Update: 1.8.10
Updated glyphs w/ new template. Special thanks go to Malechi for the excellent background image! I updated the Talisman Glyphs. Added a few new ones. Also changed font from Arial to Impact. Also some of these are still being edited, but I want to share them now...The newest ones are just ideas right atm...So feedback is welcome

Original Post: 1.3.10
I was at first hesitant to create this thread until I had more to add...The game mechanic of using glyphs as items has always been my focus, that and coherently weaving a balanced scenario w/ which to play out a narrative driven by the gameplay...this (mostly) is the current focus of Heroscape, so I thought I would share a sampling of my item glyphs...Some of these are new and some have been posted in my maps...
Though I never really explain their use or the scenario...

I have always in the past labeled all my custom glyphs as Artifacts..to allow me to change the abilities later, or make more lengthy wordings...Maybe it just shows my HeroQuest roots...

I am holding out on making cards until I see if they change the template w/ the future official glyphs releases...

Enjoy...

I have no plan for what these 2 do yet, though I have alot of ideas...Mostly I work backwards when making glyphs...1st I find the right image/item...then I figure out what mechanic it can serve in the game...

Talismans
Edited:1.8.10 Changed background, changed font.
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff168/ormus_ara/ArtifactTEther.jpg
Ascend the Heavens: When counting movement spaces for the figure carrying this glyph,
ignore elevations. This figure may fly over water w/out stopping, pass over figures w/out
becoming engaged, and fly over over obstacles such as ruins. When this figure starts to
fly, if they are engaged they will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

Lava Resistant: The figure carrying this glyph never rolls for molten lava damage
or lava field damage and he does not have to stop movement on molten lava spaces.

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff168/ormus_ara/ArtifactTWater.jpg
Water Walk: The figure carrying this glyph does not have to stop movement when entering water spaces.

Epic Weapons
Edited: 1.8.10 Font changed to Impact.
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff168/ormus_ara/ArtifactJO.jpg

Righteous Smite: When attacking a figure who follows Utgar,
add 2 additional attack dice.

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff168/ormus_ara/ArtifactURage.jpg

Dishonorable Attack: When attacking a figure who follows
Jandar, add 2 additional attack dice.

Destroy Relic: Instead of attacking w/ the figure carrying this Glyph, you
may choose another Glyph this figure is carrying or standing on. Destroy this Glyph
and remove it from the battlefield. Destroy Relic does not affect Utgar's Rage.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your cool stuff here Ormus! More +rep from me, for you. ;)

I really like the Jandar's Oath and Utgar's Rage artifacts, hw do you use them in game?

Thanks Proto!...

You spotted the new ones...I am working the abilities out now so let me know what you think...

The idea for Utgars Rage was an ability to mirror Dishonorable Attack and make Jandars Oath the opposite...

Kinda weak, I know....It's funny because the Silver Sword Glyph above was always used as +2 against Undead and wolves, where player 1 must obtain said glyph and give player 2 X amount of extra army points in Undead figures...to create a scenario type feel, yet remain balanced...

I must spread some reputation around before giving it to Ormus again, goshdarnit.

These are compelling, beautiful, and thought-provoking. They will raise the game's visual impact, moving minds in the direction of mythopoeia. I thank you for these. I'm going to print them out, cut off the maroon outlines, edge them, and turn them into stickers, which I will place on blank glyphs.

Might I suggest an Amulet of Ullar? The official backstory has referenced these many times; Acolarh has one, three were stolen, Kee-Mo-Shi has one of the stolen ones, and so on.

As far as the glyphs' names go, I feel that specific names carry more mystery than generics. For instance, "Glyph of Brandar" as opposed to "Chalice of Fortitude." You do have Marsyas' Flute in there, which makes me worry that the bearer is going to get flayed.

Again, amazing job, Ormus.

Edited: Oh, and the Dire Stone, too! Another mysterious artifact referenced in much of the backstory. I'd love to see that.

And, um, "Hammer" is misspelled.

Wow, they all look great! Nice choices for using items and terms already common and present in the game, too!

And, um, "Hammer" is misspelled.

Maybe he meant for it to be spelled like that. He did say that It was going to be used as some sort of key.

Wow...these are kind words sir...Thank you

Good catch on the Marsyas reference. Actually I used this in a previous map...The joke was that I placed it at the end of a river, as though it washed ashore...Marsyas being the prior owner in ages past...

And I also loved the Tolkien coinage...mythopoeia...I love that...

And, um, "Hammer" is misspelled.

D'oh...

Wow, they all look great! Nice choices for using items and terms already common and present in the game, too!

Yes that was my goal...That's why I used the Oath and Rage references but to be items also...

No...I'm just dumb...I could go w/ your version though...yeah...fully intentional

Even though I made it as a joke...I went ahead and put that Orb of Apotheosis in the 1st post...

I had a custom glyph like this from some of my older ones...We played a scenario called Apotheosis...In which said Orb would be put power side up at the center point of a map and players vie for control of it...Of course it was treated as mobile w/ the same rules you find in my map thread from the Deathly Hallows thing back in 07...

The Orb glyph would give some huge boost to the carring figure, but the catch is you must reroll the d20 at the start of each turn: 16-20 the glyph stays in its current owners possession, 1-15 the Glyph deems it owner unworthy and teleports back to the center...

Added Malliddon's Prophecy to the 1st post...

Also working on this Brandar substitute...

I was going to make it an: Exit the dungeon w/ this Glyph type of Victory Condition w/ Othkurik being the trap... Ability would be like -2 move or something...

Now that this has been Necro'd I don't feel as bad saying awesome work.

I wouldn't mind seeing the rest of the generals get a Glyph.
