I believe wdgrant has an afternoon conflict. Any reason this can't start later? Say 3pm maybe?

Crap, I'm going to be in westfield that day...

I obviously would love a slightly later start, but if that doesn't work, I'll still be there a little late to maybe get in a game or two.

I'm not sure if we are getting enough responses to secure prize support, but I say let's get together and play anyway.

Hahn get to work on securing us some table space.

If you come, bring a map.

I just pm'd a bunch of invitations. Let's wait and see if there's any response.

In the meantime should we begin talking groundrules, army size, maps, etc...?

Stop trying to steal louisville folks, Hahn...you're only doing this so you can maybe place in the top 20!

Come to Louisville if you want a challenge!

Army Size

Looking around the country, I averaged the results from the other NHSD's:

517 Average (Mean)
520 Median
500 Mode

I say we go at least 520, maybe around 525. If we want bigger monsters (but longer games) 550-575 is good too. Or heck, we could blow the roof off with 700 point armies. That'd give us some great Jotun vs. Tor-kul-na action!! :D

Oooo...700 would be fun.

Hahn, how are we looking for people that day? If we look to be coming up short, we could run some Scape at the WhosYerGamers Halloween game day that falls at the same time. It is at Gamerz, and they need people to run games. Perhaps we could find some new area players, or just get in a few games ourselves. When will you make the final decision that we have enough or are short?

Avast you Bilge-sucking Dog!,

I just thought Indy NHSD was D.O.A. I could not get folks to commit and we have miss the window for prize support, not that it matters to me.

You've got my digits so give me a call this weekend.

Signed,

It is a forum topic. For some reason, it only showed up after I logged in. If you are just browsing and not logged in, some forum topics don't show up. It is the most recently posted thread if you log in. It is pretty much an all day thing at Gamerz to try to gather food donations and winter clothing donations for area charities. I can be there by 3:30, and I'll just plan to bring a map or two and a couple armies. I'll also bring some board games. If people can make it great, if not I'll try to rope in some newbies.

Yo-ho-ho sounds great to me. Some Scape followed by RftG, Dominion, and we'll finish up with some Chaos in the Old World and we can splice the mainbrace when we are done.

WYG site doesn't have a time, just that it is an all day event. I think Gamerz opens around noon. I'll put a post on WYG's site and get more details to post here.

Oh... so does this mean that there is no NHSD in Indianapolis? I was trying to convince some of the Ohio guys to attend. I guess I am a bit late though. :(

Hahnarama

Pretty much. We couldn't get folks to commit in time, or in time for prize support, so we rolled Scape into the gaming Saturday @ Gamerz.

Moxilla
September 23rd, 2009, 09:10 AM
Ah, well I could probably attend that. I could also bring a map or two and a couple of prizes. I am trying to get rid of some excess games that I own. I have several board games that I could bring to play as well. Do we have enough HS players to do a small tourney? Maybe a single elimination tourney or something? I have listed some of my boardgames below.

Doom: The Boardgame + Expansion
Dominion + Intrigue
Betrayal at House on the Hill
Twilight Emperium 3rd Ed.
Nexus Ops
Munchkin Fu + expansion
Chez Geek + expansions
Ninja Burger (Card game) + expansion
Colosseum
Race for the Galaxy + Gathering Storm
Battlestar Gallactica
Cut Throat Caverns + 1 expansion
Wealth of Nations
All of the TableStar Games
Puerto Rico
Carcasonne + Expansions
Citadels (Card game)
Galaxy Trucker + Expansion
Tsuro
Quest for Dragonlord
Heroes Incorporated
Arkham Horror
Ticket to Ride
Settlers of Catan
Oltre Mare
..and about 25 others that I can not think of at the moment.

So just let me know what you need me to bring. :)

wdgrant
September 24th, 2009, 08:34 PM
Space might be at a premium for enough maps for a tournament. How many are we thinking? I will post on the gameday host sight and see if we can get two tables.

The action starts around noon, and I will try to get there about 3:30-4ish. How many do you think you will have, and when do you want to get there. I will try to coordinate, but my guess is 4 maps or so would be about maximum spacewise.

mecha frog
September 25th, 2009, 02:39 PM
I will be showing up with at least 3 people and possibly 4 (or very unlikely 5). If we do a tourney maybe we could do a round robin throughout the day. Everyone plays everyone else once. Scoring points for wins and maybe even draws. This would also let players enjoy other games while they wait for an opponent. Also, early arrivers can get a round or two in before other players show up.

If we end up with too many players to face off with everyone we will just need to figure out how to rank everyone. Maybe a playoff or something.

September 25th, 2009, 04:10 PM
I am trying to convince 4 Ohio Guys to come to the Indy Event. Just to be sure, are we talking about table space at Gamerz?

wdgrant
September 26th, 2009, 09:56 AM
Yes, it is at Gamerz, but the Gameday is being run by a group called WhosYerGamers, so they are the ones that I am getting clearance for space from. I think I'll try to get 4 maps okayed. Hopefully that will be enough for us all to have a little fun.

Is anyone planning on getting there before me? I want to give them some time info as well.

I'm going to try to get there sometime betweem 12-1.

Do you want to set up maps then, or are you going to just hang out and play other games? If you want to bring maps, I'll let the WYG folks to set us aside some space around then.

I've been trying to get some gather to gather at Saltire on Sundays. They don't carry Heroscape but I'm planning to show and play Dominion and some others.

So I have a few Ohio guys interested in perhaps attending, if there is going to be table space to actually play Heroscape on NSD. :)

I guess I'm confused. Is there going to be a tournament in Indy or just a game day? If it's a game day what kind of paramaters do you have for armies? How many points? I'm thinking of going to Dayton's tournament, but I'm not 100% yet. Please give more details.

Thanks.

Hahnarama
September 30th, 2009, 09:27 PM
Game Day. It's being run by a local game group as a fund raiser.

If you are looking for just Scape NHSD then going to Dayton would be your best bet.

I still need to know if anyone will be getting there and setting up maps earlier than I can be there (4ish). Either way is fine, I just need to get some space reserved.

Also, as this is a charity event. Those participating are being asked to bring a food item or winter clothing donation.

I've requested table space starting at 1 PM. I haven't gotten confirmation yet, but I'm hopeful that will be okay. I don't know exactly how much space we will get. I hope enough for 3 or 4 maps.

Hahn and Mechafrog, can you guys bring map material since you will be there before I will? What do we want to do for army size? I don't care, but I would probably lean on smaller armies versus larger. It makes for faster games, which means more games.

October 10th, 2009, 09:17 AM
I can bring maps. Army size 450? Are we tournying or just having a good time at NHSD? If we are playing for fun, I say bring more than one army if you want. I'm kinda liking the idea of playing for fun.
