I've decide to post some of my Luo GuanZhong Customs since I am a big fan of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

The Shu Kingdom

Here are the ruler, strategist, and five best generals (the five tigers). I will be doing the same for Wei and Wu once I get the time to make them.

Wow... A lot of work there.

1) What figures would you use for these cards?

2) I'd advise maybe turning the 5 tiger generals (or 4 of them anyway) into a unique squad. Theres just way too many unique heroes to justify drafting all of them in an army. Too expensive I think for not enough force.

3) Liu Bei's Charismatic leader power is too much OR the character is underpriced. Its a great power ive tried to work on myself, and I think youve done a good job of it, however, its a VERY big advantage - you have a 25% chance of 2 free squads of Omnicrons, and have a 50% chance *something* free.

4) "Sleeping Dragon" is too powerful. Maybe on a d20 roll or when a wound is caused or somesuch, you could see a particular turn marker, but not all of them all the time!

Dont get me wrong, I respect the work youve put in, and there are some genuinely great ideas there... I think theres some refinement necessary though. I'll try and give a more specific commentary in a while...

Just giving followup feedback - these are not balanced.

Love the theme, and appreciate the knowledge of these characters you bring into HS, but they are not balanced points wise.

Zhuge Liang is actually the most problematic of them all - just spend 80 points, plop in the back of your army, and reap the benefits of this way-more-beneficial than Su-Bak-Na unit.
Based on official HS figures, he alone could probably be costed more than 250 points.

Giving the other units +1 for each Tiger guy is overpowering - that makes their normal attacks 8 and 9 dice each, right?

Nice work.......i like the 3 kingdoms as well...maybe you can incoporate some of the generals weapons as special powers dunno just a thought.

This isn't so much as a balanced card custom thread, but more of incorportating the personalities of these generals into heroscape. If you read the cards each general has one ability that is unique to who they were during their lifetime.

As far as Zhuge Liang is concerned, he is THE strategist if not the best strategist of all time. He knew everything about everyone and always beat his oppents by knowing what they were going to do. His powers are perfect for reflecting who Zhuge Liang was. He was the guy everybody wanted on their side.

Maybe these guys are too undcosted, but then again if you have all these guys in your army all you have is seven heroes against 800 pts of mostly squads. Think of how they would fair against 800 pts of 4th mass or minions with Taelord.

On Hq they were costed much more at 120 per guy and everyone said they were too overcosted. There has to be a happy medium. After enough comments I'll make the Wei Kingdom.

Dude O.o nice job. i like all of them ^_^ ive played Romance the Kingdom only once and it was realy fun... but im more of a Jak n Daxter kinda guy.

i still think your point value is under par... but like ya said, a 800 team of 7 versus like 20 <.< maybe even more if the oponent knows how to build a strong team vs yours.

i know everyone says my customs seem to be over powering but ive lost more than i have won... so i think its in the game that you will find out if your characters are truely "too powerful".

so far ive learned that i realy love stratagy games, but Smurf at playing them >.<

battleon dude!

It seems that two or so people have actually posted about my Luo GuanZhong customs. Either they are bad or nobody cares. But since Chinese Warlords need troops here ya go.

Either they are bad or nobody cares.Possibly, an important factor is how you say:
This isn't so much as a balanced card custom thread, but more of incorportating the personalities of these generals into heroscape. If you read the cards each general has one ability that is unique to who they were during their lifetime.

So, if we tell you how they're unbalanced or their powers either game-breaking or phrased so they allow some kind of unforethought cheat, it's expected you'll find this perfectly irrelevant (as you clearly have on HQ).

Thus, apart from discussing the personalities of the Chinese generals as presented in San Guo Yan Yi, which is honestly subject matter for another forum, or the correlation (or lack thereof) between the heroes in the novel and your HS cards (which most, and I really mean most-most, users will have no clue about), there isn't much to be said here.

Well, of course, one could complain about how their MUSOU power isn't accurately represented, or how they prefer the character in either iteration of the game, all the while mixing the Japanese and US numbers. If you want that kind of feedback.

As far as I'm concerned (and I'm likely to be one of the rare North American users who owns an unabridged copy of the novel), the most this thread can inspire me to do, in its current incarnation, is make up my own, blanced version of the generals and post them to my own thread, because if I want to play a game with the Wu/Shu/Wei generals in it, I can't very well use those.

I have to agree with AS. I was fully prepared to critique and praise your cards, but as you made it clear it didnt really matter what anyone else thought or said, I figured there wasn't much point.

Don't take it hard. Maybe try some other customs where you feel you are open to debate on their balance and abilities; you will find people more prone to discuss matters then.
