(http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=28451) Any Heroscaper, C3G Hero, C3G Sidekick, or C3G Ally can sign-up for one playtest at a time, by contacting the Lead Designer by PM, and ask that member for the current form of the design. As soon as the LD PMs an Ally or Sidekick, that Ally or Sidekick MUST subtract 1 Design Point from his own point total found in this thread: C3G Ally and Sidekick Rewards Thread (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=29758)(NOTE - this could put you in the negative) However, full playtest sheets will now pay out as 3 points. The Playtester must return any completed Playtest Sheet to the Lead Designer by PM, who will post it in the appropriate design thread.
There is now a 3 person cap on how many people can sign up for a playtest, but the playtesting will close and the design will move forward after the first two completed playtests are submitted.

Just to clarify, here's the process:

2) The Lead Designer of the design you signed up for will then pm you the latest card (Sir Galahad in this case). However, if it's a public design thread, this is unnecessary and doesn't need to happen (so don't worry about it, Sir G). If it's a future, private design thread, you'll have no other way of seeing what to playtest, though.

3) After you're done with the playtest, you need to get it back to the Lead Designer. If the thread is public, you can just post it in the thread. If the thread is private, you'll need to use a pm or email to the lead designer. :-)

Just to clarify, here's the process:

This brings to mind something that may be missing from our rules. If all of our selections and designs are done in private, how would an ally or sidekick know what they can playtest? It seems like there needs to be a public list of "Designs In Progress" (just the name of the figure, no more).

I think secrecy is kinda paramount, so I was wondering if leaking info about cards during playtesting phase should be grounds for dismissal from participation in C3G. Otherwise, what is to keep an Ally from posting any playtestable designs in their own thread as customs or as "leaked" cards (other than integrity.)

I think we can just deal with that if we ever have to. I trust our guys though to do the right thing. Besides, I don't think anyone wants to be "that guy".

They don't, but I am personally against adding amendment after amendment to our Rules. I think if it were to happen, we should just address it then, but I don't think that it will.

I think some people could argue against the fact that they got kicked out for breaking a rule that's not stated anywhere (that wouldn't stop them from being kicked out, but it might create bad PR). What's the harm in including one line somewhere in our rules that says "All heroes, sidekicks, and allies are expected to keep unreleased designs private within C3G, or even within a small subgroup of C3G depending on the status and type of design." That last part is to prevent ERB members from sharing designs with each other.

I would never vote to kick someone out for a one time screw-up. A warning, PM discussion, public rebuke, sure... but not an immediate dismissal without notice. I don't think any of us would do that.

I have to agree with Greyowl that a single line addition would not be a bad thing. Especially when it comes to the ERB. We really hold nothing over them to keep them from leaking things though.

We can't make everyone happy. There were issues when everything was public and now I'm sure there will be those that don't like that it's private, but in the end, this is what had to be done. The C3G is ever evolving and trying to be the best that it can be and put out the best product possible. There are more ways than ever now for others to participate in some form or another, but some things need to be separate. :D

We can't make everyone happy. And that is really the meat of the issue. Once we realized this, and then realized that the majority of our Heroes (designers) weren't happy, that meant that it was time for a change. After all, if our designers aren't happy and they leave, then no one has fun because we won't have any more units to play with.

Sometimes we (Heroes) and old Sidekicks (Matt Helm :p) think we have certain privileges. That is in place to help clarify that we are ALL on the same playing field. :)

What if, instead of posting the name of figure available for playtesting, you post that GreyOwl's figure is ready. Then, if someone is interested in playtesting, they can PM GreyOwl to find out which figure he's created. That way, we (the public) don't know which figures are close to release until the actual release day. Just a thought. :D

I think what they are talking about is not letting people know the name of a unit until they choose one. So basically, a non-hero would see a list of LD's names, then they would choose one of those names, lets say GreyOwl. Then GreyOwl would at that point give that non-hero all the info associated with that design, including the name.

I think you might have misunderstood. The playtesters would still know who the figure is, it's just the general public that wouldn't. For example, I would post "GreyOwl's unit is ready to test" in this thread, and if someone volunteered to test it, I would sent them all the info, including the name.

Yeah, I kind of think it would be nice if the playtester got to choose one that they were really into, if multiples were available at a given time, rather than pot-luck unit dinner.

Besides, since we are doing all the initial designs and brainstorming privately, the public can get their excitement when they find out which ones are available for playtesting. They are still a mystery until that point, so there's still some excitement I would imagine when others find out when we release them to the public for the first time in that phase. :2cents:

Do you know how to properly request a playtest?
If you read the rules, what you are suppose to do is post a comment on the thread, which you have done, and then also send a private message to the LD (Lead Designer) requesting the information needed to playtest.

And I thought I needed to get confirmation first."more playtests won't hurt!" is a line that an LD has the right to say if he doesn't mind another Playtest. But honestly, we don't need a bunch of people pilling up on one Design, we need that effort distributed. And I believe Bats used that line when there was a mix up accidentally and Daredevil ended up with 3 testers. It was more of a point to just move forward instead of scrapping any efforts someone may have already made, and just go with the flow, but that isn't and shouldn't be the norm. Also, to playtest, you are right, you do need "confirmation".... from the LD of the unit you wish to playtest; A3n. That is why it all starts with a PM to the LD requesting the writeup needed for you to playtest.

Aside from the Daredevil mix-up where a 3rd playtest was allowed. Unless extra playtesting is requested by the Lead Designer, any "extra" playtesting wouldn't get you any extra Design Points. It wouldn't be fair or right IMO if someone had a bunch of extra time to cram in a bunch of "extra" playtesting to get Design Points and then get to the top of the list quicker to be a Lead Designer in the public thread.

If the Lead Designer posts a request for a 3rd playtest, then by all means the playtester would get points for it, but otherwise no points. Besides, if people start doing "extra" playtests and then another new Unit is released for testing, someone might be inclined to stop the "extra" playtest to jump on the new playtest (for points) and if they ever get back to the "extra" playtest, it might be too late to be helpful by time it gets finished.

Not to mention, it's only a matter of time before the Whitestuff led ****** or the Necro led ****** ****** or the Spidey led **** ****** come out and need a tester. So, honestly, you're too awesome an asset for us to let you get tied down with unnecessary testing (or burnt out on it!).

Domino - She's got 9 points on the requested list, and I've got a good idea where to go with her
Paramadic - Common Hero. The common squads are some of my favorite C3G creations. A Common Hero is something else Superscape lacks.

As Master Tang said, in most cases, you will not be able to play a unit unless you are one of the two playtesters or until that unit is released. However, we will break that rule when it is necessary. For example, if you are working on Sinestro Corp Uncommon Heroes, we will likely send you everything we have concerning that unit in terms of synergy, like Arkillo and Sinestro.
