Isn't Bizarro close enough? Or Zod, for that matter ... ?
By the way, loved all those "How it should have ended" clips! :-) I showed a bunch to my fiancee.

Not sure if everyone saw this (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=30298)

Any C3G member is invited of course and if you have to travel and want to come, I can assure you a place to stay for the night (either day before or after). Appleton does have an airport within a few miles of the store and my house. Just thought I would let ya'll know (*cough* Hahma, it's only 4 hours and change)

Looking forward to it!

Or Superman/Superboy Prime would be close enough lol.

I also love the HISHE clips. The Iron Man one made me crack up. "Tank Missile!".

Hey all. How big is Onslaught supposed to be anyway? I got the Handful of heros mini. He is of course the same size as a regular person. I was thinking he would make a cool custom. If the size is way off I won't bother though.

Also, Whats up with the Bunny slippers on Professor hulk?

Can I make a suggestion/request for the C3G Book Of Pages? While I am certain you use certain Heroclix due to having them or liking the style better, is there anyway you can make the list on each character a bit more comprehensive?

For Example:
Cyclops
Figure Used - Heroclix Universe 103-105, Infinity Challenge 082-084
Alternative Figures - Mutations & Monsters 002 023 123, Ultimates 062-064, Danger Room 001

I think this allows for people to select the figure they most enjoy to represent their character. While it isn't too hard to dig them all up, it'd still be handy IMO.

I don't have it readily available, but it can be found by simply searching for that figure. I use Troll and Toads website to develop that list, but I don't think their site is complete, and as I am not a Heroclix player, I don't know of any fan sites with a searchable database.

Looks like that site is gone.

Spidey, do we need this to go through an official C3G vote to get alternative figures in the Books or should I just post them in each Book and someone will update them?

I don't think this is a good idea, honestly, just because we're likely to do multiple versions of cards which would necessitate the use of different figures for different cards ...

Lotus
June 14th, 2010, 07:19 PM
Eh, doesn't really bother me either way, I just use what I got, but I figured it may help those who are unfamiliar with Heroclix who find certain figures hard or expensive to obtain.

I don't think it's really neccasary, or usefull enough to justify the labor of researching it and editing each "book of" thread.

A quick visit to Troll and Toad (http://www.trollandtoad.com)and their search function will reveal all sculpts for any Heroclix figure.

For the card? The Heroclix Alfred figure. There's only one. It's insanely expensive, so pretty much everyone will have to find their own proxy, but it'll look the best on the card. :-P

I've got a question, but I don't know if you want to keep this secret or not, it's up to you.

My LGS changed ownership (Again), and these new owners look like they might actually care! Anyway, they have bins of random minis, which enthused me. I found a few henchmen and criminals to proxy as Street Thugs, and I also found this Daredevil:

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu234/hsgriffin/dd.jpg?t=1276919844

Can I ask if this is the one you'll be using? I want to know so I can paint it up. I noticed it's not the greatest figure in the world (A little misproportioned), but not too bad.

Are you guys really doing an Alfred card?:wtf!:

Are we already at the point of low level support players? I'm hoping you're cooking up something cool like a scenario figure or Glyph cause I'd hate to waste your talents on such a silly addition to a heroscape battle.

But then again, maybe you'll surprise me with something unexpectedly awesome. Are Jarvis, H.E.R.B.I.E. and Jimmy Olson next? :neener:

Pyro definitely wasn't the greatest figure... :p I think that HeroClix should actually release the movie versions of some characters as figures. Like the Xmen, I know a lot of people hated the costumes, but I liked them. They were fairly simple, yet still seemed Xmen-ish to me. :p And I like how they did Pyro's flamethrowers in the movie.

Yeah, I am not an Ultimates fan. I love the spandex costumes on Super Heroes. To me, that is just so much of an iconic part of Comic books in general. Still, no one wears spandex better than my man-spider Spider-Man. That is one costume that will always be tight and itchy, you know?

I'm not a D&D fan, so the drow are basically dark elves to me. I just hate they're so short! :p

But their hair was too pretty, so I gave it a black wash. Then I changed their skin color to a dark gray (Like the front of the box), because I HATED their skin being the same color as their armor. I like seeing differences like that! (I repainted my Pyro figure because of the same reason! :p)

Yeah, Spider-man really can't be anything else. :p

But Wolverine in yellow has NEVER made sense to me!!!

For movie characters as figures, I would just REALLY like Dock Ock, Green Goblin, Scarecrow, and Joker. Those versions were quite a bit different than any we've seen before, and would make for some cool figures. But I guess movie rights get in the way of things?

A Dark Claw movie.... really? I mean sure the costume is cool looking but who actually gives a crap about the character and his story? Those Amalgams were created for marketing reasons and at best they offer some cool art.... that is all. Not to mention how impossible it would be for Marvel Studios and Warner Brothers to do a movie together.... you might as well start waiting up on Christmas night with a camera, cause you got a better chance of taking a picture of Santa Clause than that movie happening.
Now a LEGION of Superheroes movie, that would be insanly cool. Their costumes are awesome, their power are unique and usually singular and specialized, their villains are super cool, and their planets and aliens are prolific. That would make a phenomenal movie.

I know it's pointless but a guy can dream can't he? There are a few Amalgams I'd like to see as movies, but no I don't see enough intrest in them. Heck I don't see much intrest in the Amalgam customs I make. In fact I think everyone thinks that all Of my comic customs are Amalgams. I'll admit that right now that happens to be the case, but I do have a few regular comic customs in there to.

I'm working on the minis. Bizarnage is simply going to be a MS Venom repaint, I finally got another MS set so I could do it, I just need to do it;) Getting the MS set though also gave me a few other figs I'll need. I'm still hunting around trying to figure out what figures I'm going to use, but I will get them up. After I finish them I might try to make molds of them and give or trade off the duplicates to those who want them.

I'll probably put it in the thread title when they are done, and post it in here also. I'm actualy lucky, alot of the Amalgams will be repaints, only a few ( I think) will need to be pieced together. I just wish I knew how to make a mold by carving the figure into the mold itself. It'd make it easier then cutting and glueing. Oh well if I wasn't prepared for that I wouldn't have taken on this project.;)

No trouble, but I did end up making my own sandwich. And she ate the ham I was planning on using without any reserve. But she just finds me adorable more than rude, she knows I am just having fun, and she knows that is better than being married to a man who doesn't talk or have a sense of humor. We are good together, and we don't have much of a choice to bicker about petty things when we are working hard together to raise 3 kids. Not everyone gets me, but she does, and for that I am blessed. :D

There is a lot of work and deliberation going on behind the scenes, but we do have one Hero with a down computer, one on Vacation, one on his honey moon, two working especially hard right now, and one getting over a surgery.... so we have been working hard when we can, but life has been very demanding lately.

Wow... what the F?!?

- Most importantly, I hope the surgery was elective and incident free. Without prying into personal lives (because it's not my business) just please reassure me that one of my boys is OK.

- Second is a full blown out Congratulations to Bats. this should be the best time in his life thus far. Honeymoons are the best, too bad that there is only one (unless you are me in which case we did a "honeymoon" every year on our anniversary until the kids).

- Third is a belated Happy Father's Day to Griff as this was his first as the center of his family basketball team (now that there is five... and in case you're wondering, Mrs. Griff is the point guard because I'm sure she calls the shots). Any chance you'll be going one more for the hockey team?

- Lastly... somebody needs to get that computer fixed.

Yeah, craziness I tell you. Cats and Dogs, living together!

Well, I had the computer problem but it was more of a phone line problem that affected my internet service, as in I had none for 6 days because the idiot phone company took that long to come out to repair the damaged wires/phone box by the pole.

I've got phone and internet service again, but will be on vacation and away from the computer for like 5 days starting 6/24. The family is going out to Albany, NY to see my oldest daughter's high school graduation ceremony, graduation party and maybe take a trip up to Lake George.

We'll all be back in the swing of things before long, but we are doing the best to be productive despite real life type things. :D

And speaking of Hockey, my Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup this year, so I've been partially distracted with that great run. It was a beautiful thing, 2 million people crammed the streets of Chicago for the celebration parade. And not a single car flipped over or burned. :D

Dude!!!! Kato is sick! Seth Rogan, that's my cracker, he may be a dorky lil geek Jew, he is my cracker. That movie looks like a lot of fun. Not the GH I am use to, but still a lot of fun. Thanks.

I thought you guys would enjoy the preview, I personally am pretty excited about this movie. Looks moderately funny while having lots of action and violence and a goodish story line.

I'll pretty much watch any SuperHero movie.
I'll pretty much watch any Seth Rogan movie.

This one looks very promising. Very action oriented, but it doesn't appear to take itself too seriously, which is a good thing.

Yeah look him up. He is one of the better up and coming comedians, though with this new picture, I would say that he has come into his own now. Pineapple Express was especially funny, VERY mature, but also very funny.

Kato has always been the best of the two. He is not so much a sidekick as he is an equal friend that plays the role of a servant in society to mask his extreme potential. He is basically a secret weapon. But yeah, Kato > Green Hornet.

Kato is the muscle and action oriented guy, and Hornet is the money and brains of the outfit.

I just dislike Megan fox.

She's attractive, but I woundn't cast her in anything that wasn't adult entertainment. Even then she would probably tell the tabloids that she didn't understand the plot, and that working for me was like working for a Nazi.

Griffin

She's attractive.Even that is debatable honestly.

She is seriously skinny like death
She has almost no female assets... I am not trying to be crude, just very observant and honest
She truthfully isn't all that pretty in the face if you pay close attention. She has her eye brows tweaked real real high and she puts on that STUPID vague expression with puckered fat lips like the dumb bimbo supermodels
Her best pictures are photos that have been overly photoshopedShe is IMO, the most overrated "pretty girl" of our generation.

Fake air-bags, clubbed thumbs, obviously these girls aren't perfect... no, they are human, and that's what makes them perfect.

At the risk of sounding like a dirty old man who has let his standards slip, I love both Alyssa and Megan for what they've got. In certain movies, in certain photos, they are two of my favorites. Put either of them on a TMZ camera and the flaws will blow you away.

Bottom line is, in my teens and twenties, I spent a lot of time focusing on the one flaw and letting that get to me as the reason why they aren't all that. Then in my 30's, I changed the focus to the single one best feature on every woman and enjoyed the view for what it was.

You know what, women are now better looking as I'm looking through a whole new lense.

But if you want a beautiful face, with a natural body, and normal thumbs... give me Jessica Alba in the first FF movie.

Fox has eight known tattoos

Her ex-fiancé's name "Brian" on her lower hip
My daddy told me never to get a woman's name tattoed on me, unless it was my mother or my daughter's name, and even then it was stupid. Two of my bothers with cover up tatoos will attest to the wisdom.
a picture of Marilyn Monroe's face on her right forearm.
She's straight, so I don't understand it right shoulder that reads, "We will all laugh at gilded butterflies" a line adapted from William Shakespeare's play King Lear.
Quoting Shakespear out of context = pretentious
Quoting anything tattoed onto a woman = trashy
a yin and yang tattoo on her left inner wrist
Kung Fu practioner ? No.
Eastern Philosophy adherant ? I think not
Thinks it looks cool ? Probably
a poem on the left side of her rib cage that reads "there once was a little girl who never knew love until a boy broke her HEART,"
According to her, She's had exactly 2 loves/lovers. Her highschool sweet heart and her current man. So this can only sensibly be a reference to her high school sweat heart.
Overly dramatic ? Yes.
a Chinese word for "strength" on her neck.
I'm only suprised it wasn't girl power. Oh no wait, I take that back, she's supposed to be a tomboy.
a crescent moon overlapping a five pointed star on the inner lower leg above her right ankle.
The kind of tatoo a drunk girl gets becuase she thinks it cute.
on the right side of her rib cage, and is a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche that reads "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music".She above feedback about Shakespear tatoo

Megan Fox is annoying (not for the reason you think)

Megan fox is an idiot

I should preface this by first acknowledging that, yes, Megan Fox is undeniably beautiful – lovely in face and figure – and of these attributes I am understandably envious. Credit where credit is due and all. However…

Maybe calling her an idiot is unfair. I have not made Ms. Fox’ acquaintance and can only base this assessment of her intellectual curiosity (or lack thereof) on her performance in Transformers and the subsequent interviews/press junkets attached to the film. If pressed, I couldn’t pinpoint a specific thing that makes her repellent to me but my feelings towards her are not unlike my feelings about eggs* or sloppy joe sandwiches – certainly a lot of people like eating them, but I find them disgusting in almost every way. I don’t hold her physical attractiveness against her, though she seems the sort who – perhaps because she is beautiful – has never bothered to cultivate being interesting.

And there is the matter of her Type. I am referring to a particular kind of young lady who eschews the friendship of women, preferring to be considered One Of The Guys. Please allow me to elaborate. This woman is almost always gorgeous (fine) and demonstrates her dude-ness and affable nature by publicly belching, spitting and farting (see Diaz, Cameron). She will often refer to her lack of gastro-intestinal inhibitions as examples of her being Real – when really, it is just coarse behavior.

Since my own feelings were based solely on irrational, muddled repulsion, I asked my husband what he thought of Megan Fox in the hopes of gaining a different perspective on the starlet.

Me, being direct: “What do you think of Megan Fox?”
Mr. Pancake, disinterested in the conversation: “Meh. ”
Me: “The girl from the Transformers….” (The preview had just aired.)
MP: “She’s…cute.”
Me: “Uh-doy-eee. ”
MP: “But…”
Me: “What?”
MP: “Eh…she looks like she probably wears make-up on her P****.”

His statement – while also irrational – trumps anything that I could possibly say at this point. Make-up on her P****. Indeed.

So you like them with pail skin, greasy hair, and thin lips? Look if David Spade is your dream "girl", than that's your thing and I'm not one to judge. But the scene where she de-clothes on the bridge is outstanding if only brief. And what about that horrible movie she did about diving for treasure... bikini the whole movie... more outstanding. Maybe you like her dancing in Sin-City?

If you can't find at least one movie where she gets your blood flowing than you're either dead... or just looking for an "alternative".

The movie does look a bit cheesy, but I will definitely watch it the first day, as a little birthday present to myself. I find it awesome that the ex-Fantastic Four member and the current Captain America is in the movie, as an evil ex-boyfriend (I love alliteration).

I think that I do my best to push anything about that movie into the dark reccesses of my mind. Also just realized he was in Cellular(2004) and Not Another Teen Movie (2001).

Well as far as I'm concerned, if they were ab;e to put the original costume on TV in the 70's ( I think that was the original airing of the show) then they should use it in the movie. I mean we can say certian cuz words on TV and radio now. I doubt that the original would of had anyone batting an eye.

Only in the sense that the villain is the protagonist of the movie. The hero doesn't seem to be a d-bag, there is no singing, and this seems more child friendly. I do love Dr.Horrible tho. That was a awesome sing-along-blog.

Brolin wasn't bad, but he didn't have much to work with. He was believable though. Honestly, I like John Malkovich, but he phoned it in on this one. Even he was a terrible actor in it. The smartest thing the director did was make Megan Fox be a seen-and-not-heard character for the most part. Most of her dialogue was a single line. I wanted to like this movie because if it was good, how much better would Green Lantern be, but now I am kinda worried.
I know exactly what you mean. Though I haven't seen Jonah Hex, I have been a bit worried about the idea of a Green Lantern live action film for quite a while. It could easily be done terribly wrong... however, just the other day I found this and it gave me much hope.

Ask the current nominee to pick you next in a PM. Who cares if some of the old school NM24ers don't like that. If you want something, you have to go for it, especially when it isn't coming to you. I got my Superman custom up through NM24 by doing art work for Bats and then asking him to nominate me. I didn't even have a custom thread, and I still don't (not for comics anyways). ;)

I've got a lot of cardstock terrain. When built properly, it can be both quite attractive and durable.

Admittedly, part of my attraction to Heroscape is ease of using the plastic terrain, but if you wanted something more modern looking Q-tip had some great ideas.

On the back burner I have an idea for a Printable Master Mold. Just no where near enough free time to make it a reality at the moment.

I used to feel the same way as Griffin, but then I tried some of the WorldWorks stuff and built it using foamcore, and it works great!

Foamcore?

A layer of Styrofoam in between two layers of paper. It is available in most craft stores. I know Walmart has it by the poster board. It is a buck or two a sheet. I built some warhammer buildings out of it back in the day when they were all cardstock. I scanned them and printed out the pieces to make different buildings.

It's styrofoam sandwiched between two pieces of cardstock. It looks like this:

You print out the paper models, glue them to the foamcore, and then cut them out and assemble them. You have to make some adjustments when assembling due to it having thickness, but for the most part it's pretty simple. And the end result is quite durable and sturdy. I've made skyscrapers out of the stuff that stand 3 feet tall, and they support huge figures (like Heroclix Galactus) with no problem.
