Just wanted to comment on the fact that it's freaking cold here. I mean sure it's up to 11 degrees F now, but it was below 10 degrees when I left for work a little over an hour ago. Mornings have been low teens and we get up to high of twenties during the day. Too early for this crap, usually Jan/Feb weather. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

End rant. :)

I'm so hot over here that I have two fans on me... (86 F or something like that)

Poor old A3n has floods headed his way... (I just checked... it is hotter where he is as well :D)

Hot & humid with all the rain soaked ground heating up during the day & then more rains during the night to soak the ground again. Our river is over it's banks at the moment but it's not expected to peak 'til about Tuesday. Thankfully I live high enough that floods don't touch us.

I really don't mind heat so much, but the humidity is the killer. I hate the constant sticky feeling.

I'm more miffed by the fact that we didn't get much of an autumn at all. We went from 90-100 degrees to about a month of nice temps, followed by freezing. It's 15 degrees now, and we may get snow this Sunday.

And all because the stupid planet has to be tilted on its axis. Stand up straight, Earth!!! :)

As a mapmaker, I'd like the vast majority of C3G members to be able to build the maps I put together. So what terrain sets do you have?

I own two of every terrain and master set except I have 3 road/tree sets.

IAmBatman
December 9th, 2010, 05:14 PM
I've got two sets of everything (not three of anything) except lava (which I have one set of). I was hoping to eventually get a second set of lava just to have two of everything, but not with how the market has developed for that.

1 RotV
1 M:tCB

1 RttFF
1 BftU (forgot about this one)
1+ SotM (An anniversary gift to myself, I did give the wife a $3200 eternity ring so I think this was more then fair :p) + all the swamp, swamp water & sand tiles for another set.

1 Lexan city block mat (new style)

I'm so glad you were able to get the Castle sets! If anybody deserves castle sets, it's you.

Only two C3G maps that I can't build (I think). Police HQ is one, but I forget the other.

3xRotV (2 with *sparkly* water)
2xSwarm
2xDnD

Well Good Pig, all I can say is that I really love that series, you'll have to let me know if you dig it too. I really like the international spy type stuff and black ops. I dig how they have some focus on SHIELD, HYDRA, Fury, some new young heroes and some other factions involved. That's why some of my other steady reads of late are the new Black Widow series and the new Hawkeye and Mockingbird series. And now, there's a four part series called Widowmaker and it has Black Widow, Hawkeye and Mockingbird and it has some spy type stuff, but I won't spoil it.

Yeah, I made you and Sir G Mods, A3n - just of the C3G forums - so that you guys could help out with the first posts in Books of threads or moving things around as need be and what not.
I figured it'd be useful for you with the new Art Department.
Sir G I'm just hoping will assemble a task for and edit the crap out of the first posts of all of our Books of threads for consistency (using his "special eyes" and all).
I also figured that it'd be nice for you if you had to make an art update if you could cut out the middle man and just update the first post.
Either way, both you guys deserve it and it definitely is a distinction and a fun power. :-) You can also now see who reps you whether they sign it or not (even neg rep).
Enjoy! :-P

I've been on the hunt for new comics as of late. Looking at reading the Deadpool and Cable series soon too. From the summary it sounds like Nick Fury has gone rogue, Jack Bauer style. Speaking of which I'd love to find a mini to use for a Jack Bauer custom. It could make for a really funny card write up.

I was looking at the expensive (!) Sinestro, and he reminded me a lot of the Amon Sur that C3G (and I) use for the Sinestro Corps Soldiers.

Feeling frisky, I decided to try something bold, sacrificing one of my six figures in the process. I took a permanent black marker, and put hair on him. I then took one of the extra unused figures from my Master Set (inspired by DW1970, doncha know), and based the unit with the hair on it. Here's a pic:

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p288/davidlhsl/DiceTower/Sinestrofix.jpg

Questions: Do you think (besides the obvious basing issue, of course) he stands out enough from the others? Do you think there is any other easy fix (such as using white-out to dab a mouth, perhaps?) that could make him stand out more? Does he look like Sinestro, as I'm not familiar with the guy?

Edit: For me, both the hair and the base stand out enough from the others that I can easily pick him out from the others. But I was thinking about what you folks did with Nightcrawler, and thought this might inspire something in you folks to create something you could use.

Hey all, some recall that I've been working on a little project in my "spare" time. The link below is from my earlier post in this thread when things in my basement were still a little rough. :D

Before Drywall (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showpost.php?p=1238014&postcount=1534)

Now here are some pix once drywall is up, taped and mudded. This has been done for awhile actually. I just didn't get pix up.

Stairs and looking toward tv wall (http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k273/hahma/Basementpixdrywallupnow001.jpg)

From exercise room door toward bar area (http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k273/hahma/Basementpixdrywallupnow002.jpg)

From bathroom door toward family room/tv area (http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k273/hahma/Basementpixdrywallupnow005.jpg)

Okay, I just took these pictures down below a few minutes ago. My wife picked out the colors and I'm learning to like them more and more. Pretty much all wrapped up except for some odds and ends like hanging pictures and whatnot on walls and other minor stuff, I should get the TV this Friday after work. My daughter is coming in for a few days for Christmas break from the 18th-23rd and I had wanted this area done by then since her bedroom is down there in the basement and I want her to finally have a nice area outside of it to hang out.

Anyway, I've busted my butt for the past few months (though the entire basement has been a 10 year project) on this final area and can't wait to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Here's some of the pix as it stands just needing a few finishing touches. I hung up that track light above the bar today and it was a pain in the rear, but I'm glad I finally got that one taken care of.

I still need beer for the fridge behind the bar (the white fridge looking thing in the corner is a freezer) and there's some Superscape mixed with some DnD stuff on the table in the middle of the room, as my girls like playing with them on my new map.

Oh there will be some of that LE. This room was the last to get done over my nearly 10 year journey of building a spare bedroom, office, exercise room, half bathroom, workshop and storage room. I'm about to cry... Someone bought out ALL of Troll and Toad's heroclix last night... I had a 30 figure shopping cart, I was waiting to see Griff's Kilowog mod before I placed the order, and it was reduced to 7 figures. ALL of the 75th set is gone (And I was really looking forward to that Guy and Green Arrow figures (Green Arrow who had around 100 figures just a little while ago...).

AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Ahem* Sorry, I'm a little upset. I'm so OCD I can barely play with proxies, so I needed Bullseye, Echo, and the Lanterns. :p

Well with my in-laws and my father passed away, we just have my Mom as the parent and she's broke, so we got a candle and an ornament for Christmas. No gift card or cash from the parents or in-laws here, but the wife and I Christmas gifted ourselves a 50" Plasma for the basement and I talked her into adding HD to our Direct TV for sports etc. So I'm digging that :D

I need to catch up on my bases and stickers more than new minis though, as I'm running low on that stuff and have tons of minis yet to be re-based. Heck, I also need to break down and get some color ink to print cards or get to Office Max to get them printed as I just have all my cards printed on regular paper in black and white. :(

Awesome another hockey fan here :D I've had Center Ice package for like the past 8 years, so there is pretty much always hockey on around here and my wife is a big fan as well so there's no conflict there at all. I've been in a fantasy hockey league for the last 10 years and have been playing Strat O Matic Hockey (a board game with cards for each hockey player from previous season based on their actual performance) for the last 14 years and traded for Dustin Brown last year.

Kings are a pretty good young team and finally look like they have a goalie in Quick. That was pretty cool that you got to go. The Sharks are usually a tough team out west, though they always choke in the playoffs. :D The only time I've gotten to a Blackhawks game this year was against the Kings back in October and the Hawks won 3-1, good game.

Great to see you around and enjoy your strategies in the Books Of.

CharosInCharge has been playing in my Heroscape group for 4 years now. Playing against him is usually a humbling experience, but you leave the game seeing how a figure worked in a way that you never thought of before. Over the years I have taught many people how to play. When CharosInCharge learned how to play he went home after his first game and studied all the cards. By the next week he knew all the cards better than I did. It was like playing with a pro. To this day he is our best player. When we play in NHSD tournaments he always help us make our armies. When I introduced our group to C3G, he jumped right in and helped all of us relize the power some of these figures have. I don't want to put words in my friends mouth, but he is really excited at the comments he got today from the community, and is planning on writing more articles.

@GamerHusband - I know I put a hurt on your Green Lanterns last week, but there is no need to talk me up :-P

Haha just kidding! Thank you for the kind words.

I have to admit... I was pretty excited when someone slapped me with the C3G Strategist title! So thanks to whoever knighted me with that.

That would be Bats.

You can't prove that. :-P

Question for you guys for a project I'm going to try to attempt:

What are some fun armies/ thematic armies/ effective armies (Superscape only) that you like to play /have played?

Try for 600, 800, and 1000 point totals.

A short explanation of why, maybe a few sentences of strategy (just a brief overview of each unit's role in the army).

Thanks!

Simple themes are fine (Justice League, Mutants, etc.), although I've already taken some of those things into account and was basically polling the community for ideas I might have missed.

I realize I'm being vague, that's kind of cuz I'm still formulating the idea, but any help is better than none! Thanks!

I'm excited to hear from you, CiC!

That's very cool! It would be great to have a custom of that original 1941 one, along with some gangsters and mobsters. :)

Are there any plans on the board to use any other figures from the Danger Room set? C3G used the Angel and Colossus figures form that set so far.

I bought the whole set to get those two and want to sell the rest, but not if I'm going to need them for C3G figures later on.

Most of the extra figures already have C3G representation (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast) but I know you guys have started talking about multiple representations of figures.

The last figure in the box is Storm. She isn't in C3G yet but that sculpt looks kinda cheesy (early outfit.) Is that a a sculpt likely to be used in the future?

Hogg, yes that is likely to be the Storm we use, and why haven't we gotten together for a big C3G game? :D We can raise some attendants for sure, even Tickle Pickle will be in the area some time soon.

I owe Wulfhunter a game first. I had a semi-regular thing going on with him but have been too busy for the last several months. I need to look at the C3G cards more before I play with them too. There's a lot on info to process compared to the one wave at a time pace I had been digesting HS cards.

I have noticed some inconsistancies, or areas that could be cleaned up in the wording of several of the cards too. Are you guys open to feedback on that kind of thing?

Open? Yes. We want to fix stuff if it is needed, but I can say pretty arrogantly that we have a really top notch staff and what you may consider needs cleaning, was likely intentional for some reason unknown to you. But I would absolutely be open to that sorta dialog. In fact, if you are interested, I think you may make a good addition to our ERB. :)

Last night, I watched X-men Origins: Wolverine. I couldn't recognize some of the mutants, but my main question is:

Is Deadpool really an inhumane monster that has all of hte mutants' powers?

No. Pretend that you never saw that monstrosity.

That part wasn't meant to represent Deadpool and wasn't actually Ryan Reynold's character anymore ... it was "The Pool" at that point and just borrowed DNA from Deadpool. One of the alternate endings showed that Deadpool was still alive at the end.
Hogg, I'd love to hear your thoughts on inconsistencies via pm, if you're up for it. :-) If anything needs to be corrected, I'd rather handle it privately.

I could name countless wording corrections. Well, not really corrections, more like things that would make it sound better.

Also, thanks for Deadpool clarification. I thought it was false.

How about a Riddlesmith? Lifesmith? Painsmith? Embersmith? Maybe Myrsmith? (It's a Magic joke).

Oh, and I've always been a wording junkie.

There will be some wording inconsistencies among cards as the group has evolved -- new people have joined the group and successfully proposed improved wording. The art department would have to be willing to retrofit older cards if you are looking for 100% consistency.

Looking forward to testing out all the Lanterns!
