi-player scape game with each person using a different Corps.

It's a crime that we don't have Atrocitus, Larfleeze, or Saint Walker yet.

July 19th, 2010, 10:23 PM
Or even a figure we can just use for a uncommon, like some no name Lantern, preferably one that isn't shooting him/her self in the head with their own ring:headshake:. Is there a way to make suggestions to Wizkids on figures we think they should make? Maybe then I wouldn't have to make my own Amalgam figs;)

IAmBatman
July 19th, 2010, 10:26 PM
There are so many unique figs out there for GLs, though, I'm not sure we really need an uncommon GL. I kind of like all the GLs being "named" figures.

I meant for the other light spectrums Bats. We need a no name figure for Red, Black, Blue, and Indigo. I left out Orange since from what I understand, there were only 2 of them, and that only briefly since Lex lost his ring.

IAmBatman

Well, for Orange, we really need some of his constructs, so a common orange construct would be great.

A Orange Construct would be great. I think I might go hunting for a usable one online. I think I might get two Hal's and paint one red and find a jet to paint red to use as the construct he made. I think having a Hal for the various Corps we wound up being a part of.

The Brightest Day figures look kind of "different". Martian Manhunter is half-Black Lantern, Aquaman is riding a tentacle, it just seems different. Oh, and those Lanterens you were talking about can easily be developed here (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=31428) if we find suitable figures. And I am bummed that there isn't a Larfreeze figure yet, since he is the only lasting Orange Lantern.

Yeah, I like the Doomsday, and the White Lanterns aren't bad, but... Bane breaking Batman? Wonder Woman on a horse? Superman with a bald eagle and a giant Captain America shield? Odd choices.

And I really hope that's not Sgt. Rock. It's not nearly badass enough to be Sgt. Rock.

Wow Griff, your just being plain bad tonight:lol: I agree though that he would have to take falling damage, and no 20-sided die roll for extreme falling, that pole would come out his head, so its an automatic destroy figure.

Arsepole would be... interesting, but looking closely at the mini I'll bet that the pole is holding up Superman's tattered cape. Like this:

To anyone who cares, a friend of mine stalks wizkids somewhat obsessively, and there are classics packs planned which will have the following themes:
Halo (spartan battle packs)
X-Men (Danger Room reprints)
Superman
Batman
Avengers

And there is also a halo pack which will have the entire noble team in it. I think there are new warthogs planned too.

Master Tang
September 20th, 2010, 12:29 PM
The Batman packs are already out.

There are 3 3-packs and a 6 pack I believe.

A danger room reprint would be sweet. The sculpts in there were some of the finest X-men sculpts to date, especially for Angel and beast.

The Halo packs are out as well. 2 3 packs with 2 spartans and see through Covenant Elite in each, and a 6 pack of new sculpts from Halo Reach.

Much much MUCH big news on the HeroClix front.

First things first, more confirmations about DC75. HERE (http://www.heroclixworld.com/hcw/Articles.aspx?ID=224A&P=3) is a page with some pictures of new figures. Those we haven't seen confirmed beforehand are...

Beast Boy
Beast Boy (T-Rex Version)
Alan Scott
Star Sapphire
Sinestro (Hopefully cheaper than the current version!)
Saint Walker
Isis
Easy Company Soldier
Detective Chimp
Mr. Terrific

...and lots others I don't quite recognize. Looks pretty nice, in any case. Due out next month, but they tend to fall behind on these kinds of things, so, expect December.

Hopefully that's enough time for our friends at C3G to consider figure choices for some of their upcoming cards (*coughSinestroandJohncough*).

Secondly, the next Marvel set has been announced - Giant Sized X-Men! And Giant most certainly... there'll be a new type of booster, a "Super Booster," which seems to be MUCH bigger than the average booster pack and is likely to contain at least one Colossal figure. Figures I've seen mentioned include Sentinels (cheap and plentiful!?) and Apocalypse, who even has a prototype on display! CHECK IT OUT! (http://www.heroclixworld.com/hcw/Articles.aspx?ID=245)

Evidently, these Super Boosters have 8 Giant figures of the aforementioned size along with some smaller-but-still-big-and-fancy ones; I believe a Wolverine/Colossus Fastball Special sculpt was mentioned, but, not certain. Also, Nextwave will be in, so, rejoice. Slated for a March release.

And, finally, the one I personally am most excited for - Street Fighter HeroClix! Anyone else interested in "HeroScape - Blood on the Streets" project?

Not painted, so we don't know. However conjecture is that he is half and half. Also, that pic also has Scar and Sgt. Rock and I believe that last one is either Indigo-1 or Starman. Here is Guy (unpainted), John, and Crimson Avenger; Wonder Twins; and Atrocitus.
http://i728.photobucket.com/albums/ww285/zanyaggie/Guy.jpghttp://i728.photobucket.com/albums/ww285/zanyaggie/DC_02.jpghttp://i728.photobucket.com/albums/ww285/zanyaggie/WonderTwins.jpghttp://i728.photobucket.com/albums/ww285/zanyaggie/Atrocitus.jpg

Also, Giant-Size X-Men will have Sentinel Re-Release, and a new BIBTB Madrox figure (probably multiple guys on the same base). Most exciting is that Apocalypse looks like he will have a Jean Grey Phoenix in his hands. Can you say "remove her?"

Here is a picture from the same set of DC 75 which is not featured on that webpage. From this you can tell Sinestro has a giant yellow mace coming from his ring and a lantern in his other hand. Also you can see there IS an Indigo-1, Sargon the Sorcerer is the guy in the suit with a yellow turban next to her (they are both next to GL Alan) and that the final piece is a character I do not know, I thought it was Starman, but the staff is not the Cosmic Rod or Gravity Rod he used.

Commissioner Gordon

Batman vs. Two-Face Battle Pack

Is the $3 one from Armor Wars? If so, it is way better than the other, however it is an outfit from the House of M story and not her iconic look.

Yeah, that one. I don't mind about the costume, since I don't care for her regular look that much anyway. But I'm probably going to wait and see how this new one looks. Do we know a release for this set, yet?

NEXTWAVE (http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg232/eaglezrulle/DSC00140.jpg?t=1287275105) (with Elsa Bloodstone and The Captain) and MUTANTS (http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg232/eaglezrulle/DSC00139.jpg?t=1287275105) (with Iceman, Magneto, and Armor).

LOVING that Magneto sculpt. Probably going to end up ridiculously expensive, though. And with Armor, I'll continue to hold out hope we get Dust...

Oh, and THIS GUY (http://www.thelittleshopofheroes.com/andy/index.html) has a BUNCH of high quality pictures of DC75 from that same event; nothing new, but a good look at a lot of the figures.

But beware, they are EXTREMELY high quality. Clicking that link crashed my internet because it took so long to load. Tread carefully.

With this, we can confirm the rarities of a lot of the figures.

Also, the formeerly hard to find Alfred and Commissioner Gordon have been re-released in a Batman Classix Battle Pack.

I keep hearing that, and Gordon is confirmed, but, is there any evidence of Alfred? Troll and Toad lists the following:

Batman vs. Joker Battle Pack
Batman
The Joker
Commissioner Gordon

Batman vs. Two-Face Battle Pack
Batman
Two-Face
The Penguin

Arkham Asylum Escape Mega Battle Pack
Batman
Robin
The Joker
Bane
Scarecrow
Mr. Freeze

I don't see any listing for Alfred anywhere.
I got the one with two-face and Penguin a few days ago and on the back of the box it says that the third one has Batman, Batgirl and Alfred. I'm going to see if I can get the shop to order one for me since they didn't have it at the time.

Street Fighter HeroClix, a Music based Clix game (first set is iron maiden, it seems) and "Giant Sized X-Men" as the new heroclix set, with more sentinels and new colossals. (One big booster in each whole brick, which either has a team of high quality figures, or one of seven "giant" figures.)

Rare Heroclix aren't really that Rare. If you buy a case of Heroclix you will get nearly all of them. They come about 15 to a case, Commons are about 40 to case, Uncommons about 24 or so, and you will get anywhere from 2-4 Super-rares per Brick. At the comic store two weekends ago, the same brick yielded Cosmic Spider-Man, Green Goblin, Spot, and Mysterio; all Super-rares. The GG and CSM were pulled by the same person. She bought two boosters and each had one.

They've got an official, high-quality shot of SAINT WALKER (http://wizkidsgames.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Saint_Walker_040.jpg) up on the HeroClix website. Sculpt doesn't look half bad, which I'm relieved about, as Brightest Day seems rather... subpar, to be honest. I mean, look at OSIRIS (http://wizkidsgames.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/osiris_cropped.jpg). And that's their publicity shot.

They've got CRIMSON AVENGER (http://wizkidsgames.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Crimson_Avenger_008.jpg), too, if you haven't seen him yet. And DC75's new release date is now officially December 15th, too. Just a month or so away...

Cool! I've been thinking about an Oracle, too, but I figure I'll leave her to you guys to design. I just really don't want her to be a Prof. X clone. Batman worked fine on his own without her, she just helps a little bit, so I'd prefer her giving a small bonus, like an initiative or something.

Woot! I don't know him either, but apparently his first appearence is in "More fun Comics #71"...what an odd comic to star in...

Everything was a bit odd in the 1940s. Just ask Matt Helm. ;)

With as hard as historical figures are to find, prepainted, plastic, and in the right scale, I think these are a total boon. :-)It's a shame the Axis and Allies miniatures are goblin-sized (18mm scale), because there's a ton of variety available and they're cheap. It was pretty devastating when I found evidence of their scale (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/110311/axis-allies-miniatures).

I agree, I felt the same way about Axis & Allies miniatures. And I heard they were closer to 15mm, even.

Yeah, but those are so freaking cool on HS hexes. To me that would be cool just to have WWII set for HS. Cards, rules etc. But that's not going to happen.

I used to play 15mm WWII, American Civil War and Ancients nearly 30 years ago when they were all lead and we had to prime and paint them all.

GreyOwl
November 17th, 2010, 09:18 PM
I've seriously considered using Axis & Allies minis and making some rules for HS terrain. Especially with allowing more than one unit per hex. I may have to get on that one of these days.

Are the figures expensive?

Ha! Fantastic! They seem melee, which is a bit too bad (though an "Elite City Enforcers" squad or something using AT-43 sculpts would be cool), but... considering how excited I am for the C3G Gorilla Faction, I can't wait. :D

I started working on the cast of Firefly. Mal, Zoe, Jayne and River.

I can't think of any off the top of my head - maybe a cowboy, either from 'Scape or from 'Clix, for Mal? Tough to find "space western" style characters. Oh, maybe Runaway (http://www.trollandtoad.com/p144682.html) from Horrorclix for River... that's who the figure reminds me of, at least.

Anyways, twofold update today. First of all - Beast Boy! In Human (http://wizkidsgames.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Beast-boy-014.jpg), Bear (http://wizkidsgames.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Beast-boy-Bear-015.jpg), Cheetah (http://wizkidsgames.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Beast-boy-cheetah-0161.jpg), and T-Rex (http://wizkidsgames.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Beast-boy-trex-055.jpg) form! Definitely something I'd be interesting in making a unit for... a vanilla Beast Boy, and a different card for all forms.

Now, for some GIANT-SIZED X-MEN BABY! There's a FLYER (http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/5889/flyerpx.jpg) with a bunch of new units and details on it. You can see the Sentinel that we're likely to see in the Super Boosters, at least. The same e-mail being sent out with this flyer has the following bit of message:

The Giant-Size X-Men set is so huge that we had to design a completely new type of blind booster, the Super Booster, to hold the Giant figures that are a part of this release such as iconic X-Men duo figures, the Horseman of the Apocalypse, Nemesis, Onslaught, and the Sentinels!

So that confirms the Horsemen, Nemesis/Holocaust, and Onslaught. Along with some duos. And, in addition, a solicitation was released, which has some other new details.

The X-Men burst onto the scene in this latest Heroclix expansion dedicated to Marvel’s “First Family” of mutants! Marvel Heroclix: Giant-Size X-Men features over 60 new collectible figures (55 new sculpts!) including characters from the X-Men’s long and impressive history.

That’s right, longtime favorites like Magneto, Wolverine, the Hellions, and Stryfe will soon be battling it out on the tabletops. And popular characters like the Mindless Ones and Next Wave will make their first Heroclix appearance in Giant- Size X-Men!

Plus, look for six exciting, new colossal figures found in “super boosters” unique to this set! Finally, fans will be able to recreate epic battles between their favorite heroes and titanic villains such as Apocalypse and the all-new Sentinel MK V!

So that's a confirmation for the Hellions, Stryfe, the Mindless Ones, and the Sentinel MK V. I imagine the MK V will simply be a repaint of the other Sentinel.

So, that's a confirmation of two Sentinels, Holocaust, and Onslaught for Colossals. Add in Apocalypse, and that's all six, along with other special groupings like Horsemen and X-Men Duos, for others.

That's what I thought, too!

And even though the Cheetah doesn't look great, it now gives us some good options for a Beast Boy design! For being a not incredibly powerful character, he's going to turn out real complex, I bet, haha!

So, it seems some people have gotten DC75 early. I can't say 100% this is accurate... but the guy has pictures of the figures, the cards, the dials, all that, so I'd trust his word on it.

* The fancy "White Lantern" version of characters are actually repaints of their basic forms. For example, there's a White Lantern Hal Jordan, but there's also a Green Lantern Hal Jordan with the same sculpt.

SUPER RARES
Ares
Superman (Golden Age Sculpt)
Batman (Golden Age Sculpt)
Wonder Woman (Golden Age Sculpt)
Wonder Twins
Doomsday
Bane
Green Lantern (Alan Scott)
Hal Jordan (White Lantern Repaint)*
Sinestro
T-Rex Beast Boy
Barry Allen (White Lantern Repaint)*

RARES
Larfleeze
Saint Walker
Indigo 1
Carol Ferris
Mongul (Sinestro Corps I believe)
Atrocitus
Scar
Ganthet
John Stewart
Kyle Rayner
Guy Gardner (Red Lantern)

NOTABLE UNCOMMONS
Aquaman (Brightest Day Sculpt)
Osiris (Brightest Day Sculpt)
Batman
Wonder Woman (White Lantern Repaint)*
Superman (White Lantern Repaint)*
Bart Allen (White Lantern Repaint)*
Green Arrow (White Lantern Repaint)*
Donna Troy (White Lantern Repaint)*
Superboy (White Lantern Repaint)*

I'm glad the Super Rares are mostly gimmick sculpts. Nothing entirely necessary there ('cept for Sinestro...).

EDIT: Oh, and here's a picture of the Lantern Corps leaders... and Hal.

Yeah, I am with you on them outside of Atrocitus. A little bit of most of the Corps goes a long way (and that goes for all of them but Yellow, Green, and Orange for me). But I do think Atrocitus can have really fun gameplay and I think that having at least one "rep" for each of the color spectrum is a must have for my personal "bucket list."

Well, for Star Wars, it was all about the movies. I read a TON of the books, but only when the movies were still around. Now that they're done, there's nothing to look forward to anymore, so I'm hardly a Star Wars fan anymore. :p

The New Jedi Order series really expanded the Universe and had an awesome plot. Aliens from outside the Universe invaded, with organic technology and weapon. 8)

I know, I read that entire series, and the series after with, with Darth Caedus. Loved 'em both. But I lost interest because there were no more movies to look forward to...

But NJO would be my second choice. ;)

I've never touched a Harry Potter or Star Wars book, but I've seen all the movies.

 You have to read Harry Potter, they are some of my favorite books ever. The movies are good, but the books are amazing. Plus you won't have to wait to see what happens in Harry Potter 7 part 2.

I've read tons of Star Wars novels, I've read the New Jedi Order, Legacy of the Force, and Fate of the Jedi series in their entirety, and various other books and mini-series in the Star Wars Univerise. Honestly, you can't call yourself a Star Wars fan if you haven't read them.

Harry Potter's a good read, but the story sucks so much I couldn't bring myself to even pick up the last one.... :p

Any new Star Wars movies would rock. But you can't ever let Star Wars die, it just might be the best movie series ever.

I guess you could argue about best movie series, but hardly best movie. :p

Yeah, I figure that when the character I hate the most in the book is the main character, the books must be doing something wrong. :p

They actually get a lot better - darker and more geared toward adults as they progress. I agree the first two were very similar, I can never remember what events happened in which book. But they definitelyl do become much more distinct in the later books.

I can see that, though he IS a teenager. :p As he gets older, especiallly in the last 2-3 books, he gets a lot better. Once he stops whining and decides to use his power, it gets pretty good.

I've read all but the last book, and I could never shake the strong feeling that he was just an idiot. At first he just broke rules, which made me want him to be kicked out of his school. But by the end, he broke rules and made dumb mistakes that got people killed, and broke laws and stuff, and he still wasn't jailed for life, much less kicked out of school. :p I know, I know, you don't have a story then, but how can he get away with everything without ever being punished? :p

But back to HeroClix - two bits of news and some pictures.

A) The Free Comic Book Day figure has been announced - "Green Lantern." Only question is which Green Lantern. Hal is a likely choice, but there's a lot of campaigning for Kilowog, Tomar-Re... and a few others. I mean, War Machine was last year's, so a supporting character isn't out of line.

B) A picture of the other type of Sentinel for Giant-Sized X-Men. SEE HERE (http://www.ikoncollectables.com.au/images/GSX_Package_02_2.jpg).

And these are pictures of 99% of DC75 figures. They're about a week old, but... eh... didn't feel like posting them before. Thanks to phantalien for doing the gruntwork and reposting them to photobucket.

I watched it this summer for the first time, and it was horrible! It was SO incredibly stupid! I mean, I know Jones movies are generally cheesy, but this one was so bad it wasn't funny! By far the worst in the series...

If Last Crusade were a Captain America movie, it might be the greatest movie of all time with all the nazi-whooping going on! That plot, level of actors, and great action, it would definately have set the bar for comic movies! As it was it is one of the greatest of all time, IMO.
