Hey Slacker!
I grew up outside of Las Vegas and used to go mule deer hunting with my dad up by Elko every fall.
Now I'm in Boston though. People are kind of, well, "different" about hunting out here
Anyway, your post brought back fond memories...

Wow, that's a trip. My old man was the preacher at First Baptist in Elko for four years when I was a kid. Some of my fondest memories are from that town. I loved that I could ride my bike from one side of the town to the other and always know how to get back home.
Sorry I can't help you out, Slacker - I live in Texas now - but there are days I miss that little podunk backwoods town. Of course, by now the gold mine has probably brought in more people, and hell, you're big enough to have a WalMart. So I guess my small-town childhood memories are pretty much all that's left.

I didn't spend much time exploring the town. Mainly was up in the mountains looking for mulies.
