There are some figures that can prevent the Yellows and Greens from using thier shields. The key word is on the attacking figures card. If it says that they aren't allowed to roll defense dice, then they cannot use the shields.

I figure that if I'm going to keep track of the FAQs then I better be able to start answering the questions correctly ;)

Well, the proper figure is just too pricey (Kilowog was expensive enough), so I made my own.
Cheapy Sinestro figure plus some yellow and black paints and I'm done. It's the first repaint I've ever done, so it's not brilliant, but it works.

Force of Fear Special Attack is great at instilling fear into people, but probably shouldn't be reducing Destructible Objects' defense.

Agreed. Good call.

How do you want this one worded?

Currently:
FORCE OF FEAR SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 1. Attack 5.
Figures without the fearless or insane personalities roll 2 fewer defense dice when attacked by the Force of Fear Special Attack. After attacking with Force of Fear Special Attack, you may attack one additional time this turn by removing one yellow Battery Marker from this card.

How does this look?

All figures except for destructible objects and figures with the fearless or insane personalities roll 2 fewer defense dice...

Griffin

I think Quozl is on to it, with a few more edits to cut out the repeating of the full title of the special attack and to time the removing of the marker BEFORE the second attack:

FORCE OF FEAR SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 1. Attack 5.
All figures except for destructible objects and figures with the Fearless or Insane personalities roll 2 fewer defense dice when attacked with this special attack. After attacking with this special attack, you may remove one yellow Battery Marker from this card and attack with this special attack one additional time.

I feel like his base stats should be a tad better. I mean we're talking about Sinestro: legendary green lantern gone bad. If he's truly such a large threat to the corps and the universe shouldnt he be able to hold his own in a fight against a green lantern or two? Along with a construct mech?

Sorry, just my thoughts about him :p

The thing is Jack, that without the ring, Sinestro is a weak little alien. With the ring of power though, he has amazing stats. Have you read the card?

Yes, I see what you mean. I guess I just dont like having to burn up so many batteries on his shield and special.

Griffin
July 25th, 2011, 12:27 AM
Well with the Yellow Power Battery his stats start with Move = 9, Range = 5, Attack = 6, and Defense = 6. I think that is pretty darn good, and if you look at his special attack, you may better appreciate that he doesn't have to burn a battery to attack with it the first time, though he can to attack with it twice in a turn.... I think you have really overlooked some things here, but to each his own.

Also worth noting that with a higher base life (5) than most of the Green Lanterns, he can take more risks rolling defense than burning his markers to save his own butt. My personal strategy is to roll defense and not use a Yellow Shield until he has lost at least 2-3 life, and then usually only against a big attack.

After all, if he has 2 life remaining and 4 markers, that's at least 4 turns before your opponent can hurt him (special abilities withstanding), and during that time he can continually attack with the Force of Fear. Interesting to note as well, that unlike the Green Lanterns, he's gotta a pretty big punch even with no Battery life left!

Yep. Power Batteries are delicate things - don't use them unless you're either a) in a position where you'll lose if you don't or b) you're in a position where you're confident you'll win on that turn if you do. :-) Otherwise, just milk the heck out of those beefy attack and defense rolls.

I don't know all that much about the Sinestro character, so this may be a dumb question. The figure on the card is a normal looking black guy in a yellow suit and that figure cost $35. Then their is another Sinestro figure for only $2 that looks nothing like a black guy, but has a big head and is in a black suit. Are they suppose to be the same person? Is the $2 Sinestro figure an acceptable substitute for the $35 one even though they look nothing alike?

Yes, that is the same "Sinestro;" he wears yellow nowadays, but his costume used to be blue. A lot of other C3Gers have bought and repainted that figure so he's an acceptable proxy.

However, if you're comfortable waiting a few months, there should be an affordable yellow version coming out in a new Heroclix set. I'm personally waiting on that one - but I can't picture anyone objecting to the blue and black one.

(And as a note, he's a big-headed red-skinned alien in both sculpts... it's just different degrees of the two. :D)

What else is coming out in that set? Should I hold off on buying any green lantern figures at all until it hits?

*update* I just went ahead and ordered the Sinestro figure and two Green Lanterns I had in my shopping cart. They helped put me over the top for free shipping and I didn't want to take them out and look for more stuff as a result. Already bought too much as it is. lol

Just bought The War of Light set. Any chance of an official proxy card for Sinestro (since he's $31 less expensive and still yellow)? If not, I'll happily make my own since unlike Alfred, I didn't get him as part of a larger deal.

You guys and your OCD.

Either:

-Print the comic art
-Print the mini art and live with it
-See if you can find a deal on the actual mini

There still is a possibility of an official proxy card, but we don't do it often and this card is pretty old. I proxy all the time. Heck, I just did a playtest with a ton of Asgardians using nothing but Tarns and MacDirks.

A ton of Asgardians!!!! That booster is going to be crazy good, I can already tell from the few I have seen in play testing.

Sadly, I always print the comic art. I just miss having the correct hit zones (that I pay no attention to during actual games)......

Heck, I'm considering recreating the original Marvel Heroscape cards with comic art just to match......

I guess that does qualify as OCD.
