I used to feel the same way as Griffin, but then I tried some of the WorldWorks stuff and built it using foamcore, and it works great!
Foamcore?
It's styrofoam sandwiched between two pieces of cardstock. It looks like this:
http://www.artsupply.com/assets/images/black_gatorboard.jpg
You print out the paper models, glue them to the foamcore, and then cut them out and assemble them. You have to make some adjustments when assembling due to it having thickness, but for the most part it's pretty simple. And the end result is quite durable and sturdy. I've made skyscrapers out of the stuff that stand 3 feet tall, and they support huge figures (like Heroclix Galactus) with no problem.
Are you sure you made them and not the carpenter wife of yours :p
That foamcore sounds really cool, I'd love to try to do something like that sometime, but don't have the time at the moment.

Yeah, I'm too "unit oriented" right now. Some day I hope to get down to the nitty gritty of some skyscrapers, though.

Yep, I made them. She has no interest in gaming. But she did confiscate all the foamcore tools and excess foamcore when I was done for her arts & crafts and scrapbooking projects.
There's a company called Framing4Yourself (http://www.framing4yourself.com/shop/products/foam-board-cutting-tools/) that sells tools designed for cutting foamcore. If you plan on doing more than just a couple of buildings, I highly recommend buying them. Foamcore dulls normal X-acto blades extremely quickly, and your fingers will hurt without the proper tools.

This is an early piece of terrain I did with foamcore.
I should mention that if the color looks odd it's because I printed the main building in black and white on yellow cardstock. No color printer was in my possesion at the time. The Color Details were printed on a 4x6 glossy sheet for $.19 at the local 1 hour photo

Man I hate to say it, but it looks like another Hollywood flop before it even started... They are screwing with the origin story again, that much is obvious based on all of the ages of the actors/characters, and they are hiring a lot of no talent models that think they can act... this sucks for me.

And, yeah, X-Men movies seemed great when the only other superhero movies that had been out recently were that run of Burton/Schumacher Batman movies and Spider-Man. Now, after the market has been flooded with higher quality superhero movies, the whole lot of them is hovering at slightly better than Daredevil levels.

I know its not really worth adding it to my collection, but I figure that if I have Daredevil, I may as well addthis one to;) With all the movies DC is putting out I think I'm going tostart getting those also. Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Batman Beyond The Return of the Joker (uncut version)
SuperMan/Batman Public Enemies
Batman Mask of the Phantasm
Batman (Tim Burton's first... they should have stopped there)
Batman: Dead End (fan film)

World's Finest (another fan film preview and a possible sequal to Dead End)
-------------------------------- The line of multiple viewings
Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman
Batman/Mr Freeze Sub-Zero
-------------------------------- The line of watchability
Gotham Knights (too many dark overdone, uninteresting anime type shorts)
Batman Returns

Batman & Robin (I don't think I ever sat through the whole thing... too painful)

That is awesome. I was 7 when my Dad taught me how to ride a bike. I think I was a bit behind, but I learned quickly and had an absolute blast that summer. Ahhh memories. :D

Yeah, it looks like it might have some pretty "mature themes." I mean, we know there'll be at least one death at the beginning.

I was afraid that it wouldn't be appropriate. I never let him watch Gotham Knights but most of the other cartoons including Wonder Woman (the beheading scenes caused a minor bit of concern) and the way too bloody Hulk vs. Wolverine were viewed by him. Luckily, he's cool enough about it that he knows they were a bit too mature for him and understands that they don't get viewed again until he's older.

It's out Down Under?!?!?! When does it come out in the States, and is is appropriate for my 7 yr old?... who learned how to ride a 2 wheeler today in about 15 minutes... and then stayed up 'til midnight with intense interest in the Mets game with me. Dad was very proud of him today.
To your first question no, but we keep that quiet ;). To the second question part a) I think it must be :D. Part B, that is hard to say, there are a couple of graphic beatings the main one being near the start when the Joker is laying into Jason but for the most it would be fine. I'll probably let my boy watch it as he has a pretty good sense of what's on TV isn't real.
Edit: I didn't think it was as bad as Hulk v Wolverine or Wonder Woman though.
Cheers

My guy did like Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker but he's only seen the watered down edited version. And even that he found had creepy parts.
I think I'll view it first and then actually fast forward through a scene or two as needed when letting him watch. I really wish I did that with Hulk vs Wolverine.

Yeah, but so did The Dark Knight, and they put Joker toys from that into cereal boxes. So I guess one's mileage would vary on whether or not it's appropriate.
My two cents, though, based on what I know (and based on past DC DTVs) I'd put Under the Red Hood in the same range as Hulk Vs. - 12+, more or less. Of course, my younger sister watched Hulk vs. Wolverine with me when she was 9 or so and absolutely loved it... but, then again, she's been watching The Simpsons since before she could talk...
...so, again, your mileage may vary.

The part that made me made about Hulk vs. was that the Thor cartoon was perfectly fine. One scene where Hulk was raging on him, Thor's face got a little bloodied but nothing too bad. Just a good old fashion comic slugfest.
The Wolverine movie was an absolute blood fest though and made me feel sooooo guilty because he was only 6 at the time.

I'm really excited about the release of Under the Red Hood. Winnick should be the only one allowed to touch Todd. I really hope Morrisons Red Hair/receeding hairline hood was one of those things like the tatoo'ed up riddler I heard about. something that happened once, and afterwards it goes back to normal and everyone pretends it never happened. I've read spoiler reviews from people that watched it illegally, so i have a pretty good idea of what happens, and I wont have a problem with my kids watching an animated version of something me and my buddies already filmed a live action version of.

Oye, I guess I'm just not on the same page as you today, cuz I'm not loving the idea of an Uncommon for the GLs. For the YLs they only have about four figures total, so an Uncommon was really needed, but the GLs have tons of unique hero worthy sculpts out there ... I'm just not sure they need that type of unit.
I guess if someone really wants to make it, though, and there's support for it, I won't stand in the way. Just not something that really meets my personal vision of the GL Corps.
No ideas for good minis, unfortunately - their figures all tend to be really expensive, and there's nothing out there I can think of that I'd be willing to buy multiples of at the prices they come at.

lol, so we'd have the GL Uncommon and the YL Uncommon coming from the same planet? Quite a hotbed of Lantern activity, that Korugar. I'd prefer we went with a different planet (and didn't require a repaint for a figure we'd be asking for multiples of).

It's not completely relevant until someone actually requests to do a thread with them, but something that's clearly going to be a subject we'll need to figure out for the future. I'm fine with taking the conversation private, but, honestly, my only perspective is I don't think this is the ideal path, but if someone really wants to go there, I don't think my having that opinion alone should stand in the way.

I saw a demo of DC Universe Online at Comic Con and I have to say that I'm not 100% sold.
The demo I saw was a 4 player - 2 team slugfest between Batman and Nightwing vs Joker and Harley. Each person got to play as one of the 4 characters and fight the other team.
Pros:
The graphics looked great and it had a nice comicbook feel.
The attacks the characters had were very similar to what I would expect them to be attacking with. Batman punched and used Bat-a-rangs, Nightwing attacked with his sticks, Joker and Harley used a bunch of gadgets.
The animation flowed very well.Cons:
Combat.
When Batman punched someone, there was always a streak or flash of color. Sometimes it was hard to see what was going on because of how flashy the attacks were.
Maybe it seemed monotonus because we kept seeing the same figures fight over and over, but there were only about 6 attacks that each figure did. This could very well just be because of the demo, though.
The attacking was very action based. In many MMO's, an attack doesn't occur unless there is someone there to attack. In DCU, you attacked regardless of target. This will lead to eventual issues where connection speed will determine how effective you are in combat.
It was hard to tell if an attack actually landed on the intended recipient. Often times, Batman and Harley would just walk up to one another and just continually punch each other. Neither character ever acted through animation as though they were ever hit. If I remember correctly, they flashed a color (red or white, I think) when they were hit, but it was hard to tell because of all the other flashy moves going on.
The speed at which the figures attacked was too fast. Punches and gadgets were happening so fast it was hard to see what was going on.Unfortunately, all I really got to see in the demo was combat and I was a bit disappointed. It was all so odd that they let you play as these major characters since you won't get to when the game is released. You create your own superhero from scratch in the game. I'm hoping the story is enough to carry the game, because I'm not impressed with the combat.

They seem to have done a great job with the visuals and voices... so that is a big start. I am kinda afraid of the whole "punch button smash" fighting mechanics though, because if that is the extent of the fighting system, the game will lose millions.

I just read that they dumbed down the fighting system considerably so that they could fit the game into the PS3 platform. They therefore needed to reduce the number of abilities that could be used at one time because of the limited number of buttons available on the PS3 controller.
On the other hand, they did get the famous voice actors for Batman and Joker. (Yay for Mark Hammil!!!!)

That Terminator esq story might be a good way to even do a live action JLA movie. With CGI being what it is, I think they could pull it off - maybe give it a Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow type of look.

He is the best of the best, and he happens to be the standard of which all heroes hold themselves to, including that pointy eared vigilante. In fact, Batman said that Superman is the best of "us" referring to the Heroes of their time, and that he is more than a legend or a hero, he is a symbol of hope that each of us can look to to be inspired to be better people. So yeah... I'd say he is pretty good. Oh, and he flies while shooting F'ing fire from his eyes. :p

Already have been, not fun and lucky it was only for a few days.
OK, new question, what the heck was hidicul banned for?
It started when I found a post by Felindar that had spelling and grammer worse then I have ever posted, and he got jumped on about it. I asked what the big deal was about such strict spelling/grammer, this was back when I had first joined. My answer came in a neg rep signature. So then I asked why whoever sent the unsined rep couldn't have answered me in the thread since I was asking an honest question. To make a long story short, I did something rare for me which was lose my temper. I wound up blantly cuseing the invisable neg reper in the thread, then deleted all of the custom stuff I had posted and signed out. A couple of days latter I realized that in the short amount of time I had been a member, I enjoyed this site. So I went to log on to send a PM out to all the admins apologizing for my outburst, but couldn't. I was banned for about 4 days. After I was able to log back in I sent the apology letter to Truth. I wound up posting something a few days later and got hit with more neg rep for spelling. The manner in which it came made me think it was the same person as before, so I sent the post to Rev and explained what was going on. I had switched an i and an e in I think it was their. Rev told me to just ignore it when I got neg from that person, so until recently I have stayed off the oficial forums.

And just FYI, I believe Felindar said he has some type of learning disability, and that accounts for his grammatical and spelling mistakes. So it's not cool to make fun of it.

I can't believe you lost your temper due to some disrespectful poster. I am shocked by your behavior, and even though you apologized, you should be treated badly for it and someone should yell at you and call you names in a derogatory manor. OK, j/k. :p

YES! I was a tad worried about Thor initially - the release photos looked more campy than anything else - but man, that trailer put those fears to rest. The Destroyer looks a bit campy, but not bad by any means. Exactly what I was looking for.
Of course, Captain America is what I'm REALLY looking forward to.

I occasionally get onto Facebook, but only to catch up with people. I don't play any of those games or poke anyone (Now I get what you meant :D). I ignore any request for anything other than adding a new friend on occasion.
Haven't seen that Thor trailer.
But I did see the trailers for NHL 2011 for Xbox 360 and it looks freakin' awesome. I'll be getting that one in Sept.

DEATHWALKER 1970

I´m very happy/excited/OMG/:D that the Fantastic Four are being worked on! The Cosmic Quartet has always been my favourite superteam.
Based on what´s in the air, it´s time for some FF S (Frantic Fanboy Speculations!)
From the scenario maps requested by Griff, here´s some ideas, and hopes, for who´s gonna be in the set...
Baxter Building: City Streets
Could be anyone really, but my guess is Superskrull and common squads of Skrulls. Alternatively the Frightful Four would be a good fit, or even (yeah, I know that´s not going to happen :D ) everyone´s favourite devourer of planets... GALACTUS!
Subterania: Cave with a large water section
Moleman is right at home here, hopefully with common squads of moloids. And how about those big monsters he commands? There are a few classic Scape units that are usefull, and maybe something from the D&D miniatures line...
Latveria: Von Doom Castle
Doom is a given, but hopefullyhe´ll have common squads of Doombots to hurl at our haples heroes, maybe even an uncommon hero look-alike Dombot decoy...
Negative Zone:
Home of Annihilus. Unless he´s an awfully mean sucker, he might need an ally... Blastaar would fit right in.
Since She-Hulk is being worked on, I guess she´s in as a substitute for thing, but how about some of the other people who have taken turns on the team?
My favourites include Medusa and Crystal, but I beg you to stear clear of She-Thing!!!
Too bad that FF´s postman Willy Lumpkin, and Ben´s Aunt Petunia have never been made as figures, or they might have provided some fun...
Just kidding, but I think it´s a bit of a shame that Wyatt Wingfoot is not available to play around with... :(

Latveria: Von Doom Castle
Doom is a given, but hopefullyhe´ll have common squads of Doombots to hurl at our haples heroes, maybe even an uncommon hero look-alike Dombot decoy...
That's what I'm hoping for. Even a Common Hero - just the ability to roll the d20 when Dr. Doom dies (whoa alliteration man) and potentially swap him with one of your Doombots is vital, I think, assuming the Common Hero is in.
Let me take a shot at the roster...
HEROES
Mr. Fantastic
Invisible Woman
Human Torch
Thing
She-Hulk
???
VILLAINS
Dr. Doom
Mole Man
Annihilus
Super Skrull
Doombot/Doombots (Common Hero/Squad)
Moloids (Squad)
I figure there'll be a dozen units, as with World's Finest; ten heroes and a pair of squads. However, in order to have maximum villain-ness, I put both squads for the baddies - leaving one empty spot under the heroes. No idea what could fit there - maybe they're bucking the loose tradition put down and putting a third non-Unique unit, like SHIELD Agents? Or maybe there's a squad of Skrulls, making it five heroes vs. seven baddies. Huh. Considering the scenarios...
Baxter Building ~ FF vs. Skrulls
Subterrania ~ FF vs. Mole Man
Latveria ~ FF vs. Doom
Negative Zone ~ FF vs. Annihilus
Statue of Liberty ~ ???
And therein lies the problem. Maybe have, like, Thing kidnapped mid-scenario and put under mind control by Doom? Maybe a full-on Skrull invasion? Maybe a huge army of Doombots?
Bah, I dunno. Can't wait to see what they've come up with, though...

I just hope I can play this one - World's Finest's maps are a bit too heavy for me!
Johnny - one wrong, three missing. I'll let you agonize over that.
Hmm... Mole Man and the Moloids I'm nigh-certain of. The Four + She-Hulk are confirmed. Dr. Doom, too. Annihilus, well, you'd have to have him in the Negative Zone. That means... either no Super Skrull or no Doombots. MAYBE no Moloids, not entirely certain of that one.
Three missing... now THAT I'll have to think on. But if there's one wrong, and three missing, that's a total of 13 units. PROBABLY 6 v. 7. Five heroes + one good squad, four baddies + three bad squads?
In that case I'd have to guess FF, She-Hulk, and SHIELD for the Good, while there's Doom, Mole Man, Annihilus, and... Puppet Master, maybe? That'd be a cool choice. Along with Moloids, Doombots, and... huh. Not sure on the last one. Maybe just a generic Skrull squad? I could buy that. And I will buy that if it's released.
But I ramble...
...anyone hear about the new DC DTVs they announced? All-Star Superman and Batman: Year One? Good choices. Makes me wonder what Marvel's thinking... hopefully once they sort out this whole "being bought by Disney" thing they can get their heads in the animation game.
Of course it's still to late too save The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Yeah, too bad it's going to be CG animated. Same with the next Batman. I'm happy to see the color lanterns adopted into outside media, but... eh, I prefer 2D animation nine times out of ten. At least I'll have Young Justice.
Oh, and speaking of Red Lanterns, some molds (like the Wonder Twins) were seen at GenCon. Like THIS (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=95&pictureid=11348) one. I'm not sure if it's Atrocitus or not, but it seems to be a common thought... judge for yourselves.

Hey I'm not sure how many of you guys have heard about Cartoon Network's plan to put a Green Lantern animated tv series on, but they are and it's not going to be cannon with the movie because they plan on featuring a Red Lantern in the series. I'm not sure who, but just thought I would share some random info because this thread has been silent for a few days.
If we're getting Larfleeze AND Atrocitus, though, it'd just be mean to leave out the rest of the Lantern Head Dudes, y'know?
Mean and dumb. Hopefully Blackest Night will finally be completed.

I also believe there is goign to be a 2D Avengers animated series or something, that doesn't look too bad.
Also I think that is going to be Atrocitus, I also heard that they will be making a Guy Gardner Heroclix. (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=95&pictureid=11349)

Both of which I have no doubt about. I am pretty sure they got a TON of backlash for not including those guys in the B&tB set. They will also be doing some GA stuff, I have my fingers crossed for an Al Pratt GA Atom. JSA just isn't complete with out old Al. And original Mr. Terrific! BTW, that looks just like Atrocitus, Guy I am not so sure about, I am super psyched!

There's a movie?
Finally some love for the other corps! That goes with the 2 White Lantern figures in the DC 75th Anniversary set.

Ummm, they have confirmed at least 3 white lanterns: Hal, Sinestro, and Green Arrow. I imagine a version of each of the Brightest Day Starter set figures made into White Lanterns is apossibility as well.

Now I'm really confused. First off, white isn't even in the spectrum (so I know nothing about it) and second, why is Hal, Sinestro, and Green Arrow white lanterns?

My living room now has a fresh coat of paint, a new hardwood floor, and a ceiling fan, but work now blocks access to the Heroscapers forums.
So essentially, I have time to get on the boards again, but a 9 hour window without access :(

My new Avatar is Mr. Anonymous. He's a M&M/DC Adventures RPG character of mine. Think Dr. Manhattan, but not as powerful.
The model is converted from a Brave and the Bold Bruce Wayne. I made a paper miniature of him because one of his abilities allows him to make duplicates of himself, and I really didn't want to try and convert multiple figures and keep them looking identical.

He's just fine from what I've heard. :-) He's just wanting to spend a little more time with family at the moment (the fact that he just moved to a new house might also be involved).
But, yeah, you can't say enough about how awesome GreyOwl is. I hope to see him and his mad skillz back in full swing soon.

Good eye.
No relation really. The Batman was an animated Gif, but it didn't move while it was my avatar do I replaced it with something a little more personal.
Or ... um ... General Glory! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Genglory.png)

MM was created in the 50's. Harley was the first DC comic character to be created for another form of media (Batman: the Animated Series) than comics and make the transition to comics.
None. I know all these and then some. In fact, I will tell you there is at least one unit drafted that, other than the drafter, I was the only one familiar with her. ;)

For me? I was UNFAMILIAR with Bob and Count Vertigo. I knew/know OF both of them, names and powers and such, but only in a very vague general sense.
I had never heard of Arkillo or Amon Sur (the figure used for the Sinestro Corps Soldier) before buying the HeroClix for them. I did know about the Sinestro Corps, though.
Oh, and Harley Quinn should be known by EVERYONE. Batman: The Animated Series is required watching for anyone ever.

Yeah, according to Wikipedia, Harley was created in the 90s and MM didn't get popular until the 90s.
