Posted on 11/1 in the Debunking the New Player Import theory? (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?p=947621#post947621) thread:
A non collectible D&D product on Walmart shelves carries far more earning potential than a blind purchase hobby market item like D&D minis.
Will it be on Walmart shelves though? I was surprised when my Walmart started stocking expansions again this month, but mine (like most) is having plenty of trouble moving the Marvel set. Do you think they would want to add the D&D pack -- something they may perceive to have an even smaller fanbase -- to those?
That would be a whole other topic. The original poster is asserting that D&D Heroscape has not been created with the intention of selling to current D&D enthusiasts.

Hmm, nobody else ran with this? Now that it has its own topic, how about it Gb. Will Wally's be carrying the DnD Master Set?

(I'll still be getting mine from Sandra when the time comes, but I'm interested in seeing what kind of exposure MS3 will be getting.)

edit: Yeah, I can't find it, but I know that a while ago I saw a post (I am fairly sure that it was by Grungebob) that said something along the lines of "They will be carrying it." They was definitely in response to something about walmart, although even IN context it sounded more broad, as though walmart and FLGSs wouldn't be the only ones. Lol, look one post below.

Awesome! Thanks for the info.
Hopefully that kind of exposure will bring us lots of new players.

Is Jan. 12th the confirmed release date?

(Only asking because if it is released before Jan 26th, I know what my son's b-day present will be - he's already asking for it.).

I can't confirm that.

That's cool...Just will need to keep the eagle eyes out.

His birthday last year was our first BIG jump into Heroscape (He got both master sets last year for his BDay - thanks to this website and it's wonderful forum for leading me to coolstuffinc.com and getting them both for about 50 bucks with shipping).

Was going to continue the tradition :)

Very good news for the game - thanks, Grungebob!

Any reason as to why they wouldn't release this set for the Christmas season? Hmmm. Seems like a no-brainer to me...that's the only time I ever saw MarvelScape sell-out on Walmart's shelves...leading up to Christmas.

And...any idea how many stalagmites the set comes with? And is it true these are repaints of the glaciers? Thanks!

From my point of view:

Whew, Wife's B-day, wave ten and Christmas outta the way so the ole wallet needs time to recover.

(Wizzards) DnD master set will be released Late Jan early Feb.

All right! I got some time to regroup!

As long as it's out in time for TotalCon in February then I'll be happy.

Local Walmarts in my area have suddenly resumed carrying Marvel Heroscape as well as booster packs. I regard that as a Very Good Sign.™

Which booster packs did you see? Wave 9?

Wave 9 is popping up all over the place in Louisville, I'm hoping for some Wave 10 for some Christmas stocking stuffers.

Wave 9 has been restocked several times at our local WM (Dayton, Ohio area), so I'm crossing my fingers for a soon-ish appearance for wave 10.

Yeah, my Wal-Mart hasn't had any 'Scape for months, and now it has Marvel sets and Wave 9.

I hope this means there's still a sliver of hope for Marvel Wave 1......

I think any of you who are not seeing the importance of Wal-Mart carrying this really need to sit and think about it for a bit. Thats pretty huge and should pay off greatly for the fans!

Who's not seeing that? It seems everyone in this thread thinks that Wal-Mart carrying D&Dscape is a good sign, myself included.

Incidentally, all this talk about Wave 9 being restocked at various Wal-Marts indicates that more casual gamers not on this forum are probably buying 'Scape, but in NYC we don't have Wal-Marts, so every time my group has played Heroscape at a game store here in the city, we have someone walk over and say, "That looks cool -what's it called?"

No Wal Mart in New York? is that the whole state, or just NYC?

I dunno, I really want Marvel wave 1, also, but last time Wal-Marts were stocked with the Marvel set, they went right to the clearance isle... :?

That's really one of those store-to-store things. My WM always has ten-or-so Marvel sets on the shelf and occasionally gets boosters (though they haven't had wave 9 yet :x). I wouldn't be supprised if the Marvel sets showing up at stores where they haven't been is just WM corporate trying to move stock they don't plan on replenishing in a way that sets up the shelves for the new product.

This is great news. :D

I'm more excited about the official ruleset than the box itself >.>

This is Great news if you ask me! HeroScape is the only reason i would shop at wal-mart, and walmart is the only store around me that has ever had HS. 1 of the 3 walmarts in my area recently restocked wave 2. the other 2 have NO HS at all.

If the DnD set is good, I am hoping I can get my DnD group into scape.

Heroscape seems to be permenentally dissapearing from the Walmart shelves near me. I think I am down to one, so hopefully that one will keep stocking it long enough for me to pick up a D&D set from a store. I don't want to think about what the shipping cost would be for a master set.

Sherman Davies

Shipping's not actually all that bad if you're in the USA. A lot of our site sponsors offer free shipping with a large enough order, and War Gamer's HQ (http://www.wargamersheadquarters.com/category/heroscape/?cat=398) offers $5.95 shipping, no matter what you order.

what proof is there that Walmart will carry the DnD sets? My local Walmart cleared out the Marvel sets for $10 (I picked up 2). And has had no sign of Heroscape since.

Ater my shortage of cash and not being able to get wave 10 I plan on having enough to get at least 2 master sets from Sandra :) And if my local Wally world gets them in I will pick up another

RageAngel

Maybe, just maybe, I'll pick it up when it goes on clearance at Wal Mart then.

Still, this is HUGE news!
