Vanguish, Gvey and I plan to offer two TMG events at Gen Con this year:

A fun event - The Battle of Helms Deep (using a heroscape tile map based on Peterparkerh's excellent work).

A revival of the North American Championship Tournament.

I will post additional details as they become available.

Hurrah! Even though I seriously doubt that I will ever make it to a GenCon... I am delighted to read that some one is still playing the LotR:TMG. My entire collection has been put away in my storage unit - I haven't even looked at it in months - and I've been tempted to convert them all into HeroScape custom figures (haha, no chance of that, well maybe just a few of my extras). Well good luck with your events, I hope we'll see photos and battle reports of the sessions. ~ John G.

Excellent. With you, we have 6 confirmed so far, including two former North American champions. Two of these are juniors, but are experienced players.

We will be using Tournament 3.2 rules with CinciCon modifications. Those can be found on the Snaggletoothgames website.

We will have some prize support. It looks like a gift certificate and trophy will go to the winner. There may be gift certificates for as many as 10 participants as well. In the past we have provided a Snaggletooth approved custom as a participation prize. I don't know if we will get a new one approved for this year. If not, we can give out the last custom we did, a dwarf warrior.

GenCon preregistration ends June 19. You can get badges and tickets after that, but they can only be picked up at will call.

As of right now there is only one spot left in the Fun Event (Battle of Helms Deep). Plenty of spots in the North American Championship.

Updated rule set now available at:

This rule set consolodates tournament rules 3.2 with all the changes made for past CinciCon events. It will be the rule set in place for GenCon 10.

See you in Indy.

A big well done to jdtenor, who played a limited collection well in his first tournament. About the equivalent of showing up to GenCon with about half the figures from ROTV and playing in the main event. Some more figures and a little more experience and this guy will be dangerous...

Had a lot of fun playing and learning. And yes I'll be padding the LOTR TMG collection (need some Battle Cry). It was great to play a bunch of great guys. I have a couple of rough days at work coming up but should be able to post a battle report mid-week at the snaggle site. Thank you for your help and kindness.

I literally JUST got the Starter set for this game and was delighted to know that it works well with Heroscape terrain stuff. I've yet to play it as I've been reviewing games like mad lately, but it's on the list. I'd love to get more units, but they appear to be completely dead.

Watch ebay listings. From time to time a batch of base set figures will come up. Buying in lots is usually the best way to build a collection.

We will continue to run GenCon events. It may be hard to get a collection that will make you competitive in the Championship event, but we plan to offer at least one fun event each year where we provide all the figures. So there will be at least one event where everyone is on equal footing.
