I watched this last night. It was sort of a Rocky movie but more about the end of the guy's careeer than the start. But it shares similar qualities to the original Rocky. Though it also reminded me of The NOtebook in that they lay the dranma and sadness a little thick.
Rourke is great as usual. Marissa Tomei seems to be doing nothing but nude roles recently so that was a little dissapointing. She seems to play the same character in all her movies. A shame since I like her overall.
Rachel Evan Wood was a little over the top and a little schizo in this. She was more of a spoiled brat. Everytime she was on scene I wanted to yell "just grow up!" Boohoo, daddy left, no need for hateful histrionics, jeez. So what, he was late for dinner, big deal! VEry over the top character.
Also, the ending was too predictable...well, sort of. It is rather ambiguous but you get the idea of what happens.
It was a good film, but a little mix bag for me. Not my favorite Darren film, but good nontheless.
