Supposedly the GCN controller works with the Wii....how I don't know. An attachment? They say you can play the new SSB using a traditional controller "so don't get rid of it."
Interesting.
Since the Wii is supposedly TRULY 100% backwards compatible (unlike certain other systems...cough 360 cough) I will be getting it in pretty short order because I can just trade in and pay the difference. Backwards compatibility rocks my socks.

a lot of games will work with a regular controller, the Wii has ports on the back that fit a GCN controller into it. All they will do is progam two control styles into it, one with motion sensing and one without. Games like SSBB, motion sensing may make it more difficult to pull off quick attacks etc, and you may want to switch to the standard controller for some button pressing.

I think i'd probably prefer to use the GC controller with some of the games, such as SSBB! But i definitely would like to try the Wii controller with games like Mertroid Prime 3!

I'll be getting one probably. We already have a Gamecube so the backwards compatibility will be nice. It's also nice and small I think it'll be perfect to take in my RV.
I just bought a Xbox 360 and am hooked on that at the moment though.

It uses regular gamecube memory cards. Also you can reportedly increase the built in 512 mb of internal flash memory by using sd memory cards, but im not sure on that.

Right now I have no interest in the Wii. I've really been let down by my last two Nintendo systems; I actually regret having purchased both my GBA and Gamecube. Nintendo has a lot to prove to me this time around. If they don't get some good, innovative games that really make use of the controllern I'm going to pass.
Even if they do I'm still not entirely sure I'll pick up the system. I'm not sure how well it'll work with my entertainment setup. I have a projector and all of my systems are off to the side and the screen is 12 feet away from where I sit. Unless there's a way to get the sensor in front of me without running lots of wires I don't think it'll really work for me, and if it doesn't come with component cables (info is still sketchy on that) then that'll be even more irritating.
From what I've seen so far none of the games use the controller in a way that makes sense to me, and some of them are clearly stretching to use it in some fashion. I don't want gestures, motions that essentially duplicate a button press... I want true analog control. Until we see games that use the controller in a truly innovative way I'll be holding off.

I'm a bit concerned about the controller as well.....mostly I worry about hand fatigue from being forced to hold somthing up in the air for a long period of time and move it around in odd motions. I'm not some lazy out of shape guy or something, but try holding even a light weight object out in front of you for an hour or more. It's uncomfortable, to say the least. I'd prefer to relax, kick back on the couch, at put my hands on my lap or rest them on the arm of the couch or whatever.

For all controller-worried, most multi-platform games will use a regular controller attachment, and most games will only need limited wrist movement. Really, the amount of strain in your arms will only be as much as a Heroscape game (700 pint army or so for an hour). Picking up pieces, rolling dice, etc.
GO WII!!!
jcb231
September 20th, 2006, 06:56 PM
Yes but in HS you are relaxing most of the time and are doing small tasks for a few seconds at a time. You are not holding a large controller object in one or both hands out away from your body for a long period of time and moving it about. The two are nothing alike.
Has no one else seen a similar technique used to punish kids in Catholic School? You'd be surprised how much strain even a light object can create over a long period of time. My childhood friend used to have to hold a book out flat in each hand....not even a heavy book. Most kids could only do it for a short while.
johnny139
September 20th, 2006, 09:42 PM
Well, yeah, but if you lumped the strain of Heroscape together, it would be kinda like it.
OK, I'm not good with similes. But still, if moving your arms tires you out, maybe video games shouldn't be first on your to do list.

You can just as easily do this with a Wii controller. Just because the advertisments show the people with their hands waving like crazy dosn't mean you have to play that way. From what I have understood, the motions are very short tilts and jabs of the controller, not huge slashing motions.

Cool. Because in all seriousness, standing up, holding controllers out in front of you, waving them about like mad, and jumping or steppign from side to side is not exactly restful entertainment. It's like doing some sort of mild weighted aerobics for an extended period of time, and even if you're in good shape that can be very stressful on your body....especially the herky-jerky movements they show in the ads.

Me too! I'm too impatient to order it online and wait a week or so! Plus because over here it's out on the 8th December there is greater chance of things being stolen in the post and it may arrive late and i don't want to wait until after xmas to recieve it! The store i want it from isn't taking pre-orders yet but they are compiling a list of people who want to pre-order it?! So on the 8th December i will hopefully be first in line when the store opens!

I have read in several places that their is a setting to change the controller sensitivity. So if you feel that you can not play that jedi game without waving the controller like a sword you can adjust it to do so. On the other hand, if It is taking to long to throw the ball on your Madden game you can adjust the setting so the controller is more sensitive.

I belive Wii sports is being inlcuded as a learning tool. Wii sports teaches you how to use the new controller and all of its new features. Each game inside is really simple and focuses on a specific part of the new controls.

I suppose its only to get you used to the sensitivity (is that a word?) of the movements you use in any game. But waht worries me is that it is so low in price compared to the other consoles:
PS3: £350 on release
XBOX 360: £290 on release
Wii: £180 on release
if you assume that it is value for money, then the Wii is assumed to not be very good :?
Still, it hasn't put me off getting one :)

The prices Shadow put were the UK Prices - Xbox 360 was about £300 on release in this country, which equates to maybe $500 - $600 dollars. How much were they in the States?
Same with the Wii - £180 is probably about $350 - $400 dollars.

I just figured out why my 360 prices were off. There was addtional purchase (known as the value or gold deal) that gave you a game and an extra conrtoller. This was the $499 one. jcb231 was right.
As for the last question, there are several points in favor of the Wii.
It costs less than all other next-gen consoles.
The Wii has a unique and inovative gameplay system. This revolves around the new wireless controller set up.
Wii-fi (as it is curently called) comes free with all consoles. One of the premere features of Wii-fi is the virtual console. This lets you buy (for $5) SNES, NES, and Nintendo 64
The Wii has a pretty cool launch line up.
CONS:
The Wii is the worst console in the graphics department.
Nintendo is known as a company that caters to "kids".
Due to its different controller, the Wii has smaller third party support.
The name Wii is really quite pathetic. :D

Well I considered not putting any cons at all, but I thought I would be a little more objective. For the third party support your right. In fact some of the most anticipated games (like Madden 07 and Marvel Alliance) are third party. I myself will be getting the Wii; but if there is somebody investigating a console you have to give them both the good and the bad.

It seems to me like the Wii is positioning itself as an alternative or second console. It's not meant to be a 360 o PS3 level system. It's meant to be cheaper but unique, with quirky games and fun applications that make it something truly different. It's a brilliant move I think.
Personally, I don't compare the Wii to 360 at all. I want a 360, and I think I want a Wii, but I don't want one over the other....apples and oranges.
A PS3, on the other hand, is a lot more of a direct competitor to 360.

Definately the 360....the graphics and sound will be much better, and most third party multi-platform games are not going to be designed from the ground up to work with the Wii controller.

October 10th, 2006, 10:57 AM
That doesn't mean they can't port it over using the 'shell' controller. That kind of takes the fun out of the system, though. Nearly all of the Wii games I will get will be from Nintendo.
jcb231

True, they could use the shell, but the graphics and sound will take a dive and the "port" nature of the beast will probably be shockingly obvious. I'd much rather play third-party multi platform games on a PS3 or 360, as most of them will be designed with those type of systems in mind and should suffer only minor variations in quality from one to the other. Wii is going to be an afterthought for many games...."How can we add motion sensitivity to our game so folks can wave things around like a lunatic?" :-P
I think my Wii library will consist almost entirely of 1st party games and other games designed specifically for the Wii....I think the most "normal" game I want for the Wii is Super Smash Bros, and that is meant to be played with a GC controller (so don't sell them!). When I get a 360, I'll use it for essentially all my regular video-gaming....only exception will be if a game comes out for PS3 and Wii but not 360, which I think would be unlikely.

Yeah, Wii isn't a 3rd Party system.
So I'd get a Wii for first party games and third party games designed for it, and 360 for 3rd Parties and Halo.
Since that's the only good 1st Party XBOX game.

There is a famous 3rd party game coming out for all consoles named Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. The critics agree that the graphics are much better on the PS3 and 360, but they also say that the gameplay is much smoother on the Wii. Does this justify buying it for the Wii? If the game is more fun but graphically inferior on one console, will you buy it for that console then?

Let me find the specific article. I believe it was at IGN. It said that gameplay flowed more smoothly for two reasons: The controller made it so you do not have to memorize long combos like you have to on the other consoles, and you did not have the pesky menu of X-men legends. (If you did not play X-men Legends I can describe it for you. You could only have two of your powers usable at any given time. You had to switch to your menu in the middle of the battle, if you needed one of your extra powers.)

Wii is totally backwards compatible with all Gamecube games, controllers, and memory cards, so if you want any games for it at all it's a no brainer upgrade I think. Just wait till the kinks get knocked out and you should be alright.
And whatever you do, don't accept the pitiful 25-50 bucks trade-in most stores will give you. Sell your cube to a friend for just below pre-owned retail, or sell it on eBay, or whatever.

After spending the past 2 hours fighting of tears of joy and PURE excitement I decided once and for all that my dad will not tell me "No our family will not get a Wii this year." I'm going to get one and if it comes down to it I'm going up there tomorrow after swim practice and I will wait. I will be the first in line (people here lined up wed. at 3 for the PS3.) I want the Wii more than I've ever wanted anything in my life and by God I'm not going to let anything stop me.
LOZ: TP looks like the most beautiful adventure Link has ever taken and I've heard nothing but good things about it. The graphics are better and I heard the Wiimote is EXTREMELY accurate so it's your own fault if you miss the target with your sling of bow.
Red Steel looks amazing. I keep watching the commercial on TV where he turns his controller sideways and the guys 9MM turns sideways. It looks BA to say the least.

I tested a Wii out at the Nintendo Fusion Tour, and really enjoyed it! They had , like, 5 different demos. I thnik they were Wii Sports, Wario Ware Smooth Moves, 2 others, and Zelda. I only went in the room for a bit (because the concert was great), so I only got to play one demo. I was hoping to play Zelda, but the line was too long, and the Wii room was closing soon. So, I played Wario Ware. It was a bunch of fun minigames, and the controller responded very well. Before the concert I had decided to quit video games, but after the concert I changed my mind. Now if only I' will get a Wii for Christmas...

A word of warning to all campers....watch your back, or bring a friend to watch it for you. People were beaten up and/or robbed at gunpoint during the PS3 hullaballoo. Keep safe! You're carrying an item that could be worth well over a thousand on eBay! Take the same sort of care you would take if you were walking out of the bank after making a big withdrawal or leaving the jewelry store after buying the wife/girlfriend a ring...actually, take more care since this is a frickin' big box that annouces "I have an expensive item and it's well after dark and I'm alone!" and thus ne'r do wells are going to be staking these stores out, just waiting to make a move.
I'm thinking of camping out to buy one....not because I want to keep a Wii just yet, but because I can't turn a blind eye to the insane profits people were getting for the PS3. If the Wii is selling for about 250, I'm hoping it will re-sell for at least 750 or a thousand. That's definately worth a few hours in line tonight. God bless capitalism.

I think it's looking really dated....it was fine when n64 didn't use voice, as that was difficult on a cartridge based system. But when cube did it it started to seem odd. Now Wii is following the same trend and it's definately looking dated. What's another month when this game has been pushed back forever? All they need to record are Japanese and English. That's all most games come in....heck many games just come with an English track. Maybe Spanish, maybe French, maybe German if they really wanted to court the Euro market. But they could start that process very early on so it doesn't delay the game creation....not like the voice actors are also programmers.

There will be MANY more WII's than PS3's. While I was waiting in line for a PS3, the store I was waiting in front of got the Wii's and the PS3's at the same time. 3 PS3 boxes (6 systems), and 15 Wii boxes (??? systems). Yeah, I was about to say that I doubt that the Omega Gamesphere would fetch the same prices on Ebay as the PS3. It seems that Sony decided to release a product that may or may not be finished, and set a release date when they don't have enough product to satisfy everyone's needs, causing one of the rare freaks in the economic system to poke out their head. Supply and demand aren't balanced in this equation, causing prices to skyrocket on something which is already overpriced.
I think it's bad business for Sony to do something like this, why would I want to camp out for something when I don't even have a guarantee that there will be any left when it's my turn in line?
Nintendo, however made plenty of their product, trying to satisfy their customers. That is GOOD business practice. Their prices are reasonable, I'm not paying for something I don't want (I already have 4 DVD players so I don't give a crap about the PS3 playing anything of the kind), I'm not paying for more than it's actual value, and I'm getting a revolutionary controller.
I can just see Sony copying this controller soon, and charging an arm and a leg for it. They are out to squeeze every last dime they can get from their fans, which THAT alone I think is horrible.

Contrast to the waiting PS3-Kunden some days ago, the Wii queues were more arranged, and humans did not stand like an enormous lump before the shop around. Also those about fifty Capmer before “Nintendo the World net curtain” waited loose and more relaxed for the sales start, than it was with the PS3 the case at that time. how does it work? is the controller really as retarded as people make it sound?
The controller senses motion, where you are pointing, the x and y axes that you tilt the remote and stuff - there is a controller for each hand. So for the boxing game you really get to swing both of your arms to pummel your buddies. The bowling game you walk and move your arm and throw the ball just like real bowling and it picks up spin from how you twist your arm and everything.
I think it's utterly awesome, but we did mostly party style games. This kind of controller means that certain kinds of games will now be able to really shine - for example I think that no other console will be able to make a bowling or tennis game as well as a Wii. I suspect other sports (swinging the bat in baseball for example) will be similar. Rayman is really fun and the wii sports that come with it were lots of fun with 4 people. I also played excite truck but didn't quite get the hang of the controls for the few times I played it - I think it's me though not the game - it was still fun. I suspect that the console is better suited toward fun multi-player play with friends than hardcore solo gaming, but I think I'd have to wait and see more titles come out before I could really decide (I didn't try any hardcore gamer style games so it's just a guess). I think there really is the potential for a several really killer games (hardcore even) to come out only for Wii. It seems like there might be some difficulty porting cross-platform games over as this thing is really designed to have custom games made specifically for it. It's also a really great console for people who aren't big gamers, like my wife.
I have some pics but my wife has to download so I don't know when I can post them.

I've heard that PS3's resistance is not bad. It's nothing original or particularly exciting, but I've heard it's very very solid and competent. That it gets points just for being a very solid example of a console shooter, while losing points for not having anything really original to say.

For most things you just need small motions. I like to do big motions anyway because it's more fun that way for me to go nuts. It's pretty cool how with the games I played you can use a wide variety different motion styles for fun and it still works out. For example, when bowling we were able to do the under the leg shot, the spin around and throw shot, the granny shot, etc. and they all worked out. It's fun stuff. In boxing you can either just flick the controllers to hit or you can go full aerobic and act like you're really boxing (which I prefer).

They said it should be out in the second half of 2007, for those who would rather wait. They said that the new system may be more than the current price structure. By then though, the system will probably include a game or something with it, much like the 360's are doing now.

I hadn't considered spending this much and was going to get a PS2 instead. Anyone out there able to give me some good reasons to spend the extra? I've never owned a video game system excpet my old Atari as a kid so I'm clueless - please help!

Well, if you are getting it to sell on eBay, there doesn't seem to be a huge profit to be made, compared to those of the PS3.
If you are getting it for your enjoyment, I highly recommend it. I was in and out of a line for about 30 hours at a local Wal-mart with a friend who was getting one. I had no desire personally, but when she brought her system over last night and we hooked it up, it was really fun. Graphically, its not as advanced as the 360 or the PS3, but it makes up for it with using those dang remotes and nunchucks. Oh, be prepared to make a donkey out of yourself, if you are playing with others.

I'm not getting it to sell - it would be to own and play. I've read a little about the graphics and games not being as good as PS. Will this be a downfall in the long run or is it just because the wii is new? Bare with me here, I'm totally new to all this.

I read an interesting article where Nintendo is going to release a more equipped Wii in 2007 that offers DVD playback and a few other features. They said it should be out in the second half of 2007, for those who would rather wait. They said that the new system may be more than the current price structure. By then though, the system will probably include a game or something with it, much like the 360's are doing now.
Gotta link? I have not heard this. It seems to go against a lot of Nintendo philosophy.
How do they work out the wireless controllers?
When they have a demo kiosk, you go up to the counter and get the controller from the employees. Usually you have to give them your driver's license or some other collateral.
i wonder how SSBB is going to work. I honestly cannot percieve how they will have such interactions in a game like that. I hope you will have the option to use normal GC controls too.
Oh, BTW
:nopics:
Gamecube controllers work with the Wii. The Wii is truly 100% backwards compatible. I have yet to hear if this even extends to linking a GBA with it, but I imagine it may.

I do not think it will hurt there sales too bad. Most of the people who get the Wii are getting it for the games. If they wanted a media system, they would no get it. (Not to mention how almost every body in America already has two DVD players.)

i have zelda and red steel. zelda is awesome, get it. the cube version is not better, just different. the sword play with the wiimote is really cool and no my arm does not get tired. :)
red steel is okay, but not great. its not worth $50 IMO. only get it if you just HAVE to have a shooter.
my friends have super monkey ball and marvel: ultimate alliance. monkey ball is okay...the multiplayer blows. i know that sounds crazy, but i was really disappointed. monkey target sucks this time around. single player is basically what youve played in the past.
marvel is a decent button masher...er...arm waver. its tedious but fun with a couple of friends. it reminds me very much of gauntlet legends for the arcade /n64 if you ever played that.
i havent played excite truck but ive heard that its fun, but short.
if you want to know the honest truth, zelda and wii sports is really all i need. seriously. and no im not joking. im 25 and a huge gamer, and as much as i cant understand it...wii sports is really really fun. even for someone like me who wants a deep game, the game is just cool. all the different training modes and high scores to beat is just fun. plain and simple. zelda is really really cool, and well...its zelda. im 22 hours in, but between wii sports and zelda, ive only played red steel for about 2 or 3 hours. if had known wii sports was going to be so much dumb fun, then i wouldnt have gotten red steel. just my opinion, but save your money for wario ware, or some third party games. nintendo will be giving out wiiconnect24 downloads soon and that will tide you over as well.
hope that helps.

I can definately agree with hulkster about zelda, red steel, and wii sports.
I returned red steel, and i've been playing zelda and wii sports a lot.
I have 3 other games: Monkey Ball, Call of Duty 3, and Trauma Center, but I havn't even opened them. Zelda is amazing, and once I beat it, i'll let u know how the other games are. 8)
P.S. This Zelda game is definately the most fun Zelda I've ever played, but for some reason, I still think Ocarina of Time was deeper, but then again i'm only 10 hours into Twilight Princess.

Everyone I've talked to who has played both the Zelda Wii and Zelda cube versions of the game says that while both are good the cube one is better because it's more intuitively Zelda. It also doesn't suffer from the tinny speaker in the remote, which they say is over-used in the Wii version. I hear that while there's more accurate aiming in the Wii version (point and shoot!), it's easier to do melee combat in the cube version, as you don't find yourself accidentally thrusting when you should roll or so forth. Bottom line was they said Zelda is meant to be played with a regular controller, and it seems like the Wii stuff was just tacked on.
I've played the Wii version only, but I can see how they would say that. I find the concept of a motion-controlled Zelda to be terrifically awkward. I suppose if you've never played Zelda before it wouldn't matter, but if you've spent hours and hours on Zelda games like I have it might bug you. I gave up on it after spending a few hours at a friend's house....he did too, and decided to trade his copy in for the cube version.

I particularly had a problem trying to thrust... I'd always hit the a button and end up making a jump attack instead. *shrugs*
The motion controls did feel tacked on and they really should have gave you the option to not use them... such a shame too, as the aiming for the bow and such was so much easier for me...
As for game recommendations, Rayman Raving Rabbids looks like a lot of fun.

I'm kind of confused about the Gamecube Zelda. How does anyone know that the Wii version is better if the Cube version hasn't come out yet? From what I've heard, the Twilight Princess was originally designed for the Cube, but Nintendo decided to have a big launch title for the Wii, so they delayed it. I don't think there will be that much of a difference to justify the purchase of a Wii yet. I've played it and its fun, but graphically, it doesn't compare to the 360 or even the PS3 games that I've played in the stores. I don't think its the purpose of the Wii to compete.
Personally I'm in no rush to go out and buy one. The only game I want for it is Zelda and I can get that for the Cube. I'd rather wait six months to a year. By then, Zelda will probably be included in the bundle.

hmm, well maybe im the only one then that loves the motion control in zelda. i just love when im smacking away at a boss and im having to flick the controller all over the place. makes me feel like im more in the game....and doing MASSIVE DAMAGE at the same time. (little sony press conf. reference there).
seriously though....i dont consider myself a rookie to zelda, as i have played and beaten every zelda game ever made(NES, SNES, n64, GB/color/advance, etc. etc. etc.). yes including the horrible Phillips CD-i games that no one probably knows about. ive logged countless hours into the zelda franchise so its not like i havent played the ones in the past. that being said, i love the motion controller with the new zelda. i dont think its a hindrance at all.
and again, maybe im the only one, but i like the speaker. yeah its not the best sounding speaker ever, but it does sound awesome when you are slashing guys. theres just something immersive about it. wow, do i sound like a huge toolish fanboy. sorry, but i just am completely sold out with this console. so i guess im a fanboy when i like something a whole lot? well then consider me a fanboy of pizza....cuz its awesome!
i have a gamecube, but if you just have to play the game on the cube...why not just get a wii for other games and play zelda on the wii with your gamecube controllers. problem solved.

Did Wii break your TV?
People aren't getting a grip on Nintendo's new system.
By Mike Smith
29 Nov 2006
Picture this. You're lining up the perfect shot in Wii Bowling, remote in hand. You set up the shot, swing the remote with all the strength you can muster, and... follow through a little more than you intended.
Somehow the remote leaves your sweaty-palmed grip and bang, smash, there goes your TV, window, photo of your granny, anything that happens to be in the path of the newly liberated remote.
Hold on, though. If you're wearing the (supplied) wrist strap, no harm done, right? So you'd think. As you can see, some Wii owners are finding the strap decidedly lacking. (Check out nascent site wiihaveaproblem.com for more strap malfunctions.) The problem isn't with the amply broad strap itself, but the considerably narrower section that connects the strap with the remote, which is prone to fray in some circumstances. The result is smashed remotes, smashed televisions, smashed windows, and unhappy (or, at least, somewhat red-faced) customers.

Teething hardware troubles are hardly new to the world of console launches, especially in the last year or so. The Xbox 360's original overheating issues are well documented, with the first production run of consoles suffering what is generally regarded to be an unusually high failure rate. We're even hearing the start of mutterings about overheating issues with some brand new PS3s. But it's probably the first time a console's design has lead --albeit indirectly -- to quite such a catalogue of destruction. To its credit, Nintendo appears to be happy to replace the wrist strap in some circumstances, but if there really is an underlying design weakness, then it needs to be addressed before an unfortunate (or worse, sue-happy) bystander gets beaned by a stray remote.
Sure, it's easy to laugh at the misfortune of these hapless Wii'ers, especially if you're still combing stores for miles around looking for yours. One broken strap could be regarded as misfortune, but as the volume of fractured straps grows, it starts to look more like carelessness -- or, at least, evidence of a lack of real-world testing.
In the meantime, wise Wii owners will want to consider hunting round the house for something a little stronger -- or waiting for one of the more opportunistic peripheral manufacturers to cash in on the opportunity to flog reinforced replacements at an inflated price. That's business.

you should watch the videos of the people having all these accidents though. they are swinging like madmen. its SIMULATING real swings, but swinging 300 mph isnt going to make you hit it any harder. my brother was throwing as hard as he could in the wii baseball.....and getting 90mph fast balls. but then i sat there and flicked my wrist at a mild speed and threw it 94 mph. so the guys having all these broken windows and lights and crap are just over doing it. im sure my analog sticks on my ps2 controller would mess up to if i pressed forward on them as hard as i could thinking it would make me go faster.

That is EXACTLY the issue I kept having....stupid jump attack! lol
I agree that there should have been an option not to use the wii controls. Since the Wii has GCN controller ports, any game that can work perfectly well with a GCN controller should give you the option.
A hybrid option would have been nice....use the GCN controller for most of the game, but pick up the Wiimote to aim and shoot.

I'm surpirsed people are getting that violently into swinging the thing...the most subtle of motions will do the trick 9 times out of 10 it seems. I barely moved the thing to drive in Excitetruck, and made only subtle gestures with it in zelda. Big swinging motions tended to either be awkward, uncomfortable, or imprecise, giving me results I didn't want.
In wii sports I sat down comfortably in an easy chair with my elbows resting on my lap or the armrests, making only small motions with the wiimote. It worked just fine and I had a real blast with the game.

I have been a faithful nintendo owner since day 1. I for one have always prefered nintendo products to the others. The graphics may be slightly less but I still feel the game play and quality of the games are better. so ask your self what is better the worst game in the world that is boring to play but looks great, or a awsome game that is highly replayable after you beat that may be slighlty less on graphics. MMMMM tuff choice eh? I for one cant wait to get a Wii. I have not yet sampled the new Wii, but the new controller looks so cool and revolutionary. It is geared towards all, I for one love the idea since I can play almost all games with my young kids in the same room. It depends what you're looking for. I think Nintendo produces the highest quality family friendly games, but I think the other platforms have their own niche. I think what hurt the Cube was the lack of online play. Playstation has online play, but its not supported nearly as well as the XBox.
I think each system has its benefits. I enjoy the RPG's on the Playstation and the Zelda/Mario/Metroid franchises on the Cube. I'm not for or against any system.

I don't expect it to compare. I do expect it to be a big improvement over the Cube though. I think Nintendo is trying to carve out its own little area in the video game market by offering something completely different. It's a bit disappointing, however, when a decent amount of reviews for the Wii are saying its only slightly better than the Cube graphically. Call of Duty 3 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance were both nailed for its graphics. What I've played for it, I've enjoyed. Those dang boxing mini games burn my arms though.

Because of that article? Really? I mean, it comes with a wriststrap. It doesn't suggest you swing around like you would a real baseball bat. If you don't wear the strap and swing a small, sleek controller at 90 mph, mathematically, it will come out of your hand. Any intelligent person would... you know... not... do that. Yeah. That.
