So does anyone use either the Dzu-Teh or the OG when there's no synchronous terrain? I imagine the OG's too pricey for a slow squad, but I'm starting to think the guaranteed 4 attack and nice 3 defense for the DTs is kinda tempting in a 75 point common package that will never let you down like the wolves occasionally do.

I've used the Dzu-Teh without snow before and I have to say, they didn't do to bad at all. That 4 attack becomes a 5 when they have height. Nasty if you ask me.

Dzu-Teh are much better point for point without terrain. Really I think they're better with terrain too. I never use them without though, they just become to bland and generic without their specials. Without Glaciers you lose the joys of "flying yeti death club".

Obsidians are unplayable unless the map uses a lot of lava in key positions...then and only then can they be considered worth the cost, and actually useful.
Dzu-tehs, on the other hand, are a bit more flexible. I wouldn't say they're fantastic, but yes, they can be an interesting alternative to the wolves. Sadly, you are paying points for powers that go to waste if there's no snow around.

Sounds like there's a pretty good consensus on this one them. Nice to know I wasn't way out in left field on the Dzu-Teh.
I guess the OG are gonna have to wait for a unit that can change terrain before they become more generally useful...

True. Obsidians should never be picked for a pre-made army unless you've seen the map in advance.
They are only good at holding positions in lava or similar tasks...rushing to glyphs across lava, protecting areas near lava, etc.

I thing the Og would be a fun rescue mission in a swamp and lava feild, were they could stop and hold off enemys in the lava, but while running the'd be easly picked off in the water.

I've used the Obsidians without lava. They are a very good melee unit. They're just expensive without some lava to even them out, but they're still impressive if they have to come out of their pit. Just don't put 'em in water.

On a close quarter map with not much height the obsidians do alright even without lava. They are tough little buggers with a nasty attack. Someone took them for a premade army at the pittsburgh tourney and only one of the five maps had lava. They did pretty well.

against eachother, on a flat plain, who would win?

Pure luck.
It depends on whether the fact the Dzu-Teh probably attack first (5 move instead of 4) trumps the fact that they roll one less Defense against the 4 attack of the OG.

I would bet on the OG. Yes the Dzu-Teh are a bit faster but once they're engaged that's not really helpful. Both squads have the same attack value, bur the Dzu-Teh only have a defense of 3 making them statistically vulnerable. Especially considering both squads have 3 fids :!:

ok, also consider the cost value, equal teams of 9 OG and and 12 DT, thats two teams of 300, who would win?

I'll take the DT on that one. The -3 figs is too tough to overcome on a single extra defense die.
~Aldin
ETA especially since, as has been noted, the DT prolly get the first attack

Put that way,............I would definately go with Dzu-Teh! Strength in numbers still tends to ring true in any event :!:
Those OG's would be lumped up pretty bad with those clubs  !
OG's,..................,......

I just made the OG cheaper to justify their inherent worthlessness.
that way they can afford to go to the tiki parties
(look at their heads)

One squad of each against each other, the obsidians win it 57% of the time.
At an even point value (300), the dzu-teh win it 71% of the time. Though I will say that on a map where there is molten lava, the ability to get a touch of range is better than moving 1 space faster.
Beleive it or not, math can answer these burning questions.

What's love got to do,.....got to do with it. What's love when you catch a clubbing beatdown! Who needs a head when a head can be broken.
