i was pretty pleased with how this turned out. the Legionnaires made it so Marcus didn`t need an order marker. Marcus helped everyones movement and hung back with the 4th Mass taking turns advancing while keeping his attack bonus.

i`m sure it helped that the AE dropped right away and blew up a bunch of junk.

I tried an army like that. But I didn't have the Romans and only had one 4th Line, so I added Sgt. Drake.

But it worked out well.

I play an army like this all the time. As mentioned before, Sgt. Drake is a good addition or substitute, if you think you're going to need lots of melee power that can walk through ranged fire. It's not an exciting army to play, though. Mostly you've got to be patient, use terrain well, and convince the enemy to come to you. It's a very solid, game-winning army, but you won't often see big "I can't believe I just did that" turns.

My current roman army (400 pts):

Marcus Decimus Gallus (100)
Roman Legionnaires x2 (100)
Airborne Elite (110)
Ne-Gok-Sa (90)

Very solid overall. Marcus and NGS both bond with the legionnaires. AE and Romans get the +1 move and +1 attack from Marcus. I usually activate NGS more than Marcus, since his high defense keeps him alive forever once he's engaged. Then I can hold Marcus back and use him to boost the AE whenever they drop.

I have seen this army win a 400 point tournament twice that I know, and probably more. It is so solid in that point value. If you went up to 500 you just add in AE.

But that's just me, and I like the thematicness of it. (yes, I just made up a word.)

I like running Marcus, 4th Mass, Roman Legion, and another Warlord or two to give some bonding flexibility. Me-Burq-Sa is usually a solid choice, as he adds fast-moving range to the army and also provides a nice way to take down high-defense squaddies. A swarm of Venoc Vipers and their Warlord is also a nice touch. The Venocs swarm out as your first line of attack, then you use the Legion to move VW around late in the game as clean-up.

Rychean's right, you have to add in the Marrow Warlords, I think Burq is the only one with range.

You mean, the 10th regiment of foot that weren't released til June 13th 2008, and wouldn't have hit stores for a couple weeks after that even? So came out a year after the next to last post in this thread?

I would have posted it in a more active/recent thread like the Books of 10th Regiment or 4th Mass and say something like, "which is better, this soldier build with x2 4th Mass or x2 10th Regiment? I'm going with the 10th Regiment". Since your post says "Don't you think...?" you're kind of directing it towards the members who posted in this thread a while back and at their time when posting there wasn't the choice of x2 Mass or x2 Regiment, just x2 Mass.
