Winmap
While this is a cute map, I'm afraid that I have very bad taste and will not be voting for it.
Zwilling Wellspring
Simple but well-constructed.
The Grinder
Interesting ring of road, plus lava fields with tantlizingly high points right next to your enemy. The lava blocks off easy access of the lower peak to the higher one, except by the circling road. I've seen the fountain in the middle elsewhere, and like its effect here.
Rightful Passage
From the name, perhaps there's an overhang in the middle? A lot of variation on heights. The passage on top of the overhang (if there is one) is bordered on both sides by rock, a sort of natural bridge. No need for extra sets here (though possibly there are trees).
Path Wisely Chosen
Interesting. Looks like a big emphasis on the lower corner of the map, with maybe some excitement at the thin connecting point between the two cliffs. I'm not sure about such a heavy emphasis in one area of the map (and that one offset on only one corner).
MiniMap
Awww, what a cute little map! No frills, and rather tiny. Probably perfect for tiny demos with interesting heights (I've seen a list of four or five maps before that were all constructed from a single master set; the link is http://www.anunlikelystory.com/desc03e.htm ). Maybe it has trees. But possibly not. It probably doesn't need them.
My final vote
The Grinder has the most interesting possibilities here. I also really like the MiniMap. It's rather darling.

The Grinder - simply because it looks more fun to play.

The grinder does look like a fun map to play. I should vote for the map that looks like nether though since this is his contest and UD is offering cookies. I would rather have a candy bar though.

I voted for minimap. I think that this one could change the strategic outlay of heroscape more than almost any other entry (in all threads) by creating a situation in which you do not need to deploy your troops to start the battle. You drop them down in the optimal configuration and you get to play it that way from start to finish. Sounds really interesting and really changes the game. It's almost like playing on a chessboard. I'm definitely going to try this map out.

I think Grinder is the best all-around map here. Good looks, execution, playability, variety. Rightful Passage definately is the best design... excellent use of basic terrain and lots of strategic possibilities. Mini-Map rocks! hehehe Path Wisely Chosen would have been MUCH better without the row of road tiles along the bottom...alas.
